Name: Cordelia Edena Carden
Nicknames: Cordy, Delia, Dolly (by her Grandmother)
Gender: Female
Age: 25
Birthday: September 1st, 1993
Sign: Virgo
Gemstone: Moss Agate
Blood Type: O
School: Crystal Academy DCU

Fav. Food: A well cooked burger with bacon and fries. Salad with light dressing. >(

Hated Food: Raw or undercooked meat of any kind; the thought of a steak even cooked to medium makes her stomach churn.

Hobbies:

  • Crocheting -- While it might not seem like much, and it's certainly not something she admits to often, Cordelia's grandmother taught her how to crochet. From time to time when she has a spare moment she'll drag out her yarn and her crochet hook and give it a whirl to see if she still remembers, tucking it away quickly the moment someone opens the door to check in on her. While it might be dear to her in thought, it's just not cool.

  • Playing Piano -- Alright, so she doesn't crochet all that much, but that doesn't mean Cordy doesn't let her fingers get a little exercise! While her grandmother taught her practical things like how to crochet, and how to cook something other than microwave macaroni, her mother thought she ought to be doing something 'proper'... Like learning to play classical music.

Having taken lessons for years, Cordelia believes herself to be pretty good at it... And who knows, maybe she's right.

  • Shopping -- Uniforms, uniforms, uniforms. With uniforms being the daily thing while in school, Cordy is determined to make sure she's got a rocking wardrobe for when she's not at school, even if it's at the expense of burning her parents' plastic.

Virtues:

  • "I'm a little butterfly..." Social -- Having been raised amongst her neighborhood's 'elite', Cordelia learned from a young age that if you wanted the right kind of attention you had to be social. She tends to keep herself active, bouncing from group to group and project to project while expanding various horizons in the process.
  • "Don't worry! I've got your back!" Supportive -- While it might not always show and she might suffer from a bit of foot & mouth from time to time, Cordelia really is a good listener and a strong wall of support for her friends. She'll listen to all of their stories and offer suggestions for solutions to all of their woes. After all, without them she really wouldn't be who she is (or as popular as she is, but that's another story).
  • "Always look on the bright side of life." Optimisitic -- Cordelia always tries to look on the brighter side of things, not willing to let life get her down. There are so many dreary things out there and she'd just rather not think about them, preferring to bring a little bit of light and cheer to the world instead. Note: This is more as a student than as a Sailor Scout. As a Scout she views it as her duty to take vengeance against the Negaverse for bringing about the darker days that give people less to be optimistic about.

Flaws:

  • "But what will they think?" Self-conscious -- Cordy cares way too much about what other people think, more often in the form of an internal monologue battle with herself than outwardly. While she might be all for doing something she tends to hesitate or hold back if someone who might think it's just not cool is watching. Because of this she tends to miss out on a lot of things that she really enjoys, or might enjoy if she'd give it a chance.
  • "Aww, maybe I shouldn't have said that." Thoughtless -- Despite wanting to fit in and be loved by all there are some times when Cordy just doesn't think before she opens her mouth. During those times it's best to expect the unexpected, along with a good bit of rudeness intact. If she thinks you're being an 'uncool reject' or a 'fashion mistake' she'll be more than certain to let you know. As a result most of the 'nerdy kids' will think she's an overstuffed b***h.
  • "There is no grey area." Black & White -- You're either with her or against her; friend or foe, ally or enemy. Those who get in her way during a battle may find themselves easily in the line of one of her attacks, especially if she thinks that there's a chance you might be aiding the enemy in escape. If you get in her way you're going down. Note: This applies mainly to battle situations as Sailor Corvus, although it is apparent to a lesser extent in Cordelia as herself... Unless Cordy is vying for Prom Queen, then you're screwed.
  • Blind as a Bat -- Cordelia can't see anything without her glasses contacts. Distant shapes become blobs and letters/numbers become blurs. Because glasses are so damn uncool she never carries her emergency pair around with her (most of her friends don't even know she needs anything to correct her vision). If anything irritates her eyes/contacts she's done for, completely stuck relying on someone else to be her eyes.

General Appearance

Eyes: Deep set; smokey. Use of make-up to draw them out. Crystal blue (a little darker/more alive than the Crystal Academy blue).

Hair: Blue-black (like a crow's feather); just past the shoulders in soft waves and applied curls. x

Face: Full, pouty lips, delicate nose, smooth features.

