The inevitable had happened. She couldn't tell you the date or time, not now, but it had finally happened and she could have sworn that her heart had stopped in that moment. Ignacio's mother had finally called to ask if Melody had seen her son.
There had been much confusion when she had received the call, what did she mean had she seen Ignacio? Wasn't he at home like he was supposed to be? No, of course not. He’d been gone since back during the winter months. And with that the first thing she felt was anger. Ignacio had lied to her! It suddenly made so much sense, his weirdness when she gave him his Christmas present, and how she couldn't get in touch with him. But still anger was prevalent, he had lied to her! Her best friend and closest thing to a sibling had lied to her and she felt crushed.
It faded quickly when she could hear Raina's sniffling, the poor girl probably clinging to her mother and trying not to cry. Anger became heartbreak and worry, they had to be going insane with worry. She'd been worried for some time now, wondering where he had disappeared to and why he hadn't tried to keep in touch with her. But getting back into the groove of school after Barren Pines was hard for him, especially with his dad breathing down his neck, so she figured he'd just been too busy for her. It was bound to happen eventually, their going separate ways in life.
It was hard to tell her "mother" that no, she hadn't seen her son since she gave him a Christmas present and that she didn't know where he was. She could feel the worry and fear over the phone, could hear Raina's cries grow louder. Her heart felt it might break and she quickly had to find a way to ease their minds. It was possible he was staying with a friend. She remembered hearing something about him making good friends with some one at his school, she could try checking it out.
And then there was the promise of finding him. She would do it, even if she had to comb through Destiny City to do so, she'd find him. But it wasn't her job!, his mother admonished as she held back tears. She shouldn't have to clean up after Ignacio's messes. Melody could only smile, just a small one though, and tell her that she'd done so before and she'd do it again. Ignacio was her best friend and she'd gladly clean up his messes, because if he had messes to clean up then he was alive and safe.
There had been tears when she had hung up her cell phone, probably worrying Esen as she came in. Tears of anger, worry and fear. And a promise to herself that she'd beat his a** for being such a dummy. He was going to get such an earful when she found him.
"If I find him," a henshined up Melody murmured to herself from her perch up high on one of Destiny City's many buildings. Shaking her head, the pink-clad senshi smacked her cheeks slightly and puffed out air. "Get it together girl! You will find him, and when you do you'll drown him in petals for the worry he's caused!"
Nodding to herself, a firm action of resolution, Lacrimosa sucked in a deep breath and puffed it out, before turning her brown eyes back to the streets of the city below. She'd been doing much more patrolling since that call, cutting into sleep and practice, just so she could find him. As a protector of the city it was her job to make sure the people in it were safe from the horrors of the Negaverse. As Ignacio's "sister", it was her job to make sure his family didn't suffer any more because of his stupidity. That he not suffer any more because of his stupidity.
"I'll clean up your messes any day, as long as you're safe and alive."
And for a moment, just a moment, her heart hurt with something more then just worry for him.
