It had been some time now, living in Peke’Na had been the right thing in her life. Her new home that she had found a few weeks back still needed fixing but that was okay because Ancientheart didn’t mind the hard labour. She knew it would be worth it when it was fixed and completed. Tribalwind had been kind enough to allow Isabis to stay a little longer than planned, but Tri kept trying to tell her that she did not mind the company. Wiggling the sleep from her body she made her way out to her semi-fixed home and stopped over at the fruit plants nearby. Sniffing the air she knew she was getting closer to her territory, and that made her tail waggle in happiness. It was always nice to have a place of one’s own. A small grimace came upon her face when she came closer to her den.
The sight caused her to sigh in frustration. “ Oh those bloody small creatures coming here and ruining all my and Tribalwind’s hard work!” She growled in frustration at the sight of look boards, dirt clumps everywhere, and plant leaves ripped carelessly all over the place. Shaking her head she walked closer and noticed her little troublemakers. “ Hey! Ooooh, go ahead run! Just you wait until I get you!” Though frustrated she was a little amused at their attempts, often males were known to tease the one they liked. She had a hunch those little trouble starters did this to show their affection and to push her buttons as well.
With a swipe of her tail she headed back inside her half finished cave and had a look around. Ancientheart let out one last sigh before she began to move things around and dug little sink holes for resting areas. She popped outside every once in a while to push lumps and unwanted items out of her home. Breathing the fresh air for a few minutes she enjoyed every minute of this experience, yes it was tiring but she felt right for the first time in her life. A sound caught her ears, barking and howling was heard in the faint distance. Tilting her head she howled her own greeting and paused for a few minutes as the distant howling seemed to have been silenced by her. Frowning she wanted for what seemed like minutes before the howling was back again and it would seem more had joined the original howler. Closing her eyes she took in the sounds of all around her and smiled humming.
Her inner thoughts were interrupted by the sound of her stomach growling and she laughed at the sound. “ Alright, alright. I hear you and will feed you.” She walked back inside her den and went to her feeding corner. Once there she begun to dig up her food and after a few minutes the fruits became clearer. Picking up the food and wandered away to the watering hole to clean off the fruit. She wrinkled her nose at the thought of dirt grit fruit, which she was currently feeling at the moment. The good thing about her place was that it was really close to the watering hole, so it did not take her long to get there.
The smell of musk and wetness hovered in the air, it gave an indication she would be at the watering hole soon and yes she was correct. There in front of her was semi-small sized pool of water; the color was crystal clear with one or two trees leaning over the water. Isabis spit out the gritty fruit and wrinkled her nose in distaste as the feel of dirt lingered on her tongue which was currently stuck out. She hurried over stuck her head in to the water and lapped up the cool wetness. Once she was satisfied she turned her head and rolled her fruit with her nose over to the water. The ‘plop’ and ‘splash’ echoed the area.
Isabis watched as they first floated and the sunk to the rocky bottom of the shallow end of the watering hole. Dipping her paw inside the semi-cool water she pushed the fruit back and forth while watching the dirt particles floated away. Once she knew they were cleaned enough, she dunked her head into the refreshing water and started to eat the sweet and delicious fruit. Once done she licked her lips content before once more looking at the water as if deciding to go in or not. Finally after some internal debate she backed up before running full tilt to the water and leaping quite a distance. When she landed in the water, it nearly took her breath away and when she surface she laughed breathlessly. It felt wondering after spending most of her morning cleaning up her home.
A little humming pleased sound broke away from her throat as she floated along the water. Her ears flicked every now and then when unfamiliar sounds appeared around her territory but it turned out that it was just the smaller animals nesting or gathering food for themselves. If she was in the water any longer she would become water logged, but she was loathed to leave. A few strokes later her decision was made for her as the watering hole became somewhat busier. Swimming to the edge, Ancientheart climbed back on to shore to find a good sun bathing area. After a few minutes of looking, she came upon a rock to rest on. It wasn’t too hot, it was perfect and if she could purr she would have at the feel of the warmth raiding of the rock and sun. Pretty soon her fur began to dry off and the wet smell was whisked off into the breeze. A sound awoke her from her slight doze, she opened her eyes and realized how much darker it had gotten.
She shook herself off before heading back to her den. She smiled as she nested down into her favourite place in the world, it had been a wonderful day and it would be a wonderful night as well now that she had her own home to rest in.
END.
