"Going for the punk rocker look? Jude, it looks like his hair rebelling against him." Leon joined into the hair chat as well, it really was hard to notice.
What wasn't hard to notice was sudden collapse of trainees that ingested the pill, and the snore from the Boomstick wielder Jerry. "Aw man, your going to drool on the floor." he moaned out and gave the guy a subtle shake to the shoulder.
It wasn't supposed to be a very strong shake, SUPPOSED TO BE. But it was a lot more interesting than the droning of paperwork that was going on from their weedwhacker attacked leader.

At first, the pill seemed to do nothing but go down rather unpleasantly. Gale rubbed his throat absently, fingers brushing against the scar on his neck as he listened to Caelius speak.
It was not until several moments later that he noticed a difference.
Ssss..ssssssss....
What the hell?
He did not know where the sound was coming from. At first, Gale looked down at the silver ring on his hand, as though it were Jinhai trying to speak to him, but failing, the only sounds that of a staticky sort of buzzing noise.
Jinhai?
<< sdffzzzzzzzzzz >>
Louder. Louder. Gale threw his hands up, clenching the sides of his head as something seemed to explode within his mind, deafening everything else. His eyes widened, a horrible, twisting sensation curling up his chest, followed by something grappling at him, something he couldn't see.
A horrible, chilling blackness swept in front of him, darkening everything else around him. Gale was not even aware that he had fallen to the ground, his body spasming violently.
"...forget to sign the bottom part of the third page with your full signature."
His eyes opened, Caelius' voice ringing dully in his head. Slowly, groggily, Gale pushed himself up, vaguely registering the fact that he was sitting on the floor and their instructor was looking down at all of them with an expression of great dislike.
Well, that was embarrassing.
Face reddening, Gale hauled himself up back into his chair, mutely accepting the sheet of paper pushed his way.

Ugh. Paperwork. Sounded too much like homework. Madison sighed and propped her head against one hand, lightly tapping the desk with the other, the impacts of her fingers against the wood so soft as to be inaudible.
Then the tapping stopped. Dude, Kouki, shut up, I'm trying to listen, she thought at her weapon, aggrieved. The hissing was really getting on her nerves.
We aren't... that isn't... her weapon said, a rising panic audible in his four-toned voice. Madison tensed as the hissing escalated into something angry, as if someone was having a furious one-sided argument in another room, words muffled beyond understanding but not beyond recognition.
Kouki? Kouki, what is that, I'm scared- She took a single sharp, indrawn breath before everything went dark, and there were claws in that darkness, claws and such anger, no reassuring heartbeat or breath-rhythm to hang onto as a sign that she was still in the classroom or even alive-
-and then it was gone, and she was on the floor next to her desk, one foot twitching one last time against her chair before the shaking faded and died. Slowly, Madison pulled herself back up into her chair, arms hugging herself automatically, eyes wide. She could see other trainees in similar states of shock - all the ones who had taken the pills.
But, as promised, the Chill was gone.
You could have warned us, you jerk, Madison thought, but did not say. Ugh, she felt like she could sleep for a week. Again.

The trainees who had taken the pills were collapsing, writhing on the floor. Jordan was halfway out of his chair before reason caught up with instinctive reaction - Caelius had said specifically that this was a cure. Anyway, killing any of the trainees would mean finding replacements, and hurting them would keep them off their feet and out of useful duties for whatever amount of time they were down, and Jordan highly doubted that the senior Hunter wanted that. He made himself sit back down, gritting his teeth and trying to split his attention between the explanation and his teammates' condition. He took a form almost without noticing it as the stack of papers was passed around.
... Given the involuntary and unpleasant reaction, he could even see why Caelius hadn't warned them (aside from a heavy dose of probable sadism) - somebody would have refused to take the damn thing. Jordan relaxed very slightly as each of the affected trainees recovered, shaken but unharmed. Candace was helping Jerry, predictably, but Madison might yet need his assistance; he kept an eye on her.

