Though Alastor was keeping himself busy, most of his meetings didn’t quite take place this far away from the city. In an act of discretion, he’d been in the area, though he hadn’t really anticipated meeting anyone else. He’d finished up not so very long ago and was in the process of working his way home as he sorted his thoughts.

An energy signature–a strong one–so near to the base of the mountain immediately caught his attention.

He was far from home. A detour wasn’t going to make any difference in the fact that he was going to get home late tonight.

And, he couldn’t help but be curious.

He’d spent all this time trying to get strong enough to fix his world–now he just needed to figure out how to do it.

If he needed to, he’d talk to everyone in this city.

“Hey,” he greeted, when he wasn’t too far from the man; it didn’t appear as though anyone else was in the area so he could only assume that he was here alone. Although, he didn’t want to interrupt anything if he’d been planning on meeting up with someone. “I’m Alastor. Do you have a minute? I’ve got a weird Chaos problem, I’m just trying to sort it out. Taking shots in the dark right now, but it’s important.”

In the empty cobblestone hollow of one if the many foot-traffic only sections of the area, surrounded by quaint and rustic-looking store fronts and closed up stalls there was a fountain which, aside from the man sitting on the edge of it, seemed the only life there that night. This area was usually bustling with life during the day - Hawara remembered practically begging Lukas to come here last Christmas when his parents came to visit. It had elicited some sort of nostalgia for him, only it was nostalgia for something he had never experienced in this lifetime. The best he could attribute it to would be the feelings left behind, memory-less and deconstructed in to just vague essences of emotion, from his past. Maybe the open-air markets on Uranus had been similar? Or maybe it was more simple than that, and simply something he'd experienced before his memories were scrubbed clean when he came to the side of Order.

This far out in the mountain-side tourist district of Destiny City, it was usually pretty quiet once night fell - maybe making a tourist trap out of 'urban monster hunting' kept them away? When Hawara needed an easy night, this was usually a fair bet. Plus, it was close to his job, and his home at the park just up the mountain, and he liked to keep his 'back yard' clean.

An Order energy signature pricking at his senses was an uncommon occurrence if it wasn't Mocona coming to join him, but Lukas hasn't mentioned anything. The increasing feeling of it approaching made Hawara somewhat anxious though. For a long time, he had pretty much kept to himself - he had plenty of his own personal issues to figure out after all. Now, however, he felt like he was in a place where he could finally begin reaching out and helping others, but he found taking the first step awkward. Sure - he was a very open book once conversation got rolling! But he wasn't quite extroverted enough to make first contact yet it seemed. Surely with time the confidence would grow - he still had plenty of room to grow.

Hawara was watching the reflection of the glowing marks that adorned his skin reflect in the wavelets of the fountain water when the owner of that other energy signature approached and spoke. Hawara listened, and then turned to face the senshi who didn't appear so vastly different from the average human to set off anything in Hawara's mind, although he had aught word of 'odd senshi' showing up after everything that happened last autumn.

"Hawara, Knight of Uranus," he greeted in return, "One person's Chaos problem can soon become everyone's Chaos problem - I'd be pretty remiss to not offer some sort of help so - shoot."

Oh, good. He was friendly. That took a lot of the social maneuvering problems out of the equation, so Alastor could just focus on the topic.

Well, if the glowing marks hadn’t been a bit distracting. He tried to focus on Hawara’s eyes, but he couldn’t help the way his attention strayed to the strange markings.

“My homeworld is covered in this thick haze of it. It’s been storming for years. Chaos has saturated just about everything. I haven’t seen anyone there in a while, so I can only assume they’ve all had to leave or they’re still in hiding, but it’s not really the most comfortable environment right now.”

Never mind the fact that he hadn’t been able to leave until he saw that light in the sky; he doubted others would have had an easier time than he did.

“I don’t know if it’s going to spread off of my world anywhere else, but I know that if I can get rid of the Chaos back home, I’ll be better suited to help get rid of the Chaos here, too. I’m wondering if you’ve ever found the source of Chaos? Not just what manifests from it, but the origin point? I’m trying to know what I should prepare for.”

Or, more accurately, how to defeat it, but he figured he should start small. He was already aware that Chaos came in varying forms, but if someone knew how to beat one type, certainly it must be applicable in other situations too, right?

