It was several days before Christmas and she had finished her Christmas shopping. She had even finished her Christmas wrapping and baking was next on the list, provided she could track down the ever elusive Demetri Wright in order to make him come over for their yearly tradition. What she hadn't done, though, was make sure that everyone she'd meant to invite over on Christmas was actually coming.
With that in mind, Cordelia Carden decided to take some initiative. She picked up her phone, eyed it for a good long moment before flipping it open to place a call to Erik Corlione, crossing her fingers in hopes that he wouldn't be completely tied up with family affairs... Or that if he was he'd be able to spare a moment or two for her.

The phone rattled off it's hook, the background instantly full of voices, giggling, Christmas carols, and several more voices arguing who the phone was actually FOR.
Unfortunately for Cordelia... one of the voices clamoring for the phone and trying to explain who the Carden's were... was Erik.
....snuffle...........sigh............................. rattle........ The person on the other end of the phone was exactly being helpful either, then with another rattle, a warm female voice pointed out.
"Elsie honey, you're supposed to introduce yourself...." Then more clearly. "Hello, you've reached the Corlione residence, Mrs. Corlione speaking."

She worried her lower lip for a moment as she listened to the sounds on the phone that weren't the voice she was waiting to her, rather glad that the phone she was holding on to didn't have a cord if only for the knowledge that it would be wrapped tightly around her finger if so. Her face heated the moment Erik's mother answered and introduced herself and, sadly, it took her a moment to keep her from stammering.
"H-happy holidays, Mrs. Corlione... This is Cordelia. Is... Is Erik there, by any chance?"

"Oh!" Mrs. Corlione's voice brightened enough that she could have grown flowers with it. "You're that Cordelia girl. How nice! Yes he's right here." The phone became slightly muffled as a hand went over it, only partially muffling the sound.
"Erik? ERIK! It's Cordelia!"
More words were exchanged in the background, and there was a flury of hysterical giggling which sounded like it was coming from at least one, probably at least two, younger girls, followed by the familiar refrain of the rhyme against cooties... an "Ow!" and thundering feet before the phone changed hands again.
"Hey! Cordy!" He refrained from calling her "Bats" over the phone, though with the hysterical giggles occasionally cropping up in the background ((And some more rhymes. The words "Marriage" and "Baby Carriage" could be faintly made out.)) Maybe it was no wonder that he was refraining from using any nicknames that could be construed in... interesting lights. "Sorry! Olympic track jumpers couldn't have made it to the phone on time." He apologized, cheerfully.
This had been previously demonstrated, and Oddy had once equally cheerfully demonstrated the bruise from trying to jump the coffee table, and being tripped by co-conspiring siblings.
"Happy Holidays!"

"I..." Cordelia, having been an only child her entire life save for the brief times when Demetri had stayed for a weekend, was simply stunned and rather speechless. She swallowed once, attempting to pull herself back together before finally finding her words. "No, it's okay! I was just... I mean... Let me start over."
The furrow in her brow could clearly be heard in her voice, more frustration at herself for being thrown off-stride than in him and the situation.
"Do you want to go out? With me... I mean, more in general, really. Get out of the house for a bit? So we can talk without background noise? They're doing this whole... Ice skating thing down at the park, and..."

"Sure, that sounds good!" At this point, even Oddy was willing to jump through a window if it meant briefly escaping yet another round of watching Christmas specials on tv, or listening to Frosty the Snowman being sung one more time.
The fact that even he was sick of it was a pretty good testament to exactly how many times it had been played by the youngest members of the visiting family members. It, and it's cousin the equally overplayed Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer were, at this point, pretty much inescapable, and the older kids were forbidden from playing anything 'too heavy' for younger sensibilities.
Skating actually sounded pretty refreshing, and like a good workout. Good workouts were relaxing.
"Where would you like to meet?"
((In the background, at least two voices went oooooOOOOOooooooh In teasing chorus.))

At that moment Cordelia thanked whatever higher power there might have been that her face, now crimson, could not be seen through the phone. She likely would have died had she been there amongst all of them... Just died.
"How about the skating rink? Near the rental booth if you don't have your own skates... Or by the entrance to the park? Unless you wanted me to drop by your house first, but..." The slight shift in her voice said she wasn't certain the latter was all that great of an idea. At all. Not that she didn't like his family (those of them she had met before, at least), but that many of them after a phone call that they were already picking at for torment fodder....

