Destiny City was in for a cold night, flurries of snow filling the sky and coating the streets with a blanket of white. The cold kept many indoors, but did little to deter one Fiona Watson. The frostiness of the air helped to clear her mind-- which really, was awfully muddled --so she took most opportunities to embrace it even if it meant going home chilled to the bone.

Onlookers probably thought the ginger was crazy, with just a peacoat, scarf and thick knee-high wool socks to keep her warm, but sane was not a word she associated with herself lately.

Her long legs carried her through the streets and into a coffee shop where she promptly purchase not one, but two, hot chocolates. She left as quickly as she entered and found herself a nice empty alley in which she set her drinks on the ground, fished a pen from a pocket inside her coat and powered up. Fiona--now masked as Denebola, senshi of dragonflies--picked up her two cups and returned to walking the streets, arguably more under dressed than before.

Still, it didn't keep her from finding a bench and sitting down upon it, placing one of the cups beside her like she was waiting for someone. She wasn't, but she kinda was.

Like she had been countless other nights, the ginger was throwing sensibility out the door.

What had started out as a jog through the park in earmuffs and sweats had turned into something more in an attempt to blow off some extra steam. She could push herself just a little bit harder once powered up and run just a little bit faster.... She could also let her feet take her places where she might not have gone on her own.

They had lead her through the path in the cemetery to pay a visit to old friends, sobering the situation slightly although doing nothing to ease the thoughts running through her own mind. If anything, it only served to bring things together, make them more clear.

With a deep breath she made her way back to the park where a prickle of something familiar tickled the edges of her senses. Corvus withdrew her phone from where she kept it neatly tucked, flicking on the tracking feature to see if the presence nearby was one that she had scanned before.

It wasn't, but as it didn't feel dark or foreboding she made her way towards it.

Denebola had been staring at the lid of her hot chocolate very intently, swallowed by all the thoughts she didn't want to think about, when she felt that p***k in the back of her mind that alerted her to a powered presence. Her head snapped up, heterochromatic eyes blinking slowly at the darkly dressed figure approaching her. Though her heart began beating harshly against her ribcage and panic ran through her from her toes to the tips of her fingers tightly wrapped around her cup she remained sitting and her face stayed blank.

If anything she sat up a little straighter, scooting to the edge of the bench and resting the bottom of the cup on her knees.

She kept her eyes on the approaching person and let a smile paint itself on her lips. Denebola had made it appear as though she was patiently waiting for said person to meet her.

"I was worried no one would come," she voiced, her smile now pressed thin as she forced herself to laugh. "Hot chocolate?" She offered.

Corvus could sense the tension in the other young woman as she straightened up, trying not to let the action of alert formality set her back on edge. Instead she put a smile on her face as she stepped out of the shadows, hoping that the bit of white fabric peeking up from beneath her bodice along with the pristine white wing bows attached to her backside would service as a sign that she was safe enough despite the darkness.

"At ease, soldier." Her voice was soft, carrying the sound of her smile along with it as she took another step towards the bench and the hot chocolate that was being offered, making sure to give the other senshi ample space in the event she was still concerned. "That's very kind of you."

Her two-toned eyes glided across the senshi's fuku and rested on the decorative wings that signified an eternal. The inner panic that had arisen softened as did her smile and the tension in her shoulders relaxed. She turned her head slightly towards the other cup, picked it up and offered it to Corvus.

"I figured with how cold it was, it wouldn't be fair if I had a warm beverage and didn't get a second one for someone else." Really, it was just an excuse to open up the door to conversation. She had hoped that whomever found her would be more inclined to talk rather than fight.

She was immensely relieved that a fellow senshi had happened upon her.

"I probably seem a bit daft, hanging out like this but," she said, shaking her head at herself, "but I was hoping to talk to someone. Not about anything in particular really. Just talk."

"Sometimes it's nice to just talk." She nodded, a soft smile lingering on her lips as she took the cup from the other young woman before stepping up to perch on the back of the bench rather than take a seat directly on it. She had a slightly better view of the park from that point and it would be easier to spring up from there if she had to at a moment's notice.

"I've been doing a good bit of talking lately; not as much fighting. Some would probably say that it's made me soft... But I'd like to think that I've just gotten a little bit better at picking my fights than I was when I was still green." She tilted the cup slightly towards the other senshi as if making a small toast before bringing it up to her lips to take a slow sip. "Mm... Thank you."

"I don't think we do it enough," the ginger stated, staring down at the lid of her cup for a moment in thought. It was clear that she meant we as in the order faction as a whole. Order verses Chaos. "We're all too quick to engage in a fight, we react without thinking." Sometimes she wondered if they had all lost sight of what they were fighting for.

There were too many internal squabbles within the Order.

No wonder they hadn't been able to fight off the Negaverse. Or the Dark Mirror Court. The had numbers, but no organization and that hadn't changed in the three and a half years she'd been a player. More often than not, Denebola wondered if it would ever change.

She laughed as Corvus talked, seeming to brighten at her words. "I should do that more I think. Though sometimes it leaves me more confused than before." Like when she talked to Remarque. Or Vespa.

"I'm Sailor Denebola," she introduced, gesturing to the bench beside her. "Please sit."

"Denebola? You're Denebola?" Dark brows lofted as her gaze turned towards the other young woman, giving her a quick look over before flashing her a warm smile as though they were old friends. The smile seemed to change everything about her, chasing away just a bit of the cold from her features.

"We have someone in common, you and I... And I apologize that I haven't sought you out sooner. I am Corvus, Eternal Senshi of Vengeance." She hoped that making mention of the knowledge she had of the other senshi didn't startle her and hoped to ease some of it by sliding down from her perch on the back of the bench into a seat on it next to the other young woman instead. "It's a pleasure to finally meet you."

