Silver eyes narrowed and he reached over to ruffle her already unruly hair. He knew she was a handful, but some how she'd become a handful he wanted to be responsible for.
"Good," he grumbled, but Mory would probably notice that the way he said it meant that he was pleased, right up until she insisted that she would hit on people for him.
He didn't need anyone to hit on anyone!
Squinting at her, he glanced over at the person she was pointing at. "I don't need to be set up. And I'm indifferent, but not my type." They hadn't had that talk and he'd honestly never expected to have it with her period.
His sexuality was his business and he didn't make it a habit of letting people know. He hooked up with guys from time to time, but it had dwindled drastically since he and Ellis were in a weird limbo relationship.
They weren't together but they weren't not together. It was complicated.
"Is this your way of saying Arthur and I aren't good enough for you?"

Paul Jones
Well ******** him sideways - Noah wanted to eat?
Paul was forced to pause for a moment as he stared over at his taller spouse, then turned his gaze towards the nearby food. There was certainly enough crap to go around for everyone - fruits, vegetables, a carving station, the joint had everything and the kitchen sink, it seemed. Sure, he knew he could make a fool of himself when it came to piling stuff on a plate, but Noah?
Noah?
“This ain’t the spaghetti thing all over again, is it?” He murmured softly, the back of his hand lifting up to press against the younger man’s cheek. He was warm, he didn’t feel like a frigid block of ice and he definitely was keeping his manners in check….
Well he’d be damned. Maybe this sort of thing wasn’t such a stupid idea, after all.
Before allowing him a chance to back down from the suggestion, Paul snatched up two of the available plates and forcibly guided the other man towards the buffet line. Only when they arrived did he release him, offering him a plate before making his way towards the heartier, meat-ier portions of the line.
Akio Yoshida
He watched her as they walked towards the tables, gauging her reaction as she spoke. Aurora seemed a little tense - tenser than she’d been at the last gala they’d attended - but then again without alcohol on their side she probably was feeling like a duck out of water.
“Hey - I’m glad you agreed to come,” he murmured before watching her part. His voice was forced to raise itself to an audible level as he took to the other side of the buffet, sliding down at the same time as her. “You look breathtaking. I mean, dragon princesses should leave their audiences in awe, right?”
His plate was a hodgepodge of everything. Little of this, little of that - there were a few seafood choices that his eyes (and stomach) had been immediately drawn to but he tried not to let any one item dominate his plate, up until the point it was full.
Heading back to their designated table, he refused to let her out of his sight, a soft smile forever playing with the sides of his mouth. Setting the plate down at his place, he moved to pull out the adjacent chair for his date, offering it to her with another flourish of his hand.
“I see you’ve found a few things to nibble on, madame.” His was shamefully unorganized in comparison, but Akio didn’t seem to mind that his better half had been more graceful in her plating skills. “Are you sure you aren’t willing to share those potatoes? I’m pretty positive that I need to check those for poison, first.”
To say that the woman had no idea what was happening right now was quite the understatement. Prissy had immediately bounced over to her to bombard her with questions and the smaller woman just had to back up just a smidge from the sheer force of the pinkette's aura.
Prissy was quite a different level of something from her days at St. Mags.
"Beautiful?" Surely not Regan, Prissy was far more stunning. Hands clasped on her and any movements to make a quick exit were completely stamped out. "I have never danced, I haven't eaten yet, A picture?"
Again before she could object there was her and Prissy posed together in a picture and Regan just wasn't sure what to do. As she had seen other girls do in high school her hand came around Prissy's waist and she angled her chin against the woman's. She didn't smile though, and as deadpanned as she normally was....
"Valentines!"
Hopefully that was a good picture because Regan wasn't sure what the heck she was doing. Cars yes, Social gatherings? not so much.