Body: Curvaceous; leggy.

Fashion:

At Home: Comfortable clothing that she rarely expects anyone to see her in; loose fitting pajama pants and camisole tops... Unless she's around family and then it's modest skirts and cardigan sweaters.

At School: Prim and proper with her own personal flare; nice jewelry and well-manicured nails. Modest makeup, but obviously wearing some.

At Play: Short skirts, high-heels and long-sleeved off-the-shoulder sweaters with necklaces and bracelets to match. Hair pulled back and lips coated in some kind of make-up to make them pop.

Sailor Scout: Strictly business... If business could be conducted in an 'I'm going to kick your a**' sort of manner. How dare you keep her from her hair appointment?

User ImageGeneral:

Designation: Super Sailor Corvus; Senshi of Vengeance
Nicknames: Batgirl, You b***h.
Challenge: "I'll turn you into carrion!" or "Vengeance is mine!"

Attacks

Attack #1 - Revenge!
[Once activated this attack shoots a bolt of negative energy from Corvus's hands towards the enemy (think magic missile!).]
  • Duration: Instantaneous upon attack's release. Can only be cast three times during a battle.
  • Avoidable: If the enemy knows what's coming and is fast on their feet or has a strong defense, yes. Against weaker enemies (youma, for example), it's almost always a hit.
  • Downside: Vengeance never throws the first punch. Enemy must attack and deal damage to Sailor Corvus first before she can attack with her powers.

Attack #1a - Violent Revenge!
[Once activated this attack shoots a more powerful bolt of negative energy from Corvus's hands towards the enemy (think amplified magic missile!). Unlike the previous attack, this bolt can either be focused as one solid attack against Corvus's aggressor or split between two 'enemies'.]
  • Duration: Instantaneous upon attack's release. Can only be cast three times during a battle; only once if she focuses all of her power in responding to a strong magical attack.
  • Avoidable: If the enemy knows what's coming and is fast on their feet or has a strong defense, yes. Against weaker enemies (youma, for example), it's almost always a hit and, as a solid bolt, is often deadly. As a split bolt the damage is halved between the two attacking divisions.
  • Downside: Vengeance never throws the first punch. Enemy must attack and deal damage to Sailor Corvus first before she can attack with her powers. (Although if the enemie's attack is magical as opposed to physical the power of Corvus's counter-attack may be amplified accordingly.)

Attack #2 - Murder of Vengeance!
[Once activated this attack summons a murder (flock) of astral crows (Three per enemy standing against Corvus herself. Number does not multiply for enemies who have not struck out against Corvus) which are then under Corvus's command for the duration of one round. On her command the crows will attack a single target as a unit with beating wings, scratching talons and pecking beaks. Note: The crows are marked with dark spots for the stars of the constellation Corvus. Please see 'Downside' for significance.]
  • Duration: Two posts from Corvus: Summon/Command [1], Second Command [2]. Murder will dissolve into stardust at the start of the third post. Can only be cast once per battle, generally as a last resort.
  • Avoidable: If the enemy is fast on their feet or quick to catch on to the crows' weaknesses, yes! A weaker enemy is unlikely to be able to avoid the attack, leaving them to be pecked apart.
  • Downside: Each crow in the murder is marked with the four main stars of the constellation Corvus on its body. Any enemy attack that strikes through the star-point on the head or on the chest will immediately dismiss that crow. [Roll 1d20; 16-20 with a piercing weapon hits the star, 19-20 with a non-piercing weapon hits the star]

Extended Information

  • What's the attack's range?
    Senshi: 20ft radius.
Super: 50ft radius; if split into two, enemies must be within 15ft of each other.
Eternal: 50ft radius. In order to attack multiple enemies, enemies must be within 5ft of each other.

  • Is damage of the attack based off of how much damage is done to her or will getting hit "activate" her ability to use it?
Senshi: Being dealt damage activates the ability. Ability deals the same amount of damage no matter what damage is dealt to Corvus.
Super: Being dealt damage activates the ability. Ability deals the same amount of damage as it did in Attack 1, amplified only in the case of magical attacks. The strength of the magical attack determines how many times Corvus can focus to counter (three against weak (x1), two against moderate (x1.5), one against uber-strong (x2).
Eternal: Generally used as a last resort/finishing attack in addition to other attacks dealt (either just by Corvus, or by Corvus and whatever team she may have joined by then). A 'coup de grâce', so to speak. It can be assumed that damage will have been dealt by both sides before Corvus resorts to this attack so I'm not certain the question applies to this attack. XD

  • What if she's hit with another magic attack? Still acts like normal? (regarding Sailor stage)
If the magic attack is damage dealing she can respond with her regular attack. Only in the Super stage can she amplify her own attack when dealt magical damage.

