Z I N N I A . H A Y E S • Name: Zinnia Hayes • Nickname: Zin
• Age: 15 • Birthday: October 13 • Gender: Female • Height: 5' 1" • Weight: 110 lbs • Hair Color/Style: Dark blue messy bob cut • Eye Color: Chocolate brown • Skin Color: Medium tan
• Current Residence: Katarina, Zatao • Occupation: Trainer and Researcher • Pokémon Specialty: None
• Personality: Childish, Naive, Outgoing, Willful, Hardworking, Spontaneous
Zinnia's internal world is riddled with anxieties. When she is alone, her insecurities come to the forefront. She is afraid of failure, and afraid of losing control over her life. Her parents are a major source of her worry; she grew up with parents that had high expectations for her, that wanted to mold her to become the type of woman that they desired her to be. She was born with a stubborn and independent attitude, so she has clashed with them for most of her life. Many of her decisions were made to spite them, which leaves her feeling torn deep down because she does not really want to disappoint her loved ones. Her desire for freedom is hard to reconcile with her desire to please others. Zinnia is not highly aware of this deepest layer of her personality.
The personality that Zinnia projects externally is an earnest one. She is enthusiastic and almost forcefully cheerful. This Zinnia is determined to see no wrong in the world; she believes the best of everyone, and is confident that things have a way of working out in the end. She is likely to ignore problems in the hopes that they will go away. In this way, she often behaves childishly; she will refuse to accept anything that doesn't go her way. When things do play out in her favor, she becomes extremely happy and energetic. She is the type of person who wakes up with full energy and continues to run at top speed until she drops from sheer exhaustion.
Zinnia is extremely extroverted. When it comes to interpersonal relationships, she always tries to put her best foot forward. She has a lot of respect for her elders and highers-up, but her desire for independence shines through even at this outermost layer of her personality, so she can be defiant from time to time. For the most part, however, she is very friendly. She is quick to judge people, but most of the time the judgement falls in the favor of her acquaintance. She makes friends quickly, and with as many people as possible. She hates to be alone, so she will forge bonds where there are none. She can befriend just about anyone, although her infectiously cheerful behavior might annoy some. This Zinnia is overconfident and wants to impress her friends. This can result in some foolhardy behavior, but it is also her incentive to work hard and never give up.
• Bio: Zinnia’s parents—especially her mother—despised pokemon. Zinnia, on the other hand, wanted nothing more than to be a pokemon trainer. She tried to make friends with the pokemon that lived in her back yard (caterpie and pidgey for the most part), but this only prompted her mother to spray the entire yard with Repels, effectively erasing any contact her young daughter had with pokemon. Every year for her birthday, Zinnia only asked for pokemon; and every year, she instead received a new dress, or doll, or other “girly” object. She focused her misplaced disappointment and anger on anything that she deemed remotely feminine—and thus, she became a frustrated tomboy.
When she turned twelve years old, Zinnia decided that enough was enough. She finally did what she’d been threatening to do since she was nine years old; she packed up her things and ran away from home. She still didn’t have a pokemon, but she was determined to obtain one. She wandered into the forest and searched for her new friend, but all of the wild pokemon fled from her on sight. Eventually, she made her way into a cave. It was full of zubats, and, startled by her presence, they flew out in a rush. When she was no longer blinded by a mob of furry bodies, she could see that one tiny gray zubat had been left behind; he was injured.
Zinnia took it upon herself to nurse the bat pokemon back to health. At first, he did not take well to her ministrations at all; he hardly let her touch him and bit her on more than one occasion. But the girl was not so easily discouraged; she decided to name him Zyk and chatted away to him constantly, telling him all about herself. Slowly, Zyk came around and started liking Zinnia more and more as his wounds healed.
Zyk was the runt of his colony. The sheer number of bodies and limited space on the cave ceiling meant that he was always roughly jostled into the least desirable roosting spots; as a result, he was heavily exposed to the everstones that grew in certain parts of the cave. While many members of his colony grew large and strong—and a few even managed to evolve into golbats—he was trapped in a small and weak body. As Zinnia explained her story and her desire to become a pokemon trainer and travel around the world, he realized that this was his chance to get away and prove that he could be strong too. He decided to follow her, and pay her back for her kindness by protecting her in the same way that she’d healed and protected him.
