It was just after twelve noon and Mason Everheart (Mason Theodore Everheart, he would correct if anyone asked him) could be found in a Vietnamese restaurant. Ordering food. Actually pretty much everyone in the restaurant was either ordering food or eating. But Mason was doing it differently. "Yes," he began. "Can has banh bao?" Unfortunately he couldn't spell incorrectly while he was speaking. "Also all your cha gio are belong to us - uh, I mean me. Yeah."
The waitress stared at him. He smiled up at her almost angelically. "In your restaurant eating your fuds," he reminded her. He had never had the occasion to practice lolcat-speak previously, and while he didn't expect to land any roles that involved it - well, it was fun. And fun was what counted.

"Mr. Everheart," a soft voice spoke behind the boy speaking some ungodly form of ridiculous speech. "Will you please hurry up and finish placing your order? I have a lot of homework left to do still, and my cello to practice some time before bed. I would enjoy getting my meal sometime tonight."
If anyone else from Barren Pines were around they'd find a rather agitated Melody Klein standing behind the rather amused teen. Dressed in a knee high skirt and long button up shirt, she looked as if she'd been held up in her room all day, despite the insane amount of bright make up and jewelery she wore. One hand rested on her hip and she found herself glad she was a pacifist. Even when hungry.

He did not recognize the voice behind him (well, okay, he kind of knew it. From somewhere. Possibly school. Other than restaurants like this, out-of-the-way jewelry stores, and the stage, he spent most of his time at school. And most people that hung out at the first three places didn't play cello. So ha!). He rolled her eyes at the girl. "Well, if it gets in the way of your cello practice I won't disturb you." Cellos looked like they hurt when people hit him with them. And he knew from experiences that cello cases did hurt.
"Banh bao and cha gio - also iced tea, please," he said quickly to the lady who was serving him. It was not good to get on the bad side of a cello player. He already had to watch out around Lucy. He paid for the order and quickly stood off to the side to wait. And also to watch Melody place her own. Because someone dressed like that couldn't possibly be boring. "Do I remember you?" he asked her as he did so, just to give him an excuse to stand right next to her. "I mean, um - y halo thar." He pronounced it how it was spelled.

"You should really watch how you speak to people, Mr. Everheart. I've seen you meet the wrong ends of a cello case and it looks quite painful." She, herself, was never one to do such a thing as violence was wrong and often made her ill.
When he finished his order she placed hers, and order of bun cha, bi cuon and a delicious strawberry sinh to. Paying, she turned to stand out of the way for the next person only to squeak in alarm as she ran into him. When in the world had he moved so close to her?!
"Hello, Mr. Everheart. Could you please move a bit so I can stop blocking the line?" Still her voice was soft and sweet, very gentle and well suited for her elegance. Well, if one could get past her odd state of fashion.

"Yeah, it - you saw that? Man, I gots to blend in. Mo-ar." She must've been a very quiet person. Which reminded him he still hadn't invested in a cello case. This was A Crime. They looked cool and you could carry your groceries in them! "Where do you buy cello cases, anyway?" Mason was curious. Actually he was curious about a lot of things, but recently he was into cellos. Probably because recently he was also running into a lot of cellists at the restaurants he frequented. (Two was a lot, for a couple of days!)
He moved, bowing elegantly at the teenager. "No problemo." He tried to think of a lolcat saying to go with this (he was kind of a noob at the internet. And also at macros.). After about fifteen seconds' silence he gave up. He couldn't remember any (and he'd spent two hours at the library memorizing them, too!).

"Cello cases can be bought at a music store," she replied with a soft, gentle voice. In fact, if one watched her, she seemed to scream gentle and soft. Other then that she seemed to exude elegance that was untelling if it was natural or came from just her willowy build. "I'm almost afraid to know why you're asking..."

"Oh - I'm not gonna do anything dangerous, if that's what you're wondering," Mason grinned. "Are you always this quiet?" He asked suddenly, changing the subject easily. He liked changing the subject. It kept people on their toes.
The girl was cute. "Oh, and hey - I'm not sure if I caught your name?" He frowned. "Also do you know anything about lolcats? Because I am running out of lines and that is never, ever cool."

