((This takes place just after Zinnia's battle. The three of them have just left the area so that it can be cleaned up and prepared for its next battle.)) Quote: Sitting up on the bleachers, a middle aged man sighed. "Needs work," he said, adjusting his white coat with a little red "R" pin resting on his lapel. "Still," he grinned in a most sinister manner, "I think she will yield most excellent results..." The man got up and walked out. "Yes... soon we shall meet again... my little Lisa Mason, my daughter..." ((Here Zinnia and Dr. Mason meet)) Quote: Zinnia: Hi! The name's Zin. *holds out a hand*Shadow Mew: ....... Quote: Dr. Mason: *takes Zinnia's hand and shakes it* Well done in that battle you fought! I'm certain your opponent is going to be brooding for quite the while. *turns to Shadow Mew* Ah! It is rare indeed that I am granted permission to see a legendary Pokemon specimen so close up, and alive to boot!

Zinnia grinned. "Yeah, I heard that black mews are really rare. In fact, I bet that Shadow Mew is the only one!" Zinnia smiled proudly. "Yeah, I beat her. It was pretty hard, though, but I bet that Shadow Mew could beat anyone!" Zinnia was extremely confident and was trying to act grown-up.
Shadow Mew, however, was not pleased. Alive to boot? she thought silently. What, had this man examined many dead legendary pokemon? She didn't trust him, despite his friendly demeanor. She remained silent and expressionless, however.

Dr. Mason smiled, "Well, I must say you both put on a admirable showing." He took a closer look at the black Mew. "Say, Zin, you wouldn't mind coming over to my lab later on so I can get some samples from this fine specimen. If I could analyze its behavior patterns, I'm certain it would help me greatly on my current big project." The Doctor chuckled to himself. If the girl agreed, he might end up months, even years ahead of schedule! He stroked the bulge made by one of his many syringes. Even if the girl refused, he couldn't let such a prize get away, now could he?

"Oh, I don't know..." Zinnia said. "It's not really up to me, is it? Shadow, what do you think? He seems like a nice guy." Zinnia looked at her mew.
Shadow Mew looked the man up and down, trying to analyze him with her bright purple eyes. Were his intentions truly innocent? Either way, she had only one answer for the human. < Tell him I will not subject myself to his experiments. > She told Zinnia telepathically.
"... She says no thank you for now," Zinnia replied. "I'm sorry."

Dr. Mason's smile turned slowly into a frown. "I see... well, Shadow, was it? Could I perchance get a small sample? Nothing too drastic, I assure you, just a little blood draw. I've gotten so good most subjects barely feel anything! Or, if you're truly adverse, perhaps a cheek swab?" The doctor smiled once again at the mew. "Won't you please let me?" he said pleadingly. As much as he wanted to, he wasn't going to risk using the syringe without consent of the powerful Pokemon. The mew's basic data was probably in the general data-base, anyway. A fresh sample never hurt, though.

"C'mon, please?" Zinnia piped up. "I'm sure it won't hurt anything..." Zinnia's instinct to always be helpful was kicking in. "I'm sure it would be a lot of help, right, Doctor?" Zinnia said.
< I am not an object to do research on. > Shadow Mew replied bluntly. She then cut off her mental link with Zinnia and floated even higher out of reach, just to settle the matter. On top of all that, she turned invisible.
"That's not very nice!" Zinnia pouted. However, she pulled something dark off of her uniform and offered it to Dr. Mason. "She's still not willing to cooperate, but here's some hairs from her fur... It's not what you were looking for, I know, but that's all I have right now... Maybe I can talk her around later." Zinnia gave an uncertain smile.

"Ah, you have been most helpful, Zin, was it? I am horrible with names!" Dr. Mason took the hairs with a grateful smile. "You really don't have to do that, I'm certain I can find the necessary information myself." In reality, the doctor was disappointed. Why did they always show hair as the defining source of DNA in the movies? Oh well. Dr. Mason sighed, then smiled as an idea came to him. "I know! How about I take you out for ice cream for your victory! My treat."

