xxxThanks to the odd combination (in her words) of her mother and father, Melody is 3/4 Vietnamese and 1/4 Chinese. Though her mother is full Vietnamese, her father was born to a Chinese mother and Vietnamese father.
Scent/Perfume:
xxxA gentle, soothing blend of cherry blossom, white sandalwood and star anise.
Fashion:
xxxMelody's closet has shifted to more muted clothing, more practical. Capri pants, boot cut jeans, long and loose tank tops usually layered with shorter ones or sports bras and corset tops. Every now and again she can be seen in dresses and skirts, but not so much these days. Her outfits are usually paired with flats, heels, or sandals. She still has the necklace and anklet given to her by her cousin, but she's also added a silver g-clef ring to her accessories. Occasionally she switches out the necklace from Monroe to a choker made of fabric that comes together into two wings, a cherry blossom dangling in the space where they meet.
Looks:
xxxMelody has pale blonde and long hair, to the point it drags on the ground if she leaves it down. Though she is trying to pull herself away from the childish pigtails, she still often wears them as it's almost habit to wear them. Until she finds a style she likes better she may just be stuck with them. Her eyes are wide and brown, very expressive though these days there's a constant gentleness to her eyes. They fit surprisingly well on her face, which is thin though elegant and oval in shape with a rounded nose and full lips. Melody is 5'6" and willowy in frame. Though she has lost some of her thinness to muscle building, she still manages the slenderness and gracefulness of her youth. She is avarage in the "asset" department.
Hobbies:
Cello:
xxxFrom the time she was young, Melody seemed to have a penchant for music. It started with a preference for classical music that slowly grew into wanting to play a musical instrument and a promise to stick to it. How could her parents say no, when music seemed to be calling to her? After testing several instruments she chose the cello, liking the sound it made. Taking to it quickly what surprised people most was the sound she produced.
Every note she played, every sound created with each passing of the bow, sounded as if she was pulling the music from her very soul. Not even classical pieces that had taken her months to learn are safe. Her emotions seem to influence the music as well. When she's happy the sound is peaceful and warm, when she's sad the music is enough to make a grown man cry. Indifference makes the music cold and unfeeling and anger produces a noise that grates the ears and causes pain.
Ten years later she's keeping that promise, practicing away at the large spruce and willow stringed instrument when she isn't on patrol or searching for a job.
And while she adores playing classical pieces, any and all that she can get her hands on, Melody likes to make her own pieces as well. She has several hidden away in a trapper keeper that she's written during very emotional times in her life. So far no one has yet to see the sheet music.
Running:
xxxA habit that she picked up in college, it soon became a hobby of sorts. A run first thing in the morning, a run at night while she's on patrol, Melody has found a love for the wind against her skin and in her hair. Even more so when she can power up and her speed is improved.
It makes for a great stress relief and has given her quite the leg muscles, it'll come in handy should she ever find a battle she needs to run from.
Aikido:
xxxA happy accident that, again, happened in college. Perhaps it was the senshi part of her she had locked away reaching for a way to protect herself, it seemed like the perfect martial art for such a pacifist. The perfect balance of self-defense and protecting the one attacking.
In college she took classes every day she could, even for just an hour if she had to, she had a lot to learn in the last year she would be the area. Now she takes classes three days a week at a place she managed to find in Destiny City to keep up with lessons. Her goal is to, eventually, go up through kyu but isn't sure if she'll go through dan.
Virtues:
Compassion:
xxxWhile she may not know every one, or be known by everyone, her compassion for others is widely known. Always one for helping others she becomes a friend when others need one. She will listen when ears are needed, forgive mistakes when no one else will, Melody just seems to understand the situation and helps in any way she can. Even if it's just by giving you kind words or a shoulder to cry on.
Gentleness:
xxxNot one for the harshness of the world around her, everything she does is soft and gentle. From the way she holds her books, to the way she speaks and even how she treats others, she is gentle and caring. She'll not raise her voice and will try to talk things out verbally.
Pacifism:
xxxAll life is precious and Melody's goal is to protect it all. Even those who would kill others. Stemming from her gentle nature, she would much rather find a peaceful resolution through talk and mediation then to have to resort to fighting. Especially with so much of it going on as it is.
She has come to terms with the fact that in order to achieve peace there must be war, even if she doesn't like it. She just has to find a way to show the world the best way to achieve that peace.
Flaws:
Idealism:
xxxWhat first seems as only child-like innocence is simply Melody choosing to see the world through rose-tinted glasses. While she understands violence happens, she refuses to believe that people could be so willing to do such a thing and that there must be a reason. There are no such thing as bad cops or evil, it's all just misunderstandings and all that is needed is to show these misunderstood people some compassion.
Determined:
xxxMelody has become bull headed in her returned to senshidom and it's bleeding into her every day life. She's set herself on a path and she's determined to get there no matter the cost. She refuses to let any one sway her from her decisions and that is that. And while she may not raise her voice, she definitely isn't afraid to argue her points.
She definitely refuses outright to believe that the world is inherently evil and that nothing she does can change it. She might even "fight" to defend her views, no matter the side the person is on.
Self-sacrificing:
xxxThere's a need to protect everyone and everything, no matter how insignificant or evil they may be. In her mind no one is more important than anyone else and everyone deserves a chance to live. And, in her mind, she will do whatever she can to make sure that happens.
Even if the cost could become her life.

