Saya was just a tiny bit thrown off by the eccentricities of Deus's staff.
Although at the moment, they were likable eccentricities. Mostly. Saya didn't get Barney. She had a fairly good impression from Sandy though.
Prompto's dry voice intercepted.
Gotta love them.

An excuse to not sit in his room and linger over his own thoughts? He'll take it. When the text message came he was sitting in the cafeteria avoiding going back to his room for as long as he possibly could since he had exited the den of sadness and lingering depression. Jude suddenly hated to be left alone with his thoughts because they always returned back to one source and eventually it just spiraled from there.
Certainly talking to people helped but the process was hardly ever 'over night'.
Ugh.
He stood there his arms crossed over his chest, he'd listened as there were instruction given and when the chance came he went and picked up his gear and got ready pausing only for a moment when Caelius spoke up.
Mmm seething hatred was currently a panacea compared what he'd been currently feeling. He'll take it.
{Unhealthy, Jude. Very.} Yom observed.
Jude shrugged his shoulder at the unseen voice in his head as he resumed the process of waiting.

Bix had been quiet for several reasons. One of them was the lingering amount of mope from his complete failure on the last mission. The only thing he'd managed to do correctly was flee. The other reason was the damn humidity. He'd pulled off his usual tunic and stuffed it into his pack. Thankfully his hunter coat was shorter than some other people's and the sleeves were only 3/4 length to accomodate his weapon. It was times like these that he hated having long hair. The braid seemed cumbersome and when wrapped around his neck, too hot. he left it hang behind him and was tempted to just have Maddie slice it off, samurai style. But you're ssssso pretty. Mina teased. After he'd gotten his supplies and strapped on his FEAR meter, he drifted through the crowd. He gave Gale a reassuring shoulder squeeze, he gave Marcus & Cass both a friendly shoulder shove from behind, but suprisingly he passed them all by and gravitated to Molly. She'd really cheered him up a few days before and even if she didn't know it, he was pretty fond of her. "Hey.." The albino hunter smiled at her. "You ready for this?" He was trying not to think about the prospect of demon ponies, or the fact that everytime they were told something was 'deserted' they always seemed to get attacked anyway.

Sydney headed for the items they were supposed to pack, slipping them in with the rest of her things in various pockets, or strapping it to her wrist. She took a deep breath, wondering why she was suddenly certain why all the other hunters had been in such bad shape when she first got out of her pod. Someone had probably juggled too many explosive boxes. She looked around, seeing a few of the people she actually recognized, Cass, Candace, Gale, and many others she had seen when fighting with the Sun Leaders--or fighting zombies with the Sun Leaders, she should say. But still she stopped at Vanessa's side, feeling more comfortable there.

Molly couldn’t help but wince at the appearance of Caelius. She really seen him in action that one time in the class room where he demoted all the intermediates…she was being warned about him a lot too…but maybe he just didn’t have breakfast this morning? Maybe that was why he was being a sour puss! She was thinking about going over and offering him a breakfast bar, but luckily she got her attention diverted elsewhere. The young woman gave a wave to Jude once she caught sight of him and a smile as well, and then reached into a pocket to pull out a hair tie. All this humidity was finally getting to her, and having a poofy head of curls was not awesome right now. She pulled the mess back into a pony tail, and started to undo the clasps on her coat as well. Some of the other trainees had the right idea, tying it around their waists…but oh…maybe she shouldn’t take it off…because it could be really chilly in the cave! She’d seen that on the Discovery Channel. Once again though, her attention was diverted by the approach of Bix. Molly smiled widely, and offered the hunter an energetic wave until he was closer. “ Good morning, Bix!” She gave a nod of her head. “ Of course!” Far too optimistic and chipper. “ How are you? Did you eat breakfast? If not, I have a breakfast bar if you’re hungry!”

"I did actually." Bix nodded. "Thanks. I actually wake up early usually. You are prepared though. That's good." Bix gave her another smile. He was happy to be around her with her ever present good mood. There weren't enough of them in Deus. He hoped that the missions, death and destruction wouldn't take that out of her. he was trying not to think about it at the moment, instead just enjoying the fact that they were somewhere tropical and none of them had yet seen anything terrifying. "If you need anything during the mission. Let me know, okay?"

Better trainees than actual Hunters, it would be a waste of resources.
s**t. s**t. Stupidass magic mind-crushing horses. That was the thing about police work, there were no suicide missions. If the perp got away, okay. You went in there out-manning, out-equipmenting, and out-maneuvering him. Here, sure, toss all the trainees in a cave with a flashlight into the Congo-side apartment of Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Maybe they should have called ahead for...
Oh.
Abandoned. Right. ...Good. Well. He went back to the other stuff she'd said they'd find in there. Weapons were the priority, he guessed, they didn't deal much with hostage situations, but...he felt himself grow stiff and awkward. He always got that way, he hated talking to superiors.
"M'am, you said prisoners. What, uh, what do you want us to do if we find people in there?"
He remembered the Sahara. So it was likely to just be corpse piles, but...might as well ask.

Before had totally always been there, what are you talking about? Look! He even got his share of the equipment and was listening. Surprisingly, he'd come to learn that it was forever in his best interest to keep his trap shut around Caelius. Just. Never talking unless he can help it, okay? Okay!
Keep your wits about you, silly Before. Abandoned or no, I'm certain there will still be great danger involved, Vanna murmured.
A mental nod and Before settled himself out of the way but still within reach of the entrance when they were signaled to go and get themselves killed. Idly, he began to look for Tori.

