The energy signature of another in the park was commonplace; Alastor passed through here sometimes just to see who would show up. Sometimes, it was just someone trying to enjoy the night. Sometimes it was someone trying to make sure the area was safe. Sometimes it was someone trying to start trouble.
He wasn’t sure where this Corrupted Senshi fit under that umbrella, but he wasn’t going to stand by and wonder.
Alastor had spent much of today poring over a book as he carefully translated and hand wrote every page. It wasn’t just that his hand was sore, or that his back was sore, it was that he had way too much energy.
The quick solution had been to take a jog around the park, and he figured he might as well kill two birds with one stone and power up to do it. Working out his energy, keep the neighborhood safe.
It was a good plan.
He’d promised to stay safe, so he was. He didn’t rush into danger or try to start fights. If he’d felt like something was amiss, he would have told Michael.
A Super Senshi alone wasn’t much of a threat, but he knew that they could teleport. It didn’t mean that others weren’t hiding in the bushes. It didn’t mean that there wasn’t a squad of them waiting to teleport in if needed.
His jog slowed to a walk as he eyed the Senshi, whose hair alone was enough to make him stand out in the would-be darkness. There were too many street lamps around to leave much to the imagination.
The man didn’t seem to be up to any trouble, but maybe he’d just been unsuccessful in finding it so far.
Alastor approached regardless. He was on guard, but he wasn’t unfriendly.
“You know. I never understood a Senshi working with the Negaverse. It seems like you’ve got so much more to gain without them holding you back. I hope you don't mind my prying. How did you get roped into this?” he asked, gesturing towards the Corrupted’s uniform.

Versailles had gone back to the park to make sure that the Deep Space Senshi that he had rescued had made it out okay and there wasn't a puddle of blood. He had yet to be reprimanded for it, but they would find out eventually. He had been lazy enough that he would be easily recognized and found. So as he was contemplating what to do and ignoring his hair smacking him in the face, he heard the noise of someone nearby. If he hadn't been so lost in thought he would have felt their aura too before they were practically on top of him, but alas he was surprised. He turned to look at the other, who appeared to be quite human, one could never tell these days you know, and moved his hand to get his hair out of his face so that he could fully look at the other. The wind had other ideas and so he had to keep his had where it was or else he would be blinded. "Personally I was forced into it. They didn't exactly give me a choice." He said with a shrug of his left shoulder. His right was still being used to hold up his hand. "And I've also been trying to find a way out of it. Can't say I've been at all successful considering I'm still a Corrupt." His hair also said otherwise.

It was more information than Alastor had expected to get, and there was a brief moment when he had to debate if he was lucky or being pulled into a trap. He’d seen how things had gone with Faustite; he didn’t want to be taken for a fool.
He intended to proceed–with caution. If this senshi was serious about leaving the Negaverse, he wasn’t going to do anything to discourage that.
“Well, I suppose that makes more sense than anyone who wanted to join.”
Alastor put forth his best effort to come across as friendly–and he wanted to be friendly. He was just still used to people being afraid of him.
Earth was different. He knew that. It was a fresh start here. He wasn’t going to waste it.
“Where are you getting caught up? If you don’t mind me prying. I know people who are always trying to help people get out of the Negaverse. If you’re serious about it, maybe they can help you, too.”
Preferably in an environment that wouldn’t facilitate any sort of ambush.

Versailles shrugged, momentarily removing his hand from near his face which allowed his hair to obscure it once again. "Well, it's not as though I knew about any of this before I was forced to join. It wasn't exactly a choice where I knew what both sides did." He said with a sly grin. "Had I known about all of... this" he waved vaguely though a bit at his hair, "I probably would have joined Order in the first place." He then crossed his arms. "That's exactly where I'm at. You aren't the first to offer me help, but how to do so is the problem. I have yet to find anyone who has a clear answer other than it can be done and they know someone of someone who can do it. Of course I would have to prove myself which I wouldn't mind doing, but there doesn't appear to be a clear-cut way to purify in the first place from what I can tell."

