When one was talented in the musical arts one usually had some appreciation for those who started the music industry. It was usually in the lines of what musical talent one had, though that didn't mean music students didn't go dabbling about in other music sections for their appreciation or sources of inspiration or even just information period. This was an area that Melody fit in quite well, as she didn't have just a love for the cello or other strings, but music in general be it singing or using an instrument.

She didn't even have a love for one style of music but all, though she was iffy on the rap scene, and as such had a tendency to constantly read up on other types of music. Which was why she was in the bookstore wondering around like a lost little animal who didn't know what she was looking for or where it would be.

It was obvious she didn't usually enter such a place as a book store, not that she didn't read mind you, and she was beginning to wonder why she had decided to come here in the first place. Maybe she needed to get out more after all.

Emmeline had arrived in this store not long after it had opened, as she had decided it would be better to spend the day there than at home where her dad had been rampaging. It was starting to get around that time of year when he had a lot of deals on the line and therefore was completely focused on his job. This made it very easy for Emmy to sneak about without worrying about lectures. Unless she out right disturbed him, then she would be in major trouble.

Today she sat on the floor of her favorite book store in the area, surrounded by piles of mystery and adventure novels. There may have been a couple romance ones hidden amongst the others, but there would be no way to tell by just glancing. There didn't seem to be any method of order in the stacks either, or at least that any other person could see. Emmy was barely visible, except for her hair sticks and a bit of her hair. One might think there was a new shipment of books just laying about waiting to be sorted on their respective shelves.

Seeing this pile of books made her wonder exactly that and she neared them. The tuft of hair, and really pretty hair sticks, alerted her to some one being with those piles of books and hoped that maybe the form could help her find what she was looking for? Stopping a decent distance away, she let out a small cough and a pretty smile.

"U-um, excuse me." Her voice was soft, very indoor and gentle. "I hope I'm not interrupting anything but perhaps you can help me? I'm looking for your books on music?"

The figure behind the stacks turned and lifted herself so only her eyes and above could be seen. She disappeared, then stood fully, placing the book she was reading on one of the stacks. "Music books...music books..."

Emmy tapped her finger on her lip and climbed over one of the shorter stacks. She walked over to the girl, grabbed her hand and lead her closer to the back of the store where they climbed the three step stair case to the raised level. Her eyes darted back and forth before they stopped. With a big smile and happy gasp she placed the girls hand right on where the section started. "I knew they were back here~! Its been awhile since I've been here, so I thought the old man might have moved them. I suppose luckily for you he didn't, or unlucky because we could have had a small expedition on our hands. It's really how you choose to look at it."

She'd been surprised by the sudden appearance of eyes that disappeared almost as soon as she caught sight of them. Then a girl was replaced with the eyes and she wasn't able to get a good look at her until the other female climbed over some of the books and grabbed a hold of her hand. A light flush of color painted itself across the blonde's cheeks and she followed behind the other with little choice.

The girl leading her was rather cute, making her almost wish she found the same sex attractive in that way, and the large smile she gave as they reached the section she had been looking for only helped to enhance that. The smile on her pale painted lips, a pale pink color today as opposed to her usual pale yellow, grew to match the other's.

"Thank you very much for helping me," she replied, bowing slightly and causing the rather long and fluffy pigtails to shift over her shoulder. "I'm afraid this is the first time in a long time I've been to a book store. I would have searched for hours." Ah Barren Pines, and the year it had stolen from her, how she loathed thee.

"Not a problem at all!" Her voice had such a ring of happiness to it, like this was the best thing that had ever happened to her. "I'm glad I could help. Afterall, what good would the hours that I spend here be if I couldn't be of any use to anyone."

She gave a giggle and held out her hand. "Emmeline Watson. Adventure expert. Chances are if you've seen it in this city, I've gone through it with a fine toothed comb. And if its somewhere I haven't, I can assure you I soon will."

Oh this girl was too precious and her mother would adore her. Maybe not the adventuring bit, but it was hard to tell her mother's tastes any more. If nothing else she'd probably like the girl because she didn't seem to have the same "weird" fashion tastes, a giggle was smothered at that thought.

"Hours spent here would be a use to you, even if you can't help others." Taking the girl's hand in her own, which felt odd as her rings were missing and she needed new ones, she gave it a gentle shake. "I'm Melody Klein, an avid fan of music?" There was a slight tone of embarrassment to her voice following the uneasiness of having to give herself a title.

