Status of mission: Failure, technically - did not discover the artifact, but did discover an ridiculously huge powerful freak. Looked like a giant squid or whatever. Did not emerge fully from the ice, just shoved tentacles at us and struck hard. It seems fairly intelligent and aware as I think it got us lost once by taking out our flags. Once we took out the attacking tentacle it ran off, but it seemed REALLY REALLY big. Very high FEAR spikes on the scanner. I hacked off a bit of tentacle-meat and returned it to the labs for study.
Additional points of extreme importance: I think it's REALLY REALLY BIG so um be careful?
Commendations or warnings: I went out with Ennea Petrakis as my sole partner - she did a fine job despite her recent, um, awakening?
