English class was one of Melody's better classes, one she had an easier time following despite the massive amounts of text they could (and often did) study. But it was more fun then math class and all those equations, and history class was just a bunch of stuff they'd covered since elementary school so there was no real point to paying attention. Okay, so more specifically it was English literature class and they were currently reading the play about Julius Ceasar.

Or they had been. The teacher had surprised them by saying they'd be splitting off into groups to do a project on what they had read so far and the rest of the class immediately broke apart to find some one to pair with. Of course it was easy for them to do as such, considering a lot of the girls knew one another and thus had the home field advantage. Melody seemed to be the odd one out and she let out a sigh as she waited to see who would be left for her to pair up with.

And hopefully they wouldn't mind her 'wild' looks, as some had come to define her make up and brightly colored jewelry. This would certainly be easier if she shared this class with Esen... "C'est la vie," she murmured to herself.

It wasn't the biggest surprise in the world to not be approached by someone in the class to partner up. Some people were okay with working with the blind girl, some weren't, that's all. She could hear the voices of some of the girls that sometimes worked with her, waiting to see if one of them might approach her again. It was neither a blow nor a shock when they went to other friends, though one of them did stop to tap her on the shoulder, "Hey Lil, the new girl doesn't have a partner. Two rows over, three seats back," before continuing on to join her buddy. Lilith in turn gave a grin of thanks before gathering up her rather large book and cane. Didn't matter how short a book might be in regular characters, put it in braille and you got to earn at least some muscles from carrying it around.

She stood and tapped her way over two rows, cane sweeping low to the ground to make sure she tripped over neither book bags or legs, turning once she reached the end and did the same until she arrived to the third seat back from the row in which she sat. Her smile was soft, faintly hesitant as her eye lids covered most of her eyes. She wasn't permitted to wear her sunglasses in class, and thus didn't often open her eyes to their full extent if only to try and not freak someone out as much as possible.

"Pardon me, but are you Melody? I'm Lilith, and... um, if you don't have a partner yet, would you mind working with me?" It took a bit to ask this much of the girl, biting her cheek a bit as she begged the powers that be that she wouldn't be offended or something by her forwardness. Different people viewed her differently, of course... but it still didn't mean she couldn't be cautious of how they'd treat someone who was... very different from them.

Not that she had any idea the girl she was speaking to dealt with similar prejudices herself.

That really was the problem with having such... an 'extreme' choice in one's fashion statement. She couldn't help that she liked the bright colors and the contrasts they caused, it was fun and made her smile when she looked in the mirror. Of course the principle didn't quite like it, so she made sure to tone down the bright accessories. But even still the make-up alone tended to garner her odd looks.

'Though not quite as odd as a walking cane,' Melody thought to herself as brown eyes glanced to the sound of a constant and almost searching tapping sound. One eyebrow was raised curiously as she watched the other girl make her way over but never once did a judging look pass onto her features. Not that the blind girl would ever know.

No, in fact she was more curious as to how she had not heard of a blind girl in the school - and frowned to herself at the fact she hadn't noticed before hand. Sure she was new, but she had been in class for at least a week. Thoughts were jarred as the girl spoke, her voice rather pleasant enough to bring a smile to the blonde's face. And a giggle broke out just seconds after.

"Yes, I am Melody. It's a pleasure to meet you Lilith." And Selene above was that a pretty name! "I would love to work with you, as no one else seems bold enough to work with me."

Melody's voice, when she spoke, was soft and kind. Even as she mentioned no one being bold enough to work with her there were no hints of ill will or other such negative thoughts about the other students. Which, considering Lilith had no idea what her partner looked like, probably confused the blind girl as to why Melody had no partner before hand.

The giggle from the blonde was infectious, though Lilith stuck with just a bright grin for the time being upon hearing the acceptance. It softened for but a moment as she shook her head, very much indeed curious as to why the other girl had no partner yet. She seemed rather nice to her, and as the brunette lowered herself into the empty chair in front of Melody's desk, she could in no way imagine a reason for why she was partnerless. Before now, anyways.

"Perhaps they don't know you well enough yet?" she offered simply, resting her cane against the desk though her mostly hidden eyes remained facing where she believed Melody to be. It might have seemed silly to say such a thing to someone who sounded fine with the whole situation, but it was something she couldn't help. Really, what on earth would cause for such a nice girl to not be bombarded with requests? Sure some of the girls in this school were of the snobby, 'holier than thou' type, but not all. "I would hope it's not just a question of boldness - that would seem quite silly to me, to be honest."

"Perhaps, though I think they find it hard to want to make friends with me to be honest. A lot of people don't like what they think is odd or not the norm, so I can't really blame them."

If their lack of wanting to get to know her bothered Melody in any way, she was really good at hiding it. Her voice was still full of smiles and it's friendly softness. The softness was even in her brown eyes, watching the blind girl as she sat down and got comfortable.

"Though I have to admit I'm a bit surprised you don't all ready have a partner. You seem like such a lovely girl yourself."