"I'm a fan of music any and all, honestly, and reading up on it helps to pass the time away. But it's been so long since I was last in a book store, any of them, I can't recall where any of the music books are. Not surprising, I guess, when a year of your life goes missing."

A year of her life? How could that have happened? Perhaps a grizzly car accident which caused a coma, or some government facility did experiments on her and wiped her memory. Emmy knew she had to investigate this further. "I enjoy music a lot too, though I am not so good at playing. I try to leave the making of it to those who know what they are doing. I don't think the composers would like it if I butchered their pieces beyond recognition."

"So...you said a year of your life went missing...if you don't mind me asking, what happened? I don't mean to pry," She totally did,"But its not everyday you hear about something like that happening. Atleast I don't anyway."

"Maybe I could help you learn? Granted I know only how to play the cello... But I know-" Pausing, a frown marred her features as she realized what she had wanted to say was no longer true. Though it was a great lead into her next question and how to answer it.

"Ah, correction. I used to know people who could play other instruments, however I no longer remember their names." And then another pause. "It's not prying, only curiosity. There's no need to apologize."

But how to answer the question with out seeming like she was a total nut job? There was the million dollar question. "As for the answer... Well truth be told I don't remember exactly what happened. The news says it was an organ traffic ring but that doesn't sound right at all. Especially because what I do remember was going to a new school, my best friend even went. But apparently those of us who went to this school were involved in an organ trafficking ring and only a few of us made it out alive..."

And damn if she still didn't feel guilty about that.

Organ trafficking? Only some of them survived....? She had heard her father mentioning something about organs one morning at breakfast, but she wasn't quite paying enough attention to hear any details. Perhaps she should listen a little more closely from now on. "Oh...wow...I don't even really know what to say. I suppose the proper response would be to say that I am deeply sorry for the loss of your memories, and I assume, some of your friends."

Emmy rubbed the back of her neck with a slightly distressed look upon her face. "I'm sorry, its probably not very easy for you to talk about. I'm not very good with lines of comfort when its comes to...people. I tend to be slightly anti-social, though not always completely by choice."

She paused for a moment, and tried her best to smile as brightly as possible. "Well, if you ever want to talk about it I'll always listen. That's what friends are for right? At least I hope I can call you a friend."

Immediately Melody shook her head and gave a smile to try and ease away the distressed look on the other's face. "No, it's okay. Really. I mean... I won't lie and say it doesn't suck to forget a year's worth of memories, to forget people I knew. But..."

Well, to be honest there wasn't much she could do. No one knew anything, no one could say anything if they did and whining and bitching about it wouldn't change what had happened. Gently she took Emmy's hand and held it between her own, her smile growing with a sense of joy and serenity she hadn't felt since seeing Ignacio and meeting Azzo.

"But I'm sure I'll remember one day! And when I do I can apologize to those I've forgot and make things right." She seemed so hopeful, so sure. Boy it would suck if she were wrong. Blinking, the blonde's smile seemed to grow slightly and her cheeks flushed.

"A-ah... You.. want to be friends with me? E-even if we've just met?"
PostPosted: Thu Apr 01, 2010 1:13 pm

"Why of course silly! Who wouldn't want to be friends with you? You seem to be so nice." It was as though Emmy was full of endless smiles. She just couldn't help it. It was impossible for her to hide any form of happiness that she was experiencing at any given time.

Emmy disappeared for a moment back to where her stack of books were, and returned almost as quickly as she had vanished. In her hand was a small white card with silver lining and small black letters. On it was her full name, a cell number and a home number. She placed it into Melody's hand, and closed it around the card. "Give me a call k? We'll get coffee or find a creepy house to look through."

The sound of a car honking echoed through the shop, and that was her signal that her time was over with her new friend. At least for now anyway. With a giggle and a wave Emmy was skipping to the car waiting for her outside. She was quite sure that her phone would be ringing very soon with promises of more good moments with her new friend.

Mel's cheeks burned brightly, brown eyes watching as her friend left for just a moment. Aside from Ignacio, and maybe Azzo, she didn't really have any other friends that she could remember and so the prospect of having one made her heart swell. Boy would her mother be pleased to hear that!

When the other girl returned with a card, said card was placed in her hand and the blonde nodded. "Yes, of course!" She'd program the numbers into her cellphone later.

Her excitement was cut short by the sound of a car and soon enough Emmy was leaving. Waving farewell herself, she waited until her new friend was out of sight before she turned to find section that had been pointed out to her. She would definitely have to give the dark haired girl a call some time.

"Now, about those books..." came the near-silent murmur as she moved to through the store.
