How long had it been since the city woke from it's slumber? Azzo surely didn't know, he was staring at the cinnamon rolls in the window along with cinnamon coffee cake and lots of different other sweet things.
He was hoping Melody would come around, he'd let her know he was going to be out. The cell phone he'd gotten on his birthday was actually kind of handy.
His hands behind his back he was pondering what to order. There were different things, he also was debating about heading towards the little china town district type thing. He sighed it was early in the morning on a Saturday. He didn't want to be caught out late at night as of late, so he'd changed a few things to doing it them in the mornings.

Almost as if on cue, as if his thinking of her had made her materialize, the door opened with a jingle and in walked the Vietnamese blonde. Her hair was done up in it's usual pigtails, one of which she had to brush over her shoulder with nary a passing of her hand it seemed, but her make-up wasn't as strong as it used to be. Brown glanced around a moment before she saw him, eagerly she moved to join his side.
In the process the white heels she wore clacked against the tiled floor, her white and pink skirt rustling against her ankles. Her top was an off the shoulder thing, white in color that seemed to fade to pink at the long sleeves (much like her skirt did). A bright smile twitched at her painted lips.
"I'm surprised you called me," she spoke as she came to a stop. "It was weird having you call me instead of the other way around.

Azzo jumped when she spoke. He'd been lost in thought, pausing to look at her he smiled. "Oh hey."
He shrugged, "I figured we'd turn things around for a change." He said softly as he turned his eyes back to the glass counter. He looked much better than he did, since perhaps the last time she saw him awake.
No longer with heavy shadows under his eyes and an endless tiredness to his face. However he was still jumpy and a bit nervous, but the nightmares weren't as bad and well, something seemed different... Maybe things were actually going to get better. "How've you been?" He asked curiously, he had actually been worried about her while in the nightmare world. It was odd, there'd been so many things that'd happen in so short of a time.
"Want some cinnamon buns? I dunno if it'd brunch for you or breakfast." He chuckled, it was kinda sorta really early in his mind for a Saturday. Which was of course it was only about 9:30 in the morning or so.

"Just like a man," she teased him gently. "Get a girl used to something and then switch it up on her."
But really she was so glad he had managed to wake up, that he seemed to be doing so much better then before. She'd been so worried for him while he'd been back in the hospital. If it hadn't been for her family's own case and her father pushing her to continue going to school, she'd have been a permanent fixture in the hospital.
There were no words to describe her relief when she'd heard he'd woken up.
"Actually, breakfast sounds pretty good. I'd been up all night with homework and sheet music." When he had called her she had just gotten up for the day. "And I've been pretty good. A bit hectic as I struggle with a new schedule.
"Ignacio's not called or seen his own family, let alone me, and his mom and sister are going nuts. I can't tell you how many late nights I've pulled trying to keep Raina from having a mental melt-down on top of homework and trying to locate Ignacio." A sigh of frustration, not even as a senshi had she had any luck! "It's killer trying to sneak out at night to look for him."

Azzo chuckled, "I try hard." He said softly as he nudged her towards the counter, "What do you want?" He asked as he was pondering over what he actually wanted.
Sweets were, well not for breakfast as grams said but they had a pretty decent menu it seemed specially for the mornings. He nodded, "How's the music going?" He asked as he waited for her to decide what she wanted.
He paused when she talked about Ignacio. He suddenly glared at her, "You're sneaking out to find him? Alone?" He asked not looking amused, his voice lowering to keep others from prying. "You know how dangerous it is out there! You shouldn't be going out there, let the police find him."
Azzo looked at her, "I was almost killed out there and yet you go looking for him? I understand he's close to you but Mel, you gotta think about those around you. It won't do good for both of you to end up in the hospital because of a....a.... youma or negaverser." He said.

Her eyes scanned the list, looking to see if they had something specific. When she found it she did a mental cheer, then placed her order happily so. A strawberry smoothie and a piece of Cherry Blossom Strawberry Cheesecake. It was almost scary how much cherry blossoms had found their way into her life.
"Music's going pretty good. Though honestly this latest assignment makes me want to roll my eyes. I could submit some old work and be done with it..." But that seemed like it was cheating so she went about writing a new song.
Then, suddenly, she was being scolded for going out alone and she almost, almost argued back. She had actually opened her mouth to do so then remembered he didn't know she was a Sailor Soldier. Quickly her mouth shut again, listening to him worry about her and her "brother" ending up in the hospital likely due to her negligence. The blonde was this close to spilling the beans to him.
"I know," she tried to soothe. "I know, and I'm sorry. But I-... I just really don't have any other time to do so. I promise I'm careful, and I keep my phone on me at all times so I can call 911 the second I feel I'm in danger."
Way to stick your magical foot in your mouth, Melody.

Azzo watched her place her order looking at the cheesecake with a lofted brow, ordering of that, mainly out of curiosity if it was even good or not, then he also included a large cinnamon roll and a cappuccino.
When he was done with his order and paid for the food they waited for it at the counter off to the side. He nodded, "If you wrote it and it wasn't for another class it'd probably be interesting to see what they say." He gave a soft nod.
He paused when she tried to soothe it. "Look song bird. I don't say no to wanting to do stuff. You know me I've been out there at night before too..."
He paused trying to keep his temper down out of fear that he'd sound like his dad. Which only made him cringe inside. "Swear to me you'll at least call me and let me know before you decide to sneak out and do something stupid like that again?"
He looked at her, "Two of us would be better than just you out there by yourself. Because 911 isn't going to do s**t if you're against a negaverse agent." It was a sad truth, he didn't even remember them grabbing his starseed sans the pain like two ribs broke, or perhaps worse.
"Mel they're fast, you don't understand... you don't want to feel that pain... because that's probably the last thing you will feel." He was keeping his voice low while they were on the topic. He'd let it out that he'd gotten his starseed snatched and was rescued while they were at the mall a few days later with Aurora, he hoped Mel knew that's what he was talking about.