"Yeah I'll have to rent a pair." There were just too many kids in the household, and space was at a premium, let alone extra cash, and skates were pretty expensive for something with limited use. Especially since Skating fell far less under Oddy's normal interest than running, and he could walk around in running shoes, but not in skates.
Oddy seemed perfectly unphased by the tormenting tunes in the background, but then again, he -lived- with a large number of the giggling miscreants, so he'd developed a thicker skin when it came to their behavior. It had served him well.

"I'll meet you there, then... In about an hour-ish?" Her brow lofted slightly. That would give her a bit of time to get herself together, between clothes and outerwear along with packing a tiny purse together with important things (wallet, senshi!phone and henshin pen included)... "Is that enough time? Or too much time?"

"OK! I can be there then!" He promised, and then a slightly muffled. "No mom, it's the skating rink. They want you to buy stuff at the concession stand." A pause followed by. "Yeah mom I'll tell her." and then into the phone. "I'm supposed to make sure you know you can have all the cookies you want." he chuckled. "She thinks I'm running you ragged."
The latest excuse for trying to put some 'meat' on the bones of Cordelia Carden from Mrs Corlione, and probably not the last either, although Oddy was pretty sure that the only one running Cordy ragged was Cordy. Sure however that her son was dragging the 'pretty young thing' through all manner of wooded trails on their 'marathon training', Mrs. Corlione was hard to convince otherwise.

"Here I thought you were the one making sure I didn't run myself ragged." She muttered lightly, brow furrowing as she twirled a strand of hair around her finger, shuffling her feet against her bedroom carpet. "Let your mother know that today is totally all about relaxation and having fun... And we'll make sure to stop for cocoa and if she really insists you can bring a baggie of cookies along with you and I'll nibble on one just so you can tell her I thought they were wonderful."
Cordelia took a deep breath after all of that, releasing it slowly with a little puff. "I am going to sneak off of the phone now, though, because if I don't I'm never going to be ready in an hour." She laughed, although there was a good chance she probably meant it in all seriousness.

Oddy laughed. "She'll be glad to hear it." He told her. "I'll see you in an hour, and I promise not to wear anything TOO loud." He added, teasingly. Of course he was already planning what to wear himself, though his criteria was always a bit different than hers.

Most of her clothing choices had been a bit more on the somber side of things lately, likely due to the cold and her overall lack of desire to wear anything not comfortable after all of the nights she spent roaming Destiny City in a short skirt and heels. Today, though, she had decided to go for a little bit more style; wanting to have fun on her own and maybe, at least partially, catch some attention as a girl and not just a senshi. Upon hanging up the phone Cordelia began the process of getting dressed, starting with a pair of leggings that would hopefully help to keep her warm beneath the little ice skating dress that her mother had picked out for her on one of their shopping trips. She threw a sweater on over it before flopping down on the edge of her bed to fuss with socks and a pair of boots that would be easy enough to switch over to her skates once Oddy had claimed his at the rental place. She made quick work of pulling her hair back, taking a moment to brush a bit of lip gloss over her lips before gathering the rest of her 'outdoor wear' (gloves, scarf and matching hat) and her purse, snagging her skates and coat on the way out the door.

Oddy's fashion sense, as usual, tended to announce itself before he did, and his bulky, cozy looking sweater was hard to miss, though compared to some of the things he normally wore, the blue sweater, with it's changing shades and flecks of white, was actually fairly subtle, though the enormous scarf he was wearing, wrapped multiple times around and still trailing to surprising lengths. ((It looked like someone had knitted some kind of Christmas message into it, white on heathered navy blue, but it was impossible to read with so much of it twisted up.))
He grinned as he finally saw her, lifting a hand in a wave. Even his fingerless gloves looked like they'd been made by someone, with interesting cables and details down the back. Apparently it had been a good Christmas so far for knitted goods.
Actually, come to think of it, the only really ridiculous thing he was wearing... was the Santa hat. He pulled it on as he stood up from where he was sitting, hefting his rented skates in demonstration that he was at least halfway ready.
"Hey! I got skates!" He informed her cheerfully.

"Great!" Cordelia smiled brightly as she trotted up to him, holding up her own skates to show that she too was prepared for whatever skating adventure their afternoon might entail.
"Nice hat." She chuckled as she reached up with her free hand to bat lightly at the white pom at the end while taking a moment to glance at the rest of his attire. The teen was beginning to appreciate Oddy's unique fashion sense, more through realizing that it was just him. Nothing seemed to phase him or make him want to change and that was one of the things that she had come to admire about him.
"I like your sweater too... It's a nice shade of blue." She nodded after her compliments as though that would somehow confirm them, turning to find a bench to plop down on so that she could put on her skates. "It's been a while since the last time I've skated." She laughed.