Not long after that, Zinnia ran into a Rocket grunt. Oblivious to the organization’s nefarious reputation, she was easily taken in by the grunt’s tales of grandeur and promises of friendship. She quickly agreed to join Team Rocket and gained a (relatively) safe place to sleep, along with a guaranteed three meals a day. Because she was so young and new, the other Rockets kept her in the dark about the true purpose of the organization. They gave her simple assignments, until they heard a tip that a legendary pokemon was living in a nearby forest. Because it was unconfirmed, they decided that it was a good chance to get the new recruit out of the way for a while and sent her off to capture the rumored pokemon.
Zinnia was quite used to camping by that point and was eager to finally be doing something useful, so she and Zyk set out. They searched fruitlessly all day long and well into the night after the sun had set, but to no avail. Then, disaster struck; with no light to see by, Zinnia accidentally wandered straight into a deep river. She couldn’t find the shore and was in very real danger of drowning. Zyk, unable to do anything else, made quite a racket. He squeaked for help at the top of his lungs—and he was heard. The mysterious legendary pokemon herself appeared—a black mew with radiant orchid eyes. She used her psychic powers to free the twelve-year-old from the cold clutches of the river and dried her off. The mew stayed with them through the rest of the night, giving Zinnia the chance to explain why she was in the forest. The mew agreed to accompany Zinnia back to Team Rocket’s headquarters so that she would be able ensure the girl’s continued safety.
The higher-ups were very impressed by Zinnia’s successful return, but they were unable to take full advantage of the legendary pokemon in their midst due to her loyalty to her new trainer. Any time they tried to steal the mew for their experiments, the psychic pokemon vanished. They eventually gave up, instead allowing Zinnia and the mew free reign while they made their observations from a distance. They were able to obtain samples of the Shadow Mew’s fur, but that is another story…
Zinnia remained a member of Team Rocket for two years. Some time after she turned fourteen, she was commanded to do her first real deed as a member of the criminal organization; she, accompanied by a partner, was to break into a pokemon center and steal the sick and injured pokemon within. Out of a sense of obligation, she tried to obey the order. She broke into the pokemon center, but when it came to stealing the pokemon, she could not bring herself to do it. Using her mew’s ability to teleport, she escaped into the wilderness. Team Rocket sent grunts after her in an effort to recapture Shadow Mew, but after many unsuccessful attempts they were forced to give up.
Zinnia met many new friends while on the run, and her team grew larger. Eventually, she felt that it was safe enough for her to return to the city where she was able to establish herself as a legitimate trainer.

Still, he was a bit wary of these dangerous people, and ran away at the first frightening encounter. He didn't go far, though; after a few days of following the group, he realized that they really were a kindly bunch, though they were overcoming some sort of trouble. P R O F E S S I O N S • Trainers: + First stage - Trainers have some interest in battling and seek to collect gym badges that serve as a mark of their skill. There can also be more casual trainers that just seek to go on a journey to become stronger with no set goal. Trainers are free to battle gyms as well as enter contests.
+ Unlocked by - N/A.
+ Advantages - N/A. - Disadvantages - N/A.
• Ace Trainers: + Second Stage - Ace Trainers are trainers that have conquered at least three gyms, and are considered to be among the best.
+ Unlocked by - Earning three different gym badges.
+ Advantages - In battles and roleplay event battles, once per battle, an Ace Trainer can try to make their pokemon's attack hit where it hurts. After rolling a successful attack that was not critical, you may randomize 1-2. On a 2, the attack becomes critical. If you fail the roll, you may try again for your next attack. - Disadvantages - N/A.Rank-up requirements: • Pokémon Researchers: + Second stage - A long-time watcher has enough expertise to be called a Pokémon researcher. These professionals have a large base of knowledge about many different Pokémon and are acknowledged as experts in their field.
+ Unlocked by - RP and interact with 50 different pokemon species and at least 1 legendary (event RPs do not count). An interaction counts as being in a RP, or a battle with Pokémon being observed for at least 5 posts long (by you). Battles and RPs need to have at least 2 sentences minimum per post. If there are multiple Pokémon, each different species needs to be observed for 5 posts long, for example, in a RP with 2 Pokémon being observed, you will need to make 5 posts about each Pokémon you are watching. Your own Pokémon do not automatically count for the requirement, but you may write a solo RP (minimum 500 words) with the Pokémon for it to count.
