The knob seemed to rattle more than it usually did as she turned it, the door creaking more than she could ever remember it creaking as she pushed it open. All of the sounds around her seemed so magnified, like fate was against her and she was doomed to wake up her roommate... Or maybe it just seemed that way because she was trying so hard not to make any noises.

She bit down lightly on her lower lip as she nudged the door shut behind her, pausing to lean against it as she tugged her boots off, letting them fall to the side as her eyes adjusted to the lack of light in the room. She was thankful, at least, that she knew the layout well enough to make her way over to her dresser, hissing slightly at the sound of the wood groaning as she pulled the drawer open.

"Shhh. Just be quiet, ok?" She murmured as she rooted around for one of her camisole tops and her favorite pair of soft fleece pajama bottoms. All she wanted right now was comfort. She should've just gone home.

When Imo got off to sleep, she slept like the dead until the morning, when it was time to get up and go jogging before getting ready for classes. However the getting to sleep in the first place could be a problem, if she wasn't tired. She had naturally high amounts of energy and spent a good portion of her day wearing herself out so she could sleep. Otherwise she'd stay up until the early hours before finally conking out around dawn, which threw her off entirely. Tonight was one of those days where she was still feeling pretty energetic and was laying in the dark. She'd drunk a warm drink, had tried counting sheep, clearing her mind, getting comfier...she was just turning over with a sigh when she heard the door go.

Cordy was back! Imo smiled warily in the dark, listening to her roommate move about the room. It was sweet she was trying to be courteous and quiet. Normally Imo would have been asleep and dead to the world. if she had any luck she soon would be but for now -

"Don't worry about it Cordy. I'm awake." No need to worry about it. Allllready up.

She nearly jumped out of her skin at the sound of a voice coming from the darkness behind her, heart pounding hard in her chest as she turned. "Oh, Imo... It's just you. Sorry. I was trying to be quiet, I know it's late. I..." She shook her head slowly, lightly worrying her lip with her teeth.

This wasn't like her at all, not bright, bold Cordelia. Truth be told, it was clear even in the dark shadows of their room that she was a wreck, fingers tightly grasping her pajamas as she tried not to tremble. "Please don't tell anyone I didn't make it back before curfew."

"Wouldn't dream of it! You don't tell on me when I get in late from dancing and stuff." Her bed creaked as Imo stretched lesuirely and tried laying on her back. At this rate she'd be sneaking down to the gym to run laps for a bit and dodging cerfew herself. She reached out and pressed the button on her alarm clock. It was silver and had a little black display you couldn't see in the dark, but when you pressed the button it flung up the time projected red where ever you had it pointed at. Up on the ceiling, 10:47 appeared.

"Though is pretty late...get caught up out there?" She asked casually.

"I..." She sniffed, holding her pajamas just a little bit closer. "I went shopping, and you know how that goes." One hand let go of the fabric so that she could wave it dismissively as if it were nothing, even though it was clearly something.

"You know all of those stories? Everything that they keep talking about on the news? I didn't... I didn't think Destiny City had gotten that bad." Again there came the sound of a sniffle as she tried to hold herself together. "Why is it that you never think about it until something happens to you?"
PostPosted: Thu Feb 11, 2010 5:21 pm

"Cordy, I pretty much assume everyone's at least seen the stuff in the news once now. Seems everyone I ask has and I've run into monsters four times myself. Destiny's not so safe, y'know?" Imo sat up in bed. So much for sleeping, she was more awake rather than sort of dozy. She hugged her pillow to her and peered over at the shadowy shape that was her roommate. The red display from her clock turned off after a few seconds and she almost felt like reaching to turn the bedside light on.

"Are you okay...?" Her concern was obvious. She knew what was out there and they weren't friendly.

"I hadn't seen any of it before. Monsters are in stories and muggers are in movies and..." She shook her head. "They aren't just in movies. There are bad things lurking in the alleys and my wallet is gone and I'm scared and it hurts... And I don't know what my parents are going to think when I tell them I lost Daddy's credit card."

The credit card, she was certain, would be the least of their worries. Her parents loved her, after all. It was why they'd sent her here to Crystal Academy; because it was the best school for their only daughter and she wouldn't have to worry about being alone all of the time while they were at work.

She sniffled again, bringing her hand up to wipe at her face as she shook her head. "I'm sorry, Imogen. I don't know... I shouldn't be this worried. Everything will be fine..." The police would have her wallet by now, no doubt, so she wouldn't have to worry about racked up fees on stolen credit cards. "I just need to get cleaned up, I'll be okay."

It hurts? That was it.

