History: Born a prince to a seaside pack that he had little interest in inheriting, Kai ran away to enjoy a life of adventure. Things didn't quite go as planned, though, and he ended up running into a fair amount of trouble along the way. Eventually, his past caught up with him, and he returned home -- but found that it had been devastated in his wake. Also, unbeknownst to him, he fathered two daughters during his travels. It seems inevitable that this, too, will catch up to him eventually.
Personality: Easy-going, confident but more than a little oblivious, Kai grew up in a sheltered and privileged environment and boy does it show. He's in love with the idea of adventure and is full of ideals about equality among wolves, but he lacks the life experience to act on those in any sort of practical way. Mostly he ends up bumbling through life, frequently hurting people along the way without meaning to.

::Miscellaneous Errata::
Kapu'Moana -- Kai's old pack; the name means "Sacred Ocean" and sums up their core belief system. This is a very small, somewhat obscure pack that makes its home on the rocky beaches along the shoreline of Telk. They are in many ways closed off from the rest of the world and their beliefs show that. Members of Kapu'Moana believe that the ocean has blessed them with safety, long life, and prosperity as long as they maintain their proximity to the water, but that the protection wears off as soon as you can no longer smell the salt on the air. Due to this, they are extremely closed-off from the world and do not venture far from it. Most wolves in this pack have never left their pack or seen the outside world, and newcomers to the pack do not come often; the only exception made is when a raiding party of the strongest and most adventurous wolves would go out to steal mates from among neighboring packs, and bring them back to prevent inbreeding.

Name: Iosef Meaning: Version of "Joseph"; Biblical figure Obtained: RP Flatsale in Newbie Event RP Color:Chocolate Theme Song: "Hurt", Johnny Cash (tentative) Distinguishing marks: Calico-colored pelt; dainty/feminine build. Pack: Antianeira
History: Born and raised in Antianeira, slavery is the only life Iosef has ever known. He has always been dedicated to doing the duty for his pack, although this has come with some troubling baggage: Iosef is gay, though he doesn't have the vocabulary to talk about it or the courage to confront it. He has always kept this fact hidden, not sure what his pack would do to him if they found out he fancied the presence of fellow males. Right now, only Seraphim -- the mother of his children -- knows the truth. She accepts it, and they are good friends and he loves her for the pups she has given him, but he can't really love her the way he feels he should.
Iosef's world started to turn upside down when he fell for a fellow slave named Tui. Wracked with guilt about his double life, Iosef called it off, but he still harbors feelings for the white wolf -- which is unfortunate, as Tui's heart and soul belong fully to a warrior now.
With the eruption, Iosef has other things on his mind, though. Strangely in his element in a disaster, the wolf fell into step doing his best to keep the pack and its ally, YMCA, safe during the evacuation. Despite this, some of his own children seem to have gone missing....
Personality: Polite, submissive and yet strangely confident -- Iosef is a wolf who is happiest when he has a lot of work to do. He's comfortable in the position of head slave and considers that job to be highly valuable to Antianeira. He is however prone to nervous shaking and is easily overwhelmed by situations outside of his comfort zone.

Terreis -- Iosef's beloved sister. She belongs to the allied pack now and has given him lots of nephews to adore.
Varia -- Iosef's other sister. A loose cannon, feared by all. He wishes things were different.
Seraphim -- The pack nanny who took Iosef on as her personal slave. She is the mother of his children and he cares for her deeply as a friend, although he wishes he could make himself feel more.
Tui -- A fellow slave who Iosef holds many very confusing feelings for.
Adonai -- Iosef's father, whom he did not meet until adulthood. They don't get along. Adonai thinks he needs to "liberate" his son; Iosef thinks his dad needs to mind his own business.
Chimera -- Iosef's youngest son, who has always greatly resented his position within the pack. He's gone missing, and Iosef can only presume he's died.

