"This mission is not in Halloween so no, there will be no need for Golems." Caelius decided, as per usual, to omit out the details as to why. He sat back down and sighed, one hand on his forehead, distracted. "Marcus. I don't even know why I have to deal with the general incompetence of everyone here. However, I believe it would be beneficial to everyone if we had a hands-on experience. Some bonding time."
If by bonding the Death Hunter leader meant their very possible and imminent death then yes, this would definitely be a lively bonding experience. Though he muttered it, in such a small room, it was very hard not to hear the "Fifty percent trainee survival quota post mission. ******** impossible rules."
Before any trainees could ask any more questions, his cell phone began to hum.
"Is the connection point established then?" A pause and then Caelius closed the phone, expression unreadable. "We're heading out then after I explain the debriefing. As trainees I really do not expect you to do much, more of an observation mission, and perhaps some simple manual labour. We will be investigating the site where we believe a H-" The Death Hunter caught himself - "unusual Fear activity caused a rather unfortunate scenario. We are going to a disaster zone left behind by a Fear-infested creature. Though it has retreated, it has left quite a.... mess behind. We will be retrieving some to bring back as samples."
He looked at all those seated in the room. "I will expect you trainees to take care of yourself, however I do have a proposal. A 'team' system." Blank stares came from around the room. "You will be teaming up with each other, I would prefer the more experienced trainees with the new ones, in groups of two."
A couple of faces look excited, and Caelius was more than happy to quell it. "I will assign the groups. He took out a pencil and paper. Now, if you new trainees could all, one at a time, let me know your name and division."
OOC - Now is a good time for the new trainees to introduce themselves, but just a bit!

Deryk's eyes widened as he heard the little bit about the survival rate. Fifty-percent was not.. very ideal at all. Granted, it could be worse, but at the same time, those odds meant that half the people in this room was going to die. That was a lot of people!
Though, the prospect of a buddy system did seem a little better. Maybe that would help increase their odds a bit. Well, unless his partner ended up being Otto. Then, they were both probably screwed.
"Uh... Deryk Bond. Death." he told Caelius. He nearly went on with the whole Bond, Deryk Bond thing, but he remembered that advice Candace gave him. And indeed, Cael did not seem like the guy to be amused with that sort of thing. Not at all. In fact, he kind of felt that this guy might be a little more scary than Dr. H.

Dakota didn't shrink in his seats from the other trainee's stares, obviously he knew that he caused a commotion but seeing as he was still alive and well, in one piece. Plus Caelius had moved on, He didn't worry about it. It was like a fleeting memory already.
He had no idea what his weapon was talking about before hearing her low chuckle again. Shrugging he got up and began his introduction.
"My name is Dakota Rainstar, Moon Division." He kept it simple. Hope to be paired with one of the hot ladies. Though he didn't say that out loud.
He grinned at his weapon, patting her sheathe.

Fifty percent.
ONLY fifty...percent... Oh you had got to be kidding. Narrowing her eyes, she glanced around the room pondering this. That would mean logically they would need to bring in more hunters than they lost... the numbers were not that great. How many humans were there whom could see ghosts? Not a whole lot when they seem to call the ones that can crazy...
Hush your thoughts and announce yourself. Being last is dishonorable to us both.
"Ceres Kentley, Moon Division." She called out, looking towards Dakota with a curious gaze. Would it be stupid to give a friendly wave? They were on the same team, so she guessed introductions could come later. She was glad there was more than one 'Moonie' in this group, or at least the newbies. Death seemed to be the most abundant, if the backs of their coats were any indicator.

Having slept through at least five alarms, Reine appeared at the doorway with her hair pulled into a messy ponytail. It seemed everyone had reached before her, and she crouched, trying to sneak into the room without getting noticed.
She barely caught the end of Caelius' speech, which left her wondering what the groups were for... Well, better to get introductions over and done with.
"Reine Walker, life hunter."
Now that was done... she settled back into her seat, looking for someone she could bother to get the details she'd missed.

Eva frowned, leaning forward as Caelius described some of the details of the mission. Bringing back samples? Of what, I wonder? What kind of...'Fear-infested creature' was this?
I guess we'll find out.
As for the buddy system? That sounded fine and dandy with Eva, especially since she thought that it would be good to be paired up with a more experienced trainee. God knows she needed the guidance.
Her eyes lit up when Reine entered the room, but she didn't call a greeting to the other girl, not wanting to call attention to the fact that she had been late. Instead, once Reine was done introducing herself, Eva was the next to stand up. "I'm Eva Valente, Death Division." Quick and easy, and then she sat back down.

