A soft mewling yawn could be heard inside the cave. Followed by two more, Arcelia and her siblings were waking up after a long rest during the day. But unlike her siblings who went back to sleep seeing that it was still night, Arcelia shook herself awake. This was her favourite time; night. The sky was dotted with millions of lights that her mama had called 'stars'.
Startled when a loud sound behind broke her of her thoughts, she turned around and giggled. ' Boy daddy does snore so loud.' Deciding that she wanted to go out for a minute to get a drink, she kissed her mama and daddy's cheeks as a loving gesture before moving out. " So thirsty!"

Nisha stood in the green grass for a few minutes before falling onto her back. It was at times like these that truly made you feel greatful to be alive. The stars seemed to be shining extra bright for some reason, not that she was complaining. It made it easier to see things, that was for sure.
Her eyes began to droop, the busy day finally coming at her full tilt. She knew laying here wasn't exactly safe, but at the moment she really didn't care. Thats what her claws were for; protection. A faint sound of a whimper made her ear twitch in the direction of the watering hole. She moved her head towards the sound. " A child at this time of night?"

Arcelia had been walking, well dancing in her case, for some time when she finally arrived at the river. Almost out of breath, she complained inwardly. ' Why does the water have to be so far away!' Bending her head down she took a drink of the cool and crisp water. Once she had her fill, she looked up once more. The river itself was calm and there were faint sounds of crickets in the air.
She turned her back on the water after a while and started for home.... only to realize that she could not remember the way. Whimpering she look at the now scarier forest around her.

Listening even harder at the sound, she nodded at her assumption. It was a child, alone by the sounds of it. She was angry at such irresponsible parenting. Making up her mind she got up and made her way towards the sound, cautious though as it could be a trick. Hyena's loved playing those kinds of things before they attacked.
Slowing down Nisha peered out of the bush to see an interesting lone cub. Tilting her head she took in the interesting star-like patterns on the cubs fur. " There, there little one. Its okay, what's wrong? Where is your family?" She tried to speak softly and non-threatenling as she could, but she had scared the cub anyways. The cub jumped and now faced her, Nisha had seen nothing like it, a hybrid... but what kind she did not know.

Arcelia almost gave up and cried. Usually when that happened daddy came right away, but she had left home without telling anyone so... Her internal thought was interrupted by another female voice. Arcelia jumped and looked at the other female all scared like. Her white eyes taking in the dark coloring of the adult lion. She was about to run off again when her eyes connected with orange ones. The looked like mama's eyes almost, the kindness was there and she found her self winding down.
" H-hello," Arcelia called out shyly. "I am lost, I went to get a drink a-and I can not find my way home." Tears filled her eyes at the helpless feeling of not finding home. " Can you help me please? Mama and daddy don't know I left to get a drink."

Sadden, she listened to the cub speak. " Do not worry little one I will help you get to your parents." Nisha moved closer and used her giant paw to pat the cubs head. " My name is Nisha, it means night." She tried for some cheery conversation to calm the cub down, but by the looks of things it would seem the cub had already calmed.
" Come follow me," She opened her mouth to scent the air. "I believe you came from this way." She used her head to point in the direction of the open forest, near the mountains.

Arcelia gave one last sniffle before responding to Nisha. " That's a pretty name." She looked at the black female. " My name is Arcelia, it means 'altair of the sky' or so my mama says." Arcelia got up from sitting on the grass and began to follow the adult female to where she assumed was home. " This looks familiar Ni'ha, I remember that tree stump 'cause it looks like a warthog." She giggled at the word 'warthog', it was such a silly name.

" Oh what a lovely name and meaning!" Nisha turned around to look at the young girl cub now known as Arcelia. It sure was a lovely night, so if a cub were to get lost... it definately would be this night. No rain or storms, just a clear diamond lit sky.
The forest was getting less and less tree heavy as the both made their way onward. " It shouldn't be much farther now I smell a... lion and... a jaguar?" She blinked, what an interesting combindation.

Arcelia giggled, " That would be mama and papa... and my brothers!" She eagerily wiggled her tail at the thought of almost being home! " Mama is a lion and my daddie is a jaguar! He's like a rainbow, he has so many colored dots on his fur. My two brothers are just like me!." She frowned before saying. " Some call us mistakes, but daddy and mama get so angry when they say that. I don't understand, if you dont have nothin' nice to say... then don't say anything at all!"

Listening and walking at the same time Nisha was angry on behalf of Arcelia as well as her family. Some people can be so cruel and immature. " I believe the term is 'hybrid' since you are both lion and jaguar. And you are right, if you don't have anything nice to say then keep your mouth shut." She winked down at Arcelia causing the cub to giggle in delight.
" Look, we are here and it would seem you have very worried family members out and about." She used her head to point in the direction of the very worried parents outside the family cave. The cub gave a cry of delight before thanking Nisha and running off to her mama and papa.
Smiling Nisha watched them greet their lost daughter and before she left the father raised his head to give Nisha a nod of thanks.
END.