As people drew close to the cashmere cat he ducked his head back under the drapery of the table dressings to bide his time. His long furred tail curled around his feet as he sat, the tip of it gently bouncing against the floor as waited for the party-goers to leave the area so he could attempt to relieve one of the plates above of their delectables.
Suddenly light poured in under his table and the face of a young woman with bright pink hair backdropped by a paler pink dress was looking at him. The tip of his tail stopped as he stared back at her. Was he about to be kicked out now with his hiding spot no longer hidden? I didn't even get to enjoy any fruits of my hard work getting in here...
And immediately the higher pitched tone of the girl practically cooing at him assured him he'd been spotted by a cat lover. Perfect.
He stood from his sitting position and mewed back at her in answer as he padded to the edge of the table. He circled once, twice before flopping onto the floor rolling onto his back to present his furry tummy to her. Here's hoping I am cute enough to feed me something from the table. A paw reached out towards her as he ducked his head towards her, practically rubbing his back against the floor.
The sound that left Mordred was oh so telling- a yelp of indignation and a rushed 'no, stop it!' Kavinsky was ruining her hair, how dare he- (not that she had done anything to her hair but it was a mess, her mess). He seemed in an okay mood now, after her teasing, but it wasn't her goal. No, she needed to see him smiling like an idiot while mooning over someone.
"It's my way of saying you need an outlet." She knew what people did behind closed doors. She had been on the internet unsupervised for almost a year after all. Plus, when you watched people long enough, you realized kissing was the most tame thing people would do. Movies with those weird music scenes and hazy shadowy figure cuts had never been the same. "I'll keep an eye out for some choice specimens then. I'm not the best, but I'll at least try to pick a few good dudes for you." At least she didn’t have to worry about girls think he dressed kinda shabby chick. It was a hard sell. Guys meanwhile, didn’t give a s**t so long as you bathed.
A step backward, she grinned. She could make this work, she could still find him a hot sugar daddy. "Don't get into trouble without me though okay? If you do I wanna record it for youtube." A wink and she darted into the crowd, intent on getting something out of this party. It was time to eat the rich… with just less cannibalism.
"Oh my goooooddddd, this place looks amazing!" Lovi's hands glued themselves to her cheeks in her ecstatic awe. There were pinks and whites and chiffon and lace and tulle and buuttons and cufflinks and stripes and silks and everything a girl could dream of in both decor and fashion trends, all displayed in the same huge room. And Lovi hadn't been in a ballroom like this before — she never had much business in one, especially with her family's prejudice to the outside world, so seing one chock full of lavish surprises really swept her into the holiday mood.
Which, of course, meant she'd drag her school match-up around by the collar if she had to. She needed to see everything this place had on offer. Needed.
As in, she would imminently die if she didn't get a chance to sample the punch and dance on the huge shiny floor and take home one of those super cute gift bags full of candy or just stuff her face with literally all of it in one go. Or she could get her date to do it, maybe.
No, that'd give him too much candy cred.
So whatever. Maybe not that idea. But she had other ideas, and the first on her list was to drag a dance out of this poor sot. "Come on, Jack!" Lovi waved him on, her pink-and-white layered skirt bunching and bouncing with every pump of her legs. The decorative bow twirled wildly with her, and boisterous red curls bounced over a boho camisole and its accompanying lace bolero. She dressed as nicely as she could, which was either nicer than some people or totally not next to others, but that wouldn't matter once they saw that she knew how to dance with the best of them. She kinda hoped her instructor Richard was here to see how she improved her skills and put them to use.
But first, putting the date to work. "We've gotta get a dance in, okay?"

Kavinsky
It was a damn good thing that he wasn't drinking anything otherwise he would have spit all over anyone that was passing by. As it was, his chewed down nails dug into the skin of his palm and his whole body tensed at what his ward was implying.
"The-- christ kid. I'm doing just fine in that department."
He got laid as often as he wanted, it just hadn't been something he'd wanted much of recently. There was too much s**t going on and he was busy making sure that he had more credible income besides odd jobs so child services had no reason to yank Mory from his custody.
"Mory--" It was too late, she had darted off and left him alone. He prayed to whatever cosmic beings were out there that she didn't get caught doing who knew what.
Where the ******** was Banks? He was not going to put up with this fancy bullshit for long if the lawyer didn't show up.

