Zinnia was sitting on a rock that was conveniently placed in a meadow. She was, as always, clad in her Rocket uniform. On her fist was perched Zyk, to whom she was apparently talking.
"They told me to catch some pokemon, any pokemon," she was saying. "But they don't understand! I would never use a pokeball, even if they did give me any. Which they didn't, as you know. They probably think that I already have some. But anyway, I never use them! I didn't use one on you, and I won't use them on any other pokemon. It's not right to take a wild pokemon suddenly from their home and only way of life with a hit on the head. I wouldn't want that to happen to me." Zinnia's tone was earnest. She really felt strongly about the topic at hand, and was probably just talking about it to get the idea out there. No doubt the Rockets had no time for what they would call a silly notion. So she had turned to the only other source she knew: Zyk.
"So I will never use a pokeball. Ever! If I need another pokemon, I'll convince them to join me like I did with you." Zinnia smiled and gently ran a finger down the zubat's wing. "I do battle with you, but I would never have a fight if you or any other pokemon I might have didn't want to. You're the ones getting hurt, so I'd do it only with their permission. That's why I ask you before each fight if you're okay with it! And I give you lots of long rests in between. Fighting makes pokemon stronger, and it was part of our bargain, Zyk, to protect you and make you stronger."
Zinnia sighed. "Thanks for listening, Zyk," she said.
"Zu!" Zyk squeaked. His ears suddenly perked up higher and swiveled to catch a noise from somewhere behind his trainer. Had he not been the only one listening to his trainer's speech?

Choppi had been sitting in a gaggle of bushes that lined a flower filled meadow. A small handheld computer in her hand pinged away and she closed it shut. Looking for Oddish was a hard task, at least here in Zatao.
Pulling at her left pigtail, she scribbled idly in some notes she came up with that she might need later. Then as the pen scratching faded, words came floating past her ears. A familar voice she knew. Tilting her head, she leaned forwards out of the bushes a bit, trying her best not to scare whatever might have been there. Pokemon or human, she was trying her best to stay downwind and be quiet. The watcher knew she had a way to go still however...
Spotting what looked like her over self at a slightly younger age, she smiled. It was Zinnia. She may have been Team Rocket, but her words told her once again that she really was a caring person on the inside. Smiling to herself now, she flipped the page of her notebook and began to doodle a quick sketch of the pair. The Z Team, she called them in her head. Then, she had to wonder what the pair would think if they heard that.

Zinnia watched Zyk with some concern. "What is it, Zyk?" she asked. She had learned by now how Zyk acted when he was agitated or wary. His ears were up as high as they could go to catch any sound and he held himself stiffly, his claws tight on her glove.
"Zu..." Zyk said, tilting his head a fraction. Suddenly, like turning on a radio, he heard the scratching of the pencil, the rustle of clothes, and the steady breathing of a human. They weren't too far, judging by the volume. "Zu zu bat!" he shrieked, taking to the air. Maybe it was a spy! He had to protect Zinnia at all costs! He began flying towards Choppi.
"Zyk, wait!" shouted Zinnia. "Where are you going? Wait up!"

"Ah!" She inhaled sharply in suprise. Zyk had spotted her! Flitting his wings quickly he flew closer and closer. Quickly, Choppi knew she had to act.
Fervently ripping the paper from her notbook, she began to fold. The whole while she listened to the zubat's upset squeaks. She wasn't a threat, she knew this. Perhaps she could put his mind at ease.
Folding the last part of the paper, she smiled. Then sticking her tounge out to the side as she was now deep in thought, she aimed towards the zubat's general direction. Then, she threw it!
A white paper airplane zoomed out of the bushes, folded well enough to catch a breeze. There was a little doodle of a bat in the corner of it upon closer inspection. It twirled around then and landed in the grass. Choppi stifled a giggle, waiting for Zyk's reaction.

