Ice field : The temperature of the stadium suddenly drops several degrees (just enough so breath was visual and winter-wear is needed) as the stadium floor shifts for the upcoming battle. The floor turns into extremely slick ice which makes maneuverability, even simply standing, difficult. Randomly placed crystal-like pillars reach skyward from the frozen water, reflecting the florescent lights to all sides of the battle-field. This field gives a 25 HP attack boost to ICE type attacks

"Oh, brr!" Zinnia complained upon entering the stadium. She hurriedly dug through the bag that she always brought with her to gyms and pulled free a heavy, faux fur-lined coat. She stuck her arms through the sleeves and zipped it up to her chin. "This is gonna be tough to battle in," she said to Zyk, who landed on her shoulder again as soon as she had finished putting on the coat. "Try to keep moving, or you'll get frozen solid!" she warned.

She managed to get up the steps to the trainer's box without slipping on the cold cement. "This might not be the best field for us, but let's try and win!"

"Zu!" Zyk agreed. He didn't just want to win a battle-- he had to! He couldn't let Shadow and Dreydonna be Zinnia's only strong pokemon!

Dreidyn could feel the cold air through her jacket. This was not a good stage for Lotus, since she was really weak against ice type attacks. She couldn't remember if Zubat could learn ice type moves though. If the little bat did have something like that up his wing she would be very surprised.

"Let's go Lotus!" She said as she sent the Vibrava out. She was visibly shivering from the cold and her wings flapped furiously so they wouldn't frost over.

Dreidyn didn't waste any time in starting the battle. "Ok! Let's use Rock Tomb!"

Lotus hated having to land in order to use the attack but she had to follow orders. She only touched the icy surface for a second in order to dig up exceptionally large boulders and to throw them at the Zubat.

"Ah! We can't take it easy just because it's a bug!" Zinnia exclaimed as the insect pokemon hit Zyk with a rock so hard that he was knocked out of the air. His soft body slammed into the merciless ice floor with an audible crack. "Are you okay?!" the young trainer practically shrieked.

"Z... Zu..." Zyk replied in his high-pitched voice. He got wobbily to his feet, shook himself off, and leaped into the air again.

Zinnia sighed in relief. "All right... Use Air Cutter!"]

The blades of air stung her wings but Lotus managed to stay airborne. She and Dreidyn almost felt bad for landing a powerful hit on the small Zubat but when their opponent retaliated they had no choice but to fight back.

"Use Rock tomb again!" Dreidyn said. Since rocks were already unearthed, Lotus didn't have to land on the ice and instead used her tail to club it at Zyk's direction.

"Supersonic!" Zinnia commanded.

Zyk emitted a series of high-pitched squeaks in the hopes of confusing his foe.

Lotus's own wingbeats created a hum that drowned the Supersonic out so she wasn't affected. Dreidyn's face lit up with a smile as she cheered. "You go girl! Let's hit him with another Rock Tomb!"

The Vibrava swung her tail at a rock again. This kind felt like baseball, only she was batting rocks at a Zubat instead.

"Dodge it and use Twister!" Zinnia shouted.

Zyk managed to avoid the shrapnel and began beating his wings furiously. A razor-edged whirlwind appeared, and spiraled toward Lotus with the force of a dragon's wing.

Lotus screeched as the whirlwind tore at her body. Not only was it a powerful move, it also blasted her with cold air thanks to the stadium's low temperature. She had to land in order to recover her strength, no matter how much she hated touching the ice. But she wasted no time in taking off again, and launched another boulder at the Zubat without waiting for her trainer's orders.

A rock hit Zyk square in the chest, knocking him to the ground yet again. His head smacked against the rock-hard, icy floor and he felt that he lost consciousness momentarily. But he got back to his feet, feeling too dizzy and disoriented to do much else.

"Are you okay, Zyk!?" Zinnia asked her poor pokemon. She could see him tense, ready for her command, despite his condition. She bit her lip, wondering if it would be better to just forfeit the match. But she wasn't sure if Zyk would forgive her for doing that to him again. If Zyk was anything, he was tenacious! He had some desire to prove himself that Zinnia could never understand.

"All right then... Supersonic, if you can!"

The Zubat's Supersonic was a lot louder than the last time and it pierced through Lotus's constant humming. Dazed by the high pitched sound, she started flying around in circles, trying to regain her bearings.

"Ack!" Dreidyn shook her head. They were so close to winning too! "Hang in there! One more Rock Tomb should do it!"

Lotus was coherent enough to swing her tail down at a rock. She had no idea if she was hitting it though, since they seemed to be multiplying and moving around.

"Ah! Zyk, return!" Zinnia said as her zubat was hit by one last rock. She quickly held up his pokeball so that he was sucked back up into it in a beam of red light before he could come to further harm.

"Thanks for the battle!" she called across the stadium. Then she turned to go; she needed to get Zyk healed right away.