Also, in that vein, if a senshi/guardian cat punches her, would that let her counter-attack with Revenge?
If the punch is meant to harm her as opposed to being a friendly punch, yes. This would play into the 'no grey area' flaw.

  • What if damage to Sailor Corvus has been healed? There are a few Senshi coming who can heal damage; does it still count for powering up her attacks?
It would count as the damage will have already been done... Unless the healing was of a time-reversal sort of nature (ala Orihime from Bleach?) to make the damage as if it were never done in the first place as opposed to healing something that's clearly been dealt.

Solo #1 - The Aftermath of Awakening

It wasn't a bad dream. It was a nightmare.

Once she figured out how to power down she'd sank down on the roof top that she'd managed to escape to and cried until she was dried out and aching. It was late enough now that she was certain that she would be locked out of the dorms. She had lost her packages, she had lost her wallet... Everything had gone to hell and she had so many questions and not nearly enough answers.

Pushing herself up she wiped her nose on her sleeve, sniffling as she looked around for the escape. Heights weren't exactly her favorite thing but she wasn't left with much of a choice, which she kept in mind as she climbed down, dropping down the last five feet of the ladder to tumble onto the ground. There she lay for a moment, contemplating a bit of everything before pushing herself back up, hating how much she felt like a crumpled rag doll when all she needed to do was tap into some of that inner strength in order to make it safely back to her dorm room.

It took her longer than she would have liked to make her way through the side streets, nervously glancing over her shoulder from time to time. Luckily she knew how to get in through the Crystal Academy gate and from there it was just a matter of finding an open window to sneak back into the dorm itself... If she was lucky her roommate would be asleep and she'd be able to grab her pajamas and the first aide kit and slip into the bathroom to clean herself out. A nice, hot shower would be wonderful...

The open window wasn't as hard to find as she'd thought it would be and climbing in made her feel like more of a delinquent than anything else, but she supposed she'd get used to it. She would have to, really, if she was going to take this whole senshi thing seriously. Hadn't she heard word on the news that the mysterious mistresses were often seen at all odd hours of the night... And even during the day. What about school? What about friends? What about family?

She leaned against the wall in the hallway for a moment, closing her eyes as she fought the panic threatening to well up again. This was not the place to be having another break down. She had gotten this far, hadn't she? She had made it off of the roof. She had made it through down. She had made it into the building. "You're not going to quit here, Cordelia. You're not."

Swallowing hard, she pushed herself away from the wall, making her way back down the hall before ducking into the stairwell. From there she pulled herself up the stairs one at a time, so very glad when she finally reached her floor, pausing in front of her door, hand hesitating as it reached for the door knob. She was going to have to come up with a good excuse for all of this if Imogen was awake... Maybe, if she was lucky, she wouldn't be.

Solo #2 - I'm Fine, I Promise

She had opted for skipping her first class of the day... Not because she was tired, which would have served as a good enough excuse any other time, but because she knew there were phone calls that needed to be made and she couldn't just wait until later to take care of them. What she hadn't anticipated was for her phone to ring just as she was about to pick it up to call the credit card company.

Her heart skipped as she saw the word 'Home' flashing on her screen. "... Oh no. No, no, no..." She closed her eyes tightly, cursing beneath her breath to get it out of her system before flipping her phone open to answer it. "... Mom? Isn't it a bit early for phone calls? Why aren't you at wo--"

Instantly she was cut off by a barrage of words and if there had been any doubt as to which parent she'd gotten her inclination towards talking a mile a minute from it was now gone. "Mother... Mother, calm down. I'm fine. No, I'm not in the hospital. I'm here. At Crystal Academy. Trying to get ready for class." A lie, but her mother didn't need to know that she had every intention of skipping.

She listened to the silence for a moment as her mother took in what she'd said before rattling off another round of twenty questions.