Hawara listened, and his brow furrowed a bit at a particular part, and he looked a bit more closely at the senshi before him.

"Wait wait, hold that thought - You mentioned you hadn't 'seen anyone there in a while.' Umm... To my knowledge, all of our homeworlds and wonders are pretty barren of life up till recently, but you seem to imply yours had people?" He asked for clarification, although he was pretty sure he'd heard that right.

He continued with his attempts to gain clarification;

"You.... You aren't fr-" okay, rephrasing cause technicalities, "weren't born on this planet, were you?" Hawara squinted a bit and pointed at the ground as if the motion somehow emphasized what he was asking.

Again, he'd heard a little about 'alien' senshi showing up after whatever it was that went down with those other aliens last year, but it was just that. No further elaboration, and the source seemed just as clueless about it as he was. Hawara had shrugged it off as information getting twisted in some weird game of telephone. Still, it wasn't exactly something he'd doubt would happen. And was the most 'logical' thought his mind could jump to, given what he'd just heard from this Alastor guy.

Still, he stood by what he said earlier - One person's Chaos problem could soon become eveyone's Chaos problem. It didn't really matter where he was from or how he got here if there was a threat that had even the slightest chance of spreading here, or anywhere else.

"Well, I guess origen doesn't matter - the problem's still the same regardless," he said with a shrug, "The source of the Chaos here? Well, I don't know really where The Dark Mirror senshi get theirs, but I'm pretty familiar with the Negaverse's brand of Chaos."

Very familiar. He wasn't shy about his past either.

"Metallia is their source, some ancient - formless as far as I'm aware, I doubt that's changed since my time with them - entity who fills a person's starseed with her chaos. Well, not directly - she has her agents to do that. However, it is a Chaos that over time, and the more her agents have within them, whittles away at their morals and inhibitions so that they can better serve her will. It warps their mind in to allegiance, and if that's not enough, and they catch you before you can break free from her control, they have their ways of reinforcing that hold."

He took in a beep breath and let it loose as if breathing away the vitriol he could feel building as he spoke of Chaos. He could have gone in to a diatribe about the misnomer that the terms Chaos and Order held. It was more like Control and Freedom. He liked to think that as a Knight of Uranus he had a stronger desire for that freedom than some - like the unbridled wind. Others, well, not everyone did as well in the wide open world of freedom and uninhibited possibility. They needed structure, needed hierarchy, needed to be under someone's Control. And those were the one's that flourished under Chaos. Hawara could only think of Wolframite when he went down that train of thought. Pathetic and aimless without Metallia's leash and orders. He didn't know what became of his ex-husband, but it wouldn't have been any surprise to him if he wen't crawling back in to his mistress' lap. But that rabbit hole was perhaps best left to another time.

"I've never laid eyes on Metallia, mind you, but I have tasted that power, been drenched in it's darkness, and then rebuked it's claim over me. I made the choice to rid myself of it. Sought out those who could help me. Now it can't touch me anymore...and this light that shines upon my skin, a gift from my wonder, protects me. It is an oath to fight against Chaos in all its forms."

Passionate? Yes. Melodramatic? Oh certainly. Was he serious, though? Absolutely.

There were many times that Alastor could have injected, to answer a question or ask his own, but he was invested in Hawara’s answer. Sometimes, he didn’t know exactly what questions he should be asking, but the Knight had said more than enough to give him a jumping off point.

“It would seem I am fortunate to have run into you tonight. Thank you for that. I am not the most familiar with Earth’s brand of Chaos, but–no, I’m not from here. I’d been back on Alastor for quite a while, by myself. Getting to Earth is nothing shy of a miracle. I’m still not entirely sure how it happened. But I’m glad to be here. And, I’m glad you’ve all managed to do as well as you have. Especially in the face of what the Negaverse can do.”

Which, Hawara seemed to know on a more intimate level.

“I don’t know where the Chaos on my world came from. I don’t know if it has a name or a face. I just know that it consumes, and it’s spread, deep. I have no idea where the heart of it is. And I don’t know how to defeat it even if I do find it. It’s got walls of darkness, between me and it.” Wherever it was. He looked at the glowing marks on Hawara’s skin contemplatively and knew the shadows on his world shied away from light.

He wondered if Hawara’s own light would have been enough to protect him.

“How did you manage that? To earn your Wonder’s blessing in such a way?“

Hawara seemed thoughtful for a moment as he pondered over the chaos Alastor described.