Zyk halted in the air as some obstruction came flying at him. Unable to see, he did not know that it was just harmless paper. He knew the basic shape from echolocation, however, and decided that it wasn't dangerous. He hovered and "watched" as the airplane fell into the grass. The human was still there... He continued squeaking until he had located Choppi. He recognized that shape... It was the trainer that he had fought against twice now. What was she doing here?
Zinnia finally caught up, panting. She looked at the paper and saw the zubat drawing. She glanced at her hovering zubat before picking up the paper and opening it. She smiled and laughed at the doodle; it was an amazing drawing of her and Zyk! Who had drawn it? She looked around. Although Zyk had "spotted" her, Zinnia could not see through the bushes. "Hello?" she called meekly. She then hastily cleared her throat and said in a deeper, meaner voice, "I mean, uh, who's there! Show yourself!"

Jumping up in a flurry of leaves, Choppi put up her 'rawr hands to go with her face. "It's meee!" She tried to have a growly voice, but she knew that she was simply not scary. Her pigtails bounced along with the tied pokeballs in her hair as she giggled. "Your twin remember!"
Hopping out of the bush, she slid her backpack onto her shoulder as even more leaves fell off her form. Choppi had been in the bush for a while, and in all fairness she'd actually glued some leaves on. Well, she'd tried. Her clothes were completely green, even the ties in her bright blue hair.
"Nice to see you again Zinnia!" Cheerful as always. "What brings you and Zyk all the way out here?" She tilted her head with the quirey.

Zyk flew down and landed on Zinnia's arm, which she held out for him. He then walked his way up until he reached her shoulder, where he sat snugly. He didn't think that Choppi would attack, but there was nothing wrong with being careful.
Zinnia had mixed feelings about the trainer. She didn't know much about the girl except from battling her. "Oh, hi... It's Choppi, right? I mean, why we're here is a top secret!" she said, holding herself high. "What is your business in this location?" She had heard the other rockets use long words and it sounded impressive.

Turning and digging into her bag, she spoke as she fished around. "I'm doing my first really serious job as a pokemon watcher." Her words were laced with happiness and excitement. Then, finding a small photo that was worn around the edges, she smiled and held it out to the girl.
"I'm looking for a group of Oddish to study. I'd also like to see if one would become my pokemon partner. Hannah and Cassie are great, but I just wish for a grass type to have."
She had to find that treasured photo in a sketchbook jammed with scribbles of the pokemon type. Choppi kinda didn't want to show it to anyone, becuase she found her doodle to be special.
"So, I'm putting alot of my time into researching, studying, and observing, in the hope that I'll find one eventually!" More than happy to tell the rocket member, she remembered that she had a question for her.
"Well, what about you Zinnia? What kind of mission is it? Are you here to train with Zyk?"

Zinnia looked at the photo with mild interest. She had never seen such a pokemon before. It looked pretty cute, but she liked Zyk better. She wondered why the watcher wanted so specifically a grass pokemon, but then she remembered how some rockets specialized in certain types of pokemon. Maybe it was something like that.
"I already told you!" Zinnia pouted. She then continued rather rudely, "It's top secret, so I can't tell you. And no, I'm not training with Zyk. If I wanted to do that, I'd be in the stadium!" Zinnia couldn't imagine training outside of the stadium. To her, training was battling, and you couldn't just randomly attack a wild pokemon! If you were training, then you had to do it with two pokemon that knew what was coming and was prepared for it.
Zyk relaxed as he listened to the conversation. It wasn't hostile at all. He folded his wings more comfortable and leaned against Zinnia's neck, warming her ear up in his soft gray fur.

