Before didn't know what he was doing back here in the Gym of all places. Oh sure he was trying to get over his issues of having been slaughtered (and a very near repeat of it) in this place but in his defense, being under probation meant he had too much time on his hands. He still felt sore all over from his last fight but it gave him something else to focus on. Lying on his bed, alone in his room, reminded him too much of things he would much rather not think about.
He made a precautionary peek into the facility, making sure a certain dark-haired, purple-eyed trainee wasn't there. When he saw he was alone, he breathed a sigh of relief and walked right into the middle of the room. "I-it's not so bad here..." he declared.

Unlike Before, Gale knew exactly why he was at the gym - to train, of course. Since returning from the mission, he'd spent the better part of his time there, trying to work towards getting better - and so far it hadn't been all that successful, though he'd had a few good runs.
Except when he arrived he found someone else there - someone that he wasn't really sure about anymore, though Bix had explained to Gale the reasoning behind Before's sudden change of face during the mission. It still made Gale rather uneasy around the older Hunter, however, since he'd seen a side of Before he never had before.
He walked up behind the other and peered around him.
"What's not so bad?"

The serene calm Before was hoping to grasp by simply becoming accustomed to being IN the Gym slipped through his fingers. It wasn't so much as having company inasmuch as it's because Before's recent brush with a fellow trainee. It had not ended well, which would explain why when Gale practically snuck up on him, the Life Hunter trainee did the following:
1.) Scream.
1.a) Summon Vanna.
2.) Try to stand.
2.a) Try to run.
2.b) At the same time.
3.) End up sprawled on the ground xAx
Warily, he glanced over his shoulder, letting out a sigh of relief to find, "Oh thank God it's you, After!"

"Er," said Gale, now staring at Before on the ground, lifting his brows in mixed confusion and surprise. He supposed he should have expected the other to...not quite take him arriving the way he had, considering how jumpy Before was. A small smile tugged at Gale's lips, but he quickly extinguished it, holding out a hand to help pull the other to his feet.
"Who'd you think it was, the bogeyman?" he said, rolling his eyes as he hauled Before up.
<< You do know those actually exist, right? >>
There was a slight pause.
"Well, okay, maybe that wasn't the best reference."
Waving a hand, Gale asked "So what brings you to the gym today? Training?"

Before accepted the proffered limb, grumbling and muttering something about how he'd rather face those to be quite honest. "Hrmph, I ended up running into someone who doesn't play well with others the last time I was here..." he visibly winced, indicating that he'd been through the wringer.
When asked about his reason, Before debated on telling Gale the truth. That he was here to become accustomed to the memories and feelings of killing and being killed, even if it all had been through a golem. The pain had been too ******** real. But as he looked at the younger trainee, Before forced a smile instead. "Yeah! Training! Got my a** handed to me. Well, more than normal," he laughed.
The moment he regained his balance, Before let go of Gale's hand and backpedaled. "Know how that happened? b***h totes attacked me without giving me a head's up I was getting into a fight!" 8< "Sorta like this!" he laughed, giving a hefty swing with the summoned wheel. Before honestly thought he'd distanced himself enough from Gale that he didn't think it would hit. Except the spokes collided against a body DDDDDDDDDDD8!!!!!!!

"Oh," said Gale, brows raising in slight confusion. He shrugged, however, and stuck his hands in his pockets, rocking back on his heels. The person Before was talking about wasn't someone Gale was about to ask about; that wasn't any of his business, after all.
Though he was a tad curious.
"I'm pretty sure we all got our arses handed to us," replied Gale with a knowing snort, shaking his head in resignation. "At least, at some point or another - ow!"
Something huge and metal collided with Gale's torso, sending him reeling backwards. It took him a moment to realize just what exactly it was - a wheel; namely Before's wheel.
Gale rubbed his chest. "You know, you're not as bad as you think you are," he said, and then spun the rifle around, jabbing the butt of it into Before's side to push him away.

Before didn't even try to move out of the way as he pulled Vanna to the side. Actually, what he tried to do was step closer to Gale to see how hard he had hit his friend. Until the butt of the younger trainee's rifle sent him stumbling away. :<
"Not bad? Bro, I am terrible at this s**t!" he insisted. "But that's why we're supposed to train and improve, right?" he mused. Clearly, the Life Hunter Trainee was still busy deciding whether or not this was going to become a spar or a fight or a series of him apologizing. He wouldn't mind getting beat up again. It was cool, really, not like there was malice in it, yeah? >.>

"We're all terrible at this s**t," said Gale, straightening and holding the rifle against the groove where his arm slid into his shoulder. Absently he pointed it around, as though targeting something, then lowered it, shrugging a little.
"Just because you do things differently doesn't necessarily mean you suck, though. We're all in the same boat here, aren't we?"
Dropping down abruptly, Gale swung his leg out in a wide arc, knocking Before off of his feet and onto the ground. He wasn't really certain how this had turned into a sparring match, but they were both here to train, weren't they?