Marlo Xanis might not have been Giulia’s surrogate father, but Elzo was currently out of the picture, and the twins needed someone in their lives. Jada needed someone in her life. Elzo had been their to help and fill the role of fatherly figure. But he’d been gone almost two months now, and so Marlo had filled the vacuum. Not that he minded. He rather liked taking care of the twins, and Hope. It was so mundane, it helped him focus less on the fact his brother might well be dead, and the fact with Giovanni dead, his company was having an ugly internal power struggle. Just so, picking up his cousin/niece for a charity ball as a sort of ‘date’ was nice. She adored these sorts of things, and seeing the look on her face when he’d asked her two weeks prior had been priceless. She was very much his brother’s sister. Easily excitable, easy to please in some ways.
Dressed in a suit, complete with a matching rose to Giulia’s dress, the younger of the Xanis brothers held the door open for his date, smiling. “My lady, please allow me.” He said. It was a bit of fun too, he mused, to play the role of her doting date, treating her like the princess she so wished to be. She was over the moon about the fact he’d taken her to a ball, he hoped she’d not get to wound up when he told her about the carriage ride he’s scheduled in for later.
Khaleel was just about to ask if Lilith wanted to go get flowers for their outfits when he saw a brush of red hair and small figure that was his best friend. With as much respect to Lilith and forewarning, he brought himself and the woman over (if he had a tail it'd be wagging like crazy) to see Fiona and who he assumed was Pat!
Added to that, there was another gentleman and he was pretty sure this was the man that Fiona had talked about! The bro. The uh...Lost boy! THE BRO.
"Hello! Hello!" He let go of Lilith's hand, with a comfortable squeeze before moving to kiss his best friend on the forehead. "Fiona you look pretty! Hello!" He offered his hand to Pat and then to Zach and then to Zach's date.
"Hi, I'm Khaleel!!! and this is my date." He went back to the side of Lilith, taking her hand gently and squeezing. "Lilith! She's very super sweet and kind...."
It was like an excited Labrador had made its way to the middle of this group.

Pat O'Ryan
((I hit edit not quote on my last post so overwrote this one. I will do my best to rewrite this but I make no promises that it won't be different))
Pat had just returned from the flower table to find his date talking with two others, which rapidly evolved to four others with the appearance of young man bouncing over with all the exuberance of a labrador retriever puppy and his date. It took him a moment to juggle the loose flowers he was still carrying to shake the offered hand, immensely glad that he hadn't crushed them in doing so. After spending so much time in picking just the right flowers out to make sure they match the shade of Fi's skirt it would be just wrong if they got bruised or fell apart before he could even present them to her. Not after spending so much money and time on them, it would be a damn shame.
Speaking of which. "Fiona, hold still for a moment," he murmured for a second before slipping the pink rose and the accoping white flowers into her hair, as well as securing the intact corsage around her wrist. Now they really did match since he sported his own pink boutonniere. "Beautiful," His observation was for her ears alone as he finished up and turned to face their company.
"Hi, I'm Pat. Nice to meet you." The tall redhead greeted the others, shaking the offered hands, a bit unsure what else to say. Man was this awkward. It wasn't exactly like he had gotten them tickets to this event so that he could spend the night chatting with strangers, Pat had wanted to dance the night away with Fi in his arms.
Being older and going to these sort of events meant less prom gowns and more... the types of dresses Melody had always secretly wanted to wear but had never attempted to. Tasteful and covering, it was also slinky and flowy and maybe she'd had a little too much fun getting dressed up for her boyfriend (a thought that still made her heart race) while trying to make sure she'd make a good impression.
She was going to meet someone very important to Zach and it was important to her that things went well. She didn't want to risk anything causing problems for him in the future. Good impressions mattered, more so to friends and family of the people she loved.
"Okay but just because she likes you doesn't mean she has to like me," she replied, though his words did bring comfort and the tension started to fade from her shoulders just a little bit. Hand moving to toy with the pink pearl against her collarbone, she let out a small breath. "Besides there is plenty to like about yourself, Zachary Calloway~ So don't even start."
His wink and her teasing made her smile, and she happily followed after him as he seemed to catch sight of the woman he was looking for. Fiona. Had to remember the name Fiona.
As he spoke to the redhead Melody couldn't help to look around in slight nervousness as she waited for a moment to say her own greeting. It was about that time that another couple and a guy joined them. Considering the guy was dressing the woman with flowers in her hair, she assumed him to be her own date and glanced to the other two.
One was a ridiculously exciteable blonde, which was absolutely precious if she had something to say about it. It wasn't often she met people she could literally liken to a dog but he came close.
"Hello, It's a pleasure to meet you all," she returned the greeting to the others. "I'm Melody~" Then a glance to his date and it might have been Melody's turn to get a little excited.
"Lilith! I didn't expect to see you here." Though her words didn't get loud it was easy to tell the excitement was there and she had to try hard not to just throw herself into a hug with her friend. Well, at least Zach wasn't the only one she knew! "Such a pleasant surprise~"

