"... just like everybody else does." She hummed softly to herself, the sway of her body matching the music playing in her ears. It amused her, on some level, that this particular song had come on the moment she'd walked into the shop. It was almost... Fitting.
Eyes opening, she pulled the buds out of her ears, hitting 'stop' on her mp3 player before stuffing it into her back pocket so that she could begin browsing. This place always had the best jewelry; always something new and fresh and, most importantly, it was generally one of a kind. "Hm..." She made her way over to the case she usually started at, pausing for a moment to brush her fingers along the crystals hanging from black cord necklaces just above it. The way they caught the light caught her eyes, causing them to dance. "Might have to get one of those..."

"If you like those" came a quiet voice from not a few feet away, "They have some shaped crystals on the back counter, their just setting it up. Brand new shipment...they always sell out of the prettiest colors quickly."
The girl held up a red crystal on a black velvet cord, it twisted and spun and she lowered it back to the small basket she held.
She flashed a smile at you. "Sorry, You looked like you might be interested." She gave a little shrug.

"Ooh..." Her eyes shined, catching on the crystal the other girl held out first before raising to meet the face of the voice's source. Her look of awe and appreciation quickly turned into a bit of a furrowed brow. "... I know you, don't I?"

"I go to meadwv..." she started to state her school and then tilted her head, looking at the other girl and then broke into a wide smile. "Caroling?" She tiled her head. "I was... wearing the um... I have a sort of Victorian dress?" She said blushing and laughed slightly. "And then there was that... girl who sorta... " She trailed off crinkling her nose with some residual irritation at the 'ever so talented' alto and her snobby attitude, that had rather ruined what had started as a lighthearted christmas endeavor.

"Yes, caroling." She smiled, seeming almost sheepish at the mention of it. She wasn't all that proud of her performance that evening (not the singing, of course, she'd done that well enough...).
"... Was a real b***h?" She finished the other girl's sentence without entirely meaning to, hand instantly coming up to cover her mouth. "I'm sorry. That was rude... I'm Cordelia. Cordy. I go to Crystal." She held her hand out to the other girl after lowering it, hoping this wouldn't start some sort of instant rivalry. "I'm the one who threw the snowball."

A smile that was hidden behind a slender fingered hand at the mention of the snowball. "I wondered..." She said and let free the laugh. "Who threw that, I do wish it had made it -just- a little further than it did." She laughed again.
"I'm Ume, not Crystal I'm afraid." but there was no malice in her voice at all. "Do you come here often? I'm afraid I'm normally lost in the little things there are to look at!"

"Guilty as charged... And I can honestly say I wish it had made it just a little further too. That girl really had some nerve." She snorted softly as she shook her head, realizing that now was neither the time nor the place to expose her catty side.
"I come in here from time to time, usually when I know they're expecting new jewelry. I tend to get most of mine here... Every now and then I pick up some candles, a little bit of incense..." Mostly when she knew she was going to have the house to herself, without her parents around.

"mmm I -love- their amber incense especially." she agreed with a sort of dreamy expression for a moment. "I love to pick up their little charms too, they make fantastic additions to some of the clothes I'm modifying, and they have the best selection of hair pins." she lifted and fingered a wooden stick fitted at the end with brass wire wrap and tipped with a bit of bone that looked suspiciously like the vertebrae to some small animal.

"I usually go for the sandalwood... Although lately they've been getting in some with a bit of rose that's just mmm." She closed her eyes for a moment, taking a deep breath before releasing it with a smile, eyes opening once more in the end. "They don't usually like it when you bring anything that smokes into the dorms, though... It doesn't tend to settle well with the administration, or the smoke detectors..." Or roommates, she was certain, but she didn't want to test that theory.
"Most of my hair accessories come from the mall, although..." She took a step over to the sticks the other girl was looking at, brushing her fingers lightly over a set tipped with a smokey crystal. "Those ones really are pretty."

"If you've never put your hair up with them, I can show you how, but I'll warn you their -awfully- addictive to wear." She grinned teasingly and waved at her own hair done up with at least 4 of them, none quite matching but at the same time not unpleasing together.
"I'm lucky I suppose, I still stay at home, I only have my sister to contend with." she laughed slightly. "But lately I guess I've been so busy... I haven't seen her much..." she sounded a little sad at that.

"I have, just... Not with ones so natural like these ones. Most of mine are made of plastic." She chuckled softly as she pulled two sets out; one with the smokey crystals and another with a stone that looked like onyx.
"I'm an only child... Mother and Father travel a bit and they didn't think it was fair to leave me all alone all of the time... So Crystal Academy it was." She laughed, trying not to roll her eyes. "It's not all that bad there. I think there's just... A stigma. You have to uphold and follow traditions and blah, blah, blah."

"Adopted..." Ume gave a small shrug. "but people give me odd looks for it..." she laughed... "Odder when they see that most of the family is blond" she grinned and plucked out an ivory stick with an amethyst band and an onyx rose on the end and spun it speculatively. She offered to you with a head tilt "It's a little pricy, but it would look amazing with your eyes." she mused. "Theirs a twin for it too I bet if you prefer pairs?"

"It's not always a bad thing to stand out... Especially not in good ways. I've never been much for blonde hair, myself. I refuse to believe that blondes have more fun..." Unless the fun they had was directly related to their lack of brain cells, which could be said for at least one blonde she knew, even if she was certain that being blonde and male made it worse somehow. "Oooh... That is really pretty. I have a necklace at home that has a rose like that on it, actually." She eyed the hair stick in question as it twirled. "... And I just bought a shirt recently that I bet would go wonderfully with it." Shopping problem? Never.

Ume grinned and handed it over almost playful and searched a dish of them behind the display for an acceptable 'twin' for it. "Ah! Here!..." She pulled it out... "If you only want one pick your favorite of the amethyst." She nodded her approval. "If you like things like chokers, I made one the other day with an um..." she waved a hand at the side of her neck rather than the front. "It's off set, on black lace, the rose on it is white right now but I could easily make one with a purple or black rose if you wanted since the Prom is already being mentioned!"

"... Prom?" She tilted her head to the side, peering at the other girl as the word filtered through her head and she tried to figure out whether or not she'd heard anything about the event before. "I don't... I don't think I've heard anything about it. Is it just a Meadowview thing or are they doing something to try to bridge the gap between the three schools for one grand event?"
