Too soon, it was simply too soon for Before. While other people were going to rest and sleep, Before had gone straight to the kitchen. He took out the butter to let it reach room temperature before heading straight for the sink where a pile of dirty dishes awaited him. Vanna's tablet was safely tucked into a pocket as Before reached for a sponge and dishwashing liquid. The chore was a welcomed distraction to the ache and loneliness carving away at his chest, and Before didn't know what else to do.

After parting with Sherry and before heading for her own bed. Tori went looking for Before as it was only right to make sure that he was still alive. It didn't take her too long to find her only best friend in the kitchens to what looked like he was going to bake but was currently cleaning the dishes. Tori didn't truly know how Before was feeling but she did somewhat know since she felt empty in her heart with the lost of her other best friend and her weapon and she felt just so alone too. Patting her pocket to make sure that Aklin's tablet was still in her pocket as she quietly walked into the kitchen as not to disturb Before since she didn't know if he would run or not. Once she had gotten right behind the misty Tori snaked her arms around Before as she gave him a bear hug and if he had been facing the other way he would have had a face full of boobs. "I'm glad you are alive," Tori said softly as she didn't know what else to say.

Before had been lost in the motions of dish washing, eager to submerge his feelings, and more than willing to shove it all down as he scrubbed and dunked pans and pots and mugs and cups. He was focused only on the automatic movement of his hands, trying to ignore how loud the silence was now that Vanna was gone.
He suddenly tensed when arms snaked around him, elbows all but raring to slam into the warm body that pressed up against his back. Tori was just lucky she spoke when she did because Before's hackles had risen and he wasn't going to be in a very good mood for a bit. Blankly, he let her words wash over him, teal eyes downcast, hands still holding the sponge and plate.
"I'm not," he muttered. He wasn't feeling too chatty or charitable at the moment. But he wasn't pushing her away either. That was a good thing, right? Right about now, Vanna would be chiming in with her opinion. Except all Before could hear was his own thoughts, his breathing, and that of Tori's.

Tori had felt Before tense up but she wasn't going to let go and if she had to she would use her to her advantage. But when he didn't fight back or even push her away and she really didn't like what Before had said. "Don't say that Milton," Tori said sternly and very softly on the verge of tears and using his real name to get his attention more. "I don't want to lose another best friend," she then said just as softly as Tori then started to cry a little while she hugged Before a little harder. She didn't want him to be gone, she wouldn't know what to do and she even didn't want to even think about it either. One thing that Tori didn't want was an even bigger emptiness in her heart. She too didn't know what else to say as she was also battling with trying to ignore the emptiness in her own head. Tori had been waiting for Aklin to say something that would help her with what she couldn't find the words for, but nothing was said since he wasn't in Tori's head. The one thing that Tori was going to do was just keep on hugging Before since she needed the comfort and she knew he would need it too. "I know it hurts a lot, but don't think like that, please," Tori finally said but softly while not trying to cry more.

The blank expression on his face soured into a scowl when Tori used his name. He hated hearing that name. It reminded him too much of his past, of his failings, of all the things he should have done. He sunk his trembling hands into the soapy water, hoping the uncomfortable sensation would distract him from the mounting rage building inside of him. "Why the ******** shouldn't I? It ain't like I've done anything to warrant saving. Couldn't. I couldn't even protect Bix," Before hissed. "A-and everyone was so ******** gung-ho on downing him and then they turn right around and DEFEND that whoever the ******** that was!" He was trying to keep his voice down, and was failing miserably.