"I never said you were going to do anything dangerous. Personally I don't see how you could turn a cello case into something dangerous if you spend your time speaking in this.... "lolcat" speak.." Her voice was calm and gentle, her words meaning no real harm. It was more of an observation from her point of view. Or rather just her point of view from what little she knew of him.
"Besides dangerous usually coincides with violence and I want nothing to do with violence. It's wrong." And tended to make her ill. quickly she turned her thoughts to more pleasant things as she wanted to still be hungry for the food she just ordered.

"Well I don't spend all my time using lolcat speak! I only learned what it was three hours ago," Mason defended. "I also, you know. Sing. Dance. Practice my lines." He thought. He also did character study, but some people were a little freaked out by it. Frankly the teen had no idea why - it was perfectly normal to watch people. He did it all the time.
Which did not mean that other people had to do it, but there you go.

"Never said you did. But considering you learned about it in three hours then, from what I've gathered, have spent your time since then speaking it, I think it's safe to say you either need better hobbies or belong back with the drama class." She smiled up at him, head cocked to the side just a little bit causing the lights to glint off of her jewelery.
Ah, but that seemed a bit rude to her, tugging on the back of her mind that perhaps her words were not as kind as they should be, despite their gentle tone. "So... You like Vietnamese food?" she asked a bit awkwardly, trying to change the subject. Obviously he liked Vietnamese food if he was here ordering.

Mason shrugged. "Drama is my life," he admitted. "Ever since I was like three or something - I'd play dress-up with my little sister even if it really meant, you know, dressing up because I loved pretending to be someone I wasn't." That wasn't the only reason, but he wasn't going to tell her about how he'd always wanted to make people happy - that just sounded like a line straight out of a shoujo anime. Mason was not a shoujo anime. He wasn't an anime, period - he was live action, thank you very much!
"Vie - oh. Yeah, I guess you could say I like it," he grinned, cocking her head at her. "It's - how do you say it? It's a hobby of mine," Mason winked.

She gave a small laugh, "Vietnamese food is a hobby of yours? Perhaps you need a better one if food is a hobby." She was teasing of course, her father loved Asian foods of all kinds and made it a hobby to study how each one was made and all that such. She didn't understand it, really, but if it made him happy.
"Mmm, but no. I've seen you in plays and such, when I'm doing music for them. You're good." Or so she figured. She had an ear for music, a small eye for art and not a lick of artistic like for acting. Oh acting was good, gave them movies and plays and other some such, but she didn't really know what was good acting and what was bad acting. She'd never mention that to Mason.
"Did you try out for the play?"

"Well, it's not the food that's the hobby, really - but the food's a plus, I assure you!" He grinned. "You always meet interesting people in restaurants, after all." Well, in Mason's case he really just watched them. Inconspicuously (really!). "I'll assume you like it?" Mason was not one really made for assuming, but she'd said her order as if she knew what she was talking about; as if she was used to it. She had to like Vietnamese food to order it often, right?
"Thank you!" Mason grinned, bowing. "I'd like to hear you play solo sometime too - if you've got the time." He did mean it. He liked to experience new things, even if he didn't hold interest in them for very long.
"I did, of course! For King Charles. Did you, you know - at least try out for the orchestra, if not a role?"

"Actually my family eats Vietnamese foods all the time, it's really all my mother knows how to cook." Another polite smile thrown his way. "As for playing for you, I can let you know when my next practice session is so you can come listen, if you'd like."
A few of the waitresses came out with trays to take care of those in the booths and she moved out of the way, trying to figure out how to keep out of their way and out of the way of those ordering take out. She didn't usually show up when it was so busy.
"King Charles? Do you really think you'll get the part for such an important character?" If only because she was sure so many others would try out, he was good but was there some one better then he? "Sadly, no. I didn't get a chance to get down there."

"You don't look Vietnamese in the slightest, though!" Mason turned to the girl with a cocked head. "And I would definitely appreciate that, my dear."
"Who knows? I always audition for the part with the most soliloquies, so really that was all my reasoning - or at least, it sounds like he'd have a lot of soliloquies, anyway. Besides I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who auditioned for him." The reasoning was a little flawed - of course Miss Johnson could assign the role to someone that hadn't tried for it, and she was new so she didn't quite know just how awesome Mason was. The boy edged closer to Melody - it really was a pity that she hadn't tried out. It would've been nice knowing she was there - he was fairly sure he'd seen Lucy among the auditions, even. "Let's take a seat...somewhere," he added, noticing her discomfort while dodging the waitresses.
"So are you headed anywhere after this?"
