This room is one of the four small square rooms on the map. Once you are all inside, the door closes behind you. The door seems to be sealed by some sort of Chaos and the room is covered in a dark fog.

This is the same fog that obscured the twelve paths in the Wilds and the path to the Observatory!

There is no going back. At least, not the way you came. You will need to find a new way out.

There is a sphere in the center of the room that looks like an orb with stars, constellations and astronomical phenomena. In fact, it looks a lot like the orb that is Urania’s personal item. But if you have been to Urania previously, you recognize it and know that, once activated, it can clear the fog.

It projects a voice that all in the room can hear:

“Please enter the password for activation. Hint mode is active.”

Then it adds:

“Though always shining, in daylight I hide.”

Quote:
You must answer the riddle. Each character may provide only one answer even if it is the same as someone else’s. Every 24 hours, you will get a new clue.

Half of the answers must be submitted and be correct for the characters in this group to not be affected by this room’s Chaos.

Quote me to submit your answer to the riddle.

This role-play will last 72 hours.

Super Sailor Selinur

Stepping into the room Selinur waited until the door closed behind himself and whoever else had decided to join him in the room. He wasn't expecting to see a familiar looking orb, he'd seen that before on this planet, and he was certain he knew what would come next. When the orb asked for a password, and mentioned a hint, he was even more sure of it. A riddle.

This was just going to ask for a riddle? Would that really be it? He doubted it would be so simple, even if it seeme dlike it would be, he didn't trust chaos in any form or guise it came in. "It can't be this simple." He whispered but he did offer up an answer either way.

"The moon, that's the answer." Had it used a plural term for itself, rather than the singular, he would have guessed stars but this had to be the moon. It fit with this planet and the sphere of the senshi who called this place home.

Alastor, Eternal Senshi of Despair

Alastor had taken a picture of the map before entering, and immediately sent it to Sessrumnir, Ephesus, and Amarynthos–who in turn had been quick to spread it to their friends as well.

It was with some reluctance that he and Sessrumnir parted–but the boys were in a large group. They’d be fine. Naturally, he’d worry, but if all went well…

The boys were clever, and they’d look after their friends. The faster they solved the riddles, the faster they’d be able to get out of here. Ideally before the Chaos had time to make an attack.

He’d given Ephesus a quick half hug and told him to message if they needed help. Amarynthos had assured them that they’d be okay, and they’d separated. Not so far away; he was sure he could still feel them nearby. Out of sight but not out of mind.

It was motivation to find the answer swiftly and reunite.

Riddles weren’t quite Alastor’s passion, but he’d had a lot of time to pass on his world. Urania’s stronghold was in an observatory, and there was no shortage of celestial themes. Stars, and constellations he wasn’t sure he recognized.

Even now, he stayed close to Sessrumnir, but he titled his head when Selinur spoke. “Are you sure? My moon doesn’t shine. Nor Earth’s.” He hadn’t seen Urania’s, didn’t know if she had one. “I see them both often when the sun’s out.” He eyed the sphere in the center of the room, and then looked back to Selinur. “You don’t see the stars when the sun’s out, though. That seems like a safer guess. But you might know more about this world than I do.”

Sessrumnir, Knight of Jupiter

Sessrumnir was naturally worried about the boys, but they were Knights and they were with their friends. They all seemed passionate about what they were doing, or at least loyal to each other, so there was probably nothing to worry about.

And if he and Alastor could clear out the Chaos in the other parts of the building at the same time, it meant they could get back to the boys and their friends sooner.

He wasn’t particularly in the mood for riddles, even if he enjoyed word play. He knew it was important for them to get to the Chaos to destroy it before it could hurt anyone else, so he did pay attention when the riddle was given.

“Moons also don’t shine during an eclipse,” Sessrumnir pointed out as he stood near Alastor, although he was focusing more on their surroundings than anyone with them. Either way, he suspected Alastor might be closer to the answer.

Super Sailor Selinur

Turning to the two he tilted his head. "Yes, but stars is a plural and it uses the word I - a singular term. So it's likely a single thing in space rather than something which is many. And the Earth's moon does shine, it gives light, but not when the sun is out - it can't. But somewhere else it does shine, where it is night." Leaning back onto the slight heels of his boots he turned his pale eyes onto the orb once more. He was certain of his answer. He wasn't looking to convince the others, though it would be nice, he'd let them have their answers though and give them to the orb.

"No, not on Earth. It doesn't say where it shines though - simply that this object does shine. And he moon, and it's shine, cannot be seen when the sun is out." Moving around the room, his boots made a soft thudding sound as he walked, his tail swaying as he moved about. He kept his pale eyes on the orb. "Perhaps it'll give another clue if we don't get it right the first time...we can narrow the answer down then." And while it would take longer, something he wasn't interested in, it at least didn't mean they lost and failed altogether.

"Also, it doesn't need to be Earth's moon. I am not familiar with the moon, or moons, here. Perhaps there is no eclipse here as there is on Earth. T he rules of Earth don't always apply in space." Something which also needed to be kept in mind, something he needed to remember as well. He needed to think like the alien he was...not a child of Earth.