Oh Tori knew that Before would be angry with her by using the name she just called him, but it had gotten a reaction from her best friend than nothing at all. But even she had her own limits on what she was hearing come from Before as she growled ever so softly a warning perhaps of her own rising anger. Anger that she wasn't going to bottle up any longer as it really backfired on her in the past.
"Because I say so and because I know that Bix and Vanna wouldn't want you to think that way at all!" Tori answered with a little growl and she stomped one of her feet as she reached down and grabbed his hands and then spun him around were he was facing her to which he would see that yes she was angry but saddened too. "Well how do you think that I feel? I know that I should have protected him too and I will blame myself for that just as much as I do when I caused Ceridwin's death. Bix was also my best friend too, I have this gaping hole in my heart that is empty because of loss and I don't want it to get any bigger and I know that you are worth saving as I care for you!" Tori very sternly said and ready for just about anything that Before could do.
"I don't know why the other did that, they all have there own reasons to do so and they will just have to live with the choices that they made and there is nothing that we can do to change that," the lifer replied keeping her own tone down but just barely.
"Just think, Before would Vanna want to come back to you with you acting the way you are or would you want her to see a stronger you and I do think that Bix would want the same too," Tori said as she kept telling herself that Aklin will be back too or at least she really did hope so.

Before was not in the right frame of mind to be bullied around. Whether it was for his own good was not important to him. At least not at that specific moment in time. He bared his teeth at Tori when she spun him around to face her, the scowl on his face deepening as she continued to lecture him. He was having flashbacks to Rick's treatment. The constant berating the refusal to just leave him alone it was reaching a boiling point.
"For ******** sake, Story, COOL IT!" he yelled, thankfully Before was aware enough of his situation and who he was being lectured to by that instead of grabbing a plate and hurling it at Tori, he decided on a cup, dunked it into the soapy water and threw the watery contents at Tori.

Tori glared right back at Before when he bared his teeth at her as she didn't like that one bit as she was going this for your own good, Before. She didn't want to lose the last of her best friends. Fighting a really big urge to slap the misty sense back since most of her common sense was currently checked out and she was going to be more likely to do stupid things when angered. Oh now you have done it Before, Tori was now really getting pissed off as all she wanted to do was help as her own growling got louder. Starting to glare harder, but then all those thought were totally interrupted by Before splashing her with soapy water and indefinitely cooled down her rising temper back to a slow simmer. To which she looked like a deer in the headlights as Tori looked at Before trying to get her thought back on track. Getting her thought back on track that Tori thought that Before needed to cool it as well. So one of her arms when around Before to the soapy water that was behind him and she gave him a little splash of the water. 'You cool it too Before. All I was trying to do was help you out as I care for you deeply," Tori said while trying to fight back tears since at this point she didn't know what else to do despite all that she did know.

The Misty just grit his teeth at the splash of cold, soapy water now running down the back of his coat. "What do you think I've been trying to do over here? I'm totes not just washing dishes because I can't stand to see a mess," he snapped, crossing his arms and pouting like a child. The few times Before did not retreat to his "path of no resistance" method of dealing with problems was when he just dug his heels into the ground and acted as stubbornly as possible.
Why he was acting this way with Tori of all people was beyond Before. If Vanna had been there, she would have offered her opinion that Before had reached a level of comfort with the taller hunter that he wasn't afraid to show his less-than-endearing side. Not that he didn't do that regularly with his doormat-like ways to begin with.

Tori huffed a little as this wasn't what she had been thinking would have happened when she saute out Before as all she wanted to was talk about what of all happened of late. But then Tori really didn't know what to expect now that she thought about it. "Well I'm sorry. I just thought that you might want to talk about it or something and I wasn't expecting this," Tori said as she then motioned to all of Before as he was being different that he has before. She had been in a hugging, cuddly mode, but she could be huffy too. Well Before did get to see a small portion of her rediscovered anger before he splashed her with water which had been a good choice. "I one think that I might have been expecting was to cuddle with you, but I guess that I had been wrong about that," she replied as she stared at Before as she crossed her arms. "So I take it that you were going to bake? " she asked a little curious since she had seen the butter laying out and a change of subjects might be a good idea but Tori really didn't know if it was right as she was treading on grounds she had no idea about.

