Oh hai training fields, there was a familiar face hanging around, swinging his weapon at the dummies and getting hit with a stray prop sword because he didn't duck fast enough. Rubbing the side of his face, Before waited until he finished blinking away the pain-induced tears before tightening his grip on Vanna and suddenly charging at his target. Awwww yis! He connected with a satisfying crack as his wheel slammed into the training dummy.
It felt good to hit things. That weren't alive. And maybe FEAR-filled but that was a case-by-case thing. Before wasn't sure if he could ever bring himself to hit a certain pixelating Halloweener with DEM BOOBS and DAT a** *w* Resting Vanna on top of his shoulder, the Misty decided this was a good time to catch his breath. His lungs were beginning to burn.

Marcus didn't talk much to Before. It wasn't because of dislike, or because of something from the trials. No, Marcus just didn't hang out with him, that was all. Different divisions and different circles didn't always cross, minus the larger missions where they all were required to go. So when Marcus saw a certain ex Beta training, he wasn';t sure to ask or not. After about 3 seconds, like usual, Marcus said ******** it and went over. "Hey Before." He waved at him, wondering if the guy would be up for it. "If you're not to worn out, mind doing a spar with with me? The hunter who was going to train with me today got called out for a mission, so I need to get my practice in elsewhere today."

Before turned his whole torso towards the voice, teal eyes eventually recognizing the newly arrived Intermediate Moonie as Marcus. "Oh, heya!" he greeted back with a wave of his free hand while the other casually lowered Vanna in front of him. Not that he thought the other Intermediate trainee would just attack him out of the blue or anything but. Well. Training field. Everyone was a target there.
At the request, Before was about to politely refuse when his partner hissed at him to accept. Something to do with toughening himself up emotionally as well as physically. Besides, if things got way out of hand, Vanna suggested Before could always casually bring up the extent of things with a certain female Misty.That... sounds suspiciously like tattling, Vanna... Before mentally frowned. In the back of his mind, a face wrought from metal gave a mental shrug.
"Uh, s-sure, no prob."

Awesome. Wheel boy was cool with a little head to head. Hopefully, he'd not hold back, Marcus needed someone to show him up every so often. That and defense was nothing he was a master of quite yet, (he doubted he ever would be but hey, he could dreams and practice right?). Dis said something about him being a masochist again which was promptly ignored.
"Cool. I've only seen you fight with your weapon a few times, so this will be interesting. It's not a common weapon you know?" Blade in hand, the moon trainee got into a defensive position. "Now, come at me." Marcus was supposed to take hits, and this was just how to start a training battle off.
(He can go first~))

This was really awkward for Before. He wasn't used to sparring with someone he wasn't familiar with and he had to be the one to make the first move. "She did, um, does take some getting used to when it comes to fighting with her. Ain't intuitive-like with yours, I'm betting..." he began sheepishly and took a tentative swing at Marcus.

The weapon hit him and he staggered back. Okay, take one to give give one. Marcus needed to get better at blocking and countering and with what he guessed was a purely physical weapon like Before's this was just what he needed. "Ah, all weapons are like that I think. It's not like anyone came knowing we knew how to use what. A wheel probably just seems more difficult due to the fact it's not one people would think about." Having a curved sword was awesome, never mind the fact that it was a pain in the a** when fighting against certain other swords.
Still, Before was being a bit timid. "And come on, I want you to really come at me.

DDDDDDDD8 "B-but I'm not really. I don't." The Misty was having performance anxiety. Obviously. It looked like it was up to his partner to urge him forward. The weapon made a suggestion on where to hold her the next time he swung and she promised if he missed it wouldn't be his fault.
So hop to it, silly Before!
Which he did. Literally. Rather than lunging forward with a downward strike, Before bunny-hopped towards Marcus and diagonally slashed at him with his wheel's spikes.