Alastor, Eternal Senshi of Despair

Alastor was quiet for a moment, and he trusted that Selinur had a good source of information to back up his thought process. Though, he did not have such conviction that the moon was a viable answer.

A flashlight shined. A star shined. The moon reflected light, it didn’t shine on its own. And he had definitely seen the moon mid-afternoon earlier this week. He wasn’t an expert, he wouldn’t claim to be, but he couldn’t help but think back to Percy’s lessons. He was well versed in astronomy, and Devyn had often liked to sit in just to hear him talk.

The moons on Jupiter didn’t shine. They reflected light, if ever you could see them through the storm clouds.

Was it semantics? Did Urania have a different interpretation?

Again, his eyes found the stars decorating the orb in the center of the room.

Not all worlds had moons. Not all worlds had moons like Earth’s. Some worlds had more than one moon. Earth was not Alastor’s first point of reference, it was his own world. He’d seen far more than just that.

He’d seen the moon at all hours of the day and night, and he’d seen eclipses all the same.

“Stars shine, they make their own light. And I’ve never seen one beyond the sun. Starlight, maybe, if you’re worried about semantics. But it doesn’t sit right with me to choose ‘moon’ when we don’t even know if this world has one. I’ve seen too many moons in broad daylight. Are you sure, Selinur?”

It wasn’t that he didn’t trust him, it was just that there was no telling what a wrong answer might incur. He wasn’t willing to put anyone at risk if it could be avoided, but he couldn’t in good faith find confidence in Selinur’s suggestion.

Sessrumnir, Knight of Jupiter

Sessrumnir frowned, although he was trying to ignore any irritation. His heart thrummed fast, and he wasn’t sure if it was the Chaos that surrounded them, or if it was his starseed wishing to discuss astronomy.

Percy was the astronomer. The scholar. The artist. The inventor. If anyone knew the answer to the riddle, it would probably be Percy.

Unfortunately, Percy was no longer with them, and it was just the starseed he shared with the present day Sessrumnir.

The answer is a star,” he finally said. He’d given the other man time to figure things out, but since he was stuck on a moon as the answer -- which didn’t shine, it reflected light from the sun and stars -- then Sessrumnir would do what he could to keep them protected.

A star would always shine. Moons had too many variables, such as objects moving between it and the source of light that made it visible during the night, or day.

“If you’ve never seen it before, I’ll have our Mauvian send you some pictures of Earth’s moon during the day,” he offered with a small nod.

Super Sailor Selinur

His focus swung from the orb to his fellow ancient and he took amoment to ponder things, it was possible he was wrong. There were areas he could be wrong, different words used on different planets and how they defined things. That was one thing he still had issues with on Earth...the meanings of words being different from one groupp of people to another or from Earth to his own planet and between Earth and other places. Semantics was a way to play with words and something he liked in all honesty, he had every reason to enjoy word play, but not when it was in a situation like this where a correct answer was needed and it seemed to hinge on how to figure things were meant.

"I offer up moon for an answer - you can offer starlight if you want. With any hope it'll offer another hint and we can widdle our options down. I do think the fact it used a singular term does hold some weight in the answer we give. Otherwise it could have used a collective term...a we instead of an I. Starlight would be a singular term so that would be more likely than stars. You are right in that moons reflect but it does depend on if the people here would have still thought of it as a shine and not a reflection." People still used the word moon light on Earth even though it didn't produce light, unlike stars, it was simply how people spoke and the terms they used for things.

"Offer your best answer and I offer mine - we each offer an answer and see what it does. We weren't told we'd be punished for a wrong answer. We can hope that means this'll continue till we get it correct...no punishment incured." A glance to the knight and he shook his head. "I hunt chaos at night - I've seen the moon of Earth's." But for him it was a matter of what words would poeople have used, words held power and would they use reflect or shine to describe it.

A star though as the answer. But which one? Or just not any particular one but just a star. The answer was there, offered up for the orb by the knight, but he wasn't to sure on it. Starlight seemed the better of the two options to him, though he didn't mention that, as he glanced back to the orb to see what it would do with the offerings.

Procyon, Senshi of Liminality

Procyon had stayed quiet at first as he took a look over everything, this felt similar to what he'd helped with before in the sky ward of this planet but the riddle this time felt different. He'd followed Selinur since they were the only one he really knew but at the same time, he did wave a small greeting towards the others in the room with them.

Piping up as the debate over the answer started, he felt that his friend Selinur might be wrong. "Stars sound right, I noticed that during the daytime I can't see them from the rooftops on Earth. Back home things were a bit different but if Urania is similar to Earth then I think that is the answer."

"I don't think the moon shines either, maybe... reflects is the word I think? I'm still learning about the things on Earth though."
Tilting his head into his hand, his ears flopped to that same side as he thought over the books he'd been reading lately. There was so much to sift through and he really did need to talk to more of the senshi and knights that were from Earth.

Alastor, Eternal Senshi of Despair

Absentmindedly, instinctively, Alastor brushed his arm against Sessrumnir’s. He glanced at him from the corner of his eye, but even without much scrutiny he was certain he could feel the emotions radiating off of him.

