The path back to the portal was a winding, twisting one, and while it may have been easy to sneak down and into the Academy, the Barracks or the Castle, now it was almost impossible to get up. The portal was almost in sight, but there were a few more complications this time around.

Mostly, the wall of youma that were bulging in from all sides, cutting them off.

They didn't seem to know exactly what the Knights and Senshi were headed for; none had noticed the open portal. All they knew was that a large group of enemies had snuck in and attacked the Negaverse.

The attack had caused catastrophic damage so far—the barracks were burning. Smoke pillared from the building and chased away the darkness. The castle's floor was painted red with blood.

Apatite was dead.

The Negaverse was not destroyed, but many had fallen, and some of their most important resources—namely, a huge starseed cache—had been totally depleted thanks to the attack.

Not to mention the Code piece that had been salvaged from the Academy.

But the attack wouldn’t mean much of anything if they didn't get out alive—now you have to try and get through the walls of youma and blood thirsty agents intent on stopping you.

Oh, and a very pissed off General Queen.

Laurelite was usually the tamest of the General Queens—polite and courteous and well mannered.

Now, she wielded her scythe with a cold anger.

Her smile was gone.

These invaders would not be forgiven.

Super Sailor Elpis // Sailor Ferris

Elpis was moving rapidly, motioning for Lacrimos and Cybele to follow, still looking around as she held Ferris' hand. Ferris was in shock and the senshi couldn't keep going, and Elpis wasn't letting the other get trapped and risk death or worse, corruption because of a breakdown due to shock. The last thing she needed was another fight - none of them needed it, but right now she needed Ferris Out and safe. That was her priority, and the senshi paused to look back, mentally bracing for another fight if needed.

Ferris was pulled along with a shake and horror, the Nostalgia senshi shaking as she ra after Elpis, stumbling and trying to purge the memories from her mind. The dying Negaverse officer she killed. The changing, dying Apatite. The senshi using her magic on a general and...

Ferris wailed a bit, Elpis tugging a bit as she kept moving, grimacing as she moved forwards, and Ferris shook, letting Elpis guide her as the Suer Senshi stared at the obstacles, and hissed.

"Hold in there. Gonna see if we three can get a force moving to get through.

She looked back, to Lascrimosa, to Cybele, and anyone else.

"Come on people! If anyone has some offensive powers or something, get your a** up here and frontline! Let's be SMART people!"

Royals present or not, Ferris jumped when Elpis' tone became authorative again, and Ferris shivered again, trying to not cry.

Princess Ganymede

Despite her resolve to stay and fight, despite accepting that she would very likely die here, it did not seem as if the next part of this all important battle would be fought at the castle. The castle was overcrowded with youma and agents, the doors to Metallia inaccessible. There was no where to go but out, stumbling back to the portal that couldn't possibly remain open for much longer.

How long had it been already? How much longer would Caedus be able to keep it open?

Their path to the portal was blocked. Ganymede had known that it would not be so easy to reach, but she'd hoped she could at least get close enough to it to forcefully shove both Valhalla and Gevaudan back through.

There were youma everywhere. Countless agents.

And Laurelite, there with her scythe, showing her face at last.

And Ganymede wondered, did she know that Apatite was dead?

Ganymede came to an abrupt stop, holding her arm out to keep Valhalla behind her. She looked around at those pouring out of the castle, the barracks, the poor, broken shell of a building she felt nothing for but pity. She sought out familiar faces—Gevaudan, Venice, Erebus, Chaldene, Alexandria, Sessrumnir. She looked for Themiscyra, who she thought had gone to one of the other buildings.

“We can make it out,” she said to no one in particular, speaking loud enough for anyone in the vicinity to hear. “Do your best to focus on Laurelite. Take out the leader and the rest might fall into disarray. She looks like she's out for blood. Find something, anything to use as a weapon.”

She still had her broken shoe. If it shattered and she exhausted her magic, she would be defenseless.

“If you see an opening, run like hell to the portal. With any luck, they won't be able to follow us, but I have a feeling our luck is quickly running out. Even if they can follow us, it'll be better if we go through when we can. At least then we won't be stuck here.”

