From the moment Fayalite's boot had come in contact with her head Sailor Corvus had been unconscious. The abrupt end of the battle had found her back on the cold, concrete floor of the warehouse amongst many who were trying to find their own; needing to know that those they knew were safe and if they weren't that their wounds were being tended to. It was the same thing that she would have been doing had she been in the condition to do so...

In this case, though, as she wasn't in any condition to do the searching, it was the members of her team who found her first. Sailor Eridanus, who had been engaged in the same fight she had been, was at her side first, kneeling on the floor beside her while wondering hesitantly if he should move her, knowing that he, or someone else would have to either way.

The question of who wasn't left entirely to him, though. For all that Eridanus was Corvus's partner (in crime and defense), she had always considered Saiph her second in command during the heat of the moment; the one that she expected to take over looking after the boys should anything happen to her... Luckily enough for Super Sailor Corvus, Saiph had also taken it upon herself to look out for her friend. She instructed Alshain to lift their fallen friend, gently, gently...

Saiph and Eridanus flanked Alshain from the front, keeping the unconscious form of their de-henshined friend shielded as they left the warehouse, taking her to the safest place that Saiph could think of for the moment; not to the hospital, or back to the Carden mansion... But to her own home where, if she was lucky, her aunt would still be out.

...

Cordelia wasn't entirely certain how long she had been 'out' when she woke up, or even where she was. Her head felt heavy, fuzzy, like it would just fall right off if she tried to move. A soft groan parted her lips as she shifted, hand running slowly over... Soft sheets. Soft sheets?

One eye opened and she instantly regretted it, stabbing pain shooting through her head at the little bit of light that touched her eyes. She closed them quickly enough, hand coming up to cover her face before her fingers brushed against the bandage above her eyebrow. Someone had taken care of her, at least... And soft sheets meant she wasn't in the hospital... But where, then, was she?

"Yeah, you might want to keep your eyes closed a while longer," a dry voice came from overhead as a warm and slightly damp cloth was gently laid over Cordy's eyes. "It figures that you'd wake up when I was changing the cloth. Don't move either. You got a nasty knock to the skull."

Gabbie carefully stroked some of Cordy's dark hair away from her forehead while she fussed with cloth. She was managing to keep her voice normal only through sheer force of will. Even thinking about what had happened, what COULD have happened was twisting her gut into one big knot. She still wasn't sure exactly what had happened. What she was sure about was that Hammie had seen Cordy following her and had decided to follow suit.

Shivering at the thought of almost losing another friend, Gabbie decided to do something useful. Rising from the chair she'd been occupying, she turned off the lamp and switched over to a simple nightlight. Only once she was sure that the light was sufficiently dim did she go back to Cordy's side and sit again.

"Okay, the light shouldn't be so bad now. I've got the curtains pulled and a couple of blankets tossed over the curtains just is case. Let me get that rag off of your eyes. And before you ask, we're at my place. I sort of took over my aunt's room for you and the boys are crashed out in my room."

Watching anxiously, Gabbie found herself hoping that no one else had seen who exactly it was that she'd gone after. Granted, Hammie knew. But Hammie hadn't ever met Alkaid before her corruption or really known just how close a friend she'd been. Cordy and Oddy knew. And she dreaded their questions.

The sound of Gabbie's voice was nearly enough to bring the sting of tears to her eyes; the wave of sheer relief in knowing that she was safe, that the boys were safe. They had all made it out of what had easily dissolved into hell in paradise.

"Gabbie, I..." Her brow furrowed and a stinging pain quickly followed after that movement. "Fayalite." Cordelia hissed softly as she shifted just a bit, tilting her head back into what seemed like the most comfortable position as she opened her eyes, slowly this time, waiting for them to adjust. "It was Fayalite who did this. MuCephi was, she..."

Everything was so scrambled; so frustrating. Bits and pieces of the events that had taken place were filtering in and out of her head, attempting to find their place amongst the haze of fact or fiction. The warehouse, space, the first glimpse of the Elysion fields. Following... She had been following someone.

"Luc, oh god, Gabbie... My cousin. Did anyone see what happened to him? Sailor Arsinoe? Does anyone know what happened to Sailor Arsinoe?" Half of her words didn't come out as 'right' as she wanted them to, but she didn't seem to be paying that much mind, another wave of pain shooting through her head as she tried to sit up despite Gabbie's insistence that she not move... Never mind that Lucien would likely kill her if he knew what she had disclosed. She trusted Gabbie.

"I lost him when I found Oddy, I..." She sniffed, lower lip trembling as she tried to hold back tears. "Oh, god..."

Gently, but firmly, Gabbie pushed Cordy's shoulders back into the bed and held her there a moment.

"First off, you have a text from an Arsinoe that came through not long after we got you here. So calm down before you make whatever that Fayalite b***h did to you worse. Now," she continued in a ruthless voice, "since none of us are doctors, we had to guess at how bad the damage to you was. So. You are going to answer some questions, maybe eat or drink something, and then I will hand your phone over to you."