Before grimaced at the tone Tori was using with him but he was going to stand his ground. He wasn't going to apologize for the way he was acting. Vanna would have been so proud to see him actually stick to his guns despite all desire to just turn tail and run. Metaphorically speaking or literally? Whichever, Before mentally grumbled.
"After the s**t we just saw, hugging and cuddling ain't exactly on my top list of priorities," he frowned. Right now, what he really wanted was to have Vanna back while everyone else, those who went and attacked and killed his Bro, remained weaponless. Shield-less. And he simply wanted to go to town on all their asses.
But that was never going to happen so he thought to take his frustrations elsewhere. "Yeah, dunno yet if I actually need it. Might try my hand at bread. Might just go with the usual cookies since at least I'm sure I can make those without wasting ingredients. Portals are all down and s**t," he rambled, "Iffin' you wanna watch you can. Iffin' you wanna dry while I wash, you're totes welcome to do that too." It was the only offer Before was willing to make at that moment.

Tori huffed again since she hadn't totally calmed down since her own common sense was still not all there but at least getting a little better. She did open her mouth to say more but then closed it again since it might just be a bad idea since Before was a little calmer now, maybe later on maybe she thought to herself and it also was interesting to see her friend act differently than he normally did. "Well ok maybe later on then," she said as her tone was much softer and deflated but she still didn't want Before gone as she knew she wouldn't be able to handle both him and Bix gone from her life forever. Tori really didn't get a good look on who had attacked and killed Bix with the fog and so much s**t happening on all sides since they had gone down the rabbit hole and come back not like they had gone in.
Tori was going to take what ever she could and she was also a little surprised that he didn't kick her out of the kitchen since what she had said. So very willing to just sit there and watch Before bake since she thought that just being here could be helpful to her best friend maybe. "Sure I would like to watch and I can totally do that," she said softly as she went to grab a towel to dry the dishes since she just wanted to be with Before right now and would meekly do what he asks but if he metaphorically bit her she would bite back since her temper was still just under the surface.

"Good," Before nodded, fixing his attention back at the pile of dirty dishes. "'Cuz I don't like the drying part of this chore." The Mist wasn't really sure why he enjoyed the feel of having his hands submerged in murky water and suds. Sure there were rubber gloves and he would use them when the meal that was cooked was particularly nasty but maybe having his skin wrinkled and turned rough after years of the easy life was the least painful way he thought he could do to catch up.

Tori just nodded a reply to him as she wasn't sure on what else to say right now. But she did move next to him to where she could take the offered dishes and dry them and stack them neatly near by were they could be put away later on. This type of chore Tori had done once before when her parents had been away and Ceri had still been around. Quietly doing the work and keeping her thought to herself for the time being.
Well at least with drying dishes did leave ones mind to wander a little since that is what Tori did. One thought went to her nanny and how she had failed her which brought her to think that she had totally failed Bix in sorta the same way. The whole while Tori had been waiting for Aklin to pipe in to say some sorta incite or to ask her a question to most likely to distract her. But it was all empty that part of her brain where Aklin usually was. It looks like I have failed you too, Lin. I so want you to be back but I'm really unsure that you will or not. I'm sorry if I every did fail you. She thought to herself as she totally tried not to cry as it could be awkward all around if she did. Tori also wanted to know why she had acted the way she had just did with Before but nothing to answer that question came to mind and if Aklin had been around he would be laughing softly to himself seeing his hunter grow just a little more.

In silence Before worked, still expecting to hear Vanna's voice any minute now. Could he will her back to existence? She wasn't really gone, was she? I mean, he had her tablet with him, she was even nestled in his breast pocket. She had to come back. He needed her to come back.
Because he wasn't sure if he could stand to lose her on top of losing Bix. Before suddenly stopped washing. He wasn't handing any finished plates to Tori. He simply kept his arms immersed in the water, trying to tell himself he was shaking because the water was cold and not because he was absolutely livid. He wanted to throw everything within reach at all those ******** that killed his best friend.
There was an odd grating sound but Before didn't hear it, didn't realize it was coming from him as he ground his teeth in suppressed fury.
