GROWTH REQUIREMENTS

Intermediate Trainee:

Intermediate and advanced students are allowed more leeway with missions, and also gain harder assignments and roles.

Full Fledged Hunter/ Advanced Trainee:

150 points + a private mission assigned by their senior

Advanced Hunters missions might also include helping train or oversee beginner trainees. They are assigned or choose individual missions and can even oversee groups. Advanced Hunters, as they no longer have the "Trainee" title, are responsible for their own actions, and may choose to join missions or are assigned to them, but no longer take part in classes or learning sessions/lessons.

Personalities:
Milton Bates - Milton wants to be your friend. Like, really, really, really badly. This air of desperation, stemming from parents who never really took him or anything he said or did seriously, has caused him to either alienate his peers or annoy the crap out of them when he clings like a leech. He's a conformist, lacks moderation, and tends to "act now, apologize later" when most of his failings were self-fulfilled prophecies. If he had just toned down on the whole "LIKE ME PLEEEASE" shtick and actually took a step back to get to know himself, Milton would have discovered the Before in him sooner.

Before, when not flailing about and apologizing for his accidents, is a slightly childish but agreeable, lighthearted fellow. He's fiercely loyal to those he considers as friends and is insanely protective of them. To the point of taking a bullet (or a booterang) for them! In the initial phase of the training, Before's willingness to sacrifice himself was out of his lingering self-esteem issues as Milton. Operating under the assumption that at any given time he will be thrown under the bus, he decided to preempt it. But having met Boss, Bix, Bee, and Thor, Milton has now begun to consider the possibility that any sacrifice he makes is not out of a self-destructive preemptive measure. He's still fine with taking a beating, believing his actions make him deserving of any punishment. Just leave his friends out of it or he'll flip his s**t out on you >CCCC

Whether as Beta Four or Milton Bates, Before has, and always will, love to give people nicknames and feels any rejection of said nickname is a rejection of him :CCCCC But that's okay, he'll just give you a new one! CCCCC: His surprising resiliency has helped him deal with his excessive conformism as he slowly begins to successfully grow his missing (metaphorical) spine.

Through recent experiences, Before has come to realize he has yet one more glaring fault: He doesn't know how to let go of a grudge. Not that it's of any importance. It's not like he'll ever be in any position where he'll matter. Though once his trust or loyalty is lost, it's unlikely he'll ever consider mending it. He goes along the path of least resistance that, without outside influences, will have him continually avoiding the source of his grudge. But that's fine too, because he's pretty much accepted his lot in life, err Mist.

Vanna Black - Vanna has guilt issues due to having her former partner die. She doesn't remember who they were or how they died, but she just has that nagging sensation that she's why they died. Her worry that she'll never be good enough had her hone in on Before's deep-rooted need to belong and found a kindred spirit in him. Actually, she hit the jackpot with Before, because he's treating her like royalty and she gets to act like she's the hunter instead of the weapon. Yes, she loves the pampering and compliments and how protective he is of her and as a result, it's all going to her, uh, metaphorical head. (Which technically as a former Devil Shield means ninety percent of her.)

She's possessive of him, and does not approve of him hanging out with Hunters. Or being in missions or engaging in dangerous activities in general. She is also very expressive and opinionated, which makes Before's conformist ways frustrating for her. More often than not, she will make her displeasure about something known and offer a solution with full expectation that Before will do something about it. Which of course may not be immediately fulfilled if it will cause some issues with the other Hunters given Before's preference to go down the path of no resistance.

However, she's not particularly aggressive and is glad that Before has been curbing his hit-first-think-later tendency.

Why did your human character choose to become a Hunter? Solo
Milton wasn't looking for answers, or revenge but he was looking for a place where he could belong. He wanted to be with those who knew, who understood, who actually took all the weird s**t he'd seen all his life seriously. When he learned that such a group exists, Milton wasted no time in joining. He regrets nothing. (Except maybe killing all those people during training /;A;/ Oh God, I'm so sorry!)

Weapon Ability
Having been a Devil Shield, Vanna's natural ability to hover allows Before to carry her with little to no difficulty.

Fast and Furious - The Eye
When thrown, Vanna can increase her size to act as a counterbalance, increasing Before's accuracy.

High Roller - Battle Cry
She gains additional heft, allowing Before to hit harder.

Misty Eyed

- Mist Hunters are the toughest division by far to be in. They are expected to continuously update themselves with all the other division duties, though to a lesser extent, for example, if working with the Death Division, they would also be expected to gather intel, but perhaps not know as well the extent of why they are doing it
- Because of their jack-of-all-trades role, Mist Hunters are required to be extremely flexible in their schedules. They are the division that the other divisions call in when one member in their dispatch team is missing. They are the division that have the ability to "fill in" for other divisions.
- Mist Hunters, due to their experience in all the other divisions, are excellent solo operators. If there are solo missions, usually a Mist Hunter is the first person to be dispatched, as they have the ability to understand all aspects of the division, not just heavily focus on one, and execute a small mission from beginning to completion with the most success. Because of their resourcefulness, Mist Hunters also are extremely valued in Deus Ex Machina, but few trainees graduate to being a Mist Hunter
- It is by far, required of Mist Hunters to learn all the activities of the other divisions. Instead, they simply must be prepared for the fact that they may need to learn extra roles and duties, or assume a filler-in role when the time is needed. While fast learning and adaptability is often an asset for their division, several Mist Hunters often begin to focus a little more on a couple of divisions.
- Lastly, Mist Hunters are often proud of their adaptability and resilience: because of this, they are also known as the special-ops division.

Life Sentence

-The research and analysis division. Life Hunters not only do research on the samples and information given by the Death Division but also help develop, maintain, reinforce, and often "patch up" security on Deus itself, as well as new Hunter equipment.
- Life Hunters are the experimental division, their pride comes from their scientific approach to missions and even day-to-day Deus Ex Machina operations. They are also well-balanced in terms of power, but may focus more towards the healing and damage over time/slow/sapping poisons abilities in terms of battle.
- While not entirely necessary, many Life Hunters are trained in equipment maintenance, research, as well as helping with large projects, such as a re-modelling of the Weapons Conversion Apparatus, the Merlin 2.0 project, the Golem projects, the list goes on and on. The best Life Hunters are the ones that have been trained in such research.
- In addition, it is said that the Life Hunter division also plays a large role in the medical aspect of Deus Ex Machina, focusing more on healing over first aid maintenance, though it is usually recommended as a last minute resort...
