The words 'we need to talk' sat in the text box, waiting to be sent through on her phone. Cordelia hadn't sent the text because that wasn't the way to start a conversation, even if it was the truth. No one wanted to take part in a conversation that started out with we need to talk. Sighing, Cordelia deleted the text, flopping down onto her sofa before typing out something a bit less ominous. [ Text to Fiona: Pondering ordering something from the Chinese food place down the street. Might pop Stardust on too. Up for dinner and a movie? Maybe chatting about some things too?]

Truthfully Fiona had been waiting for Cordelia to approach her with a we need to talk because everything that happened in the Negaverse Kingdom had been a horrible mess with all of them running around without a solid plan, just doing whatever came instinctively.
The gingers had been the worst offenders.
And they'd all been too exhausted after they'd gathered at her house and she tended to the wounds that she could to deal with a serious discussion. So she'd been waiting, trying to decide when to bring it up but - work and a side project had swallowed up all her time and she hadn't thought twice about it until her phone lit up with a text from Cordy.
[Text to Cordy: Your place or mine? ]
It'd been a no brainer and Fiona had come to rely on the raven-haired woman very much so when she asked for something, Fiona tried to comply.

[ Text to Fiona: Mine, if you don't mind.] The two communicated back and forth for a short time discussing menu options. After figuring out what time Fiona would be over she pulled up her usual order online, adding on the food items that the ginger had requested as well, confirming the delivery time and asking it be charged to her card. "Well, that's one thing down," she murmured to herself, tapping her foot on the floor as she tried to center herself. A quick sweep was done around the modest apartment, picking up a few things that had been hastily strewn about and making certain that the bathroom was clean. She splashed a bit of water into her face, patting it dry before heading into the kitchen to get a pot of water started for tea.

It didn't take Fiona long to get to Cordy's house, having called up the driver her parents insisted she use to take her to the other woman's place. Usually, the redhead preferred to walk when she could but Cordelia's house was too far away to walk to in a reasonable time frame and, besides, she didn't want to risk powering up to shorten the travel time.
She was still nervous about being watched.
So, fifteen minutes after she'd texted Cordy, she showed up at the woman's door in a simple pale pink dress and her favorite boots. Carefully, suddenly a bundle of nerves, Fiona knocked on the door before wiping sweaty palms on the skirt of her dress.

Cordelia had swept her raven hair up into a messy ponytail, looking far less polished than she usually did when out and about, but far more comfortable in her leggings and oversized tee as the trade-off. She flashed Fiona a smile as she opened the door to her apartment, stepping side to let her friend in. The apartment itself was simple; the living room roughly the size of one of the two-person dorms at Crystal with a bedroom tucked around a bend. The bathroom was next to the bedroom and a kitchenette could be seen on the opposite side of the breakfast bar. The decorations, however, were very much Cordelia -- soft blues, a bit of black and overall comfort. "Come on in. Food should be here in another ten. Haven't started steeping tea yet. Didn't want to do that without knowing what you might want to drink. If you'd rather have something else I think I have some flavored water, regular water and -- Don't laugh at me for this one, alright? Juice boxes."

Fiona's own hair had been thrown into a side braid that fell across her shoulder and down to the ends of her ribcage. Both women looked like they went for ease and comfort rather than style and frankly, Fiona was glad that Cordy didn't look polished because it made her feel better about her outfit choice.
"I like green tea or anything peach flavored," she offered with a soft smile, tucking a loose strand of hair behind an ear before she stepped indoors. The apartment was a lovely one, slightly smaller than her own but better decorated. Fiona had never been able decide what to put on her walls like her companion seemed to.
"Well, my decision to laugh is based solely upon what type of juice boxes they are. If they're not up to my standard, I'm going to be disappointed."

"Wonderful. I definitely have green tea." She nodded, smiling as she shut the door behind the other young woman. "Hot or iced?" It would start out hot either way, but could easily be tossed into a pitcher to chill while they waited for their food to arrive. "I'm pretty sure they're an apple blend of some sort. I grabbed them at the grocery store when I was putting together little care packages to take with me to the park -- They're also so much easier to snag on the go if I forget to fill my water bottle before work," she chattered on her way back to the kitchen, filling the empty space with words. "Feel free to make yourself comfortable, Fi."

"Hot is fine, with some honey if you've got it," she replied, shrugging off the jacket she'd tugged on as a last minute addition to her outfit and setting on the back of the couch. "Apple blend isn't a bad choice as long as there's no pineapple among them. I just - can't stand the taste." Her nose crinkled at the thought but she followed Cordy into her kitchen, letting her gaze sweep across the set up.
"Your place is lovely," she complimented, blue and green eyes settling on the smaller raven-haired woman. "I will. I just - " she stopped, hesitating and gathering her hands together, wringing them slightly. "We need to talk, don't we?"
Fiona felt better just blurting it out rather than waiting for it to be brought up. "I'm sorry you know. For rushing through the way I did I was just - I was scared." Scared to lose Celsus, to lose any of them. It was easier to throw herself into the fight and be distracted trying to protect everyone than to stand on the sidelines and twiddle her thumbs. "I didn't want to lose anyone."

