Faiza was beginning to feel lonely not many ventured in her area as of late, and it did not look like they were going to anytime soon. Her ears twitched this way and that from the different sounds around her; water falling, leaves rustling in the breeze, faint sounds of small creatures twittering to each other, etc. A large yawn suddenly escaped her mouth as her droopy eyes because to fall shut, boredom was fastly taking over her life... and she did not like it one bit! Shaking her head and standing up she gazed about trying to find something that would occupy her time.
“ What can one lonely lioness do..” She muttered allowed. “Oh! I know-” She had just thought of the most perfect idea when a faint mewling cry seemed to be coming from the edge of the waterfall. Well not edge per say more like the bottom corner where a hidden nook was located. She often went there to relax and listening to the sound of the water falling. Not wasting any time Faiza took off to investigate.

For Rinji the morning had started off marvellous, I mean who would not enjoy playing with siblings and basking in the attention of two wonderful parents? His mama was the goddess of herb lore and like his mama Rinji enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere of the hot springs. After a while he had gotten bored playing with his siblings and decided to explore a bit. He was feeling brave that morning and wanted to go on an adventure without his family coming with him, so with that thought in mind he went out and had gotten lost. Looking around in confused fear he took deep breaths to calm himself down, there was no point in getting hysterical... honest... whimper.
With a twitch of his ear Rinji picked up a familiar sound of falling water. A common sound from where his mother lived, and with that he took off towards the noise in hopes that he had found his way home. That is how he found himself at this point, stuck between two rocks. His poor paw had gotten wedged inbetween to thick rocks. Mewling he tried to pull it out but could not.

Faiza had just reached the end of the overhang when she spotted a small silver lump amid the rocks. Blinking in shock she took in what appeared to be a cub, the poor dear had some how had gotten wedged quite firmly. “ Oh dear, you poor thing!” She spoke soothingly as to not startle the other too bad. “ Let’s see if we can get you out of there!” She hurried over and began to think of a way that would be as quickly and as pain free as possible. Her sky blue eyes finally came across the perfect opening in which she could stick a claw in and flick the opening wider. She took in scared golden eyes of the young male before her. “It will be okay dear don’t you worry. On the count of three I am going make the gap bigger and you should be able to pull your paw out alright.” Faiza watched as the young cub nodded his head. “ Alright, one... two... three!” She grunted as the rock was stubbornly sticking in place, but after a few quick jiggles it became loose and she watched as the silver cub male pulled his paw out as quickly as he could. She watched him limp backwards and away from the rocks with a large frown upon his small face.

Frightened and panicked Rinji almost missed Faiza’s words but once they registered he felt his body calming down. Once those feelings began to take over he looked up at the adult lioness and felt the rocks or small boulders move. Quickly he pulled them out not wanting to have his paws in there another minute and he shuddered at the thought of being stuck forever.... or losing his paw in order to get free.
“ Thank you.” He spoke shyly and quietly, he really was grateful to be free. “ Do... can you help me? I’m so lost... I want to go home and see my mama and my daddy.” He felt his eyes water as images of his family came to him and he shook himself internally to get rid of the sad thoughts of being lost. He was also getting hungry, it had been sometime since he had last eaten anything.

Faiza nearly felt like crying along with Rinji... poor dear was so lost and scared. She could see it in his little expressive eyes, it didn't matter that he had put up a front when they first met she knew had must feel scared. "Oh please darling you needn't worry Faiza will make it better and help you find your way home." She clicked her tongue as she nodded her head before leaning over to nuzzle cub. "And what is your name by the way?" Faiza tried to make light conversation as to get the cubs mind of his ordeal.
She began to nudge the cub towards the lip of the forest, it would be dark soon and she had a feeling the mother or father would be worried sick and looking for their cub. " Do you know which way you came from? Does anything look familiar at all?" The questions were asked upbeatly as not to feed the child's fear.

Faiza. He liked the older females name and he found himself calming down. He sensed a goodness within this kind stranger and knew she would help him. `Rinji.` He mumbled out and when he saw her confused look he continued on. `Rinji is my name, I thought I would share since you gave me yours and thank you for helping me find my way home. I haven`t been this long away from home before.` He felt her nudge him towards the tall grass and listened to her ask questions before answering. `Well... no I dont remem- wait! I do! It was over that way towards that weepy-willo tree! I remember seein`it and thinking it was weird!`
He watched her nod her head before moving in that direction he gave out and he founded as fast as he could. Which in reality wasnt all that fast, I mean he WAS a cub after all. He found himself slowly tiring and caught himself yawning as the sky got darker with each step they took.

`Rinji.`She spoke aloud with affection clear in her voice. `Adorable name and willow tree it is then.` Faiza looked back every now and then noting the cubs steps getting slower and slower with each step he took. Shaking her head in humor she walked over and laid down to the ground. `Come, on to my back. It will make things quicker and easier for the journey. But it looks to me the journey will be short for now in order to rest. It is too late for travel anyways, we will have to find a cave or temporary home for now.`
She waited for a few minutes before a light gasp filled the air, one filled with exasperation, and then there was a weight upon her back. `Hold on tight.` She warned before getting up and moving her way through the tall grass, her eyes shining in the dark as she looked around for somewhere to nest for the night. `We will pick up on our journey when it is light out tomorrow.`

Rinji felt ashamed a little. Here he was a male and he needed aid from the opposite sex. Not that he was type of feline, he believed all females and males were equal. He... just didnt want to be a burden. He sighed before getting onto her back and settled when she said to hold on tight. Soon Faizas body motion were relaxing and he found himself drifting. Faizas words made him jump as he was nearly asleep, and once he figured out what she had said he nodded his agreement before yawning once more.
` That looks like a good place.` He used his tail to point and he nearly lost his footing when she turned her head to look at where he was pointing.

She felt the cub wibble before she caught his side with her tail to hold him steady. Then she looked to where he had pointed and found herself nodding. It looked stable and live-able for the night. `Yes that will do for us this night.` Faiza moved them towards the whole in the tree looking around the leafy ground. She took a deep breath taking in the scents of past animals that had lived here but appeared to have abandoned the home for sometime now. Slowly laying down she let out a happy sigh to be resting and yawned watching out of the corner of her eye as Rinji yawned too.

It took a few minutes to settle, I mean this female wasnt his mother afterall. Snuggling down even more he felt his eyes close as Faiza began to purr a lullaby. He was snoring in minutes, he couldnt recall how long he had been asleep but the sound of a very deep and angry growl woke him up. Almost like it was instinct he shouted out for his dad and when he looked up his fears were calmed but then an answering angered female growl was heard in reply.
"Faiza! Its okay it really is daddy! He found me!" Rinji stumbled over to his silent father and he could tell his papa had been worried by the frown and the emotions in his eyes. Then suddenly he was knocked over by a nuzzling and kisses. He squealed happily before he was picked up in his fathers mouth. " Thank you for helping me Faiza, I will miss you!" Rinji waved shyly watching as the female adult watched him and daddy. Yorath, his father, nodded his father in gratitude before leaving the area. He was going home and he was content with that news.
END.