"...oh." Choppi kinda trailed off as she tugged at her sheets of paper idly. She watched the zubat in her own thoughs. "I see." His coat seemed brighter than the last time they'd encounted the other. Zinnia was taking good care of the little guy. She smiled weakly.
"You have a good heart you know..." Choppi began, but then realized that the Rocket might not want to hear it. "..I bet you Zyk really loves you back. You're really good to him."
Fumbling with her backpack, she tired to shove her sketchbook back in but rather the book spilled from her hands. Falling to the ground, the binding broke and pages scattered about on the grass. Several sketches were quite details, but one seemed to be of a blur with a long tail.
Sighing and kneeling, she picked up her sketch of Articuno she'd made last year and smoothed it out a bit. That had been a fun trip. She'd found Cassie on that trip.

Zinnia grinned. "Yep, we really..." She watched as her notebook suddenly broke. She automatically crouched down, making Zyk move onto her hat, and helped collect the pages. "Wow... You're really good at drawing!" she said. "Do you draw all the pokemon you see?" she asked. She looked down in her hand and saw the doodle. "Did you draw this?" she asked, holding it out.
Zyk chirruped unhappily. Why was Zinnia talking to this human? She should be paying more attention to him. He sat and waited impatiently, still holding on to the Rocket's hat.

Choppi was caught off guard and she blushed a bit, and thn found her words. "Y-yes. I drew them. I like to sketch pokemon that I see in the wild." She tucked a few away in a folder that she seemingly magically produced. A few more leaves fell off her outfit in the process.
"I drew that one about a week ago. I was at the Valley Windworks in Sinnoh, and I saw this pokemon flying really fast. I managed to get a scribble of it...but it's not that good."
The pokemon had a small body and a very long tail. Seemingly catlike features, but was dainty.
"I've never seen one like it, especially a flying one." Choppi smiled, looking at the paper and stirring up memories. "I only saw a few Drifloon there...otherwise."

(( Whoa, I totally forgot that Zinnia hates being called by her name. xD;; ))
Zinnia stared at the drawing. "Hmm..." she examined the tail. "It looks like... Actually, I'm not sure. I've never seen anything like that... Probably it's a rare pokemon!" Zinnia didn't seem too excited about the fact that Choppi had seen a rare pokemon; she seemed more interested in the watcher's artistic skills. "You say that it's not good, but it is!" she said, standing back up and giving back some fallen papers. "I wish that I could draw that well."
Zyk clambered back down from the had to Zinnia's shoulder with his trainer's help. He shuffled his feet for a moment, then stuck his tongue out at Choppi, who he hoped was watching.
Zinnia didn't seem to notice Zyk's rudeness. "But that aside, please don't call me Zinnia! My name is Zin."

“Zin.” Choppi tried out the word, as she looked at the ground and smiled. “Ah, well I…” Then her eyes fell upon Zyk and his little zubat tounge sticking out at her and frowned. All she had was admiration for how well he battled and for his devotion to Zinnia, but obviously he didn’t like her. That kinda hurt her a bit.
Quickly shifting her focus to the Pokemon, she fished into her bag. Choppi was trying to blend together natural herbs to make her own blend of pokechow. It was going well, and maybe the zubat would like to try her cave dwelling Pokemon blend. He was a zubat after all.
“D-do you think he’d like to try some?” She motioned to the bat and held out the little treat in a wrapper. “I don’t know if he’d like it…”
To be honest, she was really worried. No tame pokemon had ever tried her food other than her own...this was a big step for her.

Zinnia blinked uncertainly. "I don't know... He doesn't usually like people he doesn't know..." Zinnia held out her hand to the zubat and convinced him to step onto it. The Rocket slowly moved Zyk closer to the food.
Zyk sniffed at the wrapper. He opened his little mouth, then dug his needle-like teeth into Choppi's hand, injecting her with a weak poison.
"Ai!" shouted Zinnia, wrenching the zubat away. She angrily tossed him into the air, where he started squeaking madly and hovering overhead. "I'm so sorry!" Zinnia said, taking something out of her glove sleeve. It was a bottle of Antidote. "I always carry this around, since he tends to bite people..." Zinnia apologized repeatedly and applied the medicine to the bite.
Zyk still hovered overhead, squeaking his discontent. What had he done wrong? He was only protecting his human...
