The sun shown brightly in the cloudless blue sky. Ak-kila walked out of the shade of the temple into the heat of the sun shine. It was a nice day just to relax, she thought. Walking gracefully, she found a spot near some playful cubs. As she neared them, she couldn't help but roll her eyes at them. "How childish," she muttered as she passed them and laid down. Unlike the cubs Ak-kila was a mature young lioness who didn't have time to play such cubish games.
She laid down and let her fur soak up the heat. When she was younger she watched some of the older lioness bathing in the sun. They looked so mature laying there, not caring about their surroundings, just relaxing. Now that she was mature she would look just as peaceful as they did. It wouldn't be long until cubs would be wishing they were like her.
As she watched them she couldn't help but miss playing games, especially hide and seek. That was one of her favorite games, except for when she was the seeker. She would always give up searching for the other cubs and find something else to do. It usually cause her a lot of conflict with the other cubs.
She let out a sigh. Playing silly games was just something you had to give up when you grow up, she told herself. It was a fair trade, but it didn't stop her from wanting to go play with them.

Zuberi flinched as a stray sunbeam shown onto his closed eyes. Mumbling words of discomfort for a few minutes curling up even tighter into a ball-shape he missed the creeping cubs that were heading towards him. He winced as he was woken up once more by the impack of tiny bodies jumping on him. " Little dudes that just ain't cool." He stared at them blankly for a few minutes before a small smile crept upon his face. Suddenly with no warning he gave a loud growl which at first scared them but suddenly it turned in to a fit of giggled laughter when they realized Zuberi was smiling at them.
Hangin around cubs was fun at times and they seemed to like being around him. He was mostly a big brother to the cubs to his pride. He shook his head as they ran off to their respective parents before he yawned and stretched. He was up now afterall, and there was no way he could catch some zzz's now. The sun felt wonderful on his golden body and he purred in contentment. A quiet rumble broke the silence around him causing him to look down at his stomach. " Guess it's time to start the day!" Zuberi thought allowed and moved out of his home to venture out to look for some food.

Ak-kila was drifting off to sleep when she heard the growl. She jumped to her feet and looked around to see what the commotion was all about. When she realized it was a youth her own age who had disturbed her rest all she could do was roll her eyes. She was so sure that it was one of the younger cubs who had done it. There must be some reason he would growl like that, she thought. She decided the best thing for her to do was to investigate. That is what a mature lioness would do after all.
She watched him from a distance, hoping he wouldn't notice her. Slowly she snuck closer to get a better view of the lion. When his stomach growled she let out a small squeak. She was not expecting the sound and spying made her all the more jumpy. Quietly she walked closer to him as he adventured away. She wondered where he was going. Perhaps he was being possessed by something and that was why he randomly growled.
One of her siblings had told her a story of a lion being possessed once when she was little. The story gave her nightmares for weeks. She gasped at the thought of a lion being possessed here in her pride. 'I better keep a closer eye on him,' she decided.

Zuberi suddenly felt this uncontrolable sensation crawling down his back and wiggle his body around to despel it, but what he didnt realize how goofy it was looking as all he wanted to do is get rid of the itch on his back. Looking left and right he walked over to the bark of a tree that he had spotted and began rubbing his body on it. The sound of his purring drown out the sound of a female squeak. Then his stomach growled a third time causing him to chuckle. Just as he was making his way around the hot ground a sound caught his attention. His eyes narrowed and scented the air.
" Hello?" He called out cautiously wondering if a cub had wander away from their parents. It was known to happen from time to time. He couldn't tell if they were a girl or boy. " Don't be afraid!" He sang out gaily all the while searching his surroundings, black eyes focused. " Want to play?" He called out curiously after a pause from his last words.

'What is he doing? Some kind of weird dance?' Ak-kila thought to herself. She watched silently as he rubbed his back against the tree. This wasn't too weird, she knew, she had done it occasionally when she had an itch. She reminded herself not to let her guard down. He might be trying to look like a normal lion.
She went lower to the ground when he called out. 'Did he see her? What if he came looking for her?' she worried. After letting out a sigh she stood up so the grass no longer hid her. She would rather face her fears than be stuck hiding in the grass. With her head held up high, she walked over with grace to the lion.
"I am not scared of you." She said looking into his dark eyes. Her paws were shaking and as hard as she could, she could not get them to stop. She hoped he wouldn't notice them. "And I do not want to play. I am too mature to play games."

Zuberi watched as a female lion emerged through the plant life. He raised an eyebrow at her words for her action seemed to be different then what she was stating. "Why would I be scary? I'm not scared either." He beamed out a smile as he sat himself down where he had been standing and tilted his head in a friendly gesture of welcome. He thought it would be best to make her come to him. He learned this idea from another cub he had met a while ago and it seemed to work.
"Mature?" He blinked his eyes in shock not understanding what was so wrong or not-mature enough to play games. " I see adults play games all the time when they think they are alone. Like hide and seek or who can jump the farthest. I'm Zuberi'obi by the way! You can call me Zuberi or Obi if you want though."

