Wyn’tr was bored, so bored in fact that it had come down to this. Just sitting and staring out in to the wilderness. What happened to the days when at this time of day she would be out and about with her pack members. She felt a slow burn in the region of her heart and she shook it off both mentally as well as physically. The past was past, it was best to focus on the future. For once during her travels it wasn’t raining and that she was somewhat grateful. A flash of memory of a pink lioness brought her to a stop for a moment; it had been sometime since she had seen said lioness and yet she remembered. Those memories lead her to thinking about her father and brought some of the sadness back.

“One step in the right direction~” Wyn sung out lightly as she moved forward. “One step…just one…-” A noise broke through and disrupted the next verse.

Starga’e was venturing more and more from home, it seemed the more she aged the more home wasn’t really home for her. She felt like an adult trapped in a cub’s body and she wanted out. She wanted to see new things and do new things. “Oh why hello there…” Starga’e bent down and peeked into the dirt hill. Two small eyes peered out from the darkness, then four, and then six. “Oh you have babiEEESS…” That was the first time ever she had raised her voice, but this occasion called for it. Apparently mama whatever she was DID NOT appreciate a lioness, such as herself, coming around her home and talking to her babies as well as herself.

“Huh,” Wyn shrugged before continuing on her way. “Guess it was my imagination.” Wyn looked around wearily at least she hoped it was imagined… one could never be TOO careful on one’s own. She shook her head at her over active imagination. “What to do, what to do.” She sighed and dodged a hidden rut in the ground and it would suck if she fell into one of those. Wyn had traveled a lot recently and the more she wandered the more restless she was becoming. Not to mention lonely. A lone wild dog or wolf, it wasn’t easy but Peke’Na really hadn’t been for her to live.

Starga’e ran fast and far enough that sand become grass. When she came to a full stop she looked around while panting heavily. “Where am I…now?” Pale eyes took in her surroundings for a moment before she plopped her butt down to rest. “Water wo-” She cleared her throat absently talking to herself as well as the land causing a strange echo effect. “-would be nice right about now.”

Wyn’tr decided to take a break from walking. “Enough. No more. Break time.” By the growl coming from her lower region, her stomach agreed and she sniffed the air in hopes that something was close enough or easy enough to capture. “Mmm, rabbit.” She licked her chops at the thought of eating well tonight. Wait—not one or two but it smelled like multiple rabbits. “Wow, I’ve hit the jackpot!” She groaned as she stood and tried to shake off the tiredness of her bones. “Rest soon, soon Wyn’tr. Food and then sleep. Glorious sleep.”

Drip. Drip. Drip. Starga’e watched as the water fell from her lip back into the river. It certainly was a lovely sound… almost relaxing or calming. She peered at herself in the water’s reflection blankly, it seemed like she had been young for so long. She often wondered what she would look like as a full adult, but then reality came crashing down. It was best not to get one’s hopes too high. So lost in thought she didn’t realize a shadow covered her back. It wasn’t until a face appeared above that she screamed and got her claws out for an attack.

Wyn’s ears flickered forward at the sound of falling water. “Huh?” She looked around too distracted by the sound to hunt the rabbits. She cautiously lowered down to the ground, belly almost touching the ground, moving at a slow crawl. “Oh.” Wyn gasped in shock once she was close enough. It was a cub, a lion one and she was—quickly she looked around in case. Alone, the cub was alone.
“Hell-OW.” Wyn whined out as the claws of the cub scratched her nose and then she let out a growl at the pain. “Hey! That wasn’t very nice!” She snarled down at the cub before pulling back at the scared look on its face. “Uh… I’m just—well I..” She stumbled through an answer. “I just wanted to say hello.” She finished lamely. “I guess you didn’t hear me when I first spoke.”

Starga’e felt her eyes burn and start to water. She really tried to stop the falling of tears but the other female had startled her quite badly. “O-oh… no I didn’t hear you at all.” Her little heart going a mile-a-minute and took a deep breath to calm both her heart as well as her nerves. “What do you want?” The question was spoken nastily but shakily.

“Nothing--” Wyn’s eyes widened once more surprised by the question being asked to her. “I-I just… I was just trying to catch a meal and possibly have a sip of water for the chase. ” Wyn didn’t move any closer as it was obvious she was making the cub feel threatened. And yes she was as she watched as the cub backed up towards the opposite direction.

Starga’e narrowed her eyes and pawed at the ground. “Sorry about your nose… but you really shouldn’t have surprised me. It wasn’t very nice.” She could tail the other was sorry by the drooping of tail and ears. “I think I should go… I hear my mom calling me.” It was a lie but really this situation was making her feel uncomfortable. “Bye.”

“Uh yes well…” She awkwardly spoke. “Bye? …Bye.” Wyn sighed as the word not even left her mouth and the cub had disappeared. She turned towards the water’s edge. Alone once more and didn’t that seem fitting? Ah well, there will another time for company.
