User Image Isabis was exhausted, but it was a happy exhaustion if that made any sense. It was many days ago since she had her three pups and she was in need of a break period. She was very lucky that one of the tribal elders said they would watched them for a few hours. Isabis of course trusted the elder, she would never let anyone handle her kin if she didn't. Sometimes it was nice to walk around, talk to those her age, and dig dens for the good of the pack. Just thinking of digging made her laugh as she recalled as one of her children tried to dig but ended up playing in the mud rather than digging, they were pups after all. Such good and wonderful memories.

Ancientheart nodded her head to one of the locals that was currently cleaning their den before continuing towards the boarderlands to get something sweet that her children would like to eat. She was sure of it, as she recalled them enjoying the sweet treat the last time she got it.

The robust female wasn't particularly sure where she was at the moment, but the state of the 'forest' she'd seen from a distance was enough to tempt her ever closer to quench her curiousity and also hopefully find a source of water for her physical thirst aswell. Although she had to say, the fact this forest looked mostly skeletal, even in the light of the moon as she sniffed and snorted the undergrowth testingly, the smell of ancient charcoal intermingling with fresh seeds that had barely even chosen to burn or blossom yet.
What on earth was this place?

Pausing at a particular tree, the smell of another wild dog prompted a small 'hrm' from her as she went back to investigate curiously, another rogue? Possibly...a pack? Maybe.
Knowing her luck it'd be some rabid pack. The thought didn't thrill her and she shook her thick head, dust shaking free of the scruff of fur that lay heavy around her neck and ears flopping dully against her head as she chose to investigate further. Heavy paws kicking up dirt as she paid more attention to the new smells, completely unaware of the figure heading in her direction.

Before she knew it day had turned to evening and the moon was coming up into the sky casting a spookish glow over the lands. Ancientheart knew she would have to hurry back to the heart of PekeNa soon as her children would be worried and/or scared without her during nightrest. Moments later she sighed happily when she finally spotted what she had come all this way for; berries. Carefully she moved over and began to break the branch taking most of the berries from the bush.

Suddenly just as she was about to turn around and head back towards home a snap broke the silence. Pausing and cautiously looking around she waited not moving a muscle. She did not want to alter the stranger to her position, so she waited to see if the one who made those noise would come out of the darkness. She would wait a moment after all the noise could have been caused by a small night-animal wandering around looking for food or enjoyment.

With the moon overcasting the trees, it made it seem like the shadows were clawing at the very ground whilst the cold air only intensified that creepy factor, making the female rather on edge as she explored the land further whilst. Than the snap.
It had just broke the silence out of nowhere and she blinked, ears sat high atop her head as she froze on the spot, watching the dark trees melt into the sapphire blue sky whilst listening out. Waiting to see if the noise would happen again. It was an animal.
That was all, just a small animal foraging or something...but the smell of other dogs earlier had made her uneasy feeling turn into a twisting that ached her belly ever so slightly whilst she took a tentative step. And another.

"...Hello?..." It was a small call at first, just to test the waters so to say before she took a soft breath. Ending up snorting faintly as some dust entered her nose and allowed her the discomfort of a sneeze or two before she called out again.
Hoping that something would atleast answer back.
"Hello? Anybody out here?"

Slowly she dropped the berries she carried in her mouth and listened quietly. Suddenly the sound of a soft, at first, feminine voice made her relax somewhat. " Hello?" Ancientheart spoke as well and was rewarded with a snort or sneeze she couldn't tell. Taking a semi-deep breath she wander what was out in the dark. Canine as well as female she had been right. Ancientheart moved closer to the voice and then sat down in a patch of moonlight. She did not want to get too close to the unknown danger, she did have little ones to think about.

"Yes," She answered back. "Come forth to the light stranger and tell me what brings you to PekeNa lands."She waited to hear the others intentions before she judged the other as enemy or made a break to alert the elders as well as the pack.

