Candace was not going to feel overwhelmed; she refused to let herself feel pressured by being one of the few who were currently the 'highest ranking' hunters on the island. The leaders had left them in charge! Last time Candace had some kind of power she abused the hell out of it and ******** herself over royally; she intended to not let that happen again. But what could they do as Mist? There were so few of them, and the other divisions were off dividing and conquering. Candace gave the two trainees beside her a glance and hummed thoughtfully. There had to be more trainees than just the...three..of them. ...Ugh. She didn't want to include Before as a Mist trainee. ******** that. It was too early to wake up Lance, and without him or Aria they couldn't get into the Mist Lounge so that settled that dilemma. They'd have to get by without it. Perhaps they could just...train? While the others goofed off? While normally Candace would love to just play and goof off when they were basically given a day off she refused to look like a slacker. "...Aren't there finally a couple new Mist trainees or something? I saw a girl I didn't recognize at the gala." Candace mused aloud to her peer..s... "We should go find them and let them know what's going on. And we can show them the ropes while we're at it, catch them up on what they've missed." Candace grinned, reaching into her pocket and scrolling through her contacts. Ah, there they were! Mallaidh Finn and Emmaline Grant? Those names were new, that had to be them. "How aboooout we meet them outside the dorms. That's an easy enough place to find." She was already writing out a text to send to the both of them as she said this. She hit send and paused a moment, frowning. "Have either of you seen Tika lately? One of us should text her, too."Lucyal Hello! This is Candace, a fellow Mist trainee. Would love to meet you outside the dormitory! <3 Soliloquy in Aria Hello! This is Candace, a fellow Mist trainee. Would love to meet you outside the dormitory! <3

Cass had never had responsibility before. It was an interesting development, to suddenly have like.. ..work..that wasn't training to do. Not that they could work the base without finding out where Lance slept and harassing him awake. Somehow, she imagined he wouldn't like that all that much and would punch her in the face.
He had big buff arms. She imagined he'd be very capable of punching her in the face. She didn't need to try and test that theory. Still, Cass, unlike Candace, was much more willing to talk at Before as their newest Mist-y. Ohhh yes, he was their ickle widle misty, d'awwwwwwwwwww. Even though he was probably older than she was. Not a hard feat, only a few hunters managed to not beat her at that task.
"Well, yes." Cass reached over to pinch Before's cheek in emphasis to her answer to Candace's question. "I think I've seen a couple new faces..plus I know Tika has been mulling about with her own stuff as well." she added, looking to Before - she knew the boy would have Tika's contact - she'd seen him relatively friendly with the girl.
"Want to message Tika to come join us too? Then we can have a proper mist-pow-wow." She seemed excited enough about that, to be honest. "And maybe fill people in on Lance and the..thing.." she had this tendency to skirt around calling it the 'base', as though she wasn't sure if she should drop that word out in...open air.

"Ah, has she? I hope she's okay~." Candace sounded sincere as she said this. "I'll leave Tika to you, Before." She added, finally acknowledging the idiot even existed.
She chuckled as they walked along and Cass mentioned Lance, pulling her coat tighter around her to block out the cold as best as she could. "I could've sworn we were in the Bahamas. Jesus christ. Yeah filling them in on the lounge'll be fine, I think. Aria would want them to know? And they get to not be woken at one in the morning about it." She gave a small laugh, stopping just outside of the dorms and giving a sigh. She should've said inside. Damn. Too late now.

Cass had to agree about the chill in the air to a certain extent, trying to not shiver and seem like a complete putz.
"So what do you think the chances of someone not destroying something are....?" she asked, trying to sound like she was joking but...it was hard to not be when she knew how things seemed to roll around this place. It was...all disaster. Never not.
Never ever not.
"That's true. Still, we'll need to stress the hush-hush about it.. because Aria did make a point to tell us about it at one in the morning....and there may be a reason for why that was." Part of her wondered if she waited until she was sure she was going to keep the two trainees to tell them...or rather, they'd been the only ones told because of their..merit?
She wasn't sure. Whichever.
Still, a little bit of information couldn't hurt.