History: Kamiya grew up in Kapu'Moana, the same pack as Kai. But where he was a spoiled prince, she was the daughter of a slave, and eager to make a name for herself. When Kai went missing, Kami eagerly volunteered to go looking for him, excited to see more of the outside world. It didn't really live up to her expectations, though, and she quickly decided she'd like nothing more than to go home. Unfortunately, "home" wasn't there when she returned, and now she's basically stuck wandering with the last possible people you'd want around you for the apocalypse.
She had briefly had a relationship with one wolf, resulting in pups. She panicked, abandoning the pups with their father. She regrets the decision now, but there's little she can do about it. She figures they're probably dead anyway.
Personality: Smaller than the average wolf, she has a lot of spunk to make up for it. Never one to back down from a fight, she tends to be a little short-tempered and has no patience for games. It's uncommon for her to open up to anyone, and you'll pretty much never get a straight answer if you ask her about her feelings.
::Friends, Family & Foes:
Kailani -- The prince of the now-defunct Kapu-Moana. If she'd known he'd be so much trouble, she wouldn't have bothered looking for him. Then again, if she hadn't gone looking for him, she'd be dead by now. So there's really no winning.
Marion -- Probably the most obnoxious wolf Kami has ever met, and one of her traveling companions for some reason Kami can't begin to fathom.
Mars & Mercury -- Two of the others that make up her band of merry wanderers. She figures they're pretty much idiots.
Chou -- The least obnoxious member of Kami's traveling band, but probably the strangest. An older fellow, and kind of foreign, and possibly with a death wish. She can't make heads or tails of him.
Lalita -- The father of her pups. If she'd had any sense, she would've just stayed behind with him. He was actually pretty nice. But there's no going back now.
Abhidi & Nakine -- Her pups, born a little early. She made a point not to get to know them so it wouldn't hurt to abandon them, but it did anyway. She's still fairly certain that they're better off this way, but sometimes she thinks about it at night and has her doubts.
Roshan -- The only other survivor from the old pack, as far as she knows. He came with them but stayed behind with the pups to help watch them. She appreciates it more than he knows, though she'll probably never see him again.

History: Born the son of a traitor, Rorret grew up within The Brotherhood pack. Though he spent much of his youth relatively ignored by a pack that was crumbling and occupied with bigger problems, Rorret always believed that he was destined for great things. He made it his mission to do whatever it took to rebuild his beloved pack to its former glory, even if that glory was something he had never personally witnessed. Some of what he's done to attain that goal has been a bit...underhanded. But Rorret feels that success, like sausage, should be judged by its outcome, not the process that created it.
Personality: Intelligent, cunning, scheming and tactical, Rorret views life as a strategy game -- and Rorret loves games. He is unwaveringly loyal to his pack, but also acts from a position of deep selfishness: He acts for the good of the pack because it serves his needs. He's not above manipulating anyone and everyone, and knows when to play the subordinate role for his own purposes. In his heart, Rorret feels that he's a puppet master, and everyone he meets is a puppet whose strings he can pull.

Azalea -- Rorret was eager to find a suitable male heir to groom for the position of alpha, and Azalea was looking for strong females for her own Amazonian pack. They saw to each other's needs, and though the interaction was both manipulative and transactional, Rorret harbors some small feelings for her. He cannot acknowledge or act on them again, though, if he values his life (and Rorret values little else)
Zarathustra -- Rorret's son, though his parentage is a secret to all but Rorret himself. As a pup, Zarath was carefully groomed for leadership, and fortunately took easily to the role.
::Miscellaneous Errata::
Word games -- Rorret loves all manner of word games as they help him provide order to his otherwise chaotic thoughts. He plays word-association games, jumping from one word to the next as they occur to him; he plays word-string games, using the ending of one word to begin the next; he also plays with rhymes, inverted order, homonyms...you name it, if it can be done with language, Rorret loves it. Nothing would please him more than a partner or companion who truly got the game and could communicate with him on that level.
Incidentally, his little verbal tic was inspired by the foreign film Killing Words