"Something wrong with your weapon aside from your general lack of experience wielding it?" Caelius corrected, "It is possible that yes, your weapon is Fear drained. Tired, it can't communicate because it does not have enough power to do so. There are two simple solutions to this, the first is to charge your weapon by having it drain Fear when it successfully hits, which is unfortunately not viable as you cannot leave the facility right now, the second is to simply wait. Over time, your weapon will replenish itself."
He spoke clearly and slowly, as if talking to a small child.
"Candace, I appreciate your concern for your"- a sneer -"friends, but what does not kill you simply makes you stronger. I hope." Caelius scooped the rest of the 'medication' up and pocketed the box. A pause as he made eye contact.
"Leon, Jude. Perhaps we can arrange an external schedule for everyone to do as they please regarding their behaviour. Seeing as I am also temporarily suspended, I am sure I can fit this into my schedule. I will see all you trainees in the practice yard at seven o'clock am tomorrow for a weapons training session, everyone can and will have an equal chance to spar and fight against me."
Actually, it sounded very much like Caelius just wanted to beat them to an inch of their life.
"Any other questions that demand immediate attention?"

Madison realized that Jordan was looking at her; she offered him a weary smile and mouthed the words I'm okay at him. Yeah, she was okay, but what the hell. "Sir? What the heck was that? The... the screaming and the... the claws?" she called out to Caelius, trying to catch his eye. "It felt like something besides my weapon was in my head..."
Ugh ugh ugh. Just the thought made her want to take about seventy showers. Kouki was irritated, too; she could feel him grousing, sliding around her mind as if checking the perimeters for intruders. It was sort of sweet, even if it was also sort of distracting.

Well damn s**t son. At first those who took the pill seemed fine Caelius wasn’t giving two shakes of s**t as the professor went on to explain how to fill out their mission forms and probably how to fill them out and not get their s**t kicked in for filling it in incorrectly. Marcus hoped that was the case at least. But like all things hope vanished fast. Especially as people started to ******** going into seizure like reactions. The ******** was that. That- Jesus ******** Christ, if that was an effect of the chill he sure as all hell didn’t want to get it. He was going to stay ******** alive thank you very much.
Caelius didn’t seem fazed by the reactions, so Marcus bit back the drive to go and make sure they weren’t… actually going into seizures. That would have been bad. It did say a bit about just what the guy said. Keeping secrets… not very smart, (didn’t mean Marcus wanted to trust a certain Doctor though). Looking at Jude, Marcus shrugged. “Better that then ending up dead I would guess.”
Their instructor had asked for questions. Did Marcus want to bite the bullet? Well… better in public he guessed. Less chance of execution? Maybe? Oh well. “Sir.” He wasn’t sure it was the best question to ask but… “Originally Miss Aria was here on the island, and I am going to guess that was the real Aria since…I would also guess we would have noticed if something was off, but what about when we took the golems out? Just how did that-“ He paused to find the words. “How was it that freak managed to get a hold of Aria’s weapon? And what exactly was it that happened to that monster?” It had been eating at him. There were a lot of pieces missing in this puzzle. “I know my specialty isn’t intel, but the fact they did manage to get as far as they did… it’s concerning.”

Ennéa tried not to fidget and focus what was going on in the classroom but she had been unsettled by Caelius' description of The Chill. A near death experience, was that what had happened to Maddie? She looked across the classroom over at her friend; remembering how deathly still Maddie had looked lying there on the ground. The thought of it made Ennéa's stomach twist unpleasantly.
She watched as several of her fellow hunters went up to get pills from Caelius. Had they nearly died too? Ennéa had been relatively lucky on that mission; the worst injury she received was a bite to the leg. But would she be one of those going up to get a pill next time? Would she even survive to get a pill?
Oh, stop worrying. You'll be fine. Baraz said, somewhat impatiently. The silvery-blue eye behind Ennéa's eyes looked curiously at her. It's not like you to fret like this.
Ennéa knew better than to talk while Caelius was talking so she just shrugged.
And then over nearby her, Gale collapsed to the floor. Ennéa started and turned to see what had happened but then Bix and Maddie and several others who had taken the pill also collapsed. "Wha--" She looked worriedly over at Jordan but the older hunter looked just as surprised. Caelius just kept on talking like nothing was the matter, however. Ennéa bit her lip, unsure of what to do.
Probably just a side-effect of whatever was in that pill? Baraz speculated. Everyone seems to be okay now though.
The ahriman was right. The other hunters were coming to and returning to their seats though Ennéa still kept shooting worried looks around the classroom. Maddie's protest only made her even more uneasy.
Hey pinkie, Baraz said don't die, okay? That doesn't sound pleasant.