"Mother, I swear, I'm fine. I just left the mall a bit later than I should have and... It's silly, really, but there was a cat in the alley. It knocked over a trash can and I got scared and I just... With all of these attacks they've been talking about on the news," the ones she wouldn't have even known about if her roommate hadn't mentioned them, "I dropped my things and ran. Yes, it's a good thing the police found them. No, I hadn't canceled the cards yet. I was going to do that when..."

Again she paused as she was cut off by her mother, making a mental note to listen to herself the next time she was in the middle of a conversation least she find herself doing the same thing. "Mother. I have a room mate here at Crystal now. Yes, Imogen, remember? I know I've mentioned her at least once... She would have been worried sick if I hadn't come back. Yes, I understand I should have at least called... Yes... Yes..." She sighed, leaning against her dresser in defeat.

"I'm sorry, mother. I didn't mean to make either you or Daddy worry. Would dinner be enough to make it up to the two of you?" It usually was when she did something silly like spend over her limit (which she had been quite careful not to do recently) but this was different. This was actually serious.

"I'll swing by the police station after class to claim my things and then I'll meet you and Daddy at that little Italian place he loves. Six o'clock? Alright... Yes... Mmhm... I love you too, Mom. See you at dinner!"

She closed her phone once her mother had hung up, tossing it onto her bed before shifting so that she could collapse onto the mattress beside it. "Ugh..." Hopefully this wasn't what being a Sailor Scout was going to be all about. If it was she was going to have to find out what the return policy on Henshin Pens was...

Solo #3 - In Dreams We Fall (Cross-posted from here.)

Free falling. It was something that Cordelia Carden, now also Sailor Corvus, had become used to the feeling of. It was how she knew that she was doing it now, only this time there was no hand reaching out to catch her. There was no chance. No hope.

She was going to die like this.

Gasping she sat up in the darkness, heart pounding as she brought a slender hand up to rub at her face before looking around. Something still wasn't right, even in waking. "Imogen? Imo?"

Her calls went unanswered, the bed just across from her own in the Crystal Academy dormitories left empty. The sheets were neatly tucked, the covers still folded. Had Imogen never come home? No, she clearly remembered talking to her before they'd gone to sleep.

Maybe she was still dreaming...

Cordelia Carden closed her eyes tightly, bulling her own down comforter up over her head as she took a slow, even breath. "This is silly... It's just a dream." She murmured as she tossed the cover back down, opening her eyes to nothingness; a complete black void that seemed as though it was going to swallow her... And then she started falling again.

This time her descent into the darkness was controlled, not by a hand reaching out to help her, but by the shadows themselves. She could feel them moving, pulling, beckoning... Pressing.

Her throat closed and she tried to gasp again, only this time she didn't wake up in her bed as she had before. No, this time she hit something hard; the end of her fall.

She could feel cold cobblestones beneath her palms, warm tears streaming down her pale face as she tried to find her breath again. Cordelia pushed herself up, eyes wide as she searched for something familiar, never mind that all of this was familiar. She knew this alley... It was the alley where she'd nearly lost her life to the Negaverse, the night she'd become Sailor Corvus.

Swallowing hard she turned, trying to make her way out of the alley. No matter how hard she tried, though, she kept finding herself right back in it, drawn back into the shadows and the nightmare of everything that had been. The only difference now seemed to be that she was alone. Completely alone.

This time instead of trying to walk away she turned into it, heading for the back of the alley where the shadows were waiting for her again. She could feel her lip quiver, tears falling again as she felt the darkness embrace her, something so familiar about it...

Once again Cordelia Carden found herself alone, surrounded by the never ending black of the shadows. Her bare feet slid across the cold, black floor and she knew when she heard the sound of ticking heels on marble that she was no longer the only soul lost in the night.

Something at that moment made her panic and she took off running, tangled hair streaming behind her as she fled. It was a bad horror movie come to life; a dream she couldn't wake up from with an unknown entity taking chase behind her until she stumbled, skidding across the smooth ebony surface beneath her. "Please..."

Cordelia heard her voice mimicked behind her, the tone mocking and disdainful in a way she knew her own voice had sounded various times before. She wanted to push herself up, she just had to run faster, she needed to escape...

Whatever it was that had been following her paused, the sound of heels finally clicking to a halt. She soon felt the rough grasp of slender fingers wrapping around her arm, hoisting her to her feet and giving her a rough shake before embracing her. She could feel feathers brushing lightly against her shoulders along with the smooth touch of familiar gloves...