Cordoba

The fire and flames had given Cordoba no reason to remain after the crystal was smashed. Angry, relieved, they had the starseeds as safe as possible, and Cordoba heeded Babylon's word to run readily, bolting to escape with Starseeds in her pckets, the page rushing before grimacing at the sight ahead once outside, and put on the brakes, looking back to Babylon.

"There's enemies up ahead Babylon!" Cordoba called back in warning. "Head's up!"

Sailor Alsafi

Alsafi listened only because it was a fire. While fire wasn't bad, she hadn't started it and the senshi didn't intend to turn into barbeque. She had loot, and - and now there were foes? Did this mean she was burning things now?

The senshi skid to a stop herself, and frowned, beginning to look surly before crossing her arms and sniffing, expression flat.

"Oi, now we have to fight? Man I just got some freakin' loot, and you asses aren't keeping me from my swag!."

...Well, she looked impressive, she felt, the senshi snapping her fingers. She was more interested in admiring her new sparkling treasures in a safer place. Like the point that one dude opened the portal in. Or her room. Or both, to double count.

Both was good, and Alsafi huffed.

"MY LOOT."

Perdita knew they shouldn't have expected to be able to get out of there so easily.

The barracks were burning behind them. In their path were numerous youma and Negaverse agents, and a woman with a scythe whose power was unfathomable. It was similar to the strength of a Senshi Prince or Princess, which she'd felt two of upon arriving, only this aura was naturally darker, almost suffocating.

So this was what a General Queen felt like.

Logically, Perdita knew that she should be intimidated. She was merely a basic level Chibi Senshi, with weak magic and no fighting skills to speak of. She had nothing but a broom to defend herself with. She was with other younger Senshi, and a Guardian Cat. She would pose absolutely no threat to a Captain or to a General, much less a General Queen. She even doubted her abilities to take on a Lieutenant, despite how easily it had been to overpower the agents at the barracks.

Those agents had clearly been incompetent. She knew these ones would not be.

But, all the same, Perdita could not help but be utterly fascinated. This whole mission had resulted in so many firsts. Her first time seeing a Prince or Princess. Her first time seeing the Negaverse's space with her own eyes. Her first time seeing and handling a starseed. Her first time being in the presence of a General Queen.

Awful as it sounded, and dangerous as it was, she would not trade this experience for a life without the chance of it.

“Damn,” she said. She was getting used to this cursing thing. “There's no way to get through. Keep those starseeds safe. I'd hate to lose or break any of them after wasting so much time getting to them.”

Babylon Knight of Mercury

Babylon called his lantern to hand as he cleared the crowded - and rapidly combusting - barracks. "I see them!" he called ahead to Cordoba. Hopefully his rescued starseeds would be safe in his coat's interior pocket - he felt them warm against his chest, as if they could repel the rift's chill. "I don't like the look of those youma."

Hopefully the path would stay clear - but things were about to get a lot more complicated, as their group suddenly converged with the groups fleeing the castle and the ruined academy. <********> Babylon snarled under his breath, raising the lantern higher so that its light blue bounced off the faces around them. Where the hell had Avalon gone?

She had to be somewhere in this crowd, he thought. He wouldn't allow himself to think otherwise.

He muscled his way through the throng, catching up to Cordoba. "General queen up ahead," he said, pointing towards the woman with the scythe who barred the path, like some kind of evil, gender-swapped Gandalf. At the head of those attempting to leave appeared to be Ganymede, and Babylon strained to hear what it was she said. Focus on the big boss. Right.

Sound video game logic.

"I've got a melee weapon and defensive magic," he said to the page at his side. "You're handy with that disk, right?"

Myrrha, Basic Senshi (Scents)

It was an odd sensation. The energy signature of the woman who was up ahead completely dwarfed the signatures of the two generals that she had encountered earlier in the Barracks building. The basic senshi had a feeling that she would be feeling this battle come tomorrow that is if tomorrow came. The bag of starseeds that she carried weighed her left shoulder down but she just could not drop the bag. Myrrha's gaze looked around at the chaos that was starting to unfold. She wanted to find either Sabine or Phact but somehow that seemed like an impossible task at the moment. There was just too much chaos to spot either senshi.