Linh-Nguyet Klein (45): xxxA high leveled CEO of a law firm in Destiny City, Melody's mother is a sweet Vietnamese woman who has doted on (and will continue to do so) her daughter. It's hard not to when she is ever so proud of her nearly prodigal child and was really the one to talk her husband into getting Melody the cello. Or so she says.
Though she means well when it comes to her daughter, Linh comes off as very snooty and tends to look down on those in lower positions then she. As a woman who, despite being born into money, worked hard to get to where she is she feels that a lot of people just need to work harder. Melody has been on the recieving of this same thought process growing up, in regards to schooling and cello practice. Though she does love to spoil her daughter almost mercilessly, to Melody's embarrassment.
Since her daughter's return from college, Linh has tried to move to working from home but it's easier said then done these days. She's a little disappointed that her daughter didn't continue to major in music but is happy to have her home again. She's struggling to accept that Melody might not remain living in their home and even has a job but a mother has to let go at some point, right?Alexander Jianyu Klein (43):xxxUnlike his wife, Mr. Klein works from home as a journalist for one of the many newspapers in Destiny City. He's also half Chinese, half Vietnamese and was raised by Chinese-Americans in Destiny City where he met his wife. He speaks near perfect English with a hint of his original Chinese accent still lingering and speaks near fluent Vietnamese and Chinese as well.
Happily arguing with his wife that it was he who talked she into buying their little girl her first cello, Alex loves to playfully banter with his wife and Melody is often the "source". Or, at the least, how to raise her. He is definitely the less strict of the two and prefers to let Melody make her own choices in life. He thinks it's because he worked towards the life of money instead of being born to it like Linh.
He, too, is glad to have his little girl back home and is proud for all that she's done for herself. He's even insisted that she not really need to find a job, they can definitely take care of her, but since she insists he won't stop her.Monroe Klein (27): xxxMonroe and Melody didn't use to have a good relationship, as he was a bit of a tormentor in her early life and the cause of her previous "adversion" to blood and violence. As they got older they seemed to get on better to the point he helped move her into Barren Pines. They didn't really visit until that late Christmas dinner after the whole affair. Since then they've been getting closer and she tends to think of him more as a big brother then an annoying pest. He'd even started taking her to the botanical garden he'd gotten a job at, spoiling her immensely while she was in town.
He's been immensely proud of her for going off and doing something for herself, even though he'd been a s**t when younger, he'd been trying to look out for her as he got older. He was actually the first one she talked to about not finishing her major and he supported her whole-heartedly. He's a regular visitor at the bathhouse she works at. Ca-Mai Sang (deceased): xxxGranny Sang, called Gran by most of the grandchildren, was the most influential person in Melody's life. Having spent so many summers with the elder woman, even when she was but a tiny thing, it was through her that Melody learned the passion for classical music. She was a lot closer with her Grandmother, who didn't try to make her change who she was, then her mother (despite loving the woman dearly) and was very upset when the woman passed away not long after Melody's tenth birthday.
It was after her death and during the grieving/mourning process that Melody learned to turn her emotions into songs. These pieces are very personal and important to Melody, something she doesn't really show off to others. She's starting to slowly show off her music though it's fe and far between.Home is a large house that could easily be a small mansion, and according to Melody's mother it may as well be. It's large and spacious regardless, with several large rooms that are kept up with by maids. Melody's room is too large for her tastes, but in a way that's a good thing as she has a very large and very round bed that she absolutely adores and is covered in pillows.
Recently she's painted the room a pale pink color, to finally give it some color, and added a canopy topping to her bed. It's pink in color and she, with help from Monroe, added white lights to it so it lights up at night. She's even got some plants on her balcony from the botanical garden, thing she knows she can take care of, to give her room some life.

The sweet, delicate scent of cherry blossoms accompanies them to their target as they collide in a soft flurry of harmless "snow" and serves as a distraction as well as slowing the foe down. Quick as the petals make contact, they wither away and are gone, the scent with them.

As with her previous attacks, Lacrimosa cups her hands and creates the blossoms needed for her attack. A gentle kiss is pressed to a petal before she blows on it, sending it to her target. This time the [Yaezakura] blossoms have more petals then the previous blossoms and begin in a deep and vivid shade of pink. At close range the scent of the blossom is almost overpowering and the wind swirls the rapidly dividing petals at the enemy.
As the storm of petals and fragrance surround the target, it feels as if they are being cut (though no damage actually occurs). Each "cut" that lands on the target brings with it the feeling of gentle sadness and the reminder that all things end eventually. Once the petals are pure white they whither and fall to the ground, the scent dissipating seconds later.
Fifteen foot range in front of Lacrimosa, primarily in a cone. Attack lasts for 30 seconds. Can be used only once.