Alastor himself remained calm, or at least appeared to. He’d always been good at hiding his emotions, but now there was something a little more easy-going about him. He’d been certain the answer lay amongst the stars before, and with the second clue it only reassured him.

He considered Selinur’s argument but the other Senshi had insisted he offer his best answer, so Alastor stuck with his gut and echoed, “A star,” with a faintly apologetic look towards him.

The unknown Senshi with Selinur (Procyon) did not appear human, and Alastor was naturally interested. Even if Alastor could pass for one from Earth, he felt an instinctive kinship with those who were born to another world. His mind was made up on the riddle so it granted a small room for distraction. “Where is home for you? If you don’t mind me asking. I’m from Alastor,” he introduced; while powered, he shared a name with his world, and he showed only pride when he said it. Alastor itself had a bloody history, mired in war and conquest, but he’d worked hard to create a new legacy for it.

A shame that Chaos stole the opportunity from him, but he was still trying to rebuild it. He wasn’t giving up on his world.

He wanted all who suffered under Chaos to have the chance to do the same.

The dark past of his world and its previous senshi went unknown to most, if not all, Senshi born of Earth, but he was not always so lucky with those of other worlds. As a precaution, he was always a bit more gentle and friendly upon introductions with anyone who seemed more familiar with the greater universe.

Sessrumnir, Knight of Jupiter

On any other occasion, Sessrumnir probably wouldn’t have cared.

He and Alastor could handle any fight. They’d faced off against Chaos that tried to trick them as each other. They’d faced raging currents of water and held back fire itself. They could handle some Chaos infused fog. There was no nightmare Sessrumnir hadn’t already dreamed. There was likely no nightmare worse than what Alastor had already experienced. They were both covered in scars, but instead of shying away and staying home, they arrived ready to rid Urania of the Chaos possessing it.

On any other occasion, Sessrumnir would have disagreed but not made any effort to argue.

But his and Alastor’s sons were there, in another room, also trying to answer riddles and break down the Chaos that plagued this world. He didn’t have time or patience when others could be in danger. No, Amarynthos wasn’t technically his son, but he’d been in his life since the boy was in diapers. He was quickly growing into a man, but that didn’t break the bond Sessrumnir felt for him.

However, his bristling irritation was at least momentarily quelled when Alastor’s arm brushed against his.

He clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth and closed his eyes so he couldn’t unintentionally glare at Alastor as he tried to settle himself.

Arms crossed over his chest, he did open his eyes once again after a few moments, and nodded to the other Senshi (Procyon).

“Earth has been getting a lot of visitors lately,” he commented, although he meant nothing negative by it. It was just an observation.

Super Sailor Selinur

Well, that answered the issue of singular vs. pluaral tgerms for him. It was one of many so it was singular but there was a plural for it. He had been wrong but he knew why he'd been wrong, he didn't even care that the little fluffy ancient next to him had answered differently from himself.

"A star, I'll go with that as an answer." Because with the new clue that was the answer. He was hoping this would be the only riddle, as it had been the last time he'd helped on this planet, but if it was there would be something more. It couldn't be this simple, nothing was ever so easy and simple to achieve...not if it meant something anyway. Watching the orb he wondered what would come next, once the last in the room gave an answer.

A glance to Procyon after a moment of orb watching, because hd didn't trust much of anything especially when it came to chaos. "We'll make it past this test. Let's see what it throws at us next." Because there would be more, and he was expecting the worse. He'd survived how much already though? He was certain he could handle whatever it would throw next.

The sphere sputtered a bit as Selinur’s answer was changed, but it seemed to register the new answer. Then it relied to everyone.

To Sessrumnir: Correct.

To Procyon: Correct.

Alastor: Correct.

To Selinur: Correct.

The stars on the sphere begin to shine. The fog clears and so does the feeling of Chaos. You can now leave the room.

The planetarium is now active!

Procyon, Senshi of Liminality

Relief came when Selinur agreed to go with everyone else's answer, mostly because he couldn't be sure what might have happened to them if they were the odd one out.

Perking up as the other senshi questioned him, Procyon smiled as he responded. "I'm from Procyon mostly, seventy-five percent or so I would say." It was an interesting thing he thought, that at least part of him was from a completely other world thanks to a friend of his. It had made his life a bit easier as he laced his fingers together, both organic and inorganic.

Either way, the words came brightly as he nodded to the other (Sessrumnir) beside Alastor. "I think it's rather nice there, even if I'm not used to being on land. I really wish there was more water. That and cats, I'd never seen such pleasant creatures before." He'd seen the reservoir and it wasn't the greatest compared to what he knew but meeting Illyria had been a high point of things so far.

"I'm glad we all got it right though, hopefully, everyone else did okay in the other rooms." Chaos could be unpredictable and even if he didn't really know many of the others, he did hope everyone made it out okay. It might get harder but there were enough people here that Urania didn't have to go it alone at least.

"Let's head on through then, back to the other room to regroup?" Moving along, he paused a moment to poke Selinur to get them moving as well. It would be best to stick together, at least in case a fight broke out since they'd helped him out before. Riddles and puzzles were more Procyon's speed so he needed help when it came to fighting.
