Cordelia Carden, once the social butterfly in search of the newest, classiest things to keep herself at the top of the chain had wandered in to a store she might have avoided year round until Halloween. It wasn't that the clothes within were tasteless or that they weren't cool, they were just things that she had never pondered wearing while living under her parents' roof for fear of being scandalous.

The places that she would be wearing these things in now weren't really places that she'd have to worry about her parents seeing... Or friends of her upperclass family speaking about if they saw her as that would mean admitting that they were there too.

She made sure that her ear buds were secured in her ears before rolling her thumb over the pad of her ipod, flipping through until she found the kind of music she wanted to shop to. They'd given her a forward on her first paycheck with the specific instructions that she was to go out and find new things, not borrowed things, to show up to work in and that was a challenge she was certain she was up for.

Arilee Selvig was out shopping herself. Only in her case, she didn't have to worry about potential parental disapproval as her parents were all very dead. She was still working on working past that fact and her mental imbalance showed in her appearance. Her mohawk was trying to grow out on the sides and her normal array of brilliantly colored clothing had become dull and boring. But the tall blonde was hopeful that getting out and looking for something new and fun might help her mood.

Something revealing, she thought idly. Or just find a shop that sells bondage tape and wrap it around myself like a dress. It didn't matter as long as it was something that showed her figure to full advantage. A night of clubbing, dancing and potential make outs was badly needed. And if it took buying clothes that would horrify and scandalize, then she'd do it, by Chaos!

Her brow lofted as she pulled something faux leather off the rack, eying it as though it had just done some poor, pleather creature a sad disservice in being made out of its synthetic skin. It was so short and she knew well enough from being a senshi that she had a bit too much junk in her trunk to be able to get away with wearing something like that without flashing off her everything.

It certainly wasn't going to do for waiting tables at a swanky place like the Nightingale.

"Blah." She huffed before hanging it back up, turning towards the next rack that looked like it might have a few things that were a bit more promising; long enough to wear a pair of snug shorts under and a bit more revealing up top. She could work with that.

Removing her sunglasses as she entered the shop, Arilee headed for the first rack she saw that seemed to hold a nice variety of corsets. Running her fingers over the mix of leathers, silks and lace, she found herself grinning somewhat wildly. Oh, these were nice. Not that she needed to really work to draw attention to her rack, but hey, where was the fun in being good? Grabbing a few to try on, she turned and nearly ran into a short, dark haired girl also perusing the racks.

Grinning down into a pair of blue-violet eyes, she smiled and shifted her balance slightly.

"Oh wow, hey. Sorry about that. Didn't see you there, Fun-Size. Wasn't trying to run you down there. Oooh, leather lace up shorts!"

Moving a bit more carefully this time, she went around the girl and grabbed the shorts that had caught her eye. Oh yes. Yessssss. She could cause some damage out on the dance floor in these. Holding them up to her waist, she considered a moment before grabbing one of every color in her size to try witht he corsets already in her hands.

Her own crystalline gaze turned to ice as her eyes narrowed into an unmistakeably hostile glare as she tried to figure out whether or not she was the one being addressed. No one else around... No one else in the shop, really, other than the young woman at the counter who seemed far more interested in playing with her phone than who might be walking in or out. That meant...

"Fun-Size?" She twitched as the words came out. If she were a cat she would have been bristled from head to toe. "I..." Whatever smartassed thing was lingering right on the tip of her tongue completely disappeared as the girl reached past her for shorts that she hadn't seen herself yet. The glare faded from her face and was replaced with contemplation and at least a small dose of interest.

"I would hope that an Amazon like yourself knows your leathers well enough, so tell me... Actual leather or that disgusting fake plastic nonsense that's on that rack over there? Or if it's not actual leather, do they at least pass as something you'd spend more than $20 on?"

Looking up from her growing hoard of Neat Clothes, Ari found herself coolly studying the other girl, sunset eyes almost glowing with amusement at the other's bristling.

As for being called an Amazon... Laughter burbled out of her as she shook her head and grinned widely. So, Fun-Size had a sassy streak. Fantastic. Still, the questions weren't meant to be snide, so she didn't mind lending a helping hand.

"Get real leather whenever you can. It might be a b***h to treat and clean, but it lasts a long damn time and feels a lot better against the skin than pleather does. Jesus, if you could have seen the rash I got one summer from wearing pleather. Ugh. Never again. And I've been here before. They do carry real leather, but it's mixed in with the imitation stuff."

Holding her things under one arm, she circled back around to the rack where the other girl stood and began rifling through.

"Ignore the pleather. It's easy to spot since it has that plastic-y sheen to it. Now this one is real," she explained, pulling it from the rack and dropping it into the girl's hands. "And this one," she continued, pulling out yet another article, "isn't. But it looks close enough and won't make your skin crawl if you were it longer than ten minutes. As for the price, be prepared to pay for the real stuff. The imitation stuff, I would say it depends. Judge it the way you would any decently made item. If it looks like it won't last or like a demented howler monkey made it, don't pay for it. Simple."

Personally, Ari didn't care about real or fake as long as pleather was avoided. One rash in her lifetime had been enough.