And then she was falling again; they were falling together.

---

When she woke up this time it was for real, panting softly with strands of sweat-damp hair clinging to her face. She closed her eyes once slowly, opening them to glance around. She was back in her room, safe at Crystal. Imogen was sleeping soundly in her bed.

She wasn't alone.

Cordelia took a deep breath before settling back down, pondering her dream as she closed her eyes once more. She wasn't alone. No matter what had happened in the dream, she knew the truth in waking... Even if she fought it tooth and nail, she wasn't alone and would never have to be...

Solo #4 - Valentine's Day

Upon hearing that Meadowview Highschool had set up a carnations booth for Valentine's Day Cordelia Carden had made a beeline for it, even if it meant risking a chance at bumping into any undesirables... Like that b***h from the bookstore.

She made arrangements and paid for flowers to be delivered to Demetri and his boyfriend along with Imogen and Ume, almost wishing that she knew just a little more about Sailor Eridanus, if only so she could have sent one to him... Well, maybe she would have. Boys were so confusing.

Sighing softly she pulled her headphones back on, humming along the the first song filled with romantic notions that popped up on her mp3 players current playlist. If anything, it made the walk back to Crystal Academy feel as though it was going just a little bit faster... Just a little.

Tugging her headphones down around her neck she fumbled with the key to her room before letting herself in, smiling with delight at the sight of flowers lying in wait for her on her bed. It was nice knowing that others had thought of her on a day like this, even if she hadn't had as much time lately (what with running patrols and studying).

There was one from Demy and one from Zac, neither boys she was overwhelmingly thrilled to be getting flowers from, although it was a bonus that they were at least white ones... There was another white carnation from Ume and a beautiful orange carnation from Imogen.

Once all of those had been neatly organized she paused, eyes falling to the red one. Red, if she recalled correctly, had been the color they were sending out to symbolize love. "Who...?"

Cordelia's brow furrowed slightly as she plucked the flower from where it had been lying on her bed, carefully holding it by the stem with one hand as her other came up to turn the tag over so that she could figure out who the culprit was.

Carnation Message

To: Cordelia Carden, Crystal Academy
From: The Hillworth Boys
Flower Color: Red
Message: We love your fat a**, Cordy <333

We love your fat a**, Cordy... "We love your fat a**?" Her voice was filled with indignation and at least a little bit of rage as she read the tag again... And again, until she could pull herself back down into rational thought.

"That b***h." She knew exactly who had sent it, or at least she thought she did. And one day, hopefully soon, she would walk right up to Veronica and slug her. Hard.

"I'll show her a fat a**..." She muttered as she tore the little tag away from the ribbon holding it to the flower. Huffing softly she let the paper crumple between her fingers before letting it flutter into the trash as she made her way over to the small vase that she'd arranged the other flowers in.

The crimson carnation was added in along with the others, positioned easily in the arrangement right next to the orange one, surrounded by soft, fluffy white. That done she stood back and smiled, leaning in after a moment to breathe in their scent. They would have been better as roses, but carnations would do just fine for right now.

Cordelia cast them one last glance, smiling brightly before grabbing her mp3 player so that she could head out again. She had a few more flowers to send out now and then she'd see about maybe doing a little shopping. Like hell she'd just let Veronica ruin something as special as love.

Solo #5 - The Secret Side of Me (Cross-posted from here.)

Her feet were bare, her body cold as she made her way down the narrow, sterile hall; that opening scene alone was enough to alert her to the fact that she was dreaming... Yet try as she might, she couldn't shake herself awake, not even the pressure of a pinch against exposed arms enough to jolt her. "It's just a dream... Just a dream, Cordy. You just... Have to get through it and then you can wake up."

Cordelia Carden swallowed hard as she pressed on, shaky hand sliding along the wall to guide her through the dark for what seemed like forever. The chill continued to follow her along with the ominous feeling that there were eyes watching her. This theme seemed to repeat, no matter what the dream. She was always being watched... And she was always alone.

"A little light would be nice." She muttered bitterly as her fingers curled around what she believed to be the corner of a wall at the crossroad of intersecting halls, blinded seconds later as she stepped forward into a room that was most certainly not a continuation of the dark hall she had been walking down. One hand came up to shield her eyes as she peered around the circular room, brow furrowing as her vision adjusted. Pedestals? Why would a round room be filled with...