She could see the portal a ways off from where she stood but the path was definitely impeded by multiple obstacles. Running the gauntlet wouldn't work here. Myrrha would have to be smart about what her next move would be. She debated her options. Looked like she would have to fight. The weight of her bag could be made into an impromptu club-like weapon but she'd have to be careful. Her gaze fell to the ground and she picked up a fist sized rock in each hand. Throwing these could work well too as a distraction at least. Her voice came out rather timidly as she hefted her weapons.

"Well there goes the neighborhood I guess."

Sailor Sabine, Senshi of Tactics

Sabine had stopped, once she had gotten what she had considered a "safe" distance from the burning barracks. Hoping against hope that she would be able to regroup with Phact and the others. As it was, she wasn't sure she wanted to try to push through the ovwerhelming chaos ahead alone. Even if she could see others milling and preparing to enter combat. She had no... means... to fight - not really. Her cargo was too precious to risk putting down or getting knocked from her grasp.

Biting her lip, she looked around, suddenly feeling very lost and alone. She'd charged into this head first, and now she was isolated from her support. She resolved herself then, to stay put until she either saw someone she knew - that she could rely on - or she had no other choice and was attacked. As it was, she was going to get her pail of starseeds through the portal - even if she had to die trying.

They would make it home.

Corinth, Page of Neptune

Moving away from the crumbling Academy, Corinth kept his hand in Dallol's he hadn't really stopped moving since he'd put her down outside of it, and he really wanted to check her for injuries, but it seemed the Negaverse wasn't about to let them rest. Shaking his head, he summoned his Drum to his side, shrugging it off his shoulder and grabbing the strap in his free hand.

"Looks like we're gonna have to push our way through, you good to fight?" Corinth asked, looking to Dallol. "Let's do this... together."

There were a large number of youma and agents waiting for them.

Fantastic.

To make matters worse, Palatine was about ninety-nine point nine percent sure that girl with the scythe was a General Queen. It might not be as much of a problem as she envisioned it could be, considering they had at least two Order royals come through the portal with them, but Palatine also knew one of those royals was her kid, and the thought of her kid going up against the girl with the scythe did not delight her in the least.

Looking back over her shoulder again to make sure Varuna was still following her, Palatine left the Academy behind and drew closer to the slowly growing number of Senshi and Knights spilling from the other buildings.

She saw her kid right away, along with Valhalla and a collection of others. Palatine began making her way toward them, keeping an eye out for the Squire and Knight of Mars she'd entered the Academy with. She'd seen Kairatos take the Code into his possession. If they lost it here, that whole adventure with the scorpion would prove to have been a waste of time.

Palatine looked for Sessrumnir, too, since he tended to be her battle buddy.

Maybe he was carrying his flask.

Just kidding. Now was not the time for drinks.

But once this was over, she planned on drinking herself into a stupor.

Super Sailor Phact, Senshi of Doves

As they ran, Phact glanced back at Gorner with a breathy smile. "One of two things...subspace or..." She glanced around to see who was with them. "One person holds and we protect that person..."

Her eyes were clear that she was looking for those who had gone elsewhere. Havasu, Sidouer, Nirvana, Arthur and Slievenamon.

But then she saw another face with a rock in hand. "Myrrha! Over here!" The senshi of doves called out as she began to size up who all was there. The weakest or most injured she would try to get into the middle of them all with the starseeds....at least send them forward with protection.

Those who left the barracks were fine. They just had to protect those starseeds.

Slievenamon, Page of Neptune

Slievenamon ran from the crumbling Academy as if her life depended on it. Well, that's not to say it didn't, but the weight of just how much her life was on the line hadn't sunk in yet. She knew she would die if she didn't make it out of there, but she expected she would, not might. The page nearly fell to her knees when she saw the torrent of youma before all of them, but her conviction seemed firm—she was going to make it out of there, somehow.

