The raven haired woman paused on the front step, gathering her thoughts while attempting to ground herself. She had promised Angus that she would check in on Bindhi. She had also promised that she wouldn't call their friend stupid and that she would try to keep her emotions in check. Unfortunately, as she was discovering while paused there, that last part might have been the hardest of everything to agree to. Cordelia took a deep breath, clenching her fingers and then shaking them out before finally reaching to press the door buzzer.

Bindhi had vacillated between extreme restlessness and extreme Nope-Not-Leaving-This-Bed since she'd been allowed to go home. Her dog seemed more than happy to go along with either mood, staying close by and cuddling up against her whenever he got the chance.
Today was one of the restless days. She'd cleaned the house up and forced herself to toss out random keepsakes that had become less bittersweet memories and more fiery glass stabbing into her heart. It had left her exhausted physically and emotionally and she was considering taking a nap when the doorbell rang.
Sanskrit was bouncing around and barking hopefully. And given that every visitor she'd had since her discharge had made sure to bring a treat for the dog too, no wonder he bounced around joyfully. She wasn't in the mood for company, but also knew that right now, it was something she had to expect. No one was going to let her be alone for very long.
Sighing, she pulled her fingers through disheveled hair and made sure that her forearm was bandaged and as not-creepy as possible. She couldn't do anything about her pallor or the dark, bruise-like circles under her eyes, but whoever-it-was would just have to deal.
"Okay, pupper," she muttered as she opened the door. "We can do this."
Only to have her calm facade crack as she saw the tiny figure standing on her porch. "H-hi Cordelia..."

Her own gaze had been stormy up until the door opened and she caught sight of Bindhi at which point her expression instantly softened. Various words fought for a place on her tongue ranging from commentary on how terrible her friend looked to wondering aloud if the other young woman was going to open the door enough to let her in. In the end she settled on a smile, holding up a reusable grocery bag. "I brought food. Cheesecake too." That was a normal enough way to start, right? She gave herself credit that she didn't look to the bandage on her friend's arm, knowing that wouldn't have helped her keep anything in check.

For a moment, Bindhi stood there stupidly, staring at her friend and wondering what on earth she was doing there. And she was sure that had her stomach and her dog not decided the matter for her, she''d have probably stood there until Doomsday. But when Cordelia mentioned food, Bindhi's stomach chose that moment to growl. Loudly.
Sanskrit chose that moment to eel past Bindhi's legs and bounce happily around Cordelia's feet before streaking back inside, yipping gleefully.
"Um. Right. Yes," she said a little faintly as she shook off her stupor. "Come on in. I've been cleaning," she added a little lamely. "Umm... is the cheesecake from the Club? Because I have been craving that like no one's business the last couple days."
She opened the door wider and moved off to the side, giving her friend plenty of room to get inside.

"Don't worry about your place, Bindhi. You've seen my apartment before I've gotten a chance to straighten much." She flashed her friend another light smile. "The cheesecake isn't from the Paw, but I wouldn't have brought it if it wasn't just as good. I can pick up a slice the next time I work though and bring it over for you?" Cordelia paused only briefly before stepping inside, lightly looping her arm gently through Bindhi's. "Lead me to the kitchen and I'll get some food started? I didn't have much for breakfast this morning so I came hungry." Maybe if she drew a bit of attention to herself on the food front Bindhi wouldn't feel so awkward about her own stomach growling. "I might have brought something for Sanskrit too."

Part of her wanted to pull away violently from the arm looped through her own. But she knew that would be exactly the wrong thing to do. She'd gotten enough lectures in the hospital about how her instincts to pull away had contributed to her alcoholism and... other things. So instead, she throttled the urge down and did as she was asked.
"Kitchen's right this way, ma'am," she answered with just a hint of sass. "And you you brought the pup a treat, he will love you forever. Though I think he already does."
Laughing a little, she inclined her head to where Sanskrit was doing happy, wriggle dances around Cordelia's feet. Somehow, seeing her dog so happy helped to raise her own spirits. And having a friend around helped even more. Even when she was sure that a lecture would be coming her way at some point.
"I can help cook," she added as she flipped on the kitchen lights. "I love to cook, actually. Just tell me what to do and what you need from the shelves."

"If you don't have a rice cooker, I'll need a pot to start some white rice in. You can pick whether or not I turn the chicken I've got into fried rice or stir fry." She released Bindhi's arm once they were in the kitchen, giving her friend a gentle nudge before she set the bag down so that she could start unpacking it. The sweet shop that she had gotten the cheesecake from carried a small selection of gourmet dog biscuits as well. When she found the one that she'd picked out she unwrapped it, holding it out to Sanskrit for inspection. "This is for you, but you have to promise to take it somewhere that's not under our feet in the kitchen, alright?"

"Jesus ********," Bindhi muttered as she glanced over at what Cordelia was giving to the dog before returning to her hunt for a rice cooker, "that thing is bigger than his head. Take it to your bed, pup."
She heard a muffled bark and watched with amusement as Sanskrit seized the cookie and bolted as best he could manage for his own little corner of the house.
She'd accepted the nudge gracefully and was rooting through her cupboards. She knew she'd had a rice cooker at one point. After another moment's searching, she gave up and fetched out a pot.
"Here you go. How much water you want in it? Or do you? And honestly, if you're the one cooking the bulk of this, you get to pick what you make. My appetite's kind of been terrible lately, to be honest."

"Stir fry it is, then. And two cups of water. We'll throw one cup of rice into it and that should be enough for the two of us plus some leftovers. I don't eat an awful lot of it, but it keeps well and is easy enough to reheat." It wasn't long before she had everything unpacked and once Bindhi had the water started for boiling she recruited the young woman for helping her find a pan large enough to toss everything together in. She had prepped the vegetables (broccoli, thinly sliced carrots and zucchini) at home while marinading the chicken so that everything would be easier to toss together. "I did bring a few other things too if you want to put them in the fridge; some other meat for later and some shrimp that you can either eat cold or reheat. Angus said you're not a big fan of red meat..."