Her gaze continued to rise until eyes settled on the first cloaked figure. Something about this scene was familiar, at least, and became even more so as she turned on the balls of her feet. Each pedestal was of a varying height; each one not really a pedestal but a strange throne-like seat with a high back... And in each seat there sat a figure cloaked in a black hooded robe. She might have laughed at her mind's creation had it not felt so ominous, and had the first figure not dropped their hood just as the corner of her lips twitched in the slightest smirk.

"... Ume?" Cordelia froze at the piercing stare she was receiving from the girl she knew to be one of her dearest friends; one of the few female friends that she could actually stand being around outside of school. That stare, that feeling of absolute loathing was not something she had ever come to associate with the dark haired girl.

The other cloaked figures seemed to follow Ume's lead, one by one dropping their hoods to reveal their 'true natures' until she stood facing those that she had let past her inner walls; the few that she considered 'friends'. Ume, Demy (with Zac sitting in the throne beside him, their fingers idly interlocked although both were too busy staring her down to acknowledge the fact), Imogen... Eridanus...

While Ume's appearance had startled her it was the last that made her eyes sting with bitterness, gaze finally lowering as she swayed on her feet before taking an awkward step back. She would have fled back down the hall, disappeared forever into the darkness to wander the halls for an eternity if it meant escaping those looks. They were supposed to be her friends. He was supposed to be her teammate...

Ume brought her slender hand up and the door (one that she hadn't even known was there) slammed behind her. Her knees went weak and her entire body must have trembled because she could feel their eyes all on her again... And laughter. Demy's laughter. "Who's the freak now, Dolly?"

Her fingers curled into fists, jaw setting firmly as she lifted her eyes to meet her mocker. It seemed that they had all shed their robes now, each and every one of them now wearing a distinct uniform. A distinct militaristic uniform. "No..."

"Yes. Can't you just see what you're missing out on, Dolly? We're all here... Everyone you cared about, everyone you loved. No one can stand you... Right?" She saw Demy's brow quirk as he tilted his head towards Zac, looking for some sort of confirmation; a pat on the back (or on the a**).

"Demy..." She could feel her nails digging crescents into her palms as she clenched her hands tighter, refusing to let him get to her. Not here. Not in her own dream.

"Lieutenant, Dolly. It's Lieutenant when you address me, or any of the others in this room. Especially me, though. I told you I'd get even." The smirk on his face was unlike anything she had ever seen on Demetri Wright's face before. Never in all the time that they had known each other had he looked at her as though she was little more than gum stuck to the bottom of his shoe.

It hurt. It hurt more than she had ever thought it would.

"What's wrong, Cordelia? Is the truth really that hard to face?" The voice that addressed her now was calm and collected, hardly different from the voice she knew. This one, at least, she had expected the contempt from. It was the same contempt that she'd been faced with upon their first meeting.

"You... You little..." She sneered at Zac, Z, Lieutenant Whoeverthehell only to find her words cut short by a hand at her throat, the action nearly choking her as her eyes blurred momentarily, drawn back only by the sound of another familiar voice.

"Cordelia... So that's your name." The closeness of the voice made her knees weak and for a moment she was almost willing to forget that this was a nightmare; that the source of the voice was trying to harm her. "You know... I'd wondered about it. Wondered about you... But you wouldn't even let me get close. At least not this close..." Before she knew it the fingers were sliding away from her throat and slowly down her arm, replaced by lips that caught her off guard, playing out like a scene from a cheap romance novel until she felt something plunge into her chest.

Full lips formed a shocked 'o', eyes wide at the breath-stopping pain as they met a gleaming crimson gaze. "Ume... Why?" Cordelia wasn't certain as to whether or not the words made it past her lips, but that was what she had wanted to say. Why? The questioned echoed in her head unspoken, again and again...

"Because, Cordy. This is what you wanted, isn't it? To have friends, to never be alone. This is the cost. This is the price you have to pay." Those words were the last she could clearly recall hearing before she felt a sharp yank, the television screen of her mind showing a decidedly proud look on Nega!Ume's face as her starseed was ganked free.

Somewhere in the background she could've sworn Demy was saying 'Lemme see! Lemme see!'. Zac would have shoved him... Or taken him by the hand to guide him down to Ume's side like a parent showing a child how to approach a fish tank for the first time... And Eridanus? Eridanus...