Mallaidh “Molly” Finn had been just jotting down current events at her desk when her cell phone went off. Oh, a text message! There was a bit of excitement as she flipped the phone open, and then just downright glee upon seeing the message. A fellow Mist division trainee wanted to meet her? That just brightened her mood considerably!
Thus, as quickly as she could, Molly pulled on her boots, slipped on her coat, tied her scarf, and was out the door and down the hall until she arrived outside, easily spotting the Mists that were there already. “Hello!” She greeted as she bounded down the stairs, curls bouncing with every step. “I’m Molly Finn! It’s a pleasure to meet you all!” She beamed at who had gathered so far, and noted their more intricate coats. Ooh…higher level hunters…

"Given this place's track record? I'd say the chances of something not being destroyed in some way are point zero zero zero one." Candace snorted, giving a sigh shortly after. Despite that she supposed she couldn't entirely hate the things that went on here; it kept it all interesting to say the least.
Cass had a point though...did even Before know about the Lounge? Maybe if they just...hinted at it. Or alluded to it. She didn't like just leaving them completely in the dark, she hated when it was done to her. It didn't seem fair. "I suppose...I guess when Aria comes back we can check with her, but I don't think just mentioning it off-handed and..I don't know...mysteriously." Candace even added a ridiculous hand motion with wiggly fingers and everything. She would admit even for her that was really stupid, like the time she called Jerry a goat that H the troll was going to eat.
She was still ashamed of that joke.
An unfamiliar voice called out, introducing herself as Molly Finn? Eh? Candace blinked and turned on her heel to see who it was. Oh! The girl from the gala! Okay...oh my god. Candace's eyes widened.
She's so ******** adorable look at her hair oh my god I want to pet it can I tug the girls do they spring back into place OH MY GOD CAN I MAKE SOUND EFFE-- A sharp voice in her head cut her off and she blushed. Right. Right. Heh. Calm.
"Nice to meet you, Molly dear. I'm Candace. And this is Cass," She gestured to the girl beside her. "And...Before..." While there was a bit of hesitation she did eventually introduce the boy. Ugh. Whyyyy, H. Whyyyy?! "We figured we'd take this chance to meet you annnnnd Emmaline? While the leaders are away on a mission. They've left the intermediates in charge, basically."
Suddenly she realized something. The fog..it was lighter than it usually was. She frowned. "..Do you guys smell peppermint?"

"Mmm, I think that would be safe, to just..mention there is one, and then follow up with Lance or Aria about how much we're allowed to share with the others.. since y'know, we can't be the only two they need checking in on stuff." she seemed to agree this was a safe course of action.
And then came Molly with her lovely hair and generally being adorable in her own way.
"Aha! So this is our new girl!" Cass beamed brightly enough, waving to their newest addition - she didn't count Before as new, really. He'd transferred in, from what she could guess, so he'd been around long enough to not be 'new' anymore. "More girls, never not girls~" she laughed, then pinched Before's cheek again. "Though now we have two unicorns." she added thoughtfully, even if Lance would always be Cass's unicorn.
Deep in her heart, there was no room for anybody else to be that unicorn.
"It's nice to meetcha, Molly! As Candace was already nice enough to say, I'm Cassandra, you can call me Cass, Cassie, Chuck, Hey-you, and 'Pay more attention'..that one is Nicodemus's favorite, but yeah!" she grinned, as it seemed Candace had the entire breakdown of what was happening summarized.
Good good.
However...like the older Intermediate trainee, Cass's nose was starting to burn. "Yeah, it...definitely pepperminty."

A sharp beep broke through the dream she was having-- something vague and dark, she couldn't remember-- and blearily Emmaline reached for the phone on her desk. She was surprised. It had been less than a day since she'd settled in at the dorms. How had this Candace gotten her number?
She dragged herself out of bed reluctantly, limbs still bearing a hint of the ache from when she had last woken up in the pods, and walked to the chair in front of the closet that held the jacket and scarf she had received the day before. Donning the jacket and draping the scarf around her shoulders, she put on the bracelet that Sakiel had morphed into and headed down the hall. He was being ominously reticent, and she wasn't sure if it was her fault or just his personality.
In the stairwell, she could feel a cold breeze and the murmur of voices from outside-- something about peppermint. As she stepped outside, she saw three girls wearing jackets that bore patterns like her own. So these were the other mist hunters? There were so little? She couldn't remember seeing anyone else with the same cloud pattern around the hallways.
"Hello, I'm Emmaline." She spoke hesitantly, feeling like she was interrupting, and smoothed the ruffled fabric beneath her jacket nervously.