When he called her song bird, Melody's cheek went bright with color and she shyly glanced away for just a moment. She couldn't explain why, but something about that nickname made her heart flutter and she enjoyed every second of it.
And then reality crashed back down around her ears and she sighed. Part of her wanted to say yes, if only to drop the subject. But dragging him out with her, leaving her unable to transform least she spill her secret... Ugh, just thinking about the risk made her heart burn.
Still she reached a hand out for his, eyes soft. "... All right. The next time I sneak out to look for 'Nacio, I'll call you." Her fingertips brushed ever so softly against the skin of his hands. "I'm sorry."

About the time she blushed the tray of food appeared in front of them. He picked up the tray and thanked the servers. "Where do you want to sit?" He asked before turning back to the topic at hand.
He was carrying the tray with one hand actually, something he did almost everyday when at school because in the other there was a puppet or something else entertaining him. Which would probably be a useful talent if he ever held a job waiting tablets. Which is when when Mel reached out for his hand he seemed not to notice it at first.
"Good." He said softly, "I promised your dad I'd keep you safe Mel." He added again, "I'd very much like to keep that promise, it's not like I live that far away from the school in the first place."
He paused, "Couldn't you spend the night at other places on the weekends?" He asked a sudden thought hit him. "You'd be in less trouble sneaking out of say your own house, or if you wanted mine and gram's, than Crystal."
He seemed to have suddenly noticed her hand and quirked a brow for a second unsure of why Mel'd reached for it in the first place. He choose to ignore pointing it out though, trying to keep a serious face. "Gram's probably kill to have another girl hang around... She misses my mom sometimes."

She picked a spot, one of her favourite indoors, and moved to sit since he seemed to have a good handle on the food. It was a window sit, the table a wrought iron design with matching chairs. It's design was so adorable, matching the ones outside where she usually sat after school.
"I know, Azzo. And I'll keep my promise to tell you next time." Except she wouldn't, because she'd be doing it in senshi form. And she wouldn't make the same mistake of telling him she was out after dark again. He couldn't tag along, couldn't take the risk to his health... Couldn't let him find out what she was.
"I go home every other weekend, to appease my mother, so I'm not always at the dorms." Just more often then not. "My mom would probably have a conniption fit if she found out I was staying at your house though. Nothing against your grandmother, you know I adore her, but my mom's been a little... insane since the BP thing, you know? And staying at a boy's house would probably throw her over the deep end."

Azzo set the tray down on the table settling across form Melody.
He nodded, "Good." He seemed satisfied. With a sigh he hummed, handing mel her cheesecake and drink, and sitting the cinnamon bun in between. "Want half?" He asked.
It was after he sat down and grabbed his fork that he paused. Tilting his head he pondered, "What about your father?"
He cut the cinnamon bun in half without waiting for her to answer. "Can't he convince her? She can meet Grams if you'd think it'd help. I can sleep on the couch, I mean it is two stories."
He paused, "Iunno if she'd want to meet me." He muttered taking a bite of the cheesecake.

"Sure, it looks delicious," she replied offhandedly as she took a sip of her smoothie. Such a scrumptious thing those smoothies. It almost rivaled her love for the cheesecake she had ordered. Almost.
"No likely not. She's very stubborn about things like this." She took a bite of the cheesecake and almost did a happily little dance in her seat at the taste of it. Always her mouth seemed in heaven when she had some of the cheese cake. Now if she could just get her hands on some of the Cherry Blossom flavoured Kit Kats.
Then an idea struck and she smiled. "I could always con my cousin into getting him to lie for me~"

Azzo's head tilted. He was eating the cheese cake. "This is an interesting flavor." He said using his fork to poke at the cake when he spoke about it and afterwords dragged over part of the cinnamon bun and sliding the other half to melody.
He pondered, "Would he do that?" He hadn't remembered meeting her cousin. Though he thought he remembered her mentioning him, or that was someone else. There were sometimes too many people to keep track of.
Azzo took a sip of his drink before biting down into the piece of cinnamon bun he kept for himself. "So I'd miss anything interesting while I was asleep?" He asked bringing up the possibly one topic that was the most recent sans Ignaico's disappearance.

"I've seen the recipe for it online, some one made it at home. All they do is add a bit of flavouring to the rest of it as they're making it. It's really good, and adds a nice scent that mixes well with the strawberry." Another bite before she took her half of the cinnamon bun.
"Monroe might, I can always ask him and see what he says." There was no guarantee honestly, but it was always worth a shot. And then he asked the question she almost seemed to dread, not wanting to think back on him in the hospital again.
"... Not really. A lot of the city was down, including my mom and cousin. It was really hard to concentrate at school..."

Azzo tilted his head, "Oh," He said as he continued to eat the cheesecake thinking.
When she said he might Azzo tilted his head, "Well if there's any way he would you'd probably at least love grams when she's not harping on me." He chuckled.
He paused watching her, "Mmm.... I'm sorry about your mom and cousin." He said softly as he dug into the cinnamon bun. "I wonder if they had weird dreams..." He said softly as he thought back on the almost surrealness of the whole ordeal.