...

"Eridanus!" She sat up quickly, hand instantly coming up to rest on the center of her chest where she could still feel the ache as though she were no longer whole. Her hand then drifted up to her throat where she was certain there was a bruise... Why had it been so real this time? Why...

Her brow furrowed as her eyes drifted across the room to the glowing numbers on her clock, a soft curse parting her lips as the digits changed. "Oh, no... No... I'm late!"

Solo #6 - Feels Like Fear (Cross-posted from here.)

There was blood on her hands. She could feel it... Thick, wet and heavier than she had ever imagined. Her eyes lingered on it for a moment as she flexed her fingers slowly, trying to pinpoint just what it was that fascinated her. Was it the way it made her gloves, already snug against her skin, seem to merge with her fingers? Was it the sheen? Was it...

"Don't worry, Dolly. It gets easier."

Her brow furrowed at the sound of the voice and like a predator guarding its prey she growled. The power that was usually cloistered deep within her blossomed until there was a visible aura of dark energy surrounding her, licking at her skin and catching her hair so that raven black curls floated around her face. Eyes once filled with love now seethed with a storm of passionate loathing.

"Psh. I'm not here to steal your kill, Dolly. Kinda hard with the mess you made there. I mean damn. Is there even anything left?"

Again that low growl, plush lips curling back slightly this time so that she could bare her teeth at the boy who, at one point, she had considered a friend. He was different now though... They both were.

"Don't call me that."

"... Or what?" There was a certain air of cockiness in the blonde's voice, his goo-green eyes gleaming just as bright as hers swirled dark. "I'm next? Is the big bad senshi going to steal my starseed too?" He stuck his lower lip out in a mocking pout, everything about his stance egging her on until he brushed it all off with a snort. "Please. Like I didn't teach you all you know..."

Corvus closed her eyes, teetering on the verge of releasing enough energy to obliterate him, and quite possibly herself in the process. As much as she might have enjoyed it the Powers that Be must have had other ideas for her actions. The scenery changed, slowly morphing from the bloody alley scene into something more reminiscent of an actual nightmare as opposed to a memory.

...

Stormy eyes opened to gaze out over the turbulent wastelands. A sea of shadows stretched out for miles below the jagged edges of the cliff she stood on. The balance in this particular world seemed so precarious, just waiting for that one thing that would send it all to pieces.

It came in the form of a young man dressed in a doctored-up version of his own militaristic fashion, lazily twirling a blazing blue glowstick between his fingers. "So this is where you come when you're trying to get away from it all? That's pretty ********' weird, Dolly."

Her eyes remained fixed on the horizon, the dark aura slowly bleeding away from her, seeping into the ground before spreading out through the shadows and up into the sky. She watched on as the clouds changed, the usual gray darkening until they were nearly black. The very air around her crackled until she held her hand out so that the dark energy, the power of her constellation, her star, gathered at her fingertips.

"Do you have any idea... What power like this feels like?" Her voice was soft; the only thing that seemed to be calm within the planes of her mind. "Knowing that this... All of this... Is just gathering inside you. Right. Here." She stepped forward, jabbing her former friend in the chest where, mirrored across from him, there was a hole as black as the void in her own.

The arrogance had faded from his face and had she been herself she could have smirked... Would have smirked. Instead she let her fingers remain on his chest, slowly smoothing out from the fingertips until her palm was lying flat on the front of his jacket, the flutter of his pulse something she hadn't expected to take such delight in. It wasn't joy or anticipation that made his heart race; she wasn't his type. It was something else and that, of all things, intrigued her.

Air that had been still before began to move, tugging at sheer sleeves while causing the airy fabric of her dress to conform to the curves of her body. "Well? Do you?" She murmured as gloved fingers curled to grasp his jacket, face void of emotion as she yanked him closer, their positions rotating so that now he was the one closer to the edge of the cliff.

"This is what it feels like..." Her voice became harsh as she shook him, feeling him tremble as she pushed him back towards the edge. "This is what it feels like, Demetri!" One more shove and he was falling, the shadows devouring him as she stood passively and watched as one by one the last of his outstretched fingers were engulfed by the darkness that seemed to reach all.

"It feels... Like fear."