He's not the kind of wolf you can easily forget once you've met him. Pack: Followlight
History: Born into a rather strange and dysfunctional family, Novacaine didn't have much of a chance at a normal childhood. As a young adult, he decided to tag along with his distant cousin Aislin when she insisted that they get out of their homeland immediately, because it seemed as sensible as anything else. In hindsight, it seemed like a pretty good idea, seeing as they got a clear glimpse of the world burning in the rearview mirror.
Personality: Generally quiet and a bit slow on the uptake, Novacaine doesn't talk much, but it's hard to get him to shut up about the things that interest him. He's a genuinely good guy, seeing the good in most people and making friends fairly easy once they get over his unnerving tendency to stare in silence. Left to his own devices, Nova would be perfectly content to spend his time exploring nature and pondering the intricacies of life. Which, to outsiders, seems an awful lot like sitting and staring in a kind of creepy way, punctuated by frequently inappropriate questions.
::Friends, Family & Foes:
Aislin & Cumulonimbus -- The alphas of his fledgling pack. They're sweet, earnest, and seem to know what's best, so Novacaine follows them.
Fubar -- Novacaine's cousin, and one of the most obnoxious wolves imaginable. Novacaine is one of the only wolves who can stand to be around him, which means he's probably the closest friend he's ever had.
Melka -- A beautiful and strange wolf who Novacaine has taken quite a liking to. He's very glad she's agreed to tag along with their pack as they travel.
Mental Illness -- there is a long family history of mental disorder in Novacaine's family, from the fairly subtle to the extreme, but nobody is entirely what you would call "normal" by most standards.
Asperger's Syndrome -- It occurred to me sometime after I developed his character that what I was describing pretty neatly matched symptoms of mild Asperger's, so that's one way to view his personality. Who knows if it will worsen or improve with age?

History: Born one of five boys to Terreis and Derecho, Balios and his brothers grew up aware that they were a disappointment to their Amazonian mother. Some of the pups took this harder than others, but Balios mostly kept it in stride. He appointed himself the role of "family diplomat" at a young age and tried his best to keep the peace, though his efforts were often regarded as nosiness and rejected. In the wake of the eruption, he followed his family and packmates, careful to stay close and help any stragglers. But once he reached Tolas, the call to explore was too strong for him to ignore, so he headed out into the world to see what it was all about. He plans to return home someday, but until then, he's eager to see everything there is to see.
Personality: Friendly but more than a little nosy, Balios loves to solve people's problems -- even if has to do some unwelcome prying to hear about them. He's gotten some better people skills as he's grown and met more strangers, but he'll probably always have an ear for gossip.

History: Born to the alphas of Draug Faroth, Aduial always considered herself something of a princess. She's also a little too soft and dainty for the more barbaric family pack. She did make close friends as a pup with her agemate, Cernunnos, who grew into a role of best friend, body guard, and crush.
In her early adulthood, trouble came to Aduial's pack in the form of a war challenge from Reign of Terror. That confusion was interrupted by the volcanic eruption, throwing everything into chaos. Aduial fled by the side of Zisa, a wolf from RoT, and they became unexpected friends out of necessity. Zisa saved Aduial from burning rubble, sustaining serious injuries herself, and eventually succumbed to an infection. Now Aduial is alone in the new world, trying to find her way, and hoping that she will someday find a friendly face.
Personality: Polite, proper and lady-like, Aduial is a pretty classy lady. She's had a rough go of it more recently, though, and has lost some of the naivete she once held. She's had to pick up a sort of foxy cunning in order to survive. She's no longer a wolf you can take lightly.

It was made worse when their mother was killed by hunters and their father's sanity broke, sending him on a murderous rampage that ended only when Kaeerah killed him herself. The sisters parted ways then, both struggling with darkness and insanity deep in their hearts.
For Lungaia's part, she's spent most of her life in solitude, working hard to suppress the darkness within her. She's plagued by a certain madness, an intermittent feeling of deja vu -- as though she holds memories of a life that's not her own. It frequently leads her to believe that she's met some wolves before.
She finally found some peace in Antianeira, a pack of female warriors whose structured lifestyle and rigorous training gave her a solid outlet for her violent tendencies. There she met Tui, a slave whom she felt immediately attracted to -- in part romantically, but in part something else, something deeper. Together, they raised the foundling pup Honoria, and began to develop something resembling a real life together.
They were separated in the chaos of the disaster, however, and Lungaia and Honoria fled Telk together. They had to do some unspeakable things to survive...but Lungaia is accustomed to doing unspeakable things. Her greatest driving force is to find what's left of Antianeira, and find Tui again, but she is also troubled, for there are now many secrets that she cannot ever share with her beloved.
Personality: Quiet, gruff, and sometimes hostile toward most others, there's another side to her as well -- something soft, maternal and a little bit vulnerable. And, for those who get close enough to see it, a whole lot of crazy.

