"Oh mister sun~ Sun mister golden sun~" Daktari sang out with his deep voice of his, which was odd hearing such a childish tune spring forth from such a tone. "Please shine down on meee~" He crooned the last part out before pounding down the dirt path sending dust clouds up into the air in his wake. This went on for some time before bored slowly began to strike and he found himself slowing down to a trot instead of running. "What to do~ What to do~" He flicked his tail to the left and watched as white fuzzies flew in the air.
Flowers were such pretty and delicate things. He blinked and turned away from the floating fluffs in the sky to continue down the path. Maybe some... "Swimming?" He thought the last part out loud. "Maybe I could make a new friend in the watering hole!" He brightened up by that aspect and lumbered down the dirt path with a plan in action.

Lakonale was heading down to the watering hole. It was still daylight out, though late afternoon. She usually wasn't one to be up so early but she had decided to get up early because she was on a mission. That mission was to find a lion to have leopons with. She knew that water attracted an assortment of creatures and lions would probably be there.
It was while she was heading to the watering hold that she heard singing in a deep voice. Curious, she stopped in her tracks and looked behind her, ears perked. There was the sound of paws. Was he coming towards her? She was sure it was a him because she had never met a girl with a voice that deep.

Daktari had been lumbering at a good speed but when he got the scent of water wavering in his nose... well he began to move even faster. "Swimmin'~" He muttered under his breath and it was at the last second that he realized something was blocking his path. He was going to quickly to stop and if he did then he would stumbled right into whatever was in his way. So he opted to jump over and tuck'n'roll right... into the watering hole.
He flondered for a minute in the water before surfacing to the top. "Ack!" He spat out the warm liquid and twirled around to see what had done this to him. He blinked mismatched as at the sight before him. It was a baby leopardess with the most- "Beautiful!" coat he'd ever seen! He just wanted to cuddle her to death. "Eee so cute!" He smiled goofily.

Lakonale frowned as she realized that the sound of the paws was going at a rather fast speed. The next thing she knew, a huge male lion with pink and black splotches was leaping over her. Her eyes followed him as her rolled right into the water. That was a close one. Then the reality of the situation sunk in and she burst into giggles.
He was a funny one. Lakonale grinned in childlike happiness when he called her beautiful and cute. "You think?" Her voice was much higher than his. She hopped up and down on her paws in excitement at finding a lion so easily.

Daktari blinked and felt a full out grin cross his face as he continued to tread the water coming closer. "Yup! I like cute things! I was thinkin' 'bout swimmin'..." He didn't really consider the inappropriateness of the situation. Daktari a much older male and her a very much younger female. "I'm Daktari, wanna play? What's your name?" In some way's he was still very much that of a cub. "My favourite part is climbing up the rocks and just running off into the water. Where are your mom and dad, do they want to join us?" He tilted his head in inquiry. "Oh! How about your friends? " He ducked under the water to smooth out his mane and to get it out of his face so seeing was easier.

Lakonale could not hide her excitement now. Not only had she found a lion that could give her leopons to play with but he was also a fun one to be around. Most of the older ones didn't like to play. "I love to play!" She listened to him explain how he would jump into the water. "That sounds like fun! I've never done that before." Her tail was swishing back and forth and she had a huge smile stretched across her maw.
When he asked about her family and friends, she pointed behind her with a paw. "They are that way and relaxing." She did wish her family was here though to have fun with them. Prancing a bit, she moved closer to the waters edge, her paws splashing in the shallows. "Can we also make babies together?" Her question came straight out with no sign of joking at all, just an expectant smile.

"Awesome! We will have loads of fun~ Oh maybe they can come later and play~" Daktari enthused at the prospect of finding a little one to be his buddy. He loved children in a buddy way--He blinked hard... Had he heard correctly. "Huh? B-babies?! It's all so sudden. I don't think- I mean really? I don't even-" He squeaked and sputtered before giggling nervously like some embarassed blob of gubbermale. "Aren't you the cutest thing! But tut tut you are way to young." Daktari pulled the young leopardess into a giant hug and he wondered if he could keep her just on the cutest aspect alone. The thought of... He shuddered. Too young for him.. "L-let- um follow me~! The cliff is this way~Bet I can beat you!"
He plopped her down as gently as he could before standing up and wiggled his butt at the anticipation of a race. "On the count of threeeee~ ONE. TWO." He paused before shouting "THREEEE. Last one there is a rottin' plant!!" Then he took off trying to loop as fast as he could, which wasn't so much as fast as loud.

Lakonale blinked up at him when he acted so very weird at the mention of babies. It was just a simple question. How hard was it to answer with a yes or no? She frowned a bit but the smiled again when he hugged her. She snuggled her face into his fur in a very cub-like manner.
When he put her down she followed suit and her butt was up in the air in anticipation of three. He was off first but noisy and easy to follow. If his legs were not so much more longer than hers, she probably would keep up. As it was, her little legs were going as fast as she could. Oh, she had forgotten to tell him her name. Maybe that was why he acted so funny when she asked about babies. Who would wanna have babies with a leopard they didn't know the name of? Her answer was no one. So she waited till they reached the cliff and said rather loudly, "I'm Lakonale."

"Oh! What a lovely name!" Daktari smiled as the stopped at the edge of the small cliff to pat her on the head with affection. "Nice to meetcha Lakonale my friend! Are you ready for some fun times? How about we jump at the same time? More fun that way~" He crinkled his nose at the prospect of jumping into the water that wasn't too far down. "Here we GO~!" He wiggled his butt and bounced off landing with a giant splash that soaked the flowers on land. He came up from the water to squirt out the liquid in his mouth. "Woo~ not too cold huh?" He turned over to Lakonale as he floated along the gentle current.

Lakonale had never met an older lion that was as energetic as she was. Soon enough she was caught up in his antics. As soon as he jumped, she jumped in after. Her little paws stroked through the water to go back near him. "Your so much fun Daktari!" She dove under the water and then came back up. The water didn't feel too bad considering the heat of the sun had been on it all day. Without missing a beat, she told him, "I won't be little forever. When I'm older can we make leopons?" She really wanted him to say yes. He was way more fun than the other males she had met.

"Thanks!" He lightly batted some water in the leopards direction. "That's what life should be about: having fun." He paused at her next question and thought about her offer. "I would Lakonale, but I don't think I'm the right one for you!" He winked. "When you meet that someone, you just know... or so my mom always told me. For now let's just swim and worry about babies later!" And with that he drove under water, swam around pretending to be a motorboat while pulling Lakonale along in the water. They spent the whole morning there and his energy was beginning to wane.
"Come on out of the water now," He let out a little yawn as he shook off little droplets that still clung to his fur. "I think we can both use a little nap or cuddle now." He pulled Lako close to his side once she was onland and began to purr as it tended to do when happy or sleepy.