---

Cordelia snapped awake, limbs tangled in sheets that she now struggled to toss off of her. She was nearly sobbing by the time she stumbled into her bathroom, flicking the light on. The bright, white light still didn't seem to be enough to chase away the lingering darkness; not when it felt as though it had somehow managed to seep into her skin.

She reached out to turn the faucet on, finally bringing herself to glance down at trembling hands. There was no blood, although she could still feel it as though it had just been there. Frantically she thrust her hands under the water, leaving them there before grabbing the soap so that she could scrub them clean. So much blood...

One hand slid out of the water to grab the towel from where she had left it hanging when she had washed her face before bed. She dried her hands off slowly before turning the water off, glancing at herself in the mirror. Nothing had changed. She was still herself, still Cordelia Edena Carden. There was no hole in her...

Brow furrowing she tilted her head so that she could peer down her shirt to check. No, no hole. It had just been another dream. Another nightmare... But why? Why would she dream of that, of all things... And why Demy, of all people?

First thing in the morning she was going to head out to the occult shop; the same one that she had first met Ume in. She was going to pick up the first book she found on dreams and a dream catcher. "Stupid ******** troll..."

Solo #7 - Catching Dreams

Sunday morning.

Cordelia's parents had left for church together after joining each other for breakfast on the patio. Her mother had peered into her room to question whether or not she felt up to joining them, but it had been clear from her bleary-eyed state that she wasn't. The nightmares had plagued her again and she figured it was high time she did whatever she could to put a stop to it.

After catching another hour or two of uninterrupted sleep she crawled out of bed, running fingers back through her tangled hair as she made her way to the bathroom. While she felt as though she could have spent at least half of the rest of the day just soaking in the shower she kept it quick, drying off just as quickly before dressing.

Comfort was on Cordelia's mind more than fashion, although she did manage to make herself presentable. Fingers smoothed the patterned t-shirt made of soft cotton down over her stomach, tugging lightly at the hem. It was a little short (maybe she had gotten a little taller), but it met the suede of her skirt. Matching sandals were slid onto her feet, lip gloss, henshin pen and both cell phones tucked into her purse along with her wallet before she made her way downstairs.

Although she had initially had every intention of letting her hair dry in the open air as she walked to the end of the drive, and from there on to the shopping district, the sun soon warmed everything to the point of making her flush. She pulled a clip from her purse, pausing to pull her hair up in a hasty twist. That was better, at the very least.

...

Fifteen minutes and several shops later found Cordelia at her destination; paused outside of the occult shop that she had first met Ume McDougal in. Any number of things had kept her from stopping back into the shop. She had wanted to resume her weekly shopping trips, but between school and... Work.

She shook her head slowly as she placed her hand on the door, letting it linger there for a moment before stepping inside. It was comforting, almost, to be greeted by the same 'mystic woman' behind the counter that she usually did, although she was certain that the elderly woman knew that there was something up when she paused by the counter instead of wandering past like she usually did. "What... Can you tell me about dreams?"

For the next half an hour the two of them talked. Or, rather, the clerk talked and Cordelia listened, following after her as she was lead to a corner of the store that she had never really spent that much time poking around in before. There were various bits of beaded leather, and so many feathers... Hanging from the ceiling, and from the wall, were circles wrapped in rawhide with bits of string captured and crisscrossed. It was almost like a spider web. "What are those?"

"Those?" The woman smiled, grey eyes seeming just a little bit brighter as crowsfeet appeared on either side of them; a sign that she had certainly smiled much throughout her youth. "Those are dream catchers. You see... The Native Americans believe that dreams, good and bad, can find their way to you through the air at night. Good dreams, well, they're wiser than bad dreams. They know how to pass through the dream catchers; they slip right through the holes and slide right down the feathers where they come to you.

"Now... Bad dreams? They don't know the way as good dreams do. They get tangled in the dream catcher and with the first rays of sunlight touch the web they just disappear."

Her eyes lifted to the array of dream catchers as she listened to the elder woman's words. "They just... Disappear?" She glanced back down, watching the storekeeper nod before heading back to the counter as another customer came in.

Clearly the story was all that Cordelia had needed to be told in order to sell her. Minutes later she walked out of the shop with six dream catchers, each wrapped carefully in tissue paper to preserve their 'magic' until she could deliver them to each of the friends that she'd had in mind while making her purchases. Hopefully, if she was lucky, these things... These dream catchers... Would be able to help them all.