Cordelia hadn't expected Fiona to break first, but when the other young woman began to talk she went with it. She stepped aside, reaching over to pull out one of the two chairs at the bistro style table, motioning for Fiona to take a seat while she got two cups down from the cupboard along with the tin containing her favorite green tea blend. "I understand why you did it. I don't blame you for it-- It's not really in our nature to just sit by and let things happen, is it." A simple statement, not even bothering to question it. There was a small, sad smile on her face as she filled a tea ball, dropping it into the kettle to steep before turning to face her friend. "When Celsus took of running I-- I knew that we would too. If you didn't chase after him I would have. He was in no condition to--" Cordelia paused, sighing as she leaned back against the counter, closing her eyes so she wouldn't have to see the look on Fiona's face as she continued talking. "We'd met before. The night you and I met Caedus in the park -- I had the blanket with me because I was trying to find him, Celsus, again. I thought he might need it. I thought he might need someone. I should have told you, but with everything... It didn't seem like it was the right time." She hadn't wanted Fiona to worry more.

Fiona didn't want to even think about all of the other reckless things she'd done. She'd been driven by instinct and need, the need to protect Celsus and to do whatever it took to get that stupid dragon from hurting anyone else. Her hands still had mild burns on them and she winced when she rubbed against the skin too harshly.
"It's not like you knew that I knew him," Fiona replied quietly thinking of the first time she met Celsus. "He's been unstable the entire time I've known him. I found him bleeding in the snow. That's how we met." Her jaw set tightly and she picked at the hem of her dress when she took a seat across from Cordelia.
"We've argued a bit. I knew he wasn't in the right state. I should have made both him and Altais go home." It was hurt fault Al had sustained a head injury. If she hadn't made him throw her up in the air and then catch her -
He would have been less injured.
"You can always talk to me, you know that right? It doesn't matter what it's about. We're - we're partners and I will never leave you okay? We're good together Cordy, we're a team and nothing is going to change that okay?" She promised reaching across the table for her hand.

At some point she had taken a seat across from Fiona and when the other woman held her hand out she took it, giving it a squeeze. It was silly how comforting she found the action when she had once prided herself on how cold and distant she could be from everything. "We do need to talk, Fiona-- About more than just... More than just what happened that night. We, I..." It was so hard trying to figure out where to start. The words were there but it was so hard to say them. Cordelia gave Fiona's hand another squeeze before letting it go so that she could fiddle with the pendant hanging around her neck. "I told you about Saiph and Alshain. When they," she paused again, hand falling away from her necklace so that her fingers could clench into fists. Enough time had passed that it should have been easier to talk about what happened, and it was, but... "When they died I didn't know what to do. I lost it. They were my everything and I lost both of them to the same freak accident. The night I met Celsus he was so lost and hurting and I saw myself. I saw myself the night I went to the cemetery; the night I wanted to forget everything so badly that I almost let the Negaverse take me... And I would do anything to keep anyone else from feeling like that, even if it meant chasing them into the Abyss to keep them safe."

"You aren't going to lose me or any of us. I promise." It was a dangerous thing to promise but Fiona meant it and if the ginger set her mind on something, it was going to happen. Besides, she always kept her promises and she couldn't let Cordelia down. Not after Saiph or Alshain.
"You've got me and you've got Al." Fiona was certain that where ever she went, the senshi of shockwaves would follow. There was a thread leading from her to him and her to Corvus. There was probably a thread that led her back to Celsus too, they were all tied together and Fiona believed with her whole heart that they were a group at had a firm foundation.
Especially after the sleep over.
There were worse storms to weather, they'd make it.
"I won't - okay, I know promising it is something I can't really do but Cordy," Fiona sounded desperate, pleading here with her fingers twining with her friend's. "Cordy you got me and I'm sure Fritz and Khaleel feel the same. We're - we can do this. We can build a new family, where no one gets left behind, okay?"

Cordelia could feel tears stinging her eyes as Fiona spoke, ignoring the small voice in her head that was tempted to throw everything back at the other girl. She couldn't make promises like that, no one could, and yet... "I'm not going anywhere. We're in this together, all of-- All of us," she pushed the words out with a slight catch in her voice, other hand coming to the table to cover Fiona's on top of her own. She was smiling despite the tears, laughing softly as she shook her head. "Fritz, Celsus, was just telling me about his new family the other night. He was smiling." Smiling, cracking jokes; a part of her still couldn't believe it, but it was good. "This-- This is something that we can do. It's something that we can make work. We just have to hold on to that truth, and to each other."

"We're gonna build a new family okay Cordy. You and me an Khaleel and Fritz and anyone else that wants to join okay?" Fiona wasn't crying, not yet, because one of them needed to be strong when the other was emotional. She was okay with being the strong one right now.
They'd trade off later.
"He's really happy, he's doing better but I still want to kick his a** for making me pick him up from the hospital without so much as a phone call," she huffed, feigning a pout when she thought back to that day and the text message she got.
"He's doing better, I'm helping him." With small steps but she'd promised that she'd be there, that she wasn't going anywhere just like she promised Cordy. "It's easier, knowing that you've got my back. You know that right?" She asked quietly, gaze dropping as her cheeks flushed.
"Do you remember how Cosmos mentioned those courts? Maybe we...maybe we can build one, based on that. We're a family no matter what and no one gets left behind. Especially not you."

Cordelia tugged her hands free from Fiona's so that she could stand, making her way over to the other side of the table so that she could slip her arms around her friend. She rested her head lightly against Fiona's, giving the other woman a gentle squeeze before leaning back. "Khaleel seems like he's crazy about you, and Fritz-- He's lucky to have a friend who cares about him as much as you do. I am too," she murmured softly, eyes drifting over Fiona's face for a moment. "Do you really think that we could do it? Be the force that holds a group together? I... I'll be honest, I tried it before and it didn't work out so well." Cordelia managed to crack a weary smile. "I'm in if you are, Fiona. Ohana."