Zinnia gasped. "Really?!" she said. "I love ice cream!" She was practically jumping on the spot. She suddenly wheeled around to where she believed Shadow Mew was. "Zyk is still sleeping, right? If he wakes up, tell him I'll be a little longer, 'kay?" she said brightly.
Shadow Mew dimly answered, < As you wish. >
Zinnia wheeled and grinned at Dr. Mason again. "Yeah! Ice cream!" she shouted with glee.

Dr. Mason grinned. He knew gaining the trainer's trust would be instrumental in his research. "So then, shall we go?" he cheerfully chimed as he walked toward the stadium exit. "You'll have to tell me your favorite place, of course. After all, I'm not a psychic like your Mew!" Dr. Mason pulled out a small GPS/Mapping Device so he would know where exactly to go, then looked expectantly at Zinnia.

"Oh, um..." Zinnia thought about it. "I like ice cream anywhere, but I really like it at Icy Cream's Ice Cream Shop," Zinnia said happily. "They have more than a bazillion flavors!" She told the doctor where it was located.*** At the store, Zinnia immediately ran off to look at more ice cream. She was still in her Rocket uniform, but apparently everyone there was used to it and thought that it was a joke. It was strange how no one thought someone as young and friendly as Zin would be a Rocket, even if she burst in demanding pokemon. "Ice cream, ice cream!" Zinnia chanted, pressing her nose against the glass that revealed the flavors. "Ooh, new kinds! Dr. Mason, can I have anything?" she said, looking back at Dr. Mason with puppy eyes.Shadow Mew was at Zinnia's side, but invisible. She watched the doctor suspiciously.

The doctor laughed. "Anything you want! Although do remember I'm not made of money. I, myself, will stick with tradition and have a nice choco- ooh! Is that mango I see?" Dr. Mason analyzed the list for other flavors.
The people on the street took no notice of Dr. Mason. He was adept at blending in with crowds, as much as he disliked being overly social. This girl, though, sparked something inside of him. Perhaps he'd give her one of his "projects" some day.

"In that case, I want a scoop of chicken dumpling ice cream, a scoop of avacado bliss, and a scoop of pickled turnips!" Zinnia said quite loudly.
A few customers stopped eating their ice cream to stare at who had made such a random order. However, the man at the cash register was used to Zinnia's bizarre taste buds and merely asked, "Would you like that in a bowl as usual, Zin?"
"Yes please!" she grinned. "Oh, and he's paying." She pointed at Dr. Mason.
"Aha, I see," the man laughed. "That'll be three dollars and seventy five cents, please, sir."

"Hold on, I haven't ordered for myself." Dr. Mason took one last look at the menu and came to a decision. "I think I shall have a scoop of chocolate and a scoop of mango madness, if you please." As the doctor brought out his wallet, a small photograph of himself, only younger, with a beautiful woman about his age holding a baby and smiling at the camera fell out. He hastily scooped it up and re inserted it into his wallet, then brought out the exact change for the ice cream order.

"Thank you sir, your ice cream is coming right up," said the man. He indicated to his left, where two other workers were busy making the ice cream.
Zinnia scurried to the end of the counter and held her hands out for her bowl, not even noticing Dr. Mason's photo. "Mmm..." she sighed. She then took a spoon and began aggressively smashing the globs of smelly ice cream together to make the taste even more... unique. "I always eat it like this," she said to no one. "Chocolate ice cream is gross and vanilla is boring. This is fun."
The other worker held up an ice cream cone for the Doctor.

"Thank you." The doctor smiled and took his cone from the vendor. He went over to a bench to sit and watched Zinnia mix her ice cream to produce her desired concoction. Now this was something he could appreciate, taking separate, unrelated flavors and mixing them together was, after all, his line of work. And he was very, very good at it.
"I see you appreciate trying interesting things without prejudice" Dr. Mason commented in a semi-serious tone. "I, too, like to mix different things without worrying too much about the results. In fact, I'll tell you a secret." The doctor grinned and beckoned the child over.
