Mission Details  Survey Mission 2CArticle Headline: Couple missing off coast of Mexico * C class difficulty level (must have a team of three, at least one of them must be an intermediate trainee) *Article contents: A couple honeymooning in Cancun have been reported as missing. They were last seen renting a boat to explore the coast, but they never returned. Rescue crews are still searching. MECHANICS * MECHANICS: RP assembling a team, as necessary, before heading towards the Lighthouse portal to request a portal to Survey Mission 2C. Once there, roll a 100-sided dice and match the roleplay to the results below, as well as any reactions. Each player must roll at least three times with rped reactions. Once they have "collected enough information", they can return back and submit a report in this thread.
1- 20: You search around, the beaches are rather crowded, filled with tourists, obscuring a lot of evidence. A couple of people give you odd looks and ask you if you feel warm wearing your clothes.
21 - 40: You move a little further past the populated areas, as you catch odd holes in the sand. They are larger than shellfish holes, and placed together in strange circular clusters...
41 - 60: You notice that all the vegetation, the further you step away from the "populated" beach area, is shriveled and grey, and the beach seems to be devoid of any other life
61 - 80: You step towards the water, and though it seems normal at first, the texture is oily, darker in colour. It leaves a strange feeling at the tips of your fingers.
81- 100: Little floating white clusters are seen further away from the populated area of the beach, they are tiny clusters, barely noticeable. It looks like clusters of some sort of wheat product actually, oddly enough, out of all things...

After that age-related fiasco passed and the base went back to a semblance of normalcy, Before figured it was time he put Vanna's plan into action. And by plan, it was more one that had the weapon hoped for her partner to eventually be less... Before-y. Which meant he had to take the steps he normally wouldn't. And pray to God he doesn't ******** it up so terribly he kills people by accident.
Who knows, maybe he ends up killing himself and does everyone all a favor that way?
He had returned to the dorms, fists resting on either side of his hips, grim determination on his face, he was here to gather a team. Haha, gather a team, wow, listen to him think-talk, like some sort of wannabee leader~
Stop that! Vanna hissed.
Visibly deflating at the scolding, Before sent a text message to one person. Or rather he intended to send a text message to one person but butterfingered his way into sending it to two. It had take several days for Tori to heal up enough from that whole event with Halloween to be social with anyone, she still thought on how there fearless leader thought of them and she still didn’t like it one bit. Well at least a little something good did come out of all of this whole fasico that she and Aklin talked a little more about himself. Currently Tori was lounging in her bed reading one of her books, to which was something she had been doing a lot of and practicing her codes as well. Just as tipical a text came in to which she didn’t hear at first wrapped up in her book.
What!! She said a little irrateated that he was interuping her quiet time. he said with a sigh and knew this was never going to change. Oh. She replied to him a little sheepishly as she reached for her phone that was sitting near her on the bedside table and looked at it. It from Before and he wants me to come on a mission with him. he replied with a little snicker. Tori just gave her own sigh at her weapon as she typed up a reply to Before as she got ready to head out. Huni Pi Hi, that sounds like fun!! I will be right there. It didn’t take her long to get ready and headed out of her room. Quickly she had spotted where Before was standing Tori headed straight for him. She still was brused all over her body but not so deeply any longer and her hands along with her feet (even tho you couldn't see them with her shoes on) wrapped in bandages and still sore as ever. “Heya, Before!!” she said with a smile and a wave.. “So what is the mission that we be heading on?” she asked with a little smile on her face while she was trying to figure out what the mission could be and hoping she wouldn't need to use her weapon as she didn't even know if she could hold her weapon properly with the condition of her hands.

"First we'll get some fight training in, then I'll get in some study time." Sherry was, of course, not entirely alone in her room. Though to an outsider it would have looked that way. "I knew you'd approve." Training was one thing Armagnac always approved. The wyrm didn't think much of social things, but anything that would make Sherry a better fighter got a glowing review. Sherry was grateful for the encouragement. She wanted to improve, too. Her phone buzzed. "Hm?" Sherry flipped it open anxiously. Who could it be, and what could they want? You never really knew what kind of trouble would follow these texts. "A mission. From...Before?" Before...? Oh, right! Sherry had seen him around here and there. Someone else she hadn't had the chance to talk with, but she knew he was one of the intermediate trainees. "Well, what do you say? Shall we?" The words seemed slow and lazy. Sherry imagined a toothy grin, laced with venom. Armagnac was pleased. Huni Pi Yes! Be there in just a moment. Truth be told, Sherry was flattered that she'd been asked to join in on this mission. Excited, too. She was grinning as she slipped her coat on and stepped into the dorm hallway. It was easy to spot the other two already there. She did recognize both of them. But she didn't know them. Which made her just a bit shy. "Um...Hello. Mission Meeting here?" (Sorry about the delay!)