Alastor's eyes narrowed just slightly as he contemplated Versailles words. It seemed like an easy enough story to follow–Chaos, the Negaverse–injecting themselves and taking what they wanted and forcing as much on whoever they pleased. It was what he expected of them.
Being forced to join was better than death, but Versailles had still gotten a poor deal.
“Is wanting to be free of the Chaos not enough?” he asked, pressing his tongue into his cheek as he contemplated the other’s words. “...I have heard,” he said, with as much patience as he could muster to say her name, “that Cosmos can hear a starseed crying for help. Even if you could find no one else, she should be there.”
Not that he’d ever done him much good, but.
“I don’t know what you’d have to prove. Is wanting out of the Negaverse not enough? I should think anyone would be eager to help you facilitate those goals.”

Versailles could only shrug at his questions. "I don't know. I don't believe I haven't met anyone who purified who was in the Negaverse first. I suppose it might be easier to go back if one was once Order and then got corrupted, but the information seems to be kept a tight-lipped secret on both sides. Negaverse so that less Agents know about it and I have no idea why on Order. But you're the first one to give me a name." He said with a nod. He didn't believe he had heard Cosmos before, or at least he was sure he would have remembered it. "Plenty have been eager to help. Perhaps it's my own fault that it hasn't happened yet. And what's keeping me back, I would like to know. Perhaps I just need to look inside a bit more." He said with a chuckle. "When I first joined, well was forced, I thought I truly wanted to be in it. The want for power and change can be very promising." He said, wondering if the other was listening. "However, once I was promoted everything has seemed... empty. And those changes? Certainly not good ones and most of them are kept under strict rules of acceptance. Order... there you can be free. I assume you don't report to anyone at least. I wouldn't really know not having been on your side, but it must be nice to be able to work on what you want when you want it. "I'm telling you this because from what I have seen, those are a few of the reasons that people willingly join from the Order side. And I'm unsure of how to fix it. But it feels so hard to get out even if one wants to. I'm sure it's an internal change I need to make myself, but I do appreciate everyone's attempts at helping." He said with a nod. He had gained information from the Senshi, he could only hope that telling the other what he knew, which wasn't much unfortunately, would be helpful to the Senshi.

For whatever disdain Alastor carried for Cosmos, there was a practical part of him that must have known she did everything she could. He would never forget that she’d been absent when he needed her, but there were those here that had seen her. Spoken to her. There were people on Earth who had been saved by her.
Perhaps her bias was here. He’d heard she’d come when called.
He’d never tried. He didn’t know what he’d said to her if he did meet her.
He did not speak ill of her to Versailles. If she could save him, then let him have hope.
“Rumor says she can hear starseeds,” Alastor said after a moment. “She is the keeper of them, Guardian of the Cauldron.” It was safer to advertise her than Ganymede, he supposed. There was good reason to be cautious if someone said they wanted to purge the Chaos from their starseed and had yet to make such a commitment.
Alastor didn’t think it was anything to laugh at but he smiled politely anyway.
“Chaos is nothing but empty promises,” he mused. “It’s a disease that consumes you. Feeds off of you. Uses every part of you that it can take for itself. Whatever good might come of that power isn’t yours to command. I suppose it must be easy to be seduced by the promise of power, but they don’t tell you that it’s not your own. You don’t need Chaos to have power, though. It’s a cheat, at best. A hollow facade. You’ll see that when you leave.”
If Versailles was serious about leaving then he would see it. You’re a Senshi, there’s a world out there you should be connected to. There’s power there, and freedom. I do what I want, there’s no one to command me. I have whatever I need. I hope you get to experience that, too. Whatever is holding you back now, I wish you all the best in overcoming it.”
Sooner rather than later, ideally. Before someone decided his starseed was better off sent to the Cauldron for a fresh start, anyway.
It was hard for Alastor not to entertain the idea, but then he knew that his experience with Chaos–with everything–was a bit different.
Someone willing to purge the Chaos in this lifetime was certainly preferred. Especially if they were willing to try and restore their world or push back against the Chaos here.
“I’ve seen a lot of Chaos in my life, and none of it’s ever had anything good come out of it. To get out? I think it’s a risk worth taking.”