Varia -- The only wolf Lungaia has met who could match her in a fight, this head warrior of Antianeira commands a certain level of respect.
Tui -- Lungaia's soulmate, for want of a better term. She found him and felt as though she'd discovered someone from long ago, and she has claimed him as her own. Somehow, protecting him fills some dark void in her heart.
Honoria -- Tui and Lungaia's adopted daughter. They share some dark secrets about each other. Lungaia fears that the darkness in her foundling runs more deeply than she first thought, and it makes her uneasy; she cannot stomach the thought of putting down any more dangerous family members.
Kaeerah -- Lungaia's sister, a vicious cannibal who had never been the same after killing their father. When their paths crossed as adults, Lungaia did not hesitate to kill her.

An Old OC: Lungaia's been a character of mine for almost 10 years now, and she's one of my favorites. Her backstory here is a bit different than her original character (which involved the presence of demon blood in her genes), but the spirit is much the same. In her time with me, she has been a lupe on Neopets, an anthro wolf, and a werewolf in a Werewolf: The Apocalypse game. She's also lent her name to my WoW druid and several of my online accounts. In short, I pretty much love this girl.

History: Born to an inter-pack tryst, Aislin chose to live with her father in Agua Azul, though she rarely saw him or the rest of her family. It wasn't really their fault: She just always had her head in the clouds, and frequently spent her time day-dreaming or napping. Aislin always preferred the company of dreams to real life. In dreams, everything is possible, and so much more vibrant.
She did become close to a few wolves, though, and one in particular changed the course of her life. Cumulonimbus -- a serious, worried wolf about her age -- met her, and somehow they fell in love as they grew up together. A strange hallucinatory visitation from Cue, coupled with troubling dreams from Aislin, convinced them both that they needed to leave home, certain that a disaster was coming.
As it happened, a disaster did come, and though it was a coincidence, it was what Aislin needed to secure in her mind forever that they were on the right path. Now fueled by a sort of religious zeal, she, Cue and a few of their friends have been wandering in search of a promised land that may not exist, planning to properly found their pack once they've gotten settled.
Personality: Sweet and dreamy, Aislin is a little weird and very disconnected from reality. She probably shouldn't be indulged in her fancies -- a good dose of reality might be good for her -- but those around her tend to eat up whatever she has to say, and it's gone to her head a bit. She's fairly convinced that she's got psychic powers, although in truth she's probably just delusional. She does love her pack, though, and especially Cue and their puppies. Sometimes she puts flowers in their fur and sings them lullabies.

History: Born in the Aves pack, Dubhe grew up with a loving family and plenty of support. In the fashion of his pack, he grew with a totemic religion, worshiping a pantheon of natural deities. His bold, rash personality tended to get him in trouble, though. A serious injury in his teen years led to him calming down somewhat and reaching out to connect with his more spiritual side. During a harsh winter, he crossed paths with a group of wolves who seemed very lost, and he took it upon himself to help them, teaching them to hunt more efficiently to get them through the winter. Feeling that his gods were telling him that this was his new calling, Dubhe decided to leave his homeland to wander a time with these new wolves. He never imagined that he would never be able to return home.
Personality: As a pup, Dubhe was hyperactive, brash, and prone to unwise decisions. He's calmed down somewhat as an adult, channeling that energy into dedication and intensity. He still clings to the belief that females are inherently weaker and requiring protection, and can be a little bone-headed about it

History: Adonai isn't a young wolf anymore, although he doesn't care to be reminded of the fact. He spent much of his youth wandering, settling down when it appealed to him and traveling when the whim struck him. Along the way, he inadvertently fathered a litter of three, a fact which caught up with him when he came across them as adults. Upon learning that their mother had died, Adonai decided it would only be fair if he stayed to form a relationship with his grown children and new grandchildren. Unfortunately for him, his family wants little to do with him -- and he has very little cultural understanding of the harsh Amazonian pack where most of them dwell.
To assuage his feelings of guilt and loneliness, he sought out the company of a younger female, Tiyana, who ended up bearing him more pups. Eager to do things right this time, he made plans to settle down with her, but tragedy has gotten in the way: One pup died very young, and another was lost, presumed dead. Still reeling from that tragedy, he, Tiyana and their remaining son were flung into chaos in the midst of the volcanic eruption that tore apart Telk.
Personality: Depending who you ask, Adonai is either gallantly charming or an insufferable busy-body who can't keep his nose in his own business. He genuinely cares about the welfare of others, but his intentions are frequently misunderstood and he often ends up alienating those he wishes to get close to. He had a rather wild youth, but in his middle age all he wants to do is settle down and do right by his family, if any of them will let him.