'He seems nice enough…' Ak-kila thought as she walked closer. He didn't seem to be liked the possessed lion that was in the story she was told. "Well I've never seen adults play around." She said with her nose in the air. If adults did play games that would mean she could have played games this whole time. She could not handle that if it was true, so she decided to ignore that fact.
"My name is Ak-kila. It is nice to meet you." The last part she said almost forced. She walked closer to him so that she was right in front of him. Her legs had stopped shaking. She examined him quickly to make sure there wasn't anything odd about him. He looked a lot like her brothers, she decided. "So where are you heading? You've been acting rather peculiar since I started stalking you."

Zuberi found his eyebrow rise at her nose-raising and inwardly thought that was a bit attitudey coming from one the same age as him. He was getting the impression that she didn't really want to make talk nor be around him. "No where in particular Akki. Just wandering around hoping something will come to me dudette." He swang his tail around in boredom. Then the rest of her words kinda hit him. 'Stalking?' He mouthed silently with wide eyes and nearly laughed. This femmie sure had an interesting why about her and the touch of naiveness was kinda sweet. Kinda like his sisters yet not.
"'was thinking about searching around for some food to eat. Some breakfast would be nice, then I may go help my father or mother with improving our home. Like make it bigger since all of us, I have four other siblings, have grown. OR I may just go swimming in the water and bathe in the sun. I love doing that. What are you up too?"

Her stomach growled when Zuberi mentioned breakfast. Ak-kila looked away from Zuberi, a bit embarrassed. She hated when her stomach growled around others. It made her feel less proper. "I think I might need to get some breakfast too…" she muttered. "I don't really want to go hunting though."
She looked back at him when he asked her what she was up to. 'What am I up to?' she asked herself. She couldn't just say she was spying on him. Than again she did just confess that she was stalking him, she reminded herself. "Well I was going on an… adventure? Yea I um. Was looking for some buried treasure." She lied. As she spoke she remembered how horrible she was at coming up with lies. She just hoped she wouldn't look more suspicious now.

A smile crossed his face when the mentioning of food made her stomach growl which in turn his stomach growled back in answer. He laughed out loud finding it funny for some reason. " Our stomachs are communicating and I don't mind finding us something to munch on. Anything in particular you want Akki? Fruits? Veggies? Or something on the meater side?" He asked her curious to what she would want to eat. He was up for anything really, but sometimes hunting could be a real pain in the pa-tuy (butt). His eyes widened in awe not really catching the fact that what the female said was a lie. How cool was that! Looking for treasure sounded like a great adventure. " Is there room for one more on this adventure of yours? Sounds better than hanging around the watering hole being bored for the rest of the day."

Ak-kila really wanted gazelle. It was her favorite meal and she loved it when her mother would come home with a freshly caught gazelle. She wasn't too sure if two youths could catch one though. Perhaps if they teamed up they could. "Well I like gazelles. They are my favorite to eat. Do you think we could catch one or are they to fast?" She hadn't hunted gazelle yet and wasn't sure how hard they were to catch.
She watched Zuberi's eyes widened. She didn't even think about what she should do if he liked adventures. Couldn't she had picked another thing to lie about! "This treasure is super secret. It was hidden by the gods a very long time ago. I will let you go with me as long as you promise not to tell anyone about it." Ak-kila blurted out quickly. She was thinking fast. Adding this little lie could give her sometime to think of her next move.

Zuberi pondered the possibility of two of them taking down something better than them. "Well, I suppose we can try dudette? I mean we totally should give it a shot and if it don't work out then atleast we tried you know? Plus there is a back up plan." He winked at her with a charming smile while using his tail as a fan, it was the dessert and sooo hot. " We can search for fruit as well as water, I'm kinda thirsty too."
"Sweet! That settles that then! And no worries Akki I won't breath a word to anyone." He used his paw to drag across his mouth in a 'zip it, lock it, and throw away the key' motion. " Well! How about we head out to see if any gazelle are about. Do you know the way? Or do you wanna walk about and see what comes up?"

Ak-kila nodded her head. A nice cool drink sounded good. She felt herself grow warm in her cheeks when Zuberi winked at her. It must be because of the sun, she told herself. She looked around to see if she could spot a good for gazelle. "Why don't we check out one of the oasis first? That way we can cool off." She defiantly wanted to splash some cool water on her face. The warmth in her cheeks was starting bothering her.
Akki? It was the third time he called her that. If it was possible her cheeks started to warm up even more. No one ever bothered giving her nicknames other than brat. She couldn't help but grin when he spoke Akki. "I think the closest oasis is this way. It shouldn't take us too long to get there." Ak-kila pointed away from the sun with her paw. She decided while they were out searching for food and water that she could keep an eye out for some treater. Maybe if she was lucky she could find some right away.

"Sure! Sounds like a good idea!" He grinned and began to follow Akki's lead. " I will follow your lead and that sounds good. The sooner the better, dude it is so hot out right now!" When they had finally reached the area Obi looked around happily and that began to spend the day swimming and playing in the sun. The only time they stopped was to eat and afterwards a walk. It was nearly the end of the day when they both began to yawn from all the activity. Obi told Akki that he was going to his resting area for the night and that he would see her tomorrow. He was happy to have gained a new friend to hang around with and spend his time goofin' around.
END.
