Having successfully cheered up one Demetri Wright as best as she was able to in what time she had, Cordelia now found herself wandering through the halls of Destiny City Memorial hospital. If anyone asked her what she was doing she would claim to be visiting a friend... Or claim to be lost, but in reality she was curious. Just how many girls from her school, or others, had wound up here? How many of them were sailor scouts? How many of them were from the Negaverse?

How many were just normal kids caught up in the cross fire?

Her brow furrowed slightly at that particular thought as she paused off to the side of the hall she had just been meandering down. Her eyes drifted into the nearby room, catching sight of a girl who appeared to be around her own age. She didn't recognize her, which meant she wasn't from Crystal Academy, but...

Gabbie was dealing with her convalesence in the usual ways of kids everywhere. Which was to say BADLY. They'd thankfully take her off of the IV drip and were even talking about how she'd be able to go home in a couple of days as long as nothing happened. Which, okay, she had to admit that the thought of home was awesome. Not eating hospital food was even more awesome.

Having all this time to think about Nealite and the nightmares? Not awesome at all.

And so it was the Gabbie had taken out her cell phone and was flipping through the history, making sure that the police hadn't messed with it. Somehow, she didn't think Astruna would be too happy if something like that were to happen.

Glancing up, she caught sight of a dark haired girl just outside the door.

"You okay? Looking for someone?"

"No, I..." Caught and flustered it was clear that making up stories wasn't something that Cordelia Carden did all that well, at least not in situations like this. Instead she paused and let her mind catch up to her, the flash of the other girl's phone standing out more than anything else.

She grasped on to the knowledge she had of that particular type of phone before shifting, taking a step into the other girl's room. "I was going to say that I was lost, but that would be a poor lie. My mother used to bring me up here all the time to visit my grandmother before she passed. I came up here to visit a friend, actually... How long have you had that phone?" A bit forward, yes, but Cordelia wasn't much one for dancing around things.

The sudden question made Gabbie's eye narrow in suspicion. Still, there didnt' seem to be any overt malice to the strange girl. Just curiosity. I can always try to kick her in the face with the cast if she tries anything, Gabbie consoled herself before adopting a far too casual tone.

"What, this thing? Couple of weeks. Got a good deal and got it for free."

There, that was innocent enough.

"..." It was clear that a part of the dark haired girl wanted to laugh, even if the laughter would have been a bit bitter. Instead she settled for little more than a wry grin as she reached into the side pocket of the backpack she had slung over her shoulder in order to pull out her own dark phone complete with an angry, glaring cat face staring at her from its digital screen.

"I'm not entirely sure that I'd call this a good deal."

"Well, in all honestly," Saiph was allowing the barest hint of a grin to curve her lips as she saw the other girl's phone, "I'd be inclined to agree with you. So. you're one of the lucky ones too, huh? Grumpy Face bothered to check up on you yet?"

She watched the other girl's face and this time, her smile widened.

"Yeah, me neither. Probably for the best."

"The only time her crabbiness has ever addressed me was at the meeting she handed these lovely little devices out during... Beyond that I've done my best to avoid being a blip on her radar, and honestly? I would prefer it that way. If I have any questions that I feel should be brought to a gu--" She paused, glancing lightly over her shoulder into the hall, brow furrowing as she fell silent for a moment before glancing back to the other girl.

"... Do you mind if I come in? Standing this close to the door probably isn't the best place to discuss my opinion on our furry friend."

Nodding eagerly, Gabbie leaned out of the bed enough to grab the one chair and pull it closer.

"Come on in, sit down, have some ice chips, if you're so inclined."

At the moment, Gabbie was the essence of hospitality. Sure, she'd had Barnaby and Minnie visit her, but somehow, it just wasn't the same as someone that she could tell the whole rotten truth too. Someone, who might be able to give her some objective insights.

Cordelia entered the room as she was invited, setting her bag down on the floor beside the chair before easing into it, smoothing out the skirt of the uniform she hadn't had a chance to change out of before coming up to the hospital. For a moment it might appear as though they were just two normal girls settling down for a normal hospital visit, never mind that under the surface there was nothing at all normal about their situations.

"Generally if I have any questions I either keep them to myself... Or I rely on my luck in finding the Cat who's helped me from the start. I don't particularly care for those who have put themselves in our leadership positions in the Princess's absence."

Gabbie put the phone away and sat up a little straighter, twitching her blanket a bit so that it wasn't tangled around her legs. So far, she was liking this girl.