"That's so weird..." Candace frowned, huddling in her coat more out of discomfit than anything else now. "Maybe we should hear inside now, we can keep an eye out for Emma--" A voice introducing themself cut her off and she looked around until she found her.
Oh my god she is so adorable! Candace squealed to herself inside the safety of her own mind. She grinned. "Hello, Emmaline! Welcome to the club~. It's nice to meet you, I'm Candace. And this is Cassandra, or Cass, and Before..annnnd Molly, yeah?" Cute. Candace shivered a bit. "Let's head inside out of the cold now that you two are here. We can talk more inside."
Plus Candace couldn't ignore the feeling of dread any longer. She wanted o try and get away from it.

It seemed Candace thought everybody was adorable, at least from what Cass could read of her body language. But none the less, she had to agree with stepping inside. She lifted a hand, waving to Emmaline. "Hullo!" she greeted as friendly like as she could (and for Cass, being friendly was just what she did), before she moved to open the door inside again. "Let's step inside for a little bit, yeah. It's..getting chillier out here than I anticipated." she agreed.
Though she couldn't help but feel like it meant something else.
"Nice to meetcha, Emmaline. It's nice to be seeing some more Mists around. It seems like there are so few of us around." she lamented, looping her thumb into the chain of Nicodemus.

Candace didn't think EVERYONE was adorable just a lot of people okay shut up don't judge her she likes due things! ):
She also liked going inside and not freezing to death. Yay!
"Mm! It's been just three of us as far as I'm aware. If you've got any questions don't hesitate to ask us, okay?" Candace grinned, cupping her hands around her mouth and blowing into them in attempt to warm them faster. "Goddamn! Was it even this cold the day we had snow?" The fog seemed different somehow too. Strange how they could grow accustomed to something like that.

"I don't think it was..but..... I don't remember much about those days to be honest..." she remembered making a snowman with Otto and Marcus long into the dark of night like it was some sort of obsession...and getting attacked by presents...
and sparkles
and the sound of bells
and.... ..... ....
"Yeah, I guess this is the coldest it's been since I can remember." she finally agreed, the dilation in her pupils betraying just how far into the memory of Joy and less-dreary days she'd just gone. And then there was a loud explosion from inside the building, Cass's head whipping up to look towards it.

Before had been keeping quiet and trying to pretend he wasn't there. He was successful to a degree, given how it took some time before Candace acknowledge his existence. Something the former Lifer was unsure if it was a good or a bad thing. Being told to inform Tika of the gathering, however, led to this particular train of thought: 833333!!!! Talk to Tika! -> O.O N-no, TEXT Tika! -> DDDDDX Gotta be cool. Gotta be suave. Gotta sound like I sorta-kinda-like-her-but-not-be-ultra-creepy-McCreeperson-about-it!
And so when he sent the text he seemed to have over-thought on, all it would read was:Chobi_Chocobo Hi Tika! Hi! MISTIES ASSEMBLE!!! Near the dorms. ((ooc: Chobs, I know you won't be able to join and Eight FYI'd me that ic-lly Tika slept through the text)) And that was when he started to notice the little things going on. By little he meant the chill, the odd anxiety in the atmosphere as Candace and Cassandra spoke, and that faint scent of peppermint. Two new faces arrived and Before couldn't help but recall his Bro's words how Mist was full of hawties. If that was the case, why was he still chilly?
He tried not to make a face as he let Cassandra pinch his cheeks, which thankfully wasn't a painful experience as his fellow Misty didn't seem intent on ripping the flesh off him. As some people were (mostly older relatives with really long, manicured nails). "U-uh, h-hi, Before here. Good to me-"
The explosion cut him off and teal eyes immediately widened as he turned towards the sound. "Weapons out?" he asked, already summoning his wheel.

((Not gonna lie I totally forgot the Moonies were IN the dorms having a noisy battle themselves. 8D)) There came an explosion and Candace's eyes widened. "Cass, how long have the leaders been gone?" Like an hour? Goddamnit! She frowned at Before's suggestion and watched as he went ahead and summoned Vanna. "Perhaps..." She'd hold off on summoning Atropos simply, simply for sake of ease. She wasn't sure how well she could travel with her inside the dorms. "We should go--" A familiar, yet somewhat warped, voice from her phone and the PAs above them cut her off. Son of a b***h! "This is why we can't have nice things." Candace groaned.

Before wondered if whatever it was that had broke past the defenses of the Inner Wards had anything to do with the things Aria had them capture several weeks ago. He hoped it wasn't anything deadly. And he hoped it wasn't one of those freaks. His grip on his wheel's handles tightened as he looked to the others, "To the defensive stations we go then," he swallowed.