Before was sure he was standing up while he and Gale talked shop, so to speak. He was also sure there were no stars winking in front of his eyes. Oh, wait, Gale did one of them fancy leg-sweep things on him. Huh. He was sort of surprised the kid didn't go with the long-range approach. Maybe Gale was giving him a fighting chance! 8DDDDD
D'awwwww <3333 see, this is totally why they were Bros despite needing to beat each other up. Before attempted to spring to his feet, ended up tripping on them instead, the movement sending him forward and smacking Vanna right into Gale's legs in the process.

Really the reason why Gale was not shooting at Before was because he found that it was difficult to shoot a rifle during short-range fighting.
That, and he didn't want to be restricted to only shooting the gun. It had its other uses too, since it was long and metal, and therefore could pack a nice hit on its own, without being fired.
Gale let out a grunt of surprise, feeling the wheel collide with his legs, knocking him backwards. He fell to the floor, his gun spinning away from him, and Gale pushed himself back up, grappling for the rifle.
"Nice hit."

With his face still on the ground, Before simply gave Gale a thumbs up. He got to his knees, spotted the younger trainee scrambling for his weapon, exposing his back, and an idea crossed Before's mind.

He slid forward on his belly, Vanna once again colliding against Gale's legs but the force was more of a tap. Because his main objective was to "TICKLE FIGHT!!!" >8DDDDDDD

Gale's fingers touched the edge of his weapon, closing around the barrel. He felt the heavy metal wheel whack uncomfortably against his legs again, and he was about to turn around and thump Before on the head with his fist -
- at least until he felt hands against his sides.
"WHAT THE HELL, BEFOREEEeeeeeeee - "
Most of Gale's screech of surprise and protest was lost in a fit of laughter, Gale twisting around helplessly. One of his legs shot out, pushing against Before in an attempt to pry the other off of him.

Before had a very good, very sound explanation for why he had gone and tickled Gale. At least, it was good and sound as far as Before was concerned. Things had gotten way too batshit for the teal-eyed trainee and he seriously, seriously needed to hear someone laughing with him instead of at him. Which was why he didn't begrudge Gale for the kick (training aside), in fact he laughed as well as he rubbed the sore spot. Because, yes, getting kicked still hurt.
"Dunno about you, but I feel much better after laughing. 'Sides, I'm good at tickle fights," he chuckled, leaning forward to pick Vanna up while also pulling Gale to his feet. "Come on! Time for us to take this training seriously." He smiled, taking several quick steps backwards right into a spin.
Need I remind you-
To trust your aim? Newp, I know you got this. Just, don't hit him too hard, okay?
Before swore he heard a snort of disapproval when he let go of Vanna. And promptly had his jaw drop at how close to Gale's head she was spinning. Oh s**t, please duck in time, or swerve, or dive, or-

Despite the fact that Before was...well...Before (and that meant strange, awkward, and sometimes dorky), Gale could not help but admit that the life hunter was right - oddly enough, he did feel better after laughing.
"I can...tell..." gasped Gale, struggling to his feet as he grasped Before's arm and hauled himself vertical. He shook his head, still chuckling, and then promptly ducked, the wheel of Before's narrowly missing his head and instead colliding with his arm, sending him careening sideways.
And this, for some strange reason, just made Gale laugh even harder.
"See?" he managed to get out, barely getting a hit on Before. "You can fight."
Gale could not even remember the last time he had laughed like this.

Before cringed, both at the blow Vanna had delivered and at Gale's retaliation. Was it for the verbal or the physical? Uh... Yes. >.> The wheel ricocheted back into Before's waiting chest, pointy-side-first xAx!!!! But, but at least Gale was still laughing! It put him in a much better, much lighter mood. As if... as if this was how training was supposed to be.
"I'm giving this all I got, After, you've been waaaarned!" Before declared with a dramatic gesture of pointing and posing, all grins and laughter. Then he charged at Gale, teal eyes indicating he was indeed taking this seriously. Much to Vanna's delight as she was swung forward with unusual force, aimed for Gale's shoulders.