Once she was reasonably certain that Cordy wouldn't attempt to leap out of the bed again, she settled back into her chair and propped her feet up on the edge of the bed, watching her friend all the while.

"Do you feel nauseous, dizzy? I think you might have a concussion, and if that's the case, we may have to take you to a doctor. And you are damn lucky that she didn't kick you in the temple or you'd have never woken up."

That thought was enough to make all the stress and worry show itself in her cracking voice.

"Gabbie..." Cordelia murmured softly once she had regained a bit of control over herself, the tones in the other girl's voice doing wonders in making her realize that she wasn't the only one hurting; that Gabbie had been taking care of her... And likely the boys as well, depending on what might have happened to either of them, if anything.

"My stomach is a little off, but..." She swallowed, knowing that whatever sickness she felt was likely from the slam of memory after memory trying to find their place in her head along with the stress of worry over the things she hadn't had any control over once she'd fallen unconscious.

"Gabbie, what about you?" Her eyes opened again as she tilted her head to glance over at her friend, gaze lingering a bit longer this time before her lids slid closed once more. "You're going to get upset with me if I try to get up again... But if you stay over there, I'm going to try if only so I can take your hand and squeeze it. You..." She paused for a moment, gathering her thoughts back together as they tried to scatter. "... You should just come over here and lay down with me."

"Don't worry about me," the dry, almost amused tone was back as Gabbie got up and carefully edged herself onto the bed so that she could put an arm around Cordy. "And you're damn lucky my aunt likes big beds. Most of my bruises are from ahh.... other activities. So don't worry about me. I'm a tough girl."

Only she wasn't. If seeing Alkaid and Tanzanite could reduce her to the almost mindless need to attack and wound, then she was very clearly not all right. But Cordy didn't need to know that. Not yet, anyway. Instead, she forced her mind ot more immediate matters.

"Think you could manage some soup or something? Or do you want to go to the doctor?"

"I'm going to worry about you, Gabbie." How easily she resorted to sulking was likely due to the injuries that she had taken, although if she could actually hear herself she would likely curse over how much she sounded like Demy when he was whining.

"You're my best friend, you know." She murmured, shifting ever so slightly so that she could rest her head against Gabbie's shoulder, eyes remaining closed. "Boys don't count for best friends, do they? Best friends, best girl friends... I don't want to go to the doctor." A rather random interjection in the middle of her silly rambling.

"Every time I go to the doctor they tell my parents and...." Cordelia managed a rather dramatic huff somehow, lower lip sticking out in a little pout. "... Soup sounds good."

"And I am going to worry about you, so we're even," Gabbie said with a small laugh. "I think boys can be best friends sometimes. Pretty sure there's a mandate out there requiring so many hours of carrying shopping bags around before it can happen though."

Moving the arm under Cordy slightly so she could stroke the other girl's hair, Gabbie couldn't help but smile a little. It wasn't often that the other girl rambled. It was actually cute in a silly kind of way.

"Lie about your age the next time one of us has to rush you in? And good thing for you that I made Hammie whomp some soup up once we got you in bed."

Reaching out her free arm, she snagged a pair of thermoses sitting on the bedside table and set them on the bed before reachign out a second time to snag a mug and a plastic cup.

"He made some awesome vegetable soup and even squeezed some fresh orange juice for you. He is also the one who carried you here. But I promise I didn't let him oogle you more than necessary."

Holding a thermos btween her knees, she managed to upcap it and pour some of the soup into the mug before handing it to Cordy.

"Ugggh." She groaned, eyes closing a bit tighter even though it made her wince in the process of doing so. "I don't even remember what I was wearing before I henshined up..." Although not knowing may have made it worse had Oddy been the one to carry her back to Gabbie's. Hammie, for all of his jokes and his doofus-like drooling had only ever had eyes for Gabrielle... And she herself had never harbored any sort of feelings for him other than seeing him as a brotherly-sort.

Oddy, on the other hand...

"Please tell me I at least had a little bit of dignity?"

A silly thing to be worried about, really, but every now and then there was still need to prove that, deep down, she was a teenage girl; one who every now and then worried about appearances in front of boys just a little bit more than the outcome of the Ultimate Showdown.

That moment ended the moment the soup was handed to her, though. The aroma was delicious, making her mouth water as though she hadn't eaten in ages even as her stomach rolled. "Hush you..." She prodded her belly lightly before wrapping her fingers around the bowl of the mug, absorbing a bit of the warmth as she gathered her thoughts again. "... How did we get back, Gabbie?"

Their conversation continued on for a bit just like that; Cordelia asking clearly confused questions and Gabrielle filling in the blanks as a dutiful friend and, occasionally, as her second in command. It ended when the soup was finished and Cordelia, exhausted from the effort of talking and remembering, began to drift off again. It would likely happen again the next time she awoke until the bits and pieces settled back into place again but, for now, the team had time to rest...

Time to regroup and time to ponder regrets.