"It's definitely a good idea to do some intel on this thing before confronting it then - sounds like this is going to be a process. Things like this can't just be rushed in to blind..." but he was sure the senshi already knew that.

Still, there were plenty of more brash fighters out there that would rush in and think they can just brute force the 'evil' away... Hawara favored the more tactful approach. A planner, a schemer, those traits balanced the more freedom-embracing nature of this Uranus knight.

"Transcendence? I'm not sure if it works for everyone this way, but I've spent a lot of time at my wonder - fixing it up, learning its secrets.. It was my sanctuary in hard times, and helped me fix.... a lot of stuff I had going on in my life - mentally, emotionally.." Hawara shrugged, "If it were a person, I'd say we were super-close; two halves of a whole. Those words kind of sound weird when referring to a place but... I think my wonder felt the dedication and love I feel for it, and it gave me a test of sorts to see just how truly that bond held. This was my reward for passing I guess. Maybe in the past there was some sort of ritual or whatever, but now that a lot of that knowledge is gone, I an't say definitively that there is any way to actively seek out achieve this state intentionally."

Sometimes it was weird to think about how little he really knew about things - about how knighthood truly worked in the past, the history of his own wonder and its role in general. He was going on hunches and feelings and sometimes the odd flash of memories. The thought that there were those out there that has lived so long ago and actually seen some of these places back in their hey-day made Hawara want to pick their mind to fill in the blanks to better serve his wonder, and sate his own curiosity.

But there were more pressing issues at present.

"I know that Senshi can also achieve this - I'd wonder if your world is in any condition to bestow that in it's current state though... It would be a valuable armor of sorts for anyone looking to fight off chaos."

Alastor nodded along as the Knight spoke; he’d thought this over and come to the same conclusion–it was better to be prepared. Better to have the information before being caught unawares.

There just wasn’t exactly a wealth of expertise, so the research required quite a bit more legwork.

Transcendence was still novel to him.

“I never met anyone who’d Transcended before I arrived on Earth. I don’t know if it’s a new thing or just something exclusive to those of you born here. I’ve spent a lot of time on my world. Took care of it for a long time. I don’t know how many secrets it might be hiding from me.”

He didn’t know how many people were left to help him uncover them.

He had a sanctuary there, and he’d always been connected to the Core of his world, but he couldn’t say that he hadn’t a lot of stuff going on in his life, too.

“I cannot say I am not envious of you. That sounds like quite a blessing. I’d like to think I’ve done everything in my power to protect my world, but I know it’s struggling now.” By no fault of his own, he’d like to tell himself, but he still felt full responsibility. “It’s been a long time since it was at its full strength. I could feel it weakening before. My power faded with it. But, since I’ve been back on Earth, I’ve managed to restore myself.”

With help. He couldn’t have done it alone, and he was grateful for what aid he’d had along the way.

“It’s something to look into, thank you. I hope your Wonder can keep you safe. Especially when Chaos continues to grow so freely.”

"If its something new, then maybe it's something older forms of Chaos haven't learned how to fight against yet then - haven't built counter-measures to. I'll stick that one in my 'things to ponder that I'll likely never get answers to' pile," He said with a bit of a smile and a hint of laughter in his voice.

He had learned to take the fact that these things weren't likely to ever have answers a bit more lightheartedly. At first he had been frustrated, as he was sure many Order newbies were. That was an advantage the Negaverse at least appeared to have. There was structure and explanations for things, even if he was reasonable sure most of them were fake or fudged to pacify and control them.....

"Struggling, but not dead yet," Hawara replied in some form of encouragement, "The homeworlds of the senshi born here on Earth can't boast the same, and yet with work and dedication, they've been able to receive such power. I'm sure one day you may be able to do the same."

Homeworlds and Wonders could be such fickle things, demanding more or less of their protectors than others, and sometimes bringing out deep personal doubts about themselves because of it. How many senshi had experienced such when coming to term with their own sphere's of power? Fearing their own magic?
Hawara couldn't help but think that maybe his place was to offer a way to help them come to terms with that, to work through their quandaries, and face down the demons of doubt and fear in their minds. If that was not what his wonder was for back then, that is what it would be now.