Before's attention shifted from Caelius' hair to Bix to Gale and to Ariane in such speed it was a wonder he didn't get whiplash. Unheeding of Caelius' concern, the trainee skeedaddled over to the bodies of his bros (Bix first then Gale) while glancing over towards Ariane in between ;A;
"Oh s**t, oh s**t, don't die on me again!!!" he whimpered, shaking each former Beta a little too roughly. When it became apparent they were a-ok, Before's arms flung open to give them all hugs. Bear hugs. Or as bear-huggy as someone like Before was capable. He was a mite too busy trying to squeeze the air out of Bix and Gale's lungs to hear their upcoming... guaranteed wipe-out session with the Death Hunter OTL
Then it seemed that the floor was open for questions. (Why yes, severe emotional whiplash? Apparently he was immune to it.) And Before had some questions of his own. Oh wait, Marcus had asked one of them. Yay!
Before's hand shot up, "The not-Aria b***h said something about not being able to die. Um, Boss-Dude-Sir, does that mean the corpse we left in that canyon's gonna do a lazarus eventually?"

As always, leon wasn't surprised when he got called out by their leader once he opened his mouth and promptly shut it yet again. "Yes superior." he said quietly at the handing threat the went from Cael's lips and over his head like a ton of bricks. The sheepish look was a new one for the stoic boxer.
Well at least the waking up early wasn't going to be a problem.

"Jesus Christ, Leon. Be careful." She muttered at the guy shaking Jerry, swatting at his hand like an animal doing something wrong. No. NO. Bad Leon! But...Jerry was snoring.
Goddamnit, Jerry. She rolled her eyes and reached over to sit him up in his chair, patting at his face a few times. "Wake up. You can sleep later." Candace's eyes narrowed as Caelius spoke to her as if she were a child. That a**. He may have earned her respect with what he had done but she still did not appreciate being talked down at. "While that may be true, with all due respect you can't expect us to not be surprised by the effects of taking the pill when not told what will happen." a*****e. Go get your hair fixed. Unlike others though Candace kept this to herself, and she was glad she did.
So Caelius had gotten suspended as well...that explained the mood. Would he be so angry about how the mission had turned out if he hadn't almost died and then gotten punished?
...Wait...fight Caelius? Candace's eyes widened, looking excited now. She could fight Caelius. She could fight that beautiful, beautiful scythe! And maybe if she tried hard enough she could knock it out of his ******** hands and hold it again. Please oh please! She just wanted to touch it one more time! "Sounds promising, sir." Candace did her best not to sound as excited as she was suddenly feeling. And Marcus was asking the question that was probably on everyone's mind anyway. How could what happened happen?
Candace could multitask. She picked up a pen to begin writing her report while the others asked their questions. "I wonder what came of Aria...or when that b***h even took her place." She pouted as she continued to write out what she could remember.