"I was questioning more whether or not those shorts were real or fake, but I appreciate the tips." She nodded, turning her head briefly back to the rack. Money wasn't normally an issue, but she'd cut up the credit cards her parents had given her right before moving out, save for one that had always been for emergencies only.

"Work sent me out on a mission to find something more suitable for waiting tables in than what I've already got. I have to find something that will show off my 'assets'." She rolled her eyes at that, finally popping her ear buds out of her ears so that she could pay a bit more attention to the conversation at hand.

"Would I be safe to assume you wear stuff like that all the time?"
PostPosted: Thu May 09, 2013 4:27 pm

"Like I said, they're a mix."

Though still grinning, there was an unmistakable tone of challenge to it now as Arilee smoothed out the clothing draped over her arm. Something to show off assets, huh? Well, she certainly had those in abundance even if she seemed a little too tightly wound.

"Not all the time. They'd be rather impractical in the wintertime. But when the weather's nice enough, hell yes. Why shouldn't I? I look damn good in them."

Jutting her chin out aggressively, Arilee continued to grin easily.

Twilight Jaws

Her eyes drifted over the other young woman once more for a moment longer before she finally shifted the things she was holding so that she could extend a hand. "I'm Cordelia." Normally she'd throw in a last name, but this time she simply left it at that. "And, honestly, I could use all of the tips that you're willing to share.. If you're willing to share them, that is."
PostPosted: Sun Dec 08, 2013 3:46 pm

Shifting her own little collection, Arilee reached out and took the offered hand.

"Arilee. Or Ari if you prefer. I'm not picky."

Then, releasing Cordelia's hand, she grinned and tipped her head to one side, studying the other girl carefully.

"Sure, I can share tips, but I think you might want to explain what exactly you're looking for since showing off assets is a little ambiguous. Where'd you work?"

Arilee very much doubted that Cordelia was a Lady of the Night, but you never knew. And while she had no problems helping anyone find cute clothes, she didn't think she could be much help for a hooker. She'd be too busy trying to talk one into going back to school or finding a nice Starbucks job or something.

"There's a night club that opened up in the cultural district... Well, the tail end of the cultural district, which I guess isn't really a part of the cultural district anymore, but..." Rambling off topic wasn't going to get her much of anywhere.

"I wait tables at a place that gives a little bit of a nod towards the roaring 20's. They do shows on stage." That was where the culture came in, she was certain. "I'm not one of the dancers. Or the singers. I don't know if I could do what they do in heels." Fighting evil is bad enough.

"The tips are good, though. Boss says they'd be better if I could find a little... Va va voom, I think, were the specific words used at the time."

Va va voom? People still talked like that? Chuckling softly, Arilee listened and nodded as it seemed appropriate. At least they were getting somewhere.Still. 'Va va voom' was not exactly helpful.

"Okay, Fun-size. What do the other girls wear who won't dance or sing? Do they try to dress all 20s-ish or like Hooters girls?"

Ari had a feeling that she was going to have to track this place down and visit some night when she wasn't working.

"Cordelia." She corrected the other girl after being called 'Fun-size', almost like an immediate reaction, much in the same way she had once auto-corrected a friend every time he addressed her by her childhood nickname.

"They wear things a lot nicer than cheap tanks with logos and short shorts, if that's what you're getting at. Not quite bunnies in leotards, though, if that makes any sense? I've been wearing a little black dress, but I get the feeling that's not going to hold me over for much longer so I was thinking..." She gestured to what was in front of her. "I mean the guy behind the bar doesn't even wear a shirt under his vest, so I don't know."

Blinking slowly, Arilee decided right then that if there was a shirtless guy working bar, she simply had to visit this place at least once. But lusting after a dude she hadn't yet seen wasn't going to help her find clothes for Cordelia. Gnawing on her lower lip, she turned to rifle through the racks closest and wondered what would work.

"Okay, first things first," she started, "Realize that I am not going to be suggesting things to slut you up. But you do have nice tits and an amazing a** from what I can see. I will be finding things to show those off."

Grabbing a pair of the short shorts from nearby, she grinned and held them up, trying to decide on a color that wasn't bleh. After a moment's thought, she found a pair that was a deep burgundy. Perfect.

"These are perfect. And don't worry about wedgie city, I know this brand and they are fantastic. You hold 'em, i have a corset to find."

Grinning, she went back to the corset rack and rifled through until she found a burgundy and old gold colored number. Tossing it over her shoulder at Cordelia, she winked and grinned.

"Let's try these and see how they look."

It was clear she would not be giving her new friend a choice.

Cordelia eyed the things that the other young woman was holding out to her, taking them as she glanced up and instantly paused. Her lips were parted slightly and there was a look on her face that said for a moment she was somewhere else entirely and about to respond to someone she'd known for ages.

"I... I'm sorry." She shook her head, instantly drawing back into herself as she turned towards the fitting room. "For a moment you reminded me of someone. It's been a while since I've gone shopping with anyone, not that we're out together, but..." Her hand came up and she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear; obviously a nervous habit.
