Dere: *looks at her brother warily, just waiting for something, anything to do something strange*
Nova: *head tilts, looking at her, then looks over his shoulder, confused* ...What?
Dere: *looks around and lays her head down over her paws* Stuff does weird thing...like...stuff it's no supposed to do and I know it's not supposed to do! *whines*
Nova: *brow furrows, looking concerned* Like what? *hasn't seen anything, and starts to wonder if he missed something important* I see....grass. And rocks. And....a tree? *helpfully?*
Dere: *sighs and looks out with her bright green eyes, at first she saw nothing peculiar but then..oh there it was the tree, how it taunted her. It began to sway and bend wriggling its branches at her as though taunting her, rustling it's leaves and reaching towards her making her jump back and hide behind her brother* That tree! Can't you see it? It's trying to get me, it sways and moves and taunts me!
Nova: *tilts his head, looking at the tree and not seeing anything particularly abnormal about it, but rises to his paws protect her nonetheless* Want me to go check it out?
Dere: *whines pitifully, know it was just her mind again* No...it can't reach me here...*just to be sure..maybe she could just see things others couldn't* It's better to stay away...*bumps her head against his thigh* I don't wanna make it mad.
Nova: *he brushes against her comfortingly, and takes a step forward, sniffing at the tree, which appears to be quite still*
Dere: *lets out a small yip* Doooon't! *looks up at the tree, her tail tucked tightly beneath her. it had returned to it's still position, but for how long she didn't know and she didn't want to find out and have it attack her brother*
Nova: Okay, okay....*flops back to his haunches, concerned now* ...Need me to....ah...do something?
Dere: *sighs and lays down next to him* No...you're lucky you know that. You don't see this stuff like I do. I mean...it's not always scary. Sometimes I see nice stuff. *looks up at her brother, envious of his calm nature, nothing ever seemed to bother him*
Nova: *shrugs, considering this* Eh, I guess I'm lucky....but maybe you're just special? *glances around, looking for a way to cheer her up* What kind of nice stuff do you see?
Dere: *looks up at the sky and rolls onto her back, watching the clouds float by* The clouds...but only the white ones...the black ones are mean. But the white ones will make pictures...kinda like they are telling a story...and sometimes the grass will sing songs when the wind blows. But it's not a song you can hear, it's just something you feel. *looks back to her brother with a smile, he knew how to make her feel better*
Nova: *tilts his head back to stare at the clouds overhead* I see things in them, too, *he said, voice even* Like that one there looks like a squirrel riding on the back of a frog. *he tilted his head, tongue peeking out from between his lips in concentration* Oooor maybe more like....like Daddy, but with antlers.
Dere: *giggles that the thing her brother sees* Yeah...oh I see that! It does look like Daddy! *wriggles giddily, while their mother practically ignored them their father was still very loving and she adored their father* I see...a lot of things...*oh the things she could see as the clouds almost on a whim began to swirl and dance across the sky turing into a large bird flapping its enormous wings to a hare racing across the others before diving into its burrow, oh if only Nova could see this too* Sometimes...I really wish others could see what I do.
Nova: *now staring at the sky with the sort of slack-jawed, blank expression that he would come to be known for when he was concentrating on something* Maybe other people -can- see it, and you just haven't met them yet? *he offered, not sure*
Dere: *unable to full grasp the idea of others seeing like herself* Maybe...I sure hope so. It's not fun thinking I'm the only one. I mean I know Illu sees stuff too...but not like me. *sighs and pouts a little, closing her eyes* Maybe someday I'll meet someone like me...
Nova: I bet you will. *nods confidently, and lowers his head, glancing at his sister. He prodded at her with a paw* Hey, c'mon, want to go explore a little?
Dere: *blinks her eye open, blinded a little by the sun, but manages to squint at her brother and nod, as long as she was with him she felt safe.* Sure...I've never been too far from the den...but...as long as I'm with you I guess it'll be okay. You won't let anything get me. *wiggles her tail a little*
Nova: Of course not! *puffs out chest, mostly for her benefit* Anything tries to get you, I'll take care of 'em. I promise. *smiles, glad to see her looking a little happier, and looks around, debating where to go. in truth, he hadn't been far from the den yet either*
Dere: *rolls over onto her mismatched paws and shakes herself out and looks around* I'll let you lead...you'll be a better leader. *sits down and smiles at her brother, feeling even better by the moment*
Nova: *isn't so sure he's much of a leader type but hey, if she says so, he'll try his best* Oh! I've got it! *takes off enthusiastically towards a tree -- not the one that had been menacing his sister, thankfully -- tail wagging*
Dere: *jumps up bounding after her brother, but making sure to stay at least a few paw steps behind him* Where are we going? *curious and tilts her head sniffing at the air for a possible hint of what had his attention and gave him an idea*
Nova: There's something funny about this tree. Not scary-funny *he adds, in case she's concerned* but...cool funny. Look. *comes to a halt, pointing at it; the tree's roots were sticking up out of the ground, and there was a small opening at the base of the trunk, just the right size for a pup to squeeze down into* Think it goes somewhere?
Dere: *shuffles her paws a little as she looks at it* Well...it's gotta go somewhere..I mean if it's there in the first place, if it didn't go no where it wouldn't be there...right? *tried to see a little into the hole from a distance, unsure about it, but still curious*
Nova: *grins, tail wagging* Wouldn't that be awesome? And look! *standing over the hole, looking quite proud of his find* It's just big enough for someone like you or me. Nobody else could get in. *the thought hasn't occurred to him that his newfound hole might already be occupied, and he sticks his head inside to give it a hearty sniff before withdrawing it* Wanna check it out?
Nova: *head tilts, looking at her, then looks over his shoulder, confused* ...What?
Dere: *looks around and lays her head down over her paws* Stuff does weird thing...like...stuff it's no supposed to do and I know it's not supposed to do! *whines*