"I'm afraid I haven't really had any run ins with the Cat who helped me at first. Not that, 'O Hai, here's a pen, here's what you yell and oh by the way, find the Princess! Bai!' was really a lot of help in the first place..."

She gave her head an irritable shake at the memory. Chloe could have been so much more helpful. Astuna could have been more helpful. Instead, she'd spent the meeting insulting all and sundry.

"If you mean Astraea and Kunzite, I'm afraid I just found one more similarity between us. I think I respect the Captain, but I don't like her...."

And don't forget, her mind hissed, you have to somehow find her and give her that little message from the witch...

"I was lucky, really, that she found me a few days after our initial meeting. I get the feeling that not many..." She paused for a moment, obviously waffling for terms that would be better to use should a nurse or doctor stop in more than hesitating in talking with the other girl. It was a first, really, as she generally wanted nothing to do with letting others scouts get too close to her. But after the last incident in the park? And the dreams?

"Not many scouts get a chance to have the proper introduction to the program. I don't know if there are any who were lucky enough to have been brought into it under peaceful circumstances, but I know I wasn't." Her brow furrowed, the action soon joined by a slow shake of her head.

"My partner and I generally try to avoid saying either of their names out loud... Just in case either of them has a little bell that rings and saying either name three times in front of a mirror on a dark night could summon them. Wouldn't that be a nightmare?" For a moment she was just another girl, tossing around catty jokes with a friend, and then she was serious again.

"... I respect that they're trying to bring together order out of chaos, but they're going about it the wrong way. What the Captain says we should do feels wrong."

Gabbie signed and twisted her hair out of her face. Man, could she ever attest tot he fact that some didn't get much beyond the Hi and Bye! routine. She'd been going on instinct ever since that day. And look where it had gotten her.

THen, she began to giggle as the other girl tossed out her joke. She could just see those two popping out of a mirror somewhere scolding the entire time.

Sobering, she considered the girl for a long moment before knotting her hands up in the blanket.

"I... I... sort of helped kill one of them. The enemy. Another senshi was with me, I think her name was Nerissa. It was her attack that did it, but I'm the one who beat him up and kept him from being able to escape. I hate it, it feels horrible and I wish I'd never confronted him in the first place."

The words came out in a rush as Nealite's mocking words rang in her ears and tears streamed down her face.

"I hate it."

There was laughter and for a moment she felt like she did when she was around Ume; like the two of them were old friends in a past life just now reconnecting. The feeling of distinct camaraderie dissolved into sympathy as the seriousness returned, her heart aching in her chest as she saw the first of the tears. I hate it...

Cordelia shifted slowly out of her chair, hand reaching out hesitantly for the other girl's shoulder before she shifted so that she could slip her arms around her. She didn't know her name, but she understood the fear, the hurt, the unknown.

"Shh..." She tried her best to comfort the other girl, eventually shifting back so that she could brush a strand of hair away from the other girl's face. "... That's what makes us different than them, you know. We feel pain, loss... My partner, sometimes he's goofy, but he said 'We're supposed to be soldiers. We're here to save lives'. Sometimes..." She swallowed as she straightened herself out, fingers curling into fists. "Sometimes we can't. Sometimes we're going to feel the loss... But that doesn't mean we can't try."

The hospital room fell into eerie silence, her voice soft when she finally broke the quiet with one more comment. "You know what I think? I think she would have felt just as horrible and that's why I won't follow Kunzite's 'suggestions' on how we deal with the enemy."

Something in her words triggered a memory. A male senshi saying those exact words. Smiling through her tears, she replied in a rough, choking voice.

"My job is to protect the ones who need it, Sailor Corvus. Even against one of my own...and I didn't. I shouldn't have let him slip into that whirlpool thing. Should have tried harder."

Sighing she relaxed into the other girl for a moment. It was immensely comforting to have someone who understood and she found herself wishing that Khalla was there too. Khalla always understood also.

"I don't think she'd like it either. I think she would have tried to help them, the way the tree people said she helped the tree the first time."

Cordelia tensed as the other girl called her by her by her name; the name that only those who crossed paths with her when she was henshined up knew. It was strange and at least a little unsettling, given their current scenery, but it meant that there was one more person who knew; one more person that she didn't have to hide things from.

"Cordelia. I'm just Cordelia now. Cordy if you're lucky enough, or unlucky enough depending on who you ask, to be one of my friends. I'm a junior at Crystal Acadamy... And I think she would have tried to help them too, but I'm sure not even she could stop everything. I bet... She was just a girl. Just like us. Just as lost as us." She paused the seriousness, taking a moment to crack another wry grin. "... Do you think Luna was as bad as Astraea?"