Cass touched the chain around her waist and then nodded once. "That sounds about right, Sir. I'll keep that in mind." she answered, not pressing it further, though Nicodemus did press into her mind;
Clearly, you should get as much practice in when you can, then. Because those are both clear problems to me. It was a sort of nasty truth and Cass made a bit of a face. Her entire body was still sore from duking it out with the undead ghoulie, being set on fire, and generally no naps on other people were enough of a nap to get her energy back. Though that was more of a general exhaustion thing.
She didn't want to take the magic pill of convulsion, to be honest. In fact, she knew she didn't have that 'Chill' thing, so she didn't touch on it. Her attention went to Marcus when he spoke up, though she did give both Leon and Jude familiar looks. Her group of boys, she had to keep an eye on them, really. A ticking timebomb of hilarity, fun, and possibly a drunken brawl someday. Or so she imagined sometimes. But, she made a face at the question about the Mist Head.
That was something relative to her interests. Would Aria be pissed off when she came back to find her weapon had been kaput? Would she strangle whichever hunter she liked the least? (Please not be her)
Would Aria even be coming back?
She waited for an answer.

Jerry groaned as he was first shaken, and then set upright and finally yelped as he was slapped, "I'm up! I'm up! I'm-" he glanced around, blearily grasping at his bearings before realizing people were staring.
He slid lower in his chair in embarrassment.
"Er... s-sir...? W-what... what exactly... was that?" He wasn't sure if Caelius had explained it or not already, but while the numbness and cold had left, he was left with a shiver down his spine that had nothing to do with body temperature. "I swear there was... I mean it seemed like..." swallowing, his face pale, he glanced around to see if any of the others who had taken their pills had experienced the same thing.

Caelius, halfway between collecting the last unused forms together, suddenly jerked his hand at the mention of Aria and weapons. It seemed there were still things that surprised him.
"Aria." the word came in a low growl as they visibly steeled themselves. "As per Doctor H's verdict," the Death Hunter had just as hard of a time spitting out that name, "Aria's weapon is part of a twin weapon set. They are mostly rare and unheard of. That means that someone here managed to not only inform the enemy of this condition but also take advantage of it. You will understand then, why it is still under further investigation, I am sure the price is heavy on your mind. If we had not taken as immediate action as we did, you would not even be sitting here today."
Though Caelius explained some of it, he also omitted conveniently several parts. Was Aria a traitor? Had they been talking to this traitor all the time? In that case, how had she managed to hide within Deus Ex for so long?
"Extra precautions post mission have been taken regarding this situation. Further information is currently none of your concern until we have discerned whether or not the real Aria is alive." And suddenly, there were a lot more complications. It did not seem like the Death Hunter was in much of a sharing mood beyond the basics though. He gave each of them a very long stare.
"However, if the real Aria is also a traitor, her execution will be publicly displayed. This is the price for any traitors or sympathizers. Her body will hang on the flagpost outside for weeks, her weapon will be forcefully torn to pieces and then dissipated."
This could not be any more clear.
"Please have your reports completed tonight, and submit them back to administration thank you. I will see you tomorrow morning in the training fields at seven am sharp."
Caelius did not get up, but simply waited for them to leave, his tone dismissive and not open for any more questions. OOC External Mission and Mission Reports is now live - Your Hunter can choose to take an external mission for BONUS RP POINTS, but please read the rules involving them! - IN addition, please fill out any and all mission reports in that thread - There will be another orp up for the sparring/training portion, anyone is free to participate, even Hunters that were not involved in the meta. - Feel free to wrap up in this ORP before your char icly exits

"Ow," said Gale, attempting to pry Before off of him, his face slightly red. However, he was glad that the other hunter was back to his normal, goofy self; the angry, negative Before that had been around during the mission had been an unpleasant, unnerving one; one that Gale did not particularly want to see again.
"Geroff, Before," said Gale, though it was halfhearted, distracted by what Caelius was saying.
...a twin set?
He had not ever heard of that before. Frowning, his brows drawing together, Gale rubbed his hand on the back of his neck, absently tugging at the long, golden strands of his hair.
So what does that mean? Where's Aria? Is she really that creature from Halloween Town? What does this entail, exactly?
There were many questions he wished to ask, but none really escaped his throat, Gale instead staring mutely at their instructor. Caelius was as he ever was - cryptic and entirely too full of himself, but with a sigh Gale pushed back from the table, standing up.
"See you later," he muttered to the others, and left the room.