Before gave Tori a bright grin, waving to her as chipper as ever. "Ah, I'll uh... fill you in when our third member-" his phone chose that moment to alert him of a second text from the mystery random person he'd sent the message to earlier. "Sherry arrives." Who the heck was Sherry?
Perfect timing for the aforementioned trainee to arrive! 83
"Ah! Sherry, yeah? Lifer too, huh?" He grinned toothily, relieved that he'd lucked out with his text. "I'm Before but you prolly already know that from the text, eh he~" He awkwardly scratched the back of his head, "This is Story," he gestured to the tall Tori, "Aaaand the mission has us going to Mexico!" he declared and showed the two Lifers the article about the missing honeymooners and how they were going to be investigating the incident.
But before Before motioned they head to the lighthouse portal, he posed them a very important question: "Who needs sun screen?"

"Alright," she replied with a grin and Aklin was glad to be doing anything that having his partner read all the time. Tori had been familiar with the name when Before said her name. Then when said trainee showed up Tori total knew who she was one of the others that had been in the room when they had talked with the colt Conquest. She shivered a little at just thinking of Conquest and the squishing she had gotten by the stallion Conquest and Aklin burst into laughter in her head her referring them by terms like he would have. Shut up, she hissed at him as she couldn't believe that she had done that. Shut up, she retorted again back at her weapon and he still giggling at her for thinking like he would. "Hi, Sherry!" she replied when Before introduced her a little shyly and nervous. Tori did perk up a little when she heard that they were going to Mexico as that had been one place she hadn't visited before. Looking over the article that Before was showing them and found it all interesting. 'Ummm, I do....I don't want to look more worse than I already do," Tori said sheepishly as she looked at her many bruises and didn't want to know how she would look with a sunburn and bruises.

From his coat pocket, Before produced a bottle of sun screen and proudly handed it to Tori. "There you go! You can have some too, Sherry! I already put some on," he explained and motioned for them to continue following him all the way to the lighthouse portal. There, the Hunter stationed for guard duty gave them the go signal to fiddle with the switches and activate the portal.
And when Before jumped into the vortex, he realized, "Uh.... I think we're overdressed for the beach..." He shrugged off his coat, draping it over his arm as they explored and searched for clues. Towards the boat rental area of the beach, Before ended up staring at the waters. Yeaaaah there was an eentsy weensy part of him that wanted to just dive in and have some fun.
But Vanna was having none of that! And yet Before was still making his way towards the ocean, taking his glove off to scoop a handful of the liquid. Yeah, he totes intended to splash the girls but... "The water's kinda funky..."

Tori gave Before a little smile while he handed her the sun screen and then looked to her hands that were bandaged, sighing a little. Good point. She replied and thinking of what could happen without, something she didn't want to happen. "Thanks, Before!" she replied to him while she started to put the sunscreen on all of her exposed skin. "Here you go Sherry," Tori said handing the sunscreen to the other Lifer. Watching the Misty go through the portal as she did the same thing while giving a nod to the Hunter manning the portal. It felt so nice and warm on the other side and Tori was just liking it. "You are right about that, but it still feels nice," Tori replied not taking off her jacket as she wasn't too warm right now. Sighting at what Lin had said while following to were Before was heading to the boat rental and total knew what he was going to do and she wasn't going to have any of it. Even Aklin was excited to be seeing the ocean, he just loved the water and wanted Tori to jump in but knew they had a mission first and maybe they could do that later on. Putting her own hand into the water just as Before mentioned that it was kind of funny. Looking closely at it, Tori saw that it was darker than normal. "You are right about that and differently colored too," she replied taking her hand out with the bandages that got wet felt very strange an oily. Something that ocean water shouldn't feel like.