Thankfully, she got a reply. Blinking blearily in the moonlight at the voice before she tentatively stepped closer, curiousity tugging at her ruthlessly as she tried to make her large, lumbering paws atleast tread somewhat delicately upon the ground until her nose caught the scent of the other. For the most part she was relieved for it to be another female, not that she minded males but they just confused her a great deal at times with their mannerisms.
Following the scent, she finally stopped a good five feet away from the other when she finally laid eyes on the other dog and blinked in surprise. She'd never seen a red dog before. Nor a red dog with markings such as those....than again, nor had she heard of this 'PekeNa'.
But despite the other's confusion and surprise at all of them, Almasi tilted her large head and smiled, somewhat impishly at the other female.

"I'm sorry if you thought I was intruding, I was just exploring mostly...and trying to find something to drink." The plains had scarce water at times and it was hard to tell whether or not you'd find a pair of eyes staring at you from under the water's surface every time you went for a drink, so the thickly built female had used caution with her drinking.
Glancing briefly around at the environment before her eyes settled on the female again, keeping her wits with her incase somehow the other turned, she still continued to offer a gentle smile so the other wouldn't be put off by her.
"Are..you the pack leader?" She asked curiously.

She eyed the other female cautiously, and nodded once she was satisfied that she sensed no dangered. The other's words made her laugh, "Oh no, I am not the leader my dear but a den digger. I make sure the homes are kept in good condition as well am interchange of building or making new homes for the pack." Her eyes twitched this way and that listening to all the sounds around. "Have you traveled long? Come I will take you to the outskirts, there is a water source around there."

Isabis paused before turning around to make sure the other female was following her steps. "Come along and follow me I will take you there so you do not get lost but I mustn't be out too late. I have other responsiblities waiting for me at home." The thought of her pups brought a smile upon her fair face. " I am Ancientheart, it is my PekeNa name. I welcome you to these lands, as you can see not many are about right now. So it looks like it's just you and me for now."

Den digger? Huh. Sounded weird, weird but interesting weird at the same time and she couldn't help but tilt her head just a bit at the explanation of it all before nodding, sounded like a decent job for a dog of a pack and she couldn't help but feel a tad envious. On the subject of her travelling she couldn't help but let out a nervous chuckle.
Well...she was feeling a -little- parched, she had to admit and she gently scraped a paw against the ground in a slightly shy manner, which, was hillarious to see from such a large dog.

"Well, just a few miles everyday, I don't exactly have a pack to go home too so it's just been explore for me." Following the other she couldn't help but take in the sounds and smells of everything around her, this place looked amazing and she couldn't help but marvel slightly at it all.
When the other introduced herself she couldn't help but smile a little, that was an interesting name, nothing she'd ever really heard before but it made the wild dog curious to say the least as she tried to sidle up beside the other.
"Well thank you for such a warm welcome, miss Ancientheart, I don't have such a fancy name but you can call me Almasi."

The others actions brought a smile to her face, it reminded her of her Shaman when she put up a shy front to cover up the mischief she had caused. The smile was washed away by a frown when she heard the other didn't have a pack, a lone wolf didn't survive very long. "Well thank you, it is my wolf name. Every pack member must have one inorder to live among the Peke'Na lands. It is nice to meet you Almasi." She pronouced the others name slowly with somewhat of a difficulty names were not her fortay.

"It is a fine name, your name that is. If you were to join our rankings I would say." Ancientheart paused to think a bit while looking the other over. "That is if you would consider I think the name diamondeye would suit you, what do you think? You have such lovely eyes and the seem to gleam when the light hits upon them."

Diamondeye? Blinking she looked to the other for a moment, for one she was processing the name and the fact that she'd been asked to join the pack, or atleast given the option and she had to tilt her head ever so slightly. Join their ranks?
She'd never really been in a pack before, flickering memories of her young puphood flitted here and there in her mind but she doubted she'd stayed there very long because the memories were few and far between. So the thought of a pack now was both foreign and tantalising, the protection of a pack was always a good thing - especially with the better prospect of food and safe slumbering accomadations.

"Sounds...great! I mean, I'd love too if there's enough room..." She didn't exactly take up small spaces with the large bulk she had, but she was sure she could dig out as much as she needed if it came to that.
"Thank you, Ancientheart..." A small, thankful smile lit up the large females muzzle. She had a home now. Heh, this was pretty intoxicating.