Imo's heart clenched with a mix of empathy and sympathy. She'd been there. Her bag had been riffled through where she'd had to drop it to run and she's been scared and hurt. She reached over to flip the light on and put her pillow down. She'd had to go get stitches and get salves on burns and put bandaids on her own scrapes. But if Cordy'd let her, she'd help her get cleaned up or at least make her a hot drink or something.

"Hey, it'll be okay, you're home now and it's over. What hurts? And we can get your card canceled first thing in the morning."

Home. That wasn't a word that she'd ever associated with the Crystal Academy dormitories despite the fact that they had essentially been her home away from home for the past few years. She'd lived here throughout the week for so long that it felt like she had a place of her own, away from family, alone. But she wasn't alone now, despite her attempts to be. There were, amazingly enough, people who cared.

"I fell on the ice in the alley. I probably have gravel in my palms, and my hair is probably a mess..." That wasn't a physical ache, but the complaint was at least enough to make her crack a smile which seemed to be what she needed. "I don't think I broke anything, or cut anything. I... I got really lucky. This cat came and the mugger got scared and ran."

A likely enough story, and not completely off base with what had really happened.

"A mugger...not good but could have been worse. Least it wasn't a dragon or something." Imo shook her head. A human had hurt her roomie? Yeesh. Like they didn't have enough to worry about with monsters - sorry, 'teenagers in costume' as the media still tried to call them sometimes - running about, despite the senshi's best efforts. They still had good old fashioned violet crime to contend with too.

"I'm glad you got away safe Cordy - I'm putting the kettle on while you wash up and then we'll grab the first aid kit, if you need it, sort out your hands." She smiled a worried sort of smile. "Unless you'd like me to butt out? Just worried for you is all."

"A dragon might have come along with a knight, though... White horse, nice hair, gorgeous eyes." Her lashes fluttered as she let loose a dreamy sigh, seemingly working on finding her way back to herself... Slowly but surely.

"Tea sounds... Really great, Imo. Thank you." She managed a soft smile of her own, holding up her pajamas a second later. "I'm going to hop in the shower and assess the damage. We'll see if we still need the first aid kit after a little soap and water." She nodded, making her way towards the door to their bathroom, pausing just short of it to turn around and look at the other girl. "... I really appreciate all of this. Really."

"What're roomies for?" She smiled sincerely at the other girl, who she considered a friend in the making, before gesturing to the bathroom. "You get your shower and I'll have tea ready for when you get out."

Imo crossed over to the sideboard in their room where there was a kettle and a mini fridge. Some dorms used it for a long desk space, others made it a place to put books and belongings, but they had a little mini kitchenette at one end because who didn't fancy a late night hot chocolate sometimes? And they could hardly go down to the student communal kitchens after cerfew.

Luckily the kettle was full, so Imo just flipped the switch and waited.

She didn't take as long in the shower as she would have if Imogen hadn't been awake. Instead of soaking away her sorrows she scrubbed at them until her skin was pink before finally stepping out to slip into the comfort of her pajamas. She still had her towel in hand, running it through her hair as she stepped out of the bathroom, wisps of steam floating after her.

"Make sure to get the kettle before it whistles so we don't wake anyone..." She smiled, looking slightly better if not tired. "Do we still have some of the chamomile left over?" Her brow lofted as she lowered her towel, glancing over at her roommate. Somewhere, in all of this, there was still the lingering unspoken feeling of 'I'm really glad they moved you into my room'.

"How's your hands?" She asked as she found the right teabags with a rustle and with as little clunking about as possible got out their mugs. The kettle was nabbed before the whistle went off and soon two mugs steamed. Soothing chamomile for Cordy and smokey rich lapsang souchong for her. Imo offered Cordy another smile along with her mug.

"That's the last of the chamomile. I'll pick up another box tomorrow, I need to n** to the shops anyway...did you loose anything else besides your credit card?" She leaned against the side board and took a sip of tea. She felt very awake and while feeling a jumble of concern for her roomie, didn't feel suspicious of her story at all. Poor Cordy.

She took her mug happily, letting the warmth of it sink into her fingers as they wrapped around it. Making her way a bit closer she paused to add a bit of honey to her tea before turning her hand over to glance at her palms. "Just a bit scraped... No real damage that a bit of care and some hand lotion won't eventually soften up." The real problem was the bruise already blossoming on her side, but she was certain she would be able to avoid making mention of that, not wanting to worry the other girl.

"Mm... The bags from my shopping trip, although it wasn't as much as it usually is. Mostly small things. There was probably some cash in my wallet too, but..." She shook her head, teeth worrying her lip lightly as she picked up her tea again. "I should've called a cab. I should've done something different..."