Gale remained silent for most of the questioning and answering from the trainees around him, idly rubbing his temple with one gloved finger. The inquiries were all ones he was wondering himself, but he had not really felt a desire to ask them. Since they were being replied to in a typical Caelius way, he felt quite content sitting there and listening to the others, especially since his mind was still miles away.
At least until Caelius slammed both hands down on the table. That effectively jerked Gale out of his inner musings, his eyes sliding around towards the dark haired hunter who he didn't know and Wilson.
They just get a start - I get a scythe. How is that fair?
<< You sort of questioned Caelius' authority. That, and it was in the heat of battle. >>
Oops. I forgot that part.
...a partner system? They had never really done a partner system before. Hunters and their weapons were partners of a sort, after all. But he supposed they all had to get to learn to work along with each other, now that there were new trainees involved.
"Deryk Bond. Death."
<< Look - another toy for Caelius to play with. >>
Gale snorted. I wonder who the others are - I know Eva is one, she mentioned it before. But I don't know who of the others will be in our division. Whatever the case -
This'll be interesting.

Huh... Fifty percent chance? For some reason, Ryan was not surprised to hear those odds. In fact, if anything he had expected it would be worse. If you really thought about, life was a 50/50 deal. Anything could go either way no matter what the odds. Still, it would have been better if they were slightly higher.
:I wonder who our partner will be...:
Right and then there was that too, rather than the odds, the only thing he was worried about was if his partner was tolerable or not.
"Ryan O'Conner, Moon Division." He answered like the others, but left it at that.

Fifty percent? That was impossible? He almost began to sink in his seat. Bonding time meant approximately half of the trainees dying? Yeah, that was an excellent plan. What little mission details Caelius courteously offered didn’t sound all too interesting, but maybe it was because he didn’t quite know what ‘fear-infested’ meant, and that interruption mid-sentence seemed suspicious, but Wilson didn’t know what it implied.
More partners? He hadn’t been expecting that, especially from Caelius—he barely knew the Death hunter, but Wilson figured he had a pretty decent impression. Next to him, Ryan briefly introduced himself and immediately followed, “Wilson Hopkins. Death division.” Wilson glanced around the room to look at the older trainees, wondering who he would be paired with.

She would have to have a proper introduction with the woman, Ceres later when they weren't all caught up in this meeting--and possibly when..if they arrived back from this mission.
Near whistling at the percentage given for chance of survival, Kat brushed a strand of hair clear of her face. Well, I guess we get to jump right in. At least we'll have a partner to back us up.
:Yeah, someone who actually has experience. Try not to get yourself killed. It only creates more problems for me.:
For now, they would have to put their trust in their partners to show them the ropes, and help them survive this mission. Its not like she could get mad at them if she was dead anyways. Best to just enjoy the ride.
Releasing her hold on her legs, she let the slide back down until her feet were firmly planted on the floor again. Looking from each new trainee as they introduced themselves, she figured she better do the same.
"Katherine Taylor, Sun Division. Pleasure to be working with you."

Normally master Cael droned on about things and ridiculed their existence, guess some things never change even after a short rest. Leon didn't even bat an eye as the leader slammed his hands on the table in his dramatic fashion. Yep, same old things.
However the talk of a 50% survival rate did cause his eye to twitch in contemplation and straighten up in his chair, clearly it was time to pay close attention. Groups were being assigned this time. the joy. A mission where it was a coin flip to survive or not. What was the upper echelons of this compound thinking? Not to mention sending new recruits straight into this mission, it was preposterous.
He Listened on quietly as the fresh pod people did their role call, and he couldn't help but feel bad that for some, it might be their last, himself included. It was like the Death squad recruits were being marked for murder.

<Hm... this is interesting. Very interesting. I wonder what left the fear, that'll be fun to find out.... though I'm not sure about those odds.... and you being all skittish. Shame there's not an opt out option. OH Well~ you better not die on me Al.>
Aleister stopped and was staring at the spiky key chain in almost horror. "Aleister Oleander. Death." He answered when he heard the call to introduce themselves. He'd been listening to pookie ramble and then watching as people introduced themselves.... This was going to be a long mission.

Woah, deadly Mission. Only half these punks would survive? Heck, maybe he'd die to. Otto seemed oddly indifferent to the news.
Introductions were called for, and Otto refused to be the first person to go. He waited, waited, longer.. Okay now is fine.
"Otto Graves; Death Division."

Deryk Bond, Eva Valente, Wilson Hopkins, Aleister Oleander, Otto Graves.
Five new Death Hunters - so far, at least. Three of whom Gale didn't know at all, one of whom Gale already knew and liked, and one of which Gale was uncertain as to whether he should grin, groan, or just roll his eyes at.
He settled for giving Otto a raise of his eyebrow, the look in his eyes and the faintest hint of an irritated smile on his face clearly saying something along the lines of Look who gets to be in the same Division?

Perhaps this was a good time for Before to attempt a stealthy sneak-in since mostly everyone's attention was on someone or another. Particulalry someone who wasn't the Life Hunter trainee...