For a moment Versailles took in Alastor's words. "That does sound much better. Unfortunately when we are, usually forced to, join the Negaverse, we do not get told of any of this. I didn't even know I had my own Homeworld until recently. And power over others certainly isn't what I want." In a way, what he didn't want was commanding others. Having a higher status however? That was okay in his book! One of the reasons he wanted to become an Eternal. "I'll get there someday, when I'm more assured of it. But the chaos... it's as though it's always whispering in your ear, telling you it will give you whatever you want, that any cost is worth it." He shook his head. "It's hard to get out of your mind. The more powerful you become, the louder it seems to grow. It wasn't this bad when I was just a basic. I can see how it would be quite hard for others to get out, especially when they have to create new lives on top of it in order to hide from the Negaverse." One of the few reasons he hadn't been making any friends in the Negaverse. He would have more than likely been seen as a civilian, and it would be harder to get away. "I appreciate meeting you Alastor. You give your opinion bluntly and that's something that I feel others sometimes lack."

Alastor knew what it was like to be tempted by Chaos. He’d had it whispering its poison into his ear, into his dreams, into his world for so long that its presence was just how things were.
He knew it wasn’t right.
His convictions forced him to combat the temptation.
He hadn’t faltered yet. Humored the idea, sure. But he’d never given into it.
He could imagine what he thought the Negaverse was like, but he could never know.
Alastor wasn’t planning on finding out if he was right.
“Well, I’ve always got a lot to say. I’m happy to give my opinion if you ever need to hear it. I might not know you, and you might not know me well enough to trust me, but if you decide to leave, I don’t think you’ll have to worry about doing anything alone. There are people everywhere who will do whatever they can to help you. Mauvians that can help you build a new life, a better one. No strings attached.”
No secret masters to serve, no debt to pay.
“You must be strong, if you’re managing to think through your options even with the Chaos. If you need help, just know you’ll have it.”

Versailles couldn't help but smirk a little. "I trust you, a lot more than my fellow Agents currently. I haven't found a reason to distrust Order yet." He hoped he never would. He didn't believe that they had any underlying reason to be evil at least. "I can't say I know for sure what I need to do to push myself over the edge to be able to purify, and sometimes I wonder if it's something I have to discover for myself. As much as I wish I could purify right this moment." He said with a chuckle. "I believe that talking to more Order would be helpful, though someone who has purified and remembers doing so would be quite beneficial. I could see what I was doing wrong or what I need to give myself over the last invisible hurdle that keeps Cosmos from coming. Or perhaps she is just lazy." He said giving a small smile at the Senshi. "I do thank you for the conversation however. It gives me more to think about and ponder. Something I need to spend more time doing that I have I think." Usually when he was a civilian he sometimes forgot about his entire powered life, only until he remembered he could do something or wanted to search for more Order that he usually remembered that he was on the "wrong" side. "I'll keep your name in mind. Perhaps we will see each other again, hopefully with me on the other side next time. Though if there is another way to contact you or find you, perhaps after I find more information I can come back and we can have another discussion." Kyuseisha no Hikari I think we can wrap this up in the next couple of posts!

Well, the smirk wasn’t particularly reassuring, but Alastor didn’t find himself intimidated so he didn’t worry about it.
Cosmos wasn’t his favorite person in the universe, so he nodded absentmindedly when Versailles suggested she might be lazy. Realistically, Alastor knew she was busy. He just resented her, anyway.
“There is no way that I know of, but if you find someone, ask them. I get around. Senshi, Knights, Mauvians. Someone will be able to reach me. If you ever want to speak again, we’ll make it happen.”
A promise, and one he seemed comfortable and confident in. He wasn’t just giving lip service; he wanted less Chaos in this world, and even just one senshi willing to step out of the darkness was worth the effort.
An ally was better than the Cauldron.

"I'll do just that then. I can only hope that making all of these connections will eventually lead me to purification. At least no one can say I'm not trying. It was good to meet you again Alastor." And with that he teleported away, far enough that the Senshi wouldn't be able to sense him and powered down. He would walk the rest of the way home, it was nearby. And he had some things to think about as well. And hopefully it would bring him closer to his goal of purification. Kyuseisha no Hikari ending post from me! Thank you so much!
