"Go easy on her," Zinnia said to Zyk. "This is practice for them, so they can learn to work as partners." The crobat nodded and squeaked softly. He preened his trainer's short hair for a moment before launching himself onto the field.

Lenore walked into the stadium flanked by Mephistopheles and Zarya. The two ghost types were going over strategy for the coming battle while Lenore read a book. Looking up as she reached the railing, Lenore gave a small smile to Zin as Zarya and Mephistopheles finished up their conversation.
"Do your best, Zarya." The dusknoir nodded at the mismagius, who buried her face in her collar before nodding back. Zarya floated down to the field below.

Zarya nodded sheepishly at Lenore's command, and her eyes began to glow violet as telepathic energy ripped apart the shield of mist.

Zarya's eyes widened at the mass of mist swirling toward her, and she cried out as it engulfed her. "Keep it up! Psychic!" The mismagius forced herself to calm down a little, and her eyes began to glow again. She sent a wave of telekinetic energy at the crobat.

Zyk was blasted back again, and suddenly he realized it wasn't a matter of him going easy on his teammate; it seemed that Zarya was a lot more powerful than she looked. "(Nice hit,)" he told her. He was now flying by switching active pairs of wings to conserve energy, rather than flapping all four.
He attempted another Confuse Ray attack.