Evren's orange eyes flickered over to the person who spoke to her. "Pleased to meet you! I'm Evren Porter." She said happily when she complimented her dress she rubbed the back of her head. "Thank you, I made them myself."
"I think this event is amazing! It's really inspiring, I've already come up with the next few outfits I want to make." Her eyes then lit up as she reached into her bag and pulled out a cranberry scarf. "Here! I was going to give one to the person my grandmother wanted me to meet today but I don't think they came." She said this with a bright smile as it seemed she was completely unfazed by this.
"It's nice to meet you Evren." She said as she joined her at the table. "Oh that's really interesting!" She wasn't nearly as talented to do something like that. "Do they take you long to make?" She asked her curiously to get to know her a little more. She was fairly certain if she tried to sew a dress or anything that resembled clothing she'd fail at it horribly. She tried to make a quilt once and accidentally broke the sewing machine. She was still trying to get the replacement part she needed to put that back together.
Frowning slightly she was going to comment but the girl seemed quite un-phased. "Oh, well that stinks. At least now you get to hang out with me! Not that I'll make the best substitute for that." Laughing slightly she looked around wondering what she might go do next after she got done talking with Evren. Though she was quite enjoying herself right now so she might hang out here a little while longer than she thought she initially would have.
Not that she found it hard to make friends or anything, it was just sometimes people rubbed her the wrong way. However it seemed to her that she was getting along pretty nicely with Evren and that made her rather happy because it meant potential new friend.

"Oh well, I love to sew. But recently I decided to learn how to knit and I just kinda got over excited this winter!" Smiling she shook her head.
"Oh well... I'm sure the person just got lost or something. But its really weird lately my Grandmother has been making me meet a bunch of boys. I mentioned to my Mother I don't mind making guy friends but I'd like to meet some girls my own age to... and then they got into a yelling match... it was all in Mandarin so I had no idea what they were saying. So anyway yeah I'm glad to be talking to you Accalia."
There were about a dozen better things to do with Suri's time than to be floating around a charity gala--she was a busy woman, with projects on delicate timetables that required her attention and a strict regimen to maintain. It didn't help that part of the celebration was in honor of Prissy Stratford, who had broken one of Suri's ribs and then had the audacity to try and be buddy-buddy about it after the fact. Suri only knew how to be civil from a distance, feigning at icy disinterest, but she couldn't play that part when ordered to mingle with the upper crust at her general's behest. No, at her boss's request. Chase controlled every aspect of her life now, from the mundane to the supernatural, and while it afforded her some comfort to be under his protective wing, she couldn't help but wonder when she would stop feeling shackled.
She watched the ball-goers from a quiet corner of the event, hands cupped around a glass of red wine she’d been nursing for about fifteen minutes. It was enough of a statement, she thought, to be standing casually amid the backdrop of the effortless and glittering, her prosthetic on brazen display under the wide brim of her A-line dress. A full length gown might have spared the guests the discomfort of seeing the jarring absence of a limb, but she was past seeing to the coddled needs of the social elite. Suri was here on business, not to look pretty.
Still, she cast a regarding glance at her companion, who had gone through the effort to make sure they’d both been suitably dressed for the event. “You know, you’d probably have more fun on the dance floor,” she offered to Queenie, fidgeting with the string of pearls resting at her clavicle to keep her hands from shaking. Though her mouth did not smile, her eyes crinkled in permission. “Representing the company, of course.”