What was with this guy? This was a sparring match not some- tea party. But if the guy kept acting like it was some kind of game he- Fine. He could play like that. Just needed to find out how. "Really? That's it?" The attack had been good, but just- really? Hopping over to him? Come on man that was just sad. "Did you learn all your fighting skills from Saturday morning cartoons or something?" Moving to hit him with the hilt of his blade Marcus scowled. "This is a fight. Make it a fight."

 There were many reasons why Before should never be a Sunny. That wounded look he was giving Marcus? Like the Moonie had just kicked a box of kittens? It was plastered on Before's face. From the instance the hilt of Marcus' sword connected with the Misty, to when he made the audibly indignant declaration of "You asked for a spar. That's totes different from a fight!" to Before using an extended knee as a torque in trying to slam Vanna's broadside against the Moonie. That puppy-dog-eyes and utter DO-NOT-WANT-ness never left his face. Kind of ironic given how he also put most of his weight in the blow.

Box of kittens? Kicked. Puppies? Also to be kicked. "A spar is a fight in some ways, but you need to come at me." He didn't come to argue about definitions but- "and seriously, don't look like I just pissed in your cornflakes man just-" He sighed. Before really, just- Wow okay, that one? That got him. At least he could hit. Coughing, Marcus took a step back. "That's what I want, come at me bro." He grinned. "I mean, you can't suck as bad as Bix."

Before was actually more than willing to split-hairs and go into long arguments of semantics. Very more than willing. Except his left eye twitched at Marcus' last sentence. The former-Lifer-now-Misty practically marched up to the tall Moonie (yes, EVERYONE was tall compared to Before. Except Gale. But Marcus was not Gale) and glared up at him >8[ "Dude. You take that back about my Bro." His voice was even but there was an odd edge to it. All signs of good humor and anxious self-consciousness was gone from the tight lines of his face.
And then he promptly kicked Marcus in the shin.

Marcus's face went from 'come at me bro' to 'the ******** is your problem?' He gave s**t about Bix all the time. This was nothing abnormal. And then Before just- kicked him in the ******** shin... seriously? The hell was maturity? Oh right.
They had none.
"Why should I? Bix sucks. I'm just saying the facts." He slashed up and out. "Get over it."

Before had been too busy glaring up (dear deity-of-your-choice-here, why must nearly everyone on this ******** island have to be taller than Before) at his opponent to realize Marcus' weapon's sudden rising. He felt, rather than saw the blow, the blade digging into Vanna's FEAR shield so deep the Misty could practically feel the curved steel sink into his skin. The blow sent the shorter trainee sprawling on his back.
"Bix. Does. NOT. Suck!" Before growled angrily from the ground. The runes on his weapon began to glow and when he got to unsteady feet, they flashed as Before ran up to Marcus with a wide swing. Did Before just attempt to use his weapon's charge?
HP: 36

Effect: Target subtracts -4 instead of -6 for the next 4 rounds.

Geez what was with Before did he have some kind of man crush on- Oh. wait. s**t he was all about that Beta crap wasn't he? Groaning Marcus rolled his eyes. ******** stupid.
Marcus. Be alert.
The moon trainee noticed the charge before stepping out of the way. "You're ******** nuts." He'd gone from whimpering blubber to pissed off blubber. Awesome. Good job self. "Get over it. Why bother defending him anyway, it's not like I don't give him s**t all the time." Swinging again, he aimed at the arms, hoping to knock the weapon off balance.

The added heft and size to Vanna helped Before's FEAR shield absorb most of Marcus' attack, but it still sent him stumbling back. But rather than fight the momentum, Before followed the direction right into a spin, pivoting on the ball of one foot while the other planted itself towards the Moonie. "Ah, yeah, ******** no. Why don't you get over whatever the ******** reason you have for giving him s**t. When he's not around to defend himself," Before snarled through grit teeth. And continuing with his spin, he aligned the spikes on Vanna's wheel to hit Marcus just so as he arced her skywards.