Hawara nodded, "If there's anything I can do to help, I'm willing to lend a hand, along with my wonder's services. As far as I have discerned and experienced, one of its functions is to place a person in to a kind of....'virtual reality' projection of one's own mind and emotions, and help them face down and unravel the problems and dissonance therein. It is a wonder of psychological therapy, and it can be horrifying, but the reward... It doesn't....completely get rid of them, but does help one come to terms with them in a way that they can learn how to deal with them. And from what I've experienced, Chaos likes to play a psychological game. Knowing what you've got going on," Hawara tapped his temple, "that it can use against you, can be a useful weapon in your arsenal."

He liked to think that after all his Wonder had helped him through, there wasn't much that could get to him, that he wasn't already aware of, but there was always room for surprises.

Alastor laughed softly and shook his head as he exhaled. “I think I have an idea what they could use against me. I don’t think putting myself through that is necessary. But I see the appeal and the benefit others might find from it. That doesn’t sound like an easy job, perhaps I envy you a little less.”

There were things in his mind that were better left alone and undisturbed, and even if he were going to sort them out, he didn’t think he’d have wanted an audience for it. No matter how good-intentioned the offer was, Alastor was still guarded when he could be.

Hawara was right, though.

If his world was only struggling, there was still hope. And, if other worlds had been restored, he had a chance, too.

Just one extra hurdle to jump over.

He was dedicated. He worked hard.

If others could do it, so could he. And, he had clothes to help him; Hawara had offered, and humored his questions, and given him more to think about. Even without a straight answer for how to deal with his Chaos, there was still something to work with. The universe could find new ways to fight Chaos, even now. It wasn’t hopeless.

“You seem like a good ally to have, Hawara. I’d like to take you up on your offer. I’ll need the help. I’d like to keep in contact, I can let you know if I figure anything else out. And, when I’m planning on confronting it, I’d be glad to have your assistance if it’s still available.” He wouldn’t blame anyone if they decided otherwise, but Alastor was sincere in his gratitude for the offer alone. Prideful, still, but not so reckless that he couldn’t see that he needed help. And, he fully intended to repay whatever assistance he was given–doubled, if he could.

Hawara listened, and gave a shrug-nod, "Understandable. Honestly, I'd probably find the job a bit harder if I had more bites, but I've been pretty horrible about networking and connecting with others - I'm working on it. I've only just recently gotten to a place where I'm comfortable enough in my own life to reach out a hand to others anyway. That said, of course I'd be glad to keep in contact and assist."

Truly Hawara, as proud and eager as he was to share how great he thought his wonder was with others, he wasn't offended in the least by the refusal of a stranger to embark on such an adventure willy-nilly. And it was partly his own social awkwardness that didn't help - he was like both a proud dad and and over-eager kid. He could be more tactful. He'd learn with time.

The important thing now was that he was getting out there and trying to make connections. Maybe this one would lead to more - a jumping off point of sorts.

"You've got my name, so I assume you know how to contact me in the future?"

Between senshi phones and knight rings, somehow things worked when one didn't just serendipitously manage to stumble upon the person they were hoping to stumble upon.

“Yes, I think I can do that,” Alastor promised. He pulled out his Senshi phone and, while he wasn’t the best with technology, he had the basics downpat. Soleiyu had made it as easy as possible to get him set up and functioning, so it was relatively simple to get Hawara added. He was quick to pocket the phone, as if eager to not have to worry about it.

“My networking could use some improvement, too, so I understand that. But, small steps.” He flashed a quick smile. “Maybe when I’ve got a little less to worry about, you can tell me more about what you’ve got going on at your Wonder. It’s taken me a long time to get to this point.” He understood the difficulties in finding a place where you were comfortable reaching out to others. He’d rather be offering help than asking for it, but there was always a strange vulnerability in that, too.

He didn’t want Hawara to think he was ungrateful in any capacity. His Wonder sounded like it could have greatly benefited the right audience; Alastor just wasn’t sure it was him.

Or, maybe he just didn’t want to deal with more right now.

Still, he had enough to think about for tonight; Transcendence entered a new option for him to consider, and he appreciated the time Hawara had spent with him.

“But, it’s worked out well this time. I wouldn’t have met you, otherwise. I’ll send you a message soon. Hopefully with good news. Although, I don’t really have the best of luck, and the Chaos on my world is very stubborn, so. We’ll see. Thank you again, Hawara.”
