Walking steadily along the dry dirt path, Kiros swatted at bugs every now and then if they got to close to his face. It was quiet today for some reason, which meant boring. It had been quiet and down right boring for DAYS now. With emerald green eyes keeping a looking out for danger, he let his mind wander. ' Mmmm, I am so hungry! Maybe I should wander near the zebra herd, see if I can chase me some lunch.'He didn't realize at the time, that fate was about to hook him up with a small, annoying and righteous bast- um maned dog. Fate could be funny like that.

" Honestly! Why must I always get myself in these predicaments!" Apollodoros yelped when one wild dog got to close to his hind leg. It was only this morning he was minding his own business, when two wild dogs had come at him and decided he would make a good meal rather than company. " Barbarians!" He yelled down at the two in question. " I know some lions that would come teach you such a lession! A lesson in pain! You're lucky they are busy or-!" His only response back was snickering which caused Apollo to frown in displeasure. Truth was he didn't really know anyone that could help him at this point. His only hope was for the two bafoon to get bored and walk away.

Pausing Kiros could have sworn he heard laughter and frightened yelps in the air. At first he thought he was hearing things. But the closer he got, the louder the sounds became. ' Sounds like someone in trouble, man that is the one thing I can't stand! Picking on the weak and defenseless.' Picking up his pace, Kiros made it over the lip of the medium-sized hill to behold a site that made his fur stand up and claws extend.
Two black wild dogs were bitting and clawing at a tree trunk, with a maned dog clinging for life on a solid branch that looked like it was about to snap off. Kiros let out a loud angry roar, so loud that one of the wild dogs wet himself badly before they both took off. A quiet snuffle was heard from above. " You can come down now. I chased them away, idots. " Kiros snorted at some creatures stupidity. Yeah sure he liked to clown around and cause some trouble BUT he would NEVER hurt or pick on someone that was smaller than him or someone who could not defend themselves.

Heart racing, breath shallow, Apollodoros looked down at his would be saviour. " You have got to be kidding me! I appreciate the rescue but you are more deadly then those two mongre-" A sharp crack interrupted his words and with a startled yelp, Apollodoros was falling. It was over in seconds and when he came too, he found himself sprawled onto of his rescuer. Grumpy words of 'Do you mind! Get off!' were heard from the multi-colored leopard.
Apollodoros scrambled to get off and cursed when he found each time he did, limbs would get stuck. " Sorry, sorry! Hold still! You are making this harder on both of us!" A few grunts and shuffling were heard before both were free.

'Some thanks I get.' Kiros thought a little annoyed. ' Ouch, I think my front leg is hurt when he feel on me.' Kiros moved his wrist around, frowning when a sharp pain was felt. " Do you mind! Get off!" After a few minutes of detangling themselves, Kiros slowly stood and looked down. The white and gold maned dog was an interesting little guy. Always in movement, Kiros watched as the maned dog pace back and forth. Prickly little thing too, attitude wise.
" My name is Kiros, sorry we met on horrible terms." Kiros limped over to the water to get rid of the swelling. Cold water felt wonderful on swelling body parts.

Apollodoros watched Kiros head to the water to bathe his left arm in semi-boredom. Now that the danger was gone, he felt calmer and more secure. " Sorry about the landing.. was really out of my control. Nice to meet you ol' chap, my name is Apollodoros. Name after the sun gods." He puffed his chest out, all proud-like with his eyes closed. If they had been opened, he would have noticed Kiros 'This guy for real?' look.
" I was on my way to a locate feeding ground when I was spotted by a wild dog gang. You chased the last two off, the others got bored a while ago." Apollodoros cleared his throat. " Yes well... care to join me to eat? Uh-AH! I mean as friends." He awkwardly paused before continuing. " I haven't had a bit of company in a very long time I'm afraid. I tend to scare them off with my constant babbling because I do enjoy a good cha-"

Kiros watched the getting-annoying creature babble non-stop for a few minutes before he interrupted. " RELAX! Breathe dude! Apollod-" He was having a hard time pronoucing so he decided a nickname was best. " I'll stick with Apollo. Sun god? Hm, interesting. My name means 'king' which I love, my father gave me that name, well from what I can remember." Kiros moved to sit but stopped once that stream of babble caught up with him. " Eat? Yeah, I could go for something to munch on little dude. Lead the way, all this talk is making me starving."

Apollo watched the feline, no one had ever given him a nickname before. It was sort of nice, that he was included into some friendship ritual for once. "Right yes of course. Please follow me, this way and watch your step. Some of other species around here enjoy causing others to fall upon traps." Apollodoros walked on ahead, scanning the ground for hidden holes or tricks. Some creatures were so possessive of their feeding grounds. Snout to the ground, Apollodoros could also smell the zebra up ahead. His stomach gave a loud growl and he blushed. " Apologies, it has been awhile since I last ate. Almost there, just over this ridge. Would you like to do the honors or shall I?"

Kiros had smelt the zebra a while ago but he didn't want to say anything to make his new friend feel inferior. " Ah, I see. Good news then! Sure, I should be able to take atleast one animal down. " Kiros crouched and got into hunting position. Sure females were the ones that mostly hunted but when one lived on their own, you had to learn quickly if you wanted to survive. " Wait here, should be back soon." As soon as those words were uttered, Kiros sprang up and dashed out into the open. His body gaining speed with every minute passing until finally he took down a lone zebra in mid jump.

Apollodoros listened to Kiros' instructions with a nod and sat down in the sparsly grassed area. " Alright, goodluck. " He said with a sharp nod. He hoped that Kiros wouldn't forget about him and eat the zebra himself and come back for desert aka Apollo. Minutes seemed like hours, sitting in the hot sun was getting to Apollo and was beginning to think he had been abandoned. One a sudden movement came from the high weeds. Kiros' voice rang out and than suddenly Kiros appeared dragging the dead carcass. With a waggle of his tail and an excited yip Apollodoros ran closer to feast.
" Thanks mate. I think this is the beginning of a wonderful friendship!"
