Before looked at the checklist Aria had given him. He intended to check them all off or die trying! (Hopefully it wouldn't have to come to that.) With his interview with Harrison completed, there was the matter of interviewing more of his fellow hunters. But who else? And from which division? Moon was definitely out, having covered that with Harrison, which left Death, Sun, Life, and Mist.
Randomly, he brought out his phone and randomly started checking through until he spied a name that stood out. "Deryk." Before was absolutely certain he had heard that name before. But for the life of him he couldn't remember.
Welp! Time to remedy that! And who knows, Deryk might be from one of the four other divisions. And if not, well, he'll figure out how come he was familiar. Everyone wins! Wait, no, ********, Before needed something to offer in consolation! Scrounging in his personal stash of food, (kept in a plastic sealed container hidden in his closet) the Mist pulled out an unopened bag of chips. So it wasn't his usual baked goods (supplies are low) and it was his favorite flavor but "This is for a good cause." Before assured himself and sent the text.Blade Kuroda Text to DerykHiyo! This is Before. I totes remember you but can't figure out from where. Is it okay to meet in the cafeteria? I have potato chips OwO

With everything that had been going on as of late, Deryk was in a little bit of a haze. Meandering through the halls, he paused as he heard his phone go off. Checking it, he stared as he received a text from Before. The name was familiar, but he hadn't really hung around with him all the much. In any case, he wondered what he wanted. At least there were chips. Huni Pi Text to BeforeOh uh, sure. Be right there, yes. After sending that off, he went ahead to make his way to the cafeteria. Hopefully this wouldn't be for something weird.

Before was just finishing up bussing a recently cleared table when he got the message from Deryk. He beamed at the response and gave the bag of chips a thankful pat and reached for the pad of paper where his questions were written. He prayed, silently, fervently, that the mysteriously familiar hunter was not a Moonie.Blade Kuroda Text to DerykYay! I'm the guy at the upper right table holding a bag of chips OwO

It was Before's lucky day then. For Deryk was definitely no Moon. Checking his phone again, he soon looked up and around the cafeteria for the guy that matched the description. Ah! There he was. With a faint sort of grin, he made his way over towards the table and sat down. "Oh uh. Hi Before? Bond. Deryk Bond..'s the name," he greeted. He glanced to the chips for a moment, then looked back at the other hunter. He was a mist division guy it looked like. "So uh... what's the occasion?"

When a Death hunter marched up to him and identified himself as Deryk, Before indeed thought it was his lucky day! Yay! 8D He offered his hand in introduction, pushing forward the bag of chips with the other, "Yeah, I'm Before. I still don't recognize you or remember why I think I should know, but hey, as long as it's not because you ran over a pet of mine, I'm coo~ totes coo~ with starting from scratch," the Mist laughed.
"Ahem, anyhoo, while you're here anyway, mind if I ask you a few questions? Nothing super deep, just stuff liiiiiike," he brought out his phone, tapping on the keys until he brought up the voice recording program, "Name, Rank, Division, aaaaand what are your thoughts on being in the Death division?" OwO
Ambush interview? Maybe. The look on the Mist's face was more hopeful than desperate, suggesting that if this was too personal, the Deather was free to refuse. And still keep the chips. What? Before was generous like that.

Grinning a little, Deryk settled down and waited to hear what Before wanted. A few questions? That shouldn't be a problem, though he soon froze a bit as this almost sounded like the start of an interrogation. The trainee looked at the other a little warily, not sure what this was all about. "Er... Deryk Bond... Intermediate.. Death," he started before shifting a bit, "Um. ImnotintroubleamI?"He seemed to be legitly concerned right about now, and he was a little afraid to say much more until he had more information on what was happening here.

Teal eyes blinked, not really expecting that sort of question. Vanna gently suggested that her bonded prepare a better explanation the next time he asked someone he wasn't entirely familiar with. Or in this case someone he was just meeting for the first time.
With the phone still recording, Before tilted his head, brows furrowing in mild confusion. "Uh, iunno, are you? This is just a random interview, though. Gonna ask one from each division, I mean I got my Moon down already, and figured since you're Death, I could get your thoughts on your division?"

"O-oh.. ok.."Deryk grimaced a bit and looked at Before with uncertainty again. After a little bit, he decided that it was safe to keep talking. "I.. Always liked gathering information. Boss is tough. Very tough, yes. But like it here otherwise. Wouldn't be elsewhere, no," he said. It was true really. Caelius was pretty much the main thing he didn't really like about his division.

Before looked visibly relieved that Deryk was going to continue, "Thanks! I totes appreciate this! Heck, the next time I go grocery shopping, you want me to get you anything? No major appliances or major purchases in general though," he joked awkwardly, "A-anyway, as a Death Hunter, do you have any difficulty working with other divisions? Or with others in general?"

"Oh? Uh... um.. I like mountain dew. Or coffee. Either or works really," Deryk noted, lightening up a little. Though, he soon furrowed his brow at the next question. "Ah.. not particularly no. Only if others act like they wanna pound my face in, yes. General? No. Certain people...? Y-yes."Like Rep. That guy intimidated him, as much as he'd rather not it be the case.

"Haw! I seriously thought you were gonna say you preferred Martinis, shaken not stirred!" Before laughed for a moment and immediately looked sheepish, "But uh, sure, mountain dew or coffee. Any particular blend or variant?" Before was jotting this down on a separate page on his pad of paper, hopefully he was going to edit this interview.
Hopefully.
"So how do you deal with that sort of conflict? I mean with the whole face-pounding thing?"

Deryk laughed at that actually, managing to loosen up a little more. "Anything's fine. Just make sure its caffeinated. None of that decafe stuff. Yes," he noted. He soon furrowed his brow and scratched his head. "Back away. Retreat. Though. Guess if they actually started hitting me.. would fight back, yes. Would rather not start fight though if possible, no," he said while shaking his head.

Before nodded, at both the rejection of decaf and the means Deryk used. "I like the way you operate," he beamed, giving a toothy grin, "Aaaand final question, this is kinduva iffy given some of the s**t we recently went through and knowing the kind of s**t we usually go through," he sucked in his breath, as if bracing himself when he finally asked, "How do you deal when someone you know, someone important to you, passes away during a Mission?" Whatever lively energy Before might have been extruding, it was snuffed at this question.

The faint smile Deryk had faded at that last question. Fidgeting a bit, he lowered his head and shook it slowly. "...Dun really know. Hadn't really happened to me yet. Not really sure how I'd take that sorta thing, no.." he uttered quietly. There wasn't someone like Killzone on the island anymore, where someone could go to in the case they're having issues. And so he wasn't really sure how people would cope in general.

Before nodded wordlessly, less vigorous and less animated but he nodded all the same. "Sorry to end with such a downer, Deryk, I uh know I've, like, got one of the worst cases of foot-in-mouth disease on the island, but-"
Suddenly it hit him.
"OMIGAWD YOUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!" he declared, jumping to his feet and pointing in sudden excitement.