Tiyana -- His mate, or at least the mother of his youngest children. He has a lot of work ahead of him to get back into her good graces.
Iosef -- Adonai's oldest son, a slave in the Antianeira pack. Adonai worries that he is not being treated properly by the harsh conditions of the pack, and wishes he could liberate him, but Iosef wants nothing to do with him.
Thrush -- Essentially Adonai's nemesis. A packmate with a mysterious past and prickly nature, the two of them rub each other very much the wrong way. He sometimes feels recalcitrant and wants to try and mend fences, but every conversation then have usually quickly dissolves into insult trading.

History: Born as part of a rather large family, Glory's accustomed to busy gatherings and plenty of chaos. She grew up in the Realm and has taken its lessons to heart, and is eager to help her pack establish itself in the new territory in whatever way she can. (subject to editing depending on what happens to the Realm)
During the cataclysm, she was briefly stranded with Conquering Hero, her arch-nemesis (who she also has a big crush on, but shhh).
Personality: Work hard, play hard, and always do the right thing. That's basically her motto. She might be a little too eager to be heroic, but as she grows older, some of that shallowness has been lost and replaced with a deeper need to watch out for anyone who cannot protect themselves.

Conquering Hero -- A pup from her family's "rival" litter, they've spent pretty much all of their lives trading insults. He's obnoxious and conceited and she thinks he's kind of amazing and has great hair but oh god she hates him.

History: Born the youngest son of the head slave in Antianeira, Chimera always had a chip on his shoulder. Self-conscious about his appearance, angry at his forced station in live, jealous of the freedoms granted to his sisters and annoyed by his oblivious brothers, the pup began to harbor a deep rage and resentment in his heart. He got some relief by being trained to fight in secret by the queen's head consort, one of the few males with any sort of power in the pack, and from the love of his sister Isobel...but it wasn't enough to offset his anger.
Agitated and feeling that the world owed him something, Chimera broke away and tried to make it on his own -- but he didn't get far. He was found, grievously injured, by a member of the Brotherhood pack, and something in his attitude caught their attention. Rather than killing him, they took him into the fold, and there he remains.
Personality: Though still filled with resentment, much of Chimera's more childish whining about unfairness has given way to a cold hardness. In many ways, he believes that his new pack is a haven, representing what's owed to him. However, in his heart, he harbors a few doubts about the pack's darker nature...particularly concerned about the interest they seem to have taken in rumors of an all-female pack of amazons.

Isobel -- Chimera's closest sister. They were dear friends growing up, though their stations in life forced them apart more as they aged. Part of him misses her, though he feels he'd do better to forget about her now that he's been reborn into the Shadowclan.

History: Born in a rather large and strange family, Fubar spent much of his childhood with his cousin Novacaine -- one of the few wolves who could stand to be around him. He also, uncannily, fell in love with a sunny-dispositioned female named Sophia. Together, the crew of them joined up with Aislin and Cue on their trek to discover Cue's god (whom Fubes is certain doesn't exist), and Fubar learned he would be a father. For a while, things actually looked pretty decent.
But as inevitably happens, tragedy struck. First, Fubar's daughter was stillborn, a loss that devastated him. He never quite bonded with his sons afterward. Not much longer after that, his pack was attacked by The Brotherhood, leaving several packmates -- including his beloved Sophia -- dead, or at least presumed dead. Now all Fubar has left is his son Eros, whom he regularly punishes for having the gall to survive when so many others had died.
Personality: Fubar's the kind of wolf who thinks if he's not having fun, nobody else should either -- which is unfortunate, as he never has any fun. Depressive, gloomy, self-pitying and sarcastic, Fubar's pretty much convinced that the glass is not only half empty, but that whoever drank it is laughing behind his back. He seems to enjoy wallowing in misery, in fact, so much so that if given the chance to improve the situation he'll never take the opportunity. He'd much rather just ruin the experience for everyone else.

Novacaine -- Fubar's cousin, and the only wolf who can stand him for prolonged periods of time. They're best friends, sort of.