"Thanks!" Sherry accepted the sunscreen, and made sure cover her face. The beach in Mexico? Wow. Another place she'd never seen before. Missions apparently led anywhere. Sherry just hoped they would actually be able to do something; missing people couldn't be good. She followed the other two through the portal. "It certainly is warm," she agreed. The landscape was gorgeous in her mind. The sand, the sun, the ocean. No wonder people came down here on vacation! Sherry looked around as she followed the others towards the water. There were people milling about here and there, could something bad have really happened here? "Odd," she replied to their observations about the water. Could it be a clue? Or was it something less sinister? Or-- A bit of white floating off to the side, even farther away from the "popular" area, had caught her eye. At first she thought it was nothing, or maybe even ocean foam. But she saw more of it. "I wonder what that is," she mused as she went to take a closer look. "Huh." She said, looking at a couple small groups of the floating white things. "They almost look like they could be natural..." Or like someone had spilled cereal into the ocean.

Before continued to peer out at the water, trying to spot whatever it was Sherry seemed to be looking at. But the Misty couldn't quite make anything out and again his teal eyes were drawn towards the more crowded area of the beach.
"Whatever happened to those that disappeared, I don't think it happened while they were here on the shore. I mean," he mused, a gloved hand stroking his chin in thought, "If it happened near where people could see it, the authorities would totes cordon the area off, wouldn't they?"

She straightened back up, and her gaze followed Before's back to the crowd. "You would think so," she agreed. "If somebody saw something, I'd hope they'd report it." Which left...Sherry wasn't sure what it left. This looking for missing people was harder than she'd thought. They...they really didn't have much to go on. "This is a big place. It could have happened anywhere," She gestured toward the open ocean. Sea monsters were real, weren't they? Sherry gave a little sigh, and cast her eyes back towards the beach, but away from the crowds. With any luck, they would find some kind of clue. Something caught her attention. "Hmm?" She took a few steps down the beach, her boots sinking into the sand. Something else that seemed strange. A circle of holes in the sand. Sherry had never seen anything like it. "Odd..." She crouched down for a closer look. "Sand crabs, maybe?" She thought crabs made holes in the sand. A sudden urge came over the Lifer. She reached a hand out, and picked up a small, stray piece of driftwood. She then poked at the holes with the stick.

Walking way from the water a little with her weapon still total wanting her to go more near the water not away from it and he huffed a little about it and she reminded him that they were on a mission. Tori had been listening to what Before and Sherry were saying as she was looking inland towards were all the tourists. Some of said tourists gave Tori strange looks because of what she was wearing and she just sighed. "I will have to a agree with the both of you on that point. I don't think that any creature would want to be seen, especially if someone reported it," Tori said thinking of what type of creature it could be.

Before nodded at his teammate's conclusions as he continued to puzzle out the situation in his head. Sherry's sudden poking at the holes drew the Misty's attention and quickly reached out to grab her arm, "Wait!" he called out, taking his phone out to check if it had a camera function.
"There's something weird about the way these holes are positioned. Maybe we should take some pictures first before we do anything..." he suggested, pointing the lens of his phone at the holes and quickly taking images.

It was like a throw-back to her childhood, that urge to poke the oddly perfect holes with a stick. She'd practically done it, too, when a hand on her arm and a shout stopped her. "That...that makes sense," she blinked at Before while he took the pictures. It was odd, they way they were positioned. Sherry was almost ashamed. She was supposed to be a member of the Life team...but she'd almost ruined a possible clue. Sherry stood, eyes still glued to the holes at her feet. Tori's words rolled around in her head. If a creature didn't want to be seen...Sherry looked at Tori. That girl was on to something. "Do you think the holes could have been made by some kind of unnatural creature? Hiding under the sand?" she asked her two companions. If that were the case....maybe poking them with sticks wasn't the best idea. Sherry's eyes darted around. "Look. There are more holes just a bit that way," she pointed away from the crowded beach. Whatever made them did seem to not like hanging out with loads of people.

Tori was racking her memory to see if she had read something that could give her a clue to what they were seeing here, but she came up with nothing that she could remember. "That could be a possibility, other just might assume that these were natural or some sorta of joke, but we know different," Tori answered smiling a little. Still total not comfortable with all the tourists staring at her and to what she had on or for the fact of her bruises made her look a little strange. Watching to where Sherry was pointing down the beach away from others that she had been thinking right about the creature not liking many other people around before striking. She also had to wonder to how helpful she was being as she hadn't found much, but Aklin poked her to stop that type of thinking.
