Hobbies:Fighting - Devyn is accustomed to fighting; on his homeworld this was a social practice and it was common to challenge someone to a fight to resolve disputes. Devyn has kept in good shape because he
needed to, both to defend himself socially and from the spreading Chaos. This habit has followed him to Earth, where he’s found (accidental) success in fighting rings. Social fighting gives him some semblance of normality and he finds comfort in an environment where it is encouraged and supported. He prefers MMA or fighting with no particular style required but he won’t shy away from anything.
Tinkering/Restoration - In a world of broken things, Devyn was interested in understanding and fixing things even before everything fell to ruin. He is fascinated most by small machines and took it upon himself to understand how they worked. He favors music boxes above all but enjoys trying to fix things up. He is very practiced in repairing things both big and small and knows an array of restoration techniques that are useful for a wide variety of items. He likes being able to bring things back to life and, in some cases, completely reinvent them.
Sewing/Tailoring - Looking good has always been important to Devyn; his world might be known for their brutish ways but they were also known for their exquisite (and sometimes gaudy) fashion. Devyn has always been rough on his clothes and grew quickly, so knowing how to tailor or sew was vital. He is good with detail work and following patterns or working without them; he has a deep appreciation for nice fabrics and embroidery.
Art - Devyn doesn’t understand art but he finds himself in museums and galleries regularly. They are quiet places that remind him of better times, and he is impressed by the vast difference in what constitutes for
art. He appreciates the timelessness of older pieces more than newer pieces, but it might just be because he feels old and resonates with things that have survived the test of time.
Collector - Devyn has lost so much that he has acquired a habit of collecting, and what catches his eye varies greatly. He likes shiny things and collects trinkets and relics, often with the intention of fixing or restoring them. He has a habit of bringing something back with him from everywhere he goes, and always seems to be looking for books, maps, or interesting rocks.
Virtues: Loyal -- Devyn is slow to trust and slower to declare loyalty but once it is earned he is unwavering. He is faithful and commits himself fully to his allies and those close to him. He is trustworthy and always follows through on his promises. He does not consider his own needs above the needs of those important to him and he is both dutiful and reliable.
Adaptable -- The world is always changing, and not usually for the better. Devyn is capable of adjusting course based on what is happening around him and willing to make sacrifices for the greater good. He can be creative in his solutions and his persistence means he won’t give up. His adaptability makes him seem unbreakable and he works hard to accommodate the situation and adjust to meet and overcome all obstacles.
Protective -- Devyn is used to seeing powerful people abuse their power for their own purposes, so he has taken it upon himself to use his power to protect those who cannot protect themselves. He expects nothing from this and often acts out of pure altruism and a desire to help. He believes strongly in his own path and will do his best to protect and aid those who could use a little help.
Determined -- There is no obstacle Devyn can’t overcome and he will work tirelessly until he accomplishes his goal. He is always hopeful for a better future and puts his best effort towards whatever he is working on. He often has ambitious aspirations and will put in the effort to achieve them. He is unwavering and can be stubborn once he’s made his mind up on something; It is nearly impossible to deter him, but he is always open minded to finding
better ways of moving forward.
Flaws: Prideful -- Devyn’s confidence can come across as prideful and arrogant and he sees no reason to put forth any effort to seem more humble or correct anyone’s opinion of him. He has absolute confidence in his skills and can come across as arrogant because he seems to assume things are best left in his own hands. He doesn’t like to ask for help and often winds up taking on great projects by himself because he has trouble trusting others and doesn’t want to expose any of his weaknesses.
Intense -- Devyn can be
intense; he comes from a different world and a different time and he’s been alone for so long that he’s settled into his own habits and routine. He can jump to extremes rather quickly and his ability to give everything his best effort means that sometimes he can be overwhelming or seem like he’s going overboard. He can be overzealous and can sometimes come across as overbearing and intimidating.
Relentless -- When Devyn sets his mind on something that’s
all his mind is on. He fixates on tasks and goals and doesn’t know when to give in because he doesn’t know how to give
up. He is unshakeable and doesn’t seem to know when to back off, even when it would be in his best interest. He will push himself beyond reasonable limits, at detriment to his health and the patience of others. He can be reckless and unyielding and can agitate others by pushing too hard.
Guarded -- Trust doesn’t come easily to Devyn and he often appears secretive or aloof. He seems like he’s better left to his own devices and can come across as detached and disinterested. He can be cold and blunt, both because he is reluctant to become close to people on a world that is not his own and because his tendency to lose things makes him reluctant to open himself up for that again.