If Denebola thought about it long enough, she would realize that she hadn't interacted with anyone from her own side in an exceptionally long period of time. Lately her entanglements while powered had been with Chaos's senshis. Remarque, Vespa, Chariklo.

No wonder her moral compass had become tarnished with gray.

Her mismatched eyes blinked in surprise at Corvus's excitement upon learning her name. She returned the smile with a quizzical look because even as she searched her brain she didn't really recognize the eternal's name.

"We do?" She tilted her head and blinked again trying to think of the person they might share. "I'm sorry, I don't recognize you and I'm not sure who would be talking about me?" She didn't really have many friends any more.

"It was longer ago than I care to admit, but Sailor Arsinoe mentioned your name. It was during one of the larger battles between Good and Evil." She rolled her eyes at that, trying not to think of how much the lines had been blurred; how one couldn't be considered Good without also being associated with Bad.

"He's... Family. I was a bit overprotective of him because he was new, but he mentioned that he had met you. I'm sorry, I must sound crazy with all of thus sudden excitement." She waved a gloved hand through the air. "I don't meet many familiar names or faces that aren't associated with the Negaverse anymore."

Arsinoe.

She hadn't heard that name in a long time and a wave of sadness overcame her. Her shoulders sagged and her hands settled into her lap, clutching her cup so tightly that the paper indented. It wasn't long after Elysion that their communication had become sparse, non existent.

"Have you heard from him recently?" She asked, quietly. She thought about him a lot, because he was the only person who she trusted with both her identities. "I mean," she tried again, clearing her throat and speaking just a little louder. "Is he doing well?" She shook her head and tried to wave away Corvus's apology. She even attempted a half-hearted smile. "No, no. It's okay. I was just surprised. It's nice."

And she meant it, even if she looked world-weary.

"I could say the same thing myself," she replied, forcing a laugh.

"Not recently." She shook her head slowly, glancing down to the cup of hot cocoa now warming her hands, the smile fading from her lips as a somewhat stern look replaced it. "Not in several months, actually. Lu-- Arsinoe didn't exactly agree with my decision to return to Destiny City after my last visit with him. He had a few strong opinions on the matter and... We disagreed, to say the least."

The slightest trace of a smirk tugged at the corner of her mouth, a bit of fondness seeping into the tone of her voice. "Knowing him, he's doing just fine, though. I don't think he meant to leave town without saying 'good-bye', but sometimes it's easier that way. You don't have to worry that someone will try and talk you out of your decision. I didn't say farewell to what was left of my team either, to be honest."

"Oh," she mumbled, sounding as disappointed as she felt. She should have known that he left town, Destiny City big but not that big, but it still sat uncomfortably to know that he left without saying anything. At least he wasn't dead, that was the fear that plagued her when they first lost contact.

She had almost died so many times, imagining one of her friends and allies dead had kept her up in the late hours of the night and she was relieved to find that Lucien hadn't become a victim.

"Well," she had to pause, seeming to have a difficulty forcing the words out. "I'm just glad he's alive and doing what's best for him. That's most important." There were too many nights where she wished she could just give up being Sailor Denebola, but she'd tried that once and the onslaught of depression had been unbearable.

"What's it like?" She asked, finally turning her head back to Corvus. "Being able to kinda have a clean slate, fresh start?"

"Honestly?" She tilted her head towards the other senshi for a moment before letting her gaze drift out over the park as she lifted the cup to her lips, letting the warmth of the cocoa fill her for a moment as she took a sip. "It's nice. There's this weight that lifts up off of your chest and, if you're like me, it's a weight you didn't know you were carrying until you let it go. You have time to be yourself again, to stop worrying about everyone else... And then it catches up to you."

She paused for a moment, gathering her thoughts before continuing on. "You find your henshin pen buried in the bottom of a drawer and you wonder what it would be like to power up again... And then you do. You race through town and you try to figure out what's been happening since you took off your mask to spend time as yourself and you realize that just because time as a scout stopped for you it didn't stop for others. The war has continued, and after spending time talking to both sides you realize that something just isn't right.... That's when you start to wonder if maybe you shouldn't have left. If you should've kept fighting. You start to think about what you can do to take back what's yours and, in the end, you wish you weren't starting over from scratch again because it would be one hell of a lot easier to do with friends."

With that mouthful out she took another sip of the cocoa before lowering the cup to her lap once more. "Enough lives have been lost on both sides that I can't blame anyone for wanting to walk away."

The ginger listened intently, taking in all that Corvus had to say. At first, she envied the eternal's ability to leave town and start over then, as the dark haired girl continued, she realized how quickly the weight of her responsibilities would crush her. Denebola was no coward, but she knew when a fight was lost and when to leave. (Even if she didn't comply.)

"I think about running away all the time," she admitted, heaving a heavy sigh. "Obviously I don't, but I think about it. Does that make me weak?" She never thought of herself as weak before. "Lately, I don't want to fight for good and justice. I'm tired, weary, and sick of those stupid negas shoving their hands in my chest." She got quieter as she spoke. "I want so desperately to make a difference but I don't know how to any more. I feel like every little victory is lost because it's so miniscule."

She'd taken to staring at the white lid of her cup for the majority of her little rant, but now her head was titled back and looking at the expanse of the sky above him. "I wonder, a lot, about what happened. What made us lose our homes in the stars and left us to be reborn here." Another sigh. "Sometimes I worry that we're fighting a war from the past without any of the information as to why it happened, or why we're fighting."
