Normally, Before would be making a lot of flailing and yelling and general ruckus-noises to get the undead dragon's attention. But it was partly out of respect for the fallen that Before simply trudged up to the creature attacking the barrier, pulled Vanna back and swung her right at him from behind. <******** fair play and ******** giving a fair warning.OOC Before is targeting Aymet! The heavy wheel weapon slammed Aymet in the small of the back, sending reverberations through the armor and letting loose some of his essence. He growled and turned to face his attacker, significantly weakened already. "You think you can stand in our way?" he asked, condescension in his disembodied voice. "You brought this on yourselves, you know. This is justice. This is revenge." Still dazed, his claws only barely clashed with the hunter's fear shield. OOC Aymet is targeting Before! The Mist trainee barely flinched, though he felt his partner's FEAR shield crackle upon impact. "Justice?" Before snorted, "From the look of your outfit, it's Just Ice."
Vanna internally groaned. No matter that mood, no matter the situation, it looked like her partner would always find a pun somewhere. The earth began to shake. The crystals had come upon them before they even knew what was happening. All around them, like walls, sealing up every open space above and around them. Aymet immediately turned his attention to them, trying to shatter them before they grew in his way. He felt exhaustion hit him like a brick wall as it sucked the FEAR out of him. Something called for revenge, but Aymet couldn't imagine whoever or whatever it was would be calling for much longer. OOC Aymet is targeting Crystals?? His energy surged back again in a moment. He was angry, he was furious. The crystals growing up his body were resonating, amplifying his anger, creating an echo chamber in his own mind. To the tune of the chaos of battle, mindlessly, senselessly thrashing, fighting at crystals that only seemed to grow larger, weighing him down and dulling his senses everywhere they spread - His eyes roved wildly with all the recognition of a rabid beast caught in a trap. The white around him was somehow different - There was someone else there -- OOC Aymet is targeting Crystals?? Total HP remaining: 1/40 Status of character: Y2 Student / Undead Dracolich / you know

Before had not taken his eyes off of the creature for a second, fully anticipating a relation of some sort. But then... the crystals suddenly came at them. Looming and sprouting and budding and beginning to encompass the entire area. He could feel his heart slamming against his chest, but he'd shut his feelings down already. He didn't feel fear or worry or any immediate need to evacuate.
If anything, he simply felt tired. So very, very tired, and weary. He could feel Vanna become heavy in his arms, as if whatever unknown force that allowed him to heft her with ease had ceased, as if the devil shield could not hold herself aloft as she always had.
A whisper, feather-soft and spider-silk-faint, Revenge.
For what? For the deaths of those Before cared about? For those who were fed and feasted upon as if humanity were mere, mindless cattle?
"Okay," Before agreed, summoning every ounce he could muster to grip his partner anew.

Before grits his teeth, felt calcium grind away layer by layer as he forced himself to remain awake. He couldn't very well have his revenge if he fell asleep, could he? The grating sound of crystals snaking their way along the ground reached his ears and Before whirled Vanna low, felt the tips of the large wheel shatter and fragment the shards, keeping them at bay for as long as he could.
The reflection blinds him, briefly, teal eyes squeezing shut to save his sight. When he dares a peek, there seems to be a figure in the distance. Faceless and shapeless but still decidedly there. Heat blossoms in the very pit of his stomach, the sounds of clashing weapons and death-cries fanning the flames of his anger.
He barely hears his weapon's concerned cries for him to stop whatever he was planning on doing. He pauses. What... what was he planning on doing? He had been approaching the crystal-encased creature, intent on shattering it to pieces.
And he wonders why he should listen to Vanna at all.

They deserve it, Vanna, each and every one of them! Before growls heatedly, baring teeth and looking in no way menacing. Not even in such a state of distress, when he neither feared death nor pain (for the time being), could Before ever hope to appear intimidating. But that was neither here nor there.
What really matters in that precise moment was that Before has the opportunity to teach these creatures a lesson. He was there to show them that not all of humanity will roll over and play dead, that he himself was not always going to be that way. Not now, not when the opportunity presents itself.
He catches the sound of air displacing a little too late as he sidesteps. Pain, sharp and acute stabs into his arm, blood spurting out in a scarlet arch. He grunts in surprise and dismay, a gloved hand rising to staunch the bleeding.
"s**t, s**t, s**t, ******** s**t!" he curses, grinding his teeth again. The pain numbs quickly. Too quickly. Before could feel beneath the fabric of his glove an odd layer crusting over the wound. Teal eyes widen in utter horror to discover the blood, his blood, not congealing but hardening into crystals. He is quick to scrape it off him, desperately trying to remove the fragments and shards taking form.

Each time he scrapes off the crystals like some sort of glittering scab, it feels like fire flaring up and along his arm. Each time he cleans the wounds free of the fragments, more take their place, reaching deeper and deeper into his limbs until it feels as if his very bones have become encased in gems.
Teal eyes dart over to the creature he'd attacked, the initial desire to blame the undead dragon for this is quickly squashed. It wasn't some form of self-defense the creature had erected he decided. Because otherwise, Before would be getting a face-full of claws and talons, he was sure of it.
The more he struggles and fights the fragments, the more of them sprouts, the more of them grows. It doesn't take long until his entire arm is one solid mass of glittering crystal. He barely manages a breath until he can no longer move and he succumbs to the darkness.