Rep felt the seriousness in the air the moment Caelius spoke up. He knew very little about the guy other than the fact he had hair that was much too nice for a man and seemed to be very serious. Oh and that he seemed to scare the ******** bejeezus out of all the other hunters who'd been here longer than him.
Still he had to glare at his tone about trainees, making them sound completely disposable. Was this why they were so ******** actively recruiting? It didn't really bode well. He didn't really have a choice though, it was be killed in your sleep or get killed on some mission. At least the mission had an element of chance involved. So tablets, those would at least be recognisable, he remembered the room of them clearly.
He reminded him he didn't need his goddamn help, he was fine.
At least this time there didn't look like there'd be any mandatory teamwork, no babysitters. Possibly just him and the dark. He wasn't sure why that unnerved him more than anything else. At least he could pretend he liked the sound of it.
Harrison speaking up made him look over. Oh he just ******** had to mention the prisoners. Just when Rep was convincing himself he could just leave them there. He wanted in and out without dying, carting useless baggage out would be a pain. Maybe they could just finish them off.

The name "Sandy" was familiar.
Why was it familiar.
Bix's hand on his shoulder made him jump again, Gale flinching automatically, but he didn't say anything, only lifted his gaze to give the albino a small, stiff nod. Awkwardly he moved over and stood beside Bix and Molly, though he remained quiet, absently packing supplies and strapping the FEAR scanner in place. He pulled off his coat, tying it around his waist, and pushed up his sleeves, yanking the tie off and unbuttoning the first few buttons on the white dress shirt.
It was way too humid.
Ignoring Caelius (who seemed preoccupied anyway), Gale shook his head, sending droplets of water flying, and pushed his hair away from his face yet again. He wished he had something to keep it out of his eyes - the heat was starting to seep into his skin, damp and clammy. Once more his eyes found the cave's entrance.
He did not want to go in there, but he did not have a choice. Being a hunter did not mean chickening out when it came down to it, and he was not about to back down now.

Sherry had followed her fellow trainees through the portal at the specified time, and had listened quietly while instructions were handed out. It was hot and humid, but rather pleasant in an exotic way. Part of her wanted to enjoy this field trip, but the sensible part of her knew this was no picnic. Paying attention was necessary if she wanted to see tomorrow.
Gather equipment and go tablet hunting. In all honesty, today's mission piqued the Life Trainee's interest.
So, she gathered her equipment and waited.

Madison bit her lip at the mention of weapon tablets - dormant weapons. It wasn't hard to read between the lines. Kouki made a soft, sad keening sound inside her mind. Poor things... we must rescue them, bring them back so they can find another Hunter! We are important too!!
Of course you are, Madison soothed, rubbing her thumb over the hilt of one sword. She could taste her weapon's determination and, behind it, the fear that he too would be abandoned and lost in some far away place...
Never, she thought to herself, eyes narrowing.

“ Excellent!” Molly cheered. She was happy to hear when her fellow hunters ate their breakfast. She smiled once more, nodding her head. “ Always! I think I end up over packing, but I’d rather be over-prepared than under-prepared.” The Mist trainee gave another nod of her head. “ I will, thank you, Bix! The same to you as well! If there is anything I can do for you, please let me know.” The young woman then looked over at Gale, and couldn’t help but reach out to smooth back some of the hair in what she thought was a helpful gesture. “ I’m hoping it will be cool and even a bit chilly in the cave.” That was how caves usually were, right? “ Just hang in there a bit longer! Same for you, Bix.” Poor Sun hunter with that long braid.

Tori jumped slightly as she wasn't expecting anyone to talk to her, but she turn to look at the girl to her side. "Ummm, Hi, I'm Tori and its nice to meet you Infinity," she replied a little nervously and gave a little smile of her own. "I am but I'm also curious to what is inside as I have never been inside a cave," she replied and she had to wonder if this was going to be horsemen related. Seeing Sandy there made Tori feel guilty and she total wasn't ever going to bring it up to what she had seen and just pretend she hadn't seen it, but still felt oh so guilty. While listening to what Sandy was saying about there equipment and just looked at it as they were told to what they would get. "Come on Infinity lets get our equipment quickly. As it would be very bad to keep Caelius waiting too long. Also just you know that you don't want to disobey any order from Caelius or bad s**t will happen," Tori said that last part in a soft voice to where only Infinity could hear her. Grabbing the needed equipment and strapping on her fear scanner snuggly on her wrist and saw that it worked. Moving out of the way were others could get what they needed and Tori was a little excited to maybe learn a little more about The Clans but she did give a little shiver when she remember her own encounter with one of them. Something she didn't want repeated any time soon if she could help it, learn more yes but not encounter one. Tori still wanted to prove that she did have worth too. Spotting Before near the entrance of the Lair she gave a few quick waves to him when she thought the Death Lead wasn't looking, Tori totally didn't want his attentions right this second and hope that Before would see her. She was also a little curious to why Caelius was acting a little stranger than she was normally use, the yelling was the same but pacing and talking to himself was new to her while they waited for the mission to truly start.

Deryk had been hanging back for the most part, finding it rather uncomfortable out here. The humidity wasn't really making his injury feeling all that great. Shifting while frowning, he listened to the debriefing, cringing at Caelius's words. Always harsh with his words, he was. Grabbing some equipment, he looked around at the other trainees, spotting Jude nearby. "Hey. Uh. Ready for this? Notsureifitspossibletoeverreallybereadythough..."