Her aqua eyes searched through the throng of people for familiar faces and hers seemed to brighten at the sight of Phact and Sabine. Quickly, she rushed over and joined their company with relief painted on her face. "Oh goodness, am I glad to see both of you!" she said. "I hope you're both all right? I-I know I shouldn't be saying that in the heat of this... this mess... but the thought of anyone seriously hurt just..." She rubbed her arm sheepishly and slightly winced at the rubbing of fabric against the redness brought on from the scorpion youma's venom. "It's dangerous..."

Finding the familiar figures of Sabine he nodded his head to Phact. "One person might be best. Can more easily protect that person...and gives more of us hands and magic to use to protect them." He said with a nod of his head, golden eyes looking around. Pointing out Sabine as they made their way toward her. "Best way I think...and cover it so they do not see it..." He added as an after thought, already willing, if asked, to remove his shirt so they could use it as a nice cover up for their precious cargo. He had yet to use his magic, whatever it was, and it would be helpful if he could use that and he could fight. It was best if he was free and mobile in this fight. He could help in getting them home and the starseeds out.

"I will stay on the outside and protect. I can fight and have not used any magic. I will be more useful protecting the cargo we carry with us." He said carefully, nto about to mention out here, where others could here, just what they had with them.

Nodding his head in greeting to the page of Neptune. "We are good, you are also I hope?" He asked her, wanting to make sure their team members were well, or as well as could be.

Harmonia, Super senshi of Harmony

She was right on Babylons' heels as they ran from the burning barracks behind them. The orange glow of the fire behind them was able to be seen even from where they were on the path. It was a giant beacon to anyone around that something had gone down and that something had not been in favor of the people and things that called the rift home. And as they ran it became apparent that things were taking a nasty turn for the worst.

Aura's began to flicker into existence in front of them as officers and youma alike began to filter in between them and the portal. A certain aura in particular stood out like a homing beacon, a General Queen, only comparable to their own royals. This was not good. Not good at all! Harmonia's anxiety rose to new heights as she practically clutched the makeshift sack of starseeds to her chest.

People were filtering in all around from different areas of the rift. The orders forces were growing as they all began to congregate to return back through the portal. It helped to calm her a bit, knowing that more people were coming but still. That was a lot of youma ahead.

She heard Ganymede's shout to focus on Laurelite. Babylon pointing out the scythe baring woman was certainly not needed, but worked to help focus the young senshi. "I can boost someone's power when needed." She added when Babylon asked the page about her weapon. "I don't know how much help it'll be against her though."

Erebus, Squire of Saturn

He had been shaken by the bodies littering the floor back in the castle but he did his best to push that aside as he lead Venice to where a lot of people on their side was gathering. He could see Ganymede and Valhalla had made it out as he looked around for others he had met. He thought he spotted Phact, Sabine, and Slievenamon at least but he wasn't sure. While looking he was doing his best to help Chaldene and Venice with getting Delphi to relative safety. The adrenaline had pumped higher between his fight with the General and the youma surrounding them so for now he was once again ignoring the damage to his body.

Gevaudan, knight of Ganymeade

Apatite was dead. She was dead in a way he had not expected her to go, and while he was relieved she wasn't going to continue pummeling their faces in, he did feel a deep sense of wrong in what had happened. Then, very easily, he reminded himself that she called Tanzanite half a woman, and quickly dismissed those bad feelings out of his mind. The only thing lingering from the General Queen were the scales she threw out like many shards at him, and the lingering damage on his person.

Clutching his side, he escaped with the rest out of the castle, stumbling out to the main field only to see they were being swarmed by every side It was like the Rift just got turned upside down like a toy box and dumped every monstrosity out for them to play with.

Breathing hard, he looked over at Ganymeade, feeling the overwhelming power of yet another General Queen, the entire army of the Negaverse being summoned, and then the youma.

"You might want to pick your battles on this one. Unless you have a magical bazooka that can take Laurelite in one blast, we have other matters to deal with. That portal is not going to last long, and if we stick around, a big chunk of OUR army is going to be gone to make up for the ones we got rid of here."

He gritted his teeth as he looked ahead. "I don't think that shoe is going to work against a real weapon, Cinderella."
