When Vuai was looking into the water one day, patiently waiting for a fish to come close to be ensnared by his snatching paw, he saw Yara’s reflection. She’d come down to drink and didn’t really notice the scruffy lion the other side of the pool. He however fell in love with her there and then. However, he was not the most polished lion and his manners left a lot to be desired. Yara is a lady and it took Vuai a lot of time and effort to become a lion he considered worthy of Yara, a gentleman. He wooed her as his new persona and they’ve been a happy couple. However it’s not his natural state and he struggles with himself, struggles keep up the act of genteelness in place. He doesn’t know how Yara’ll ever react if she learns of her mate’s origins, if she met the true Vuai. He misses his old life and his old mannerisms and habits. He doesn't want to give her up; the mask is slipping; and now Yara's pregnant too.
